Reporting Services :: Passing Parameter Via URL Using Javascript - Missing Parameter Value
Dec 3, 2015
Using SQL Server 2008R2 and Report Builder 3.0..I have an action set in a text box of a table. My intent is to pass the value of that text box (which is variable) to a sub-report in a popup window. Here's my code: URL....The parameter of the report I'm trying to open is @SONum.I'm guessing my error is involved in the formatting of how the value of the parameter is being passed. I've also seen examples where the report server and report values were parameterized, but I don't know where to define
Parameters!ServerAddress.Value anywhere.Do I need to have something set up a certain way within the report I'm opening? Here's the report Parameter settings on the report I'm trying to open.
I have two report , first is main report which is matrix and have one parameter User_ids which is multi value selection and my second report is basic chart of user_wise performance.
Now, my main report (matrix ) works fine for Multiple selection of users and i have putted one textbox on main report chart which has action properties set for chart report, when user click on chart button it must goes to chart with user selected in main report. Now , i have used expression for parameter to send it like ..
=join(parameter!user_id!value,",") which pass selected value to chart
And when I am selecting single user it passing that value to chart parameter list but , when it is more than one user it errors with conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '121,128' to data type int. But my chart also works when passing 121,128 in user parameter in preview of report .
I have an issue where I need to set a whole bunch of internal parameters' values to the result of a dataset first executed with the report...nothing new or majestic about it.
The problem is that the 'First dataset', under some parameter values, return no records..it is empty (which is fine). But this meas that these internal parameters error my report as the 'NEED' a value even though I have specified a default, I still get the 'Paremeter X is missing a value' error. I just want the other datasets, which are reliant on these erroring parameters to either execute with parameter values of 0 or not execute at all. Thus I want the sub datasets to return with blank data in this case or not execute at all.
I am trying to run the report by passing the parameters using url.
[URL]
I get the error when I add the "Year" parameter in the above url, after adding this I get error "The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. (rsInvalidItemPath)
Lob parameter is in the same dataset , But Year parameter is from different Dataset(Year_Param_DS).But If I am passing second parameter (Year) like Sum(Fields!Year_list.Value, "Year_Param_DS") i am not able to open the popup.
If i am removing the sum word Main report is giving an error that "Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current dataset scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified dataset scope."e syntax (I am working using MDX query) to pass two parameter through url, one from same dataset and 2nd is from another dataset.Or it is not possible to pass the value field from other Dataset in URL (Go to URL option).
I have a Report that I want to access that has a parameter input for the date, Production_Date. I want to allow the user to use the DateTimePicker to select the date to use for Production_Date. I can't seem to find the correct way to format what I'm tring to do. My production date field is in a format without punctuation so that it becomes:
which gives me a value that I want to send as a parameter for the Reporting Services report that I have located on a tab in my project. The report is:
Me.ReportViewer1
I want to send the ProductionDate to the report where the report looks for Production_Date. Obviously, I 'm very new to this. I'd appreciate any suggestions. As it runs now, the default date is loaded (today's date) from the expression I calculated in Reporting services:
=(Now.Month*1000000)+(Now.Day*10000)+Now.Year
This is a big roadblock right now and I can't seem to put together a legal means to pass this value. Thanks for any help.
Is it possible to pass a report parameter that is defined as a string to the following SQL statement that is using an "IN" clause ?
WHERE (ANALYST.User_Bemsid IN (@Report_Parameter_Bemsid))
If I pass a single value (I.E. A) it works okay, but once I try to pass multiple values (I.E. A,B or 'A','B') it returns no data.
Using Crystal reports I can pass multiple values via a report prompt into the SQL "IN" clause and seems that SQL Reporting Services should also have this feature. What do I need to do to get it working ?
I'm trying to rertieve specific RS 2005 report by passing WebApp control value (this.VCtrlNo.Text) to "CV Report" - name of my report with the following scripts.
1) No Action - when clicked. AutoPostBack is set and properly initialized.
2) This just opened the default page instead of specific report. <a href="http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fReports+Folder%2fCV+Report&rc=Render&vctrlno=10-0000037", target="_blank">Open CV Report </a>
Where "Reports" is the reportmanager, vctrlno is the parameter name (properly set) and obviously I want to open a new page.
I would be very thankful to anyone who can lead to make this work.
I have two reports 'Product Details' and 'Sales by Product'
When i click on 'Product ID' field in 'Product Details' report, It has to drill through to 'Sales by Product' which has a parameter 'Product ID' in it.
I have a report that prompts the user to select a parameter, for simplicity, let's say the parameter is for color choice, options are Red, Yellow, Blue or *. The * is for include all colors. I am passing that parameter back to the dataset query which, again for simplicity is
select Hue from AvailableColors whereColor = @ColorParam.
For a specific color this works fine, for the "*" selection it returns a null. It would seem that I need to convert the * to % but I am not sure how.....
I am trying to test the concept of passing multi value parameters from one report using the Action Property of a textbox to open another report is a new Window with the Multi Value parameter values already passed. The test involves the following:
Report 1:
1. Multi Value Parameter @ReportParameter1 has three Values: Value1, Value2, Value3
2. Has a text box with the Action Property set to Go to URL with the following Expression: ="javascript:void(window.open('http://reportserver/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fReports%2fReport2&rs:Command=Render&ReportParameter1=" + JOIN(Parameters!ReportParameter1.Value,"&ReportParameter1=") + "'))"
Report 2:
1. Has Two Parameters @ReportParameter1 and @ReportParameter2
2. @ReportParameter1 has Available Values as follows: Value1, Value2, Value3
Does not have any default Values.
When I click on the textbox on Report1, it does navigate to Report2 but none of the Values are being set.
we are using SSRS 2012.Oracle 9i as back end database. Select A,B,C from view where A in (Param1) in above query when I am passing 1 value getting output in 30 sec. when I passed two values getting time out error in SSRS. how to pass multiple values in Oracle 9i in SSRS report.
I tried to pass parameter from one report to another report. I can send the parameter using following option: I used jump to url option and write the following expression:
I would like to have a parameter on my report to Select by Order_Taken_By. My attempt at that is here:
Dataset called OrderTaken:
select distinct SO_Header.Order_Taken_By from SO_Header Under the report Parameter Properties named @Order, under Available Values Selected "Get Values from a query"
I have DataSet: OrderTaken
Value Field: Order_Taken_By Label Field: Order_Taken_By
The values of the field Order_Taken_By is all text characters, no integer values.
Running the inital Query by itself yields results. When I add the parameter, I can make a selection, but now I get no results, even though there should be values for the choice I've chosen.
Result (While I am selecting 'Yes' in dropdown) ---------------------------------------------- incident_id usr_id item_id 10059926 191 61006 10054444 222 3232
SELECT incident.incident_id,incident.usr_id,incident.item_id FROM incident where exists (How i can write query here to check the act_type_sc=ADD_ATTCHMNTS is exists)
I am passing a field value from main report to a parameter in a drill through sub report. But some field values contain 'special characters'. Those field values that contain special characters are not working for drill through. Javascript code to include special characters to pass to sub report parameter?
my dataset from sharepoint list. and this dataset value assign to parameter. i want when no any parameter is selected than it should filter like "ALL". when i select alow null value it give me prompt error you can not select null in multivalue parameter. How can i do it. i am using share point list.
I am using reporting services 2012, Can we make visibility of report parameter dynamic, ie can we make parameter visible or hide on certain condition or its visibility depends on other parameters Is this feature available in any other updated version of ssrs?
I have a report parameter called para1 which is a drop-down list and what I want to do is display another report parameter based on the para1 selection.
So for example, para1 contains a, b, c choices. if a user selects b, I would like para2 to display but if the user selects a or c, I don't want the para2 to display.
I'll go to a dataset, open up the query designer, add a new parameter, then refresh the fields, but the parameter won't be added as a report parameter. If I go to the dataset properties under the list of parameters, the value in the dropdown will be blank. However, sometimes this will automatically add.
Is this a bug in Visual Studio? How do I get around this?
Hi, I'm having problems navigating from one report to another one if the second report has a multi-valued report parameter. When I navigate to the second report, I don't pass any parameters, but I get an error "parameter is missing a value" for the multi-valued report parameter. I have it setup as allow "multi-value" and "blank value". Any idea what the issue might be? Thanks.
I am passing the partameters to MS Report Viewer control to view the report. It is working fine with normal parameters like 'abc', 'Jon' etc. But fails with parameters having special characters like 'abc+', 'Version 1.1 Part 1', 'R1.8 RC' throws error " The parameter is missing a value"
I'm calling the SSIS packages through SQL agent job. The packages have variables defined with default values. The parent packages have no package configuration. The child packages have package configuration of ‘Parent Package variable’ type The variables are being passed from the job. The job calls the parent package which loops though the child packages. I would like to know how the variables traverse through the packages and the jobs?
Another doubt not related to above. I am unable to make any changes to the connections. Whatever changes I make it is getting reverted to the original if I click elsewhere. So as a workaround I view the code in XML and change.
public Sub Main() Dim url, destination As String destination = Dts.Variables("report_destination").Value.ToString + "" + "Report_" + Format(Now, "yyyyMMdd") + ".xls" url = "http://localhost/ReportServer?/ssis_resport_execution/ssis_ssrs_report&rs:Command=Render&ProductID=" + Dts.Variables("ProductID").Value.ToString + "&user_id" + Dts.Variables("user_id").Value.ToString + "&rs:Format=EXCEL" SaveFile(url, destination) Dts.TaskResult = ScriptResults.Success End Sub
How to pass more than one variable values in ssis as parameter values to ssrs. With the above code its showing as empty. If i am taking single variable i am able to render the data into excel sheet.
I have following job script. I need to make file connection and db connection passing in job as parameter.
where in following script is should pass it.
if i am passing here but when i change path it still getting old path in package.what i needs to change in package.also how to make connection dynamic so in each env when we deploy it will automatically change. We have sql job script for each env.
Hi, I've got this ssrs 2005 report that works great passing a few security related parameters from asp.net codebehind. However, there are two date related parameters that won't be coming from my web form, but rather from the report form itself. When I test the report's date parameters from visual studio it work fine, but when I attempt the same report from a reportviewer no matter what input I place on the report's date fields or even if I select the date picker, the report simply resets to default and reloads. And actually the date picker from the reportviewer does not not even pop up.
Partial Class _ReportViewer Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Private Users As New Retailer.Core()
Protected Overrides Sub OnLoad(ByVal e As EventArgs)
Dim Roles() As String = GetRolesForUser(Page.User.Identity.Name.ToString)
Dim cred As New Retailer.ReportServerCredentials("myuser", "mypassword", "mydomain") ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerCredentials = cred
Dim param As New ReportParameter("r_user", Page.User.Identity.Name.ToString) Dim param2 As New ReportParameter("r_role", Roles(0)) Dim p() As ReportParameter = {param, param2}
on my reportviewer form, at the top I have parameters for startdate and end date, they are not set to internal or hidden.
If I select the calendar icon, i get a javascript error
Line: 606 Object Required
When I attempt to debug I get a Just-In-time failed : Unspecified error. Check the documentation index for 'Just-in-time debugging, errors' for more information. So pretty much I can't see the error or javascript in question.
If i enter anything in the date fields, it disregards them setting them to the defaults.
Again, if i run the report from my vs.net client (not using reportviewer), i can select the calendar and enter dates and it respects them.
Any chance I need to patch sql server or reporting services? maybe ie. I'm on IE 7.0.5730.11 Could my problem be that selecting items on the report itself fails to send my credential information from my codebehind?
I'm facing to set report parameter report parameter need to be date time so that calendar will be displayed but data set field is integer data type? Now report shows error message.
I am passing parameter through URL for SSRS report viewer. My parameter value contains '&' character like "P&B Ltd". It is showing below error :
The path of the item '..//' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. (rsInvalidItemPath)
Is it possible to save a report parameter somewhere in the report to use it for subsequent refresh or report runs of the same report?
I have a value that is dynamically calculated. The report is called from Microsoft Dynamics CRM. When calling the report from CRM first time the report shows the correct data. But when I want to show detail data by clicking on a bar in a bar chart the report lost its CRM context and shows the wrong data in the whole report (from completely different account).
On strategy against this could be to save the parameter (id of the account from who I select the data) in a "parameter" for later use.
Is this and how is this possible, or is there any other way to accomplish this.
I am trying to build a Reporting Services report that reads data from SSIS package based on a parameter specified. In the RS report I created a parameter and added it to the dataset (no changes in data source though, only -f <path to dtsx file). In the SSIS package I created a user variable scoped to Package, in the default User userspace. No mapping has been done as I don't know where (and if) should I set it up. The problem is I get an error message when trying to view the report in RS saying "A requested parameter does not exists in the package".
Any help and/or ideas are appreciated, I couldn't find anything on "the internets"
