Reporting Services :: Power BI (PIBX) - Integrate Two Designer Files Into Single File
Nov 12, 2015
How to integrate both this design files into single file in Power BI(.pibx)?
I have two .pibx files - say (lab1 and lab2)
In Lab1.pibx file - i have created two sheets of report design
In Lab2.pibx file - i have created one sheet of report design
Now user want to see both .pibx file to single .pibx file. (Lab1.pibx should have Lab2.pibx design also)
How to integrate both this design files into single file in Power BI?
Final output - Lab1.pibx file contains (2 design + 1 design from lab2.pibx file)

I have a power view report with some filters. I want some of the Filters to be just Single Value Select Filters like dropdowns instead of Multi-Select ,as multiple selected values can show garbage data. Also it is very inconvenient for the end user to keep unchecking/clearing the previously selected value and then select the appropriate value. Is there a workaround or is it a limitation that has yet to be addressed???Â

Hi,
For last 2 days, I'm struggling to integrate WSS 3.0 with SP1 with SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services with SP2 with Kerberose authentication.
And finally I'm stuck
At the moment I've got 2 issues, one is when "Set defaults" on Central Administration site, second is when I'm trying to browse the reporting server for report €“ using Report Viewer webpart configuration (when selecting "Report").
Before I will go futher with errors message, here is my configuration:
WSS 3.0 with SP1 and Reporting Services Add-in:
Computer: SharePoint02 | SharePoint02.led.local
Portal url: http://sharepoint02 | http://sharepoint02.led.local
Admin url: http://sharepointadmin02 | http://sharepointadmin02.led.local
Portal App Pool: LEDSPContentPool
Admin App Pool: LEDSPConfigAcct
SQL Server 2005 with SP2, Reporting Services with SP2, WSS 3.0 with SP1 Front End:
Computer: SharePointDB | SharePointDB.led.local
Front End Portal url: http://sharepointdb | http://sharepointdb.led.local
URL to reporting services: http://sharepointdb/SPSReportServer | http://sharepointdb.led.local/SPSReportServer
Front End App Pool: LEDSPContentPool
Reporting Services App Pool: LEDSPConfigAcct
Report Server Service Account: LEDSPConfigAcct
SQL Server Account: LEDSPConfigAcct
I know I should have separate account.
Service Principals (SPContentPool):
Registered ServicePrincipalNames for CN=SPContentPool,CN=Users,DC=LED,DC=LOCAL:
HTTP/sharepoint02
HTTP/sharepoint02.led.local
Service Principals (SPConfigAcct):
Registered ServicePrincipalNames for CN=SPConfigAcct,CN=Users,DC=LED,DC=LOCAL:
HTTP/sharepointdb
HTTP/sharepointdb.led.local
MSSQLSrv/sharepointdb.led.local:1433
HTTP/sharepointadmin02.led.local
HTTP/sharepointadmin02
Reporting add-in is activated, I'm able to specify the report server (http://sharepointdb.led.local/SPSReportServer) and to grant permission.
1) FIRST ISSUE
However when I'm trying to set the defaults for Reporting Services from Central administration I'm getting following error:
The target location you specified is not supported by the report server. A report definition (.rdl), report model (.smdl), resource, or shared data source (.rsds) file must be located within a library or a folder within it. ---> The target location you specified is not supported by the report server. Reporting Server error message is:

This error message then repeats few times, usually always after:
w3wp!library!5!03/12/2008-11:18:16:: Call to GetSystemPropertiesAction().
2) SECOND ISSUE
When the I'm trying to add Report Viewer (I'm logged as Portal administrator) and then select the report from web part settings, I'm getting:
Server was unable to process request. ---> The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
When I'm looking at the Event log in SharePointDB I see Anonymous login:

I would really appreciate any help!

Is there a control in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services similar to Crystal reports Designer control that can be embedded in third party applications that allows their user to design their own reports through the application.
Basically we are using the crystal control in our current software and are looking to move Microsoft reporting services
Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

I have a project with SQL sever reports in it. During a test upon returning to the VS 2013 Professional interface, the tool box area still had the previous information displayed and never returned to what should be there for the report design tools.I restarted VS, and the toolbox no longer looked like it did before. Specifically, the datatable tool among others was missing. I was unable to "refresh" the datatable after making changes to it.
I opened other Reports in design mode, and the tools did not show up for those either. The Report Items in the toolbox does contain things like Pointer, Text Box, Line and so forth.

I am a beginner with Report Designer (and with Reporting Services). Following the tutorials 'Adding parameters to filter Reports ...' I tried using the @symbol to add a parameter to my query: where code = @code_value...I get the error: ORA -000936 missing expression (msorlib) Is there another syntax that I should use to define a parameter/variable in query for my oracle dataset?

I have a couple of Power View reports that I cannot enable the data refresh schedule for. I cannot pinpoint what caused the schedule to stop working but the scheduled data refresh for these reports used to work and now they don't. Every time I try to enable a schedule the page submits and it seems like everything worked (no errors). However, when I go back to the schedule page for the report the Enable checkbox is unchecked. There are other Power View reports that are scheduled and running just fine. The only error I can track down in the SharePoint logs is this:
Failed to remove workbook tracking handle from collection for workbook
I've tried making a copy of the file and re-uploading with a different name but nothing changes. The user would really rather not recreate the report from scratch.

I have a SQL 2012 SP1 environment integrated with SharePoint 2013. I have deployed a Multi-Dimensional Cube, due to the need for role playing dimensions and numerous parent-child hierarchies that can't be 'flattened' out easily, it's for this reason that we have gone multi-dimensional, rather than tabular.
The issue I now face is trying to plot the data on a map in Power View. It has to via Longitude and Latitude or easting and northing if possible. I know if I use PowerPivot, I can query the MD Cube, get my dataset and make sure the model views the lat/long as coordinates and this method works just fine - however, it involves an extra step, the end user must pre-build their query in PowerPivot before they can use the Power View maps and adhoc analysis, this can create a lot of back and forth when refining your query or performing additional 'what if' analysis.
When I create the Report Data Source in SharePoint to connect directly to the MD Cube, rather than going through Power Pivot, it's able to connect, but does not recognise the lat and long fields as Latitude and longitude, nor will it let me manually drag it into the lat and long fields on the field list. If I drag them into the 'location' section, it does not plot correctly.
How to get Power View to plot Latitude and Longitude from a Multi-Dimensional Source without having to go through PowerPivot?

I'm looking to build a report that is basically a series of line charts that is plotting a value over time. Â I can accomplish this one chart/dataset at a time, but I believe with 'List's this can be achieved in a more automated fashion. If I have some data similar to this:
Area_ID, Location_Name, DataValue, ReadingDate
1,Site1,100,1990-10-10
1,Site1,110,1990-11-11
1,Site2,105,1994-01-07
1,Site2,105,1994-02-07
2,Site3,113,1994-06-02
2,Site3,120,1994-07-30
2,Site4,120,1994-06-30
2,Site4,120,1994-07-30
I want the charts grouped by the Area_ID, and then each Location_Name is a Series in that chart. Â So in this example, I would end up with 2 charts (Areas 1 & 2), each have 2 series (Area 1: Site1, Site2 and Area 2: Site3, Site4)Is it possible to build this with a list? or do I need to structure the data differently?

I have opened an account in [URL] and taken the 60 days trial for power bi pro. I've developed power pivot and generated power views in share point 2013. But, I'm new to Power BI desktop. I have created a report in power BI desktop and published to [URL]. Also, I have uploaded an excel file directly to [URL] and created the report from the workspace available there itself and pinned the report to dashboard also. Everything is fine till this. But, I need to refresh the file which I have uploaded. I have some dummy data in excel sheet.
ZipCode State ZipName
2345 AA AA
456 BB BB
6787 CC CC
This has been created as a table and then added to data model. So, power pivot has been created for the same. Then I have uploaded this file to [URL] site. But, I'm getting an error message while trying to schedule refresh for the same.
"You cannot schedule refresh for this dataset because it does not contain data model connections. You cannot schedule refresh on worksheet connections or linked tables. To schedule refresh the data must be loaded into the data model."
How can I create a data model connection? How can I schedule refresh for an excel file like this?

Hi,
I'm using SSRS 2005 which connects to SQL Server 2005. I need to pass Multi valus for single parameter...
E.g. Command type : Text
SELECT * FROM COUNTRY where CountryId IN ( @CountryID)
If i tried to preview using single parameter, it shows the record without any problem. However when i tried to put multi values, it gives error message?? I read somewhere which says, need to set to multivalue. But, i could not find the place to set the multi value option...
How to solve it?? Your suggestion/recommendations greatly appreciated.

I need to move specific files from a server to another server on a monthly basis. Â There are hundreds of files that are in the source directory and I need to move approximately 40 of those to the destination server. Â I would like to easily add or delete the file list as needed. Â I have seen where several variables were created for for each file name (and one for the path) and the ForEach Loop would go through them. Â With 40 or more I was thinking that I could make a connection to an Excel spreadsheet or text file with a record for each file name and read in and and move to the next record and make that value become the content of a "FileName" variable. Â Then if I wanted to add another file name I could just add another record to spreadsheet/text file or remove and the package would handle automatically....

Wondering if I could get some feedback from 'you All' on how you use the Reporting Services configuration files.
Specifically, I'm interested in -
1) Have you ever made changes to the configuration files? (Yes/No; if Yes - how often?)
2) What if any operations you commonly do in the files? (list)
3) Do you script or otherwise have automated solutions for updating these files? (Yes/No; if Yes - in what scenarios; if No - did you try to?)
Any other feedback about the configuration files is also welcome.
Thanks,

Hi,
I use the command line program rs.exe to create some exports in pdf format from a Reporting Services Server 2005. I sometimes have problems to open the export of one specific report. Acrobat Reader shows error 109, file corruption.
I used the option -l 0 to ensure that no timeout occurs.
I used the option -e mgmt2000 because I could not find the syntax for the new namespace in SSRS 2005.
The other reports use the completely same settings and everythings works perfectly.
This is the batch:
rs -i D:SSRSScripts
un_MyReport.rss -s http://myserver/reportserver -l 0 -e mgmt2000 -t -b
And this is the input file (run_MyReport.rss):
' Export report to pdf format to the specified path under filePath and to the file which is specified under fileN
Dim format as string = "PDF"
Dim filePath as String = "D:exportsReports2Send"
Dim fileN as String = "MyReport"
'Dim Datum as String = CString(Date)
Dim fileName as String = filePath + fileN + ".pdf"
Dim reportPath as String = "/MyFolder/MyReport"
Public Sub Main()
' Prepare Render arguments
Dim historyID as string = Nothing
Dim deviceInfo as string = Nothing
Dim showHide as string = Nothing
Dim results() as Byte
Dim encoding as string
Dim mimeType as string = "application/pdf"
Dim warnings() AS Warning = Nothing
Dim reportHistoryParameters() As ParameterValue = Nothing
Dim streamIDs() as string = Nothing
'Windows Credentials were send to Reporting server service
rs.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials
' Report Parameters
Dim parameters(0) As ParameterValue
results = rs.Render(reportPath, format, _
Nothing, Nothing, Nothing, _
Nothing, Nothing, encoding, mimeType, _
reportHistoryParameters, warnings, streamIDs)
' Open a file stream and write out the report
Dim stream As FileStream = File.OpenWrite(fileName)
stream.Write(results, 0, results.Length)
stream.Close()
End Sub
'End of script
Did anyone experience similar problems?
Best regards,
Stefoon

So I get the basics, have a script that can deploy a single report to a single server. I have other simple scripts that work as well. Now I want a script that can deploy a single report to multiple Sharepoint servers. I have about 30. I know we are probably doing this wrong, as in, we shouldn't be deploying the same report to 30 sites, as they are all all technically all on the same server however they are all independent site collections so as far as I know there is no way to deploy them to a central location and then link to them from each site.
So I tried to copy elements of my single report deploy script and duplicate the Sub Main() to Sub Main1() and Sub Main2() with multiple "ParentPath1" dims, yes I know I'm stupid. That obviously didn't work. So looking at some other scripts including my own subscription updater and I'm sure I need to do some kind of "For Each item in X" but where to start. The other lists I've seen all come from rs.Something. My list is just 30 variables in the script, how can I say for each site in this list, Publish this report?
Here's the simple script that works fine. I just don't know how to modify it to make it deploy this to multiple sites. After I figure that out, I was going to accept the challenge of deploying multiple reports to multiple sites in a single script...
Dim warnings As Warning() = Nothing
Dim parentFolder As String = "Reports"
Dim filePath As String = "filepath"
Dim reportName As String = "Report file name"
Dim parentPath As String = "Sharepoint site URL"
Public Sub Main()
[Code] ....
