In case of having only one host, is the <HostName> tag mandatory? I was not able to find more information regarding the xsd on which the configuration file is based. To be more specific, is it possible to define the PermittedHost like this or will this result in an error?
I have a report that gets sends out through a subscription and sometimes the report has multiple pages and all those pages appear within one email. Is it possible to set the subscription in such a way that an email is sent per page when the subscription executes.
Is there a way to subscribe SSRS report using dynamic parameters for email and trigger the report from autosys job so that report should generate the exact time the job is triggered.Let me describe, my SSRS report should be triggered on success of one autosys job. i need to send email parameter and time of report schedule from this autosys job.
I need to send a report to various email id based on parameters.
I have a report which has a dropdown which shows the list of parameters. I need to send report to 3 different email ids with different parameters. How to do that?
I installed 2K5 developer on my box. I was impressed with the Summary tab report functions and the reports available there. Then I ran the "Reporting services configuration" tool to get RS running, but now several of the summary reports are broken. There are several different error messages given in the summary window, depending on the report selected.
For example, the "server dashboard" now displays
Summary Unavailable
The information needed to display a summary page for the selected object is not available.
Error:
"sql_handle" is not a recognized table hints option. If it is intended as a parameter to a table-valued function, ensure that your database compatibility mode is set to 90.
The next two reports work, but the "Scheduler Health" report displays
Summary Unavailable
The information needed to display a summary page for the selected object is not available.
Error:
Incorrect syntax near '.'.
"Memory Consumption" works GREAT, but "Activity - All blocking transaction" shows:
Summary Unavailable
The information needed to display a summary page for the selected object is not available.
Error:
Incorrect syntax near '.'. Incorrect syntax near '.'. Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'as'. Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'as'.
What could be the cause of such errors? Is there an "easy fix"? I wouldn't know how to "unconfigure" reporting services and have a feeling that wouldn't help anyway...
When I opened "Reporting Service Configuration Manger" from SQL server configuration tool list, The "Report Server Installation Instance window came out. It showed my local machine name on the field of Machine Name. When I click "Find" button, a message box came out. It says: "No report server were found on the specified machine. Hi All, I want to deploy my reports in a Sharepoint site. So I need to change the Deployment mode from Native to Sharepoint Integrated mode. When go to Reporting Services Configuration and in Database Setup - the Server Mode option is not visible. Anyone help me what is the reason for this or How to get Server Mode option in Database Setup in Reporting Services Configuration menu. However the system installed with Sharepoint and SSRS SP2.
I have problem during first configuration of Reporting Services from MS SQL 2005 Server Express with Advanced Services SP2. The error occurs when configuring virtual directory (Reporting Services Configuration Manager -> Report Server Virtual Directory). When I try to create new virtual directory I can see following messages:
Number of errors: 0 Create Virtual Directory
The virtual directory was created and assigned. Changing Secure Connection Level
After last message Windows reports that SQL Server 2005 Reporting Configuration Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close (and I can send report to Microsoft).
IIS shows that virtual directory under default web site was created.
My environment: MS SQL Reporting Services Version 9.00.3042.00 Windows XP Proffessional SP2 IIS 5.1 all components are fresh new installations. The only additional configuration I've made was adding IWAM_<hostname> as WebServiceAccount, all other configuration is default.
I've SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 configured on my system, but now I'm NOT Able to start the report server. I get this error on http://<serverurl>/Reports/Home.aspx:

I don't want to loose any data. Please help me resolving this error.
FYI, I've modified the SQL Reporting Services account LogOnAs info, in Properties of "SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER)" Service, in Windows Service Managment.
Earlier I had .useraccount as username, I modified it to domainnameuseraccount. And then suddenlt everything broke for reporting server.
We have installed SQL Server 2005 with reporting services. When tried to open getting errors as below: how to avoid such errors See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Hi My project is in .NET 2003 i.e. framework 1.1 and database in SQLServer 2000. But the reports have been developed using SQLServer 2005 Reporting Services. Now when I am trying to deploy them through deployment project of .NET its giving me following error:"Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. Now I am really confused with this. Can any one please guide me regarding this ASAP. Thanks, Falguni
Hi, I'm having problems navigating from one report to another one if the second report has a multi-valued report parameter. When I navigate to the second report, I don't pass any parameters, but I get an error "parameter is missing a value" for the multi-valued report parameter. I have it setup as allow "multi-value" and "blank value". Any idea what the issue might be? Thanks.
I have a report which works fine with visual studio but when i uploaded the same into report server and tries to access it through IE or chrome or anything its dam slow.
I'm using SQL Express with Advance Services & I get this error when I try to deploy my reports. Why do I get this error
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)

I am new to reporting services. I am currently on the maintenance of few reports that are developed.
Any subscribed report I attempt to deliver via email is failing with a strange error.
"Failure sending mail: The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information."
I am not able to understand where this log file is stored..where can I find this? Please let me know.. and if someone has faced this error before then what could be the reason? I am using SQL Server 2005 on Windows Server 2003 R2 standard edition.
I am getting the following error when I set up a subscription, I am able to send smtp messages from the same server using a winclient, I also made sure that the user that runs the RS service is the same as the winclient.
Read all the ms docs about setting the email settings, have tried quite a lot of them, but for some reason i have been getting the following error. Just unable to bypass this!
I wonder if someone has had a similar exp.
Failure sending mail: The server rejected the sender address. The server response was: 454 5.7.3 Client does not have permission to Send As this sender
Installing a local SMTP might not work as our polocies are to run smtp from exchange.
Hi, this question is related to Reporting Services on SQL Server 2000. When creating a report and setting it to send via email as an attached excel spreadsheet, the email is in the format HTML. Does anyone know if it possible to default this format to something else like Rich Text. I have a feeling that this might involve a change to the RSEmailDPConfiguration within the RSReportServer.config file but am not sure which tag needs changing or adding.
I currently have a report on our Reporting Services 2005 server that takes a CompanyID as its only parameter. Also, in our database, we have a list of contacts that are linked to the CompanyID that is used in the report. What I would like to do is email a pdf or each company's report to every contact for that company in our database daily. However I am stuck on how to do that. My project is using C#, but if there is a way to do this directly through Reporting Services I could do that as well. If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
obviously until I get this sorted I cannot deploy my reports

Can someone tell me what I should be checking please?
I just moved our SSRS server from one machine to another. It was sending our report emails from a service account. So when my end users get the emailed report it was from a service account (reports@blah.com) .
Now that I moved the DB to another server - the reports get emailed successfully - but they are being sent from my email address!
I have checked the rsreportserver config file. I also checked in the report server smtp setup and they both show the service account. I even checked the subscription owners and accounts.
SSRS is using my account, but I can't find where it's getting it from. Where else can I look?
I am installing sql server 2005 reporting services on server running sql server 2005. I get to the reporting services configuration page and configure... report server virtual directory report manager virtual directory windows service identity web service identity database setup encryption keys when I get to Initialization the button is grey and inactive so I can't initialize reporting services, Do I need to restart server?
I am trying to configure reporting services using the Configuration Tool. I get all checks green except for Encryption Keys (Blue), Initialization (Grey), and Email Settings and Execution Account (both Yellow). I am not too worried about the yellow and blue ones because I have read that other people have the same, but I was wondering how to make Initialization available to configure. I am running SQL Server 2005 - Standard Edition.
In Sql Reporting Services 2005 (This is bolded because this same error is all over the web for Sql Reporting Services 2000 and thats not where my problem lies) I schedule a report to be emailed. However when the delivery extensions Deliver method is called I get the following error

I've set up my smtp as out domain email smtp, given the accounts all the permissions I could (Even going to far as to give Everyone permissions everywhere) Currently my IIS, SQL 2005 and reporting Services 2005 as well as my local SMTP is running on the local machine account.
I cannot seem to get it to work, or even give me a different error.
Could anybody please tell me what needs permission where and what settings I need to have set up for this not to happen.
Some extra information

Studied few blogs that related it to agent service running under local system account, on my machine it was running on NT/NetworkService change it to Administrator of local Machine. Did same change for Database Engine of Service of SQL Instance.
FYI- My Machine is not in Domain, so used local administrator for giving rights to service mentioned above.

I've been doing all I could think of: reinstall the whole SQL server and its services; stop and restart SQL server service and Reporting service.
It could be my SQL version has a problem...not sure....
I could not think of anything else.
If you have any thoughts about it, please do reply.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated. Thank you...
Hi All - I am trying to configure reporting services on virtual machine but unable to succeed. I never touched this topic before SQL Server 2005. The left hand side options in Reporting Services Configuration Manager such as Server Status, Virtual Directories, Web Identity works fine but it fails in Database Setup section Here are the details: AppServer: SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services & Client components build# 2153 (with SP1 & SP1 hotfix) going to apply SP2 and Add-on component after the configuration DBServer: SQL Server 2005 Database Services & Client components build# 2153 (with SP1 & SP1 hotfix) OS: Windows 2003 Server with SP1 IIS version on AppServer: 6
I have SQL 2005 Reporting services and 2005 Database Engine on 2 different machines.
Here is the error message I am receiving when I try to apply the script in "Database Setup" section of Reporting Services Configuration Manager It did not log any errors in SQL Server however it shows a warning message in Event Log Event Log message - "The RSReportServer.config file has been modified."
Configuration Manager error message - It shows me "Create a Grants Rights Script" task failed "System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo) at System.Management.ManagementScope.InitializeGuts(Object o) at System.Management.ManagementScope.Initialize() at System.Management.ManagementObjectSearcher.Initialize() at System.Management.ManagementObjectSearcher.Get() at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.WebUtil.GetIPAddresses(String machine) at ReportServicesConfigUI.Panels.DatabaseSetupPanel.IsLocalDbServer(String dbServer) at ReportServicesConfigUI.Panels.DatabaseSetupPanel.SetDatabaseConnectionTask(String connectionString, String server, String database, ConfigurationCredentialsType credsType, String account, String password, Boolean upgrade, String dbVersion)"
I have captured the screenshot, let me know if I can send this.
One of my friends suggested the following and I have tried the first option but could not work - Option I) Our account that is used for database connection should have 1) public and RSExecRole roles for the ReportServerDatabase. 2) RSExecRole roles for the master, msdb , and ReportServerTempDB databases.
Else - Option II) we can run the Reporting Service Windows Service under the local System Account and then the credentials type for the database set up would be Service credentials. This way we would have more permission.
Did anyone face this problem? how should I resolve this?
Anyone have steps to follow as I feel of missing something in the configuration steps? Any information/ suggestions/ pointer on this are higly appreciated.
I've installed SQL 2005 on a Windows 2003 R2 Server, I also installed another Web Server (Another Windows 2003 R2 Server) on a different machine. I've installed the Reporting Services on the Web Server. When I am trying to configure the report server, I successfully created the Virtual Directories, but when trying to do the "Database Setup" step, I am getting an error on the "Create a Grants Rights Script", with this message:
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo) at System.Management.ManagementScope.InitializeGuts(Object o) at System.Management.ManagementScope.Initialize() at System.Management.ManagementObjectSearcher.Initialize() at System.Management.ManagementObjectSearcher.Get() at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.WebUtil.GetIPAddresses(String machine) at ReportServicesConfigUI.Panels.DatabaseSetupPanel.IsLocalDbServer(String dbServer) at ReportServicesConfigUI.Panels.DatabaseSetupPanel.SetDatabaseConnectionTask(String connectionString, String server, String database, ConfigurationCredentialsType credsType, String account, String password, Boolean upgrade, String dbVersion)
As a result, I cannot run the reports nor get to the folder.aspx page on the manager side of the application. I am getting this HTML msg: The report server installation is not initialized. (rsReportServerNotActivated) (rsRPCError) Get Online Help
When installing the Reporing Server on the SQL Server machine, it works with no problems, and I am doing everything the same.
Would appreciate your help, I've been working on this for few days with no luck.
I've got an error when I want to initialize the Report Server by means of RS Configuration Manager.

When I want to browse the report this error occured:
