We are showing hovering data in the report. When we hover the pointer of the mouse over cell, it shows the data. But when we export the report in excel, hover functionality is not working in exported report. Finding the solution to ensure hovering should work in the exported excel report.

Hi All,
For developing a report I'm using SQL Server 2000 with SP4 & MS Visual Studio .Net 2003. After expoting a report in excel format file, the size of the excel file is so much big that while openning the report file it seemed to be hanged the PC.
Is there any way to reduce the size of the excel in reporting services?

A space was added as the first character of the contents in the Left, Center and Right section of the Report Header and Footer exported to Excel. Example :
In the RDL, Header values are:
Left = "Product Report" ; Center = "Confidential" ; Right = "Page n of n"
In the exported report to Excel, Header properties (-->File.-->Page Setup--> Header/Footer Tab) are:
Left = " Product Report" ; Center = " Confidential" ; Right = " Page n of n"
Is there a way to eliminate that space character?
Thanks in advance.

I have a report in SSRS2012. It was copied from SSRS2005 quite recently, as we have upgraded. The SQL developer said that it didn't need any code changes, as he had some kind of tool to test code problems between the two versions. The report has a table, with 5 row groups, and one detail row. The table is setup as follows:
Name Sales Costs Profit
Group1
Group2
Group3
Group4
Group5
DetailsRow
When I run this report using the Report Manager website from SSRS2005, and then export to Excel 2013, I get the 6 row groups in Excel, no problem whatsoever. I can drill into each group in Excel, using the group drilldown column on the left hand side. This works the same as the Report Manager website.
If I run the exact same report from the Report Manager website in SSRS2012, the Report Manager result is the same as SSRS2005 - all the row groups are present, and the drilldown works fine. However, the export to Excel has issues with the groups. There are only 3 row groups showing in Excel, along with a column group added for no apparent reason.
Drilling into each group shows inconsistent details, and there is no apparent logic as to what is shown within each group. I should also mention, that this issue with groups is seen on all my reports which have groups, not just this report.

I'm currently using Sql server 2005 Reporting Services. I'm trying to take data and fill in a form that I'm making a background image. When I go to preview all the textboxes filled with data align with the fields in the background image form. When I go to print they are off by a inch or so horizontally. Can anyone help me on this topic.

I have a tried two different reports one with table and the other without The last textbox in both reports contains enough text which should fill half of first page and half of second page. In both reports the print preview and export to PDF keeps the first page blank and puts all the data in the second page. It appears that the textbox control doesn't know when to place a pagebreak when in print preview and export to PDF. The rdl file has no pagebreaks defined anywhere. Thanks in advance for your help!

I wrote a report today containing one grouping. Everything appears all right in the report preview, except that every other page is "blank", i.e., shows only the page header and page footer; all grouping and detail information is missing.
The data on the page following the blank page seems to pick up where the previous non-blank page left off, so all information seems to be present within the report.The report width and height properties are typical portrait-style -- 8.5 x 11 inches. The columns do not "run off the edge" of the report page boundary. I haven't selected any page break for the grouping, as the grouping detail is typically only a few rows long, and would otherwise result in a very large number of pages.

We are about to implement SSRS reports (SQL Server 2012), and have found one issue we don't like. The report looks great when we open it in pdf format. However, when we open it in Excel format, we want it to be the raw data, not look like the pdf report. I tried the simpl headers, and that removed the page header/footer. However, the report format was still in play.In other words, we would like the report when opened in Excel, to look just like it does when we open it as a CSV.I have tried to modify the config file a couple of times. Here is my latest attempt:
Extension Name="CSV" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
<OverrideNames>
<Name Language="en-US">CSV (comma delimited)</Name>
</OverrideNames>
</Extension>
<Extension Name="CSV" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
<OverrideNames>
<Name Language="en-US">Excel (csv)</Name>
</OverrideNames>
</Extension>
Essentially I have set Visible = "false" for the Excel type, and tried to duplicate the CSV, changing the name to make it look to the user like it is "Excel". This fails. I checked the event viewer, and I see two entries.. The RSReportServer.config file has been modified. (Information)The value for UrlRoot in RSReportServer.config is not valid. The default value will be used instead.I literally took the file, opened it in Notepad, pasted in my changes, from another notepad window, and tried to run the report. I did not see EITHER of the two names I expected, using the OverrideNames tag. As I said earlier, I was able to affect the outcome, by setting SimpleHeaders to true (or however it is identified). That did work in that the page header and footer was removed.

I build a tablix A in SSRS, which contains a tablix B and a textbox C. When the report is exported to word, I found that there is white space between the tablix B and textbox C if the row of tablix B is spilled over to next page.
If I export the report to PDF, the white space issue is gone.

Hi SSRS Experts
I'm trying to create a report using a SAP BI InfoCube as my datasource.
One of the fields in the InfoCube (GL Account) consist of a 3 level hierarchy, which need to be reported on.
The query that I built using QueryBuilder executes fine and displays the hierarchies correctly, but when I preview the report, i get the following error:
An error occurred during local report processing
An error has occurred during report processing
Query execution failed for data set "SAPBWD"
The "0GL_ACCOUNT 1000IE" Object was not found.
0GL_ACCOUNT is the GL account field to report on
1000IE is the selected GL Account Hierarchy to be displayed
Here's the query that was generated using query builder:
SELECT NON EMPTY { [Measures].[D2A3Y7ANS9YOF2FONXMUS9RAI] } ON COLUMNS, NON EMPTY {[0GL_ACCOUNT 1000IE].[LEVEL03].ALLMEMBERS * [ZF_MC].[LEVEL01].ALLMEMBERS } DIMENSION PROPERTIES MEMBER_CAPTION, MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAME ON ROWS FROM [ZFGL_M03/ZREP_BOR001] CELL PROPERTIES VALUE, BACK_COLOR, FORE_COLOR, FORMATTED_VALUE, FORMAT_STRING SAP VARIABLES [ZFV_FY] INCLUDING [0FISCYEAR].[Z12007] [ZFV_PC] INCLUDING [0PROFIT_CTR 1000FS].[10000001000033] [ZFV_RM] INCLUDING [0FISCPER3].[005] [ZFV_PV] INCLUDING [0VERSION].[003]
I hope you would be able to assist.
Kind Regards

Hi everybody,
I'm quite new in Reporting Services and have the following problem:
I created a report which is getting its data from 5 different databases. For every database I made a subreport to get the data. In the preview and on the Reporting Server all the data is displayed find. Now I want to export the report to an Excel sheet which does work. But where the data from the subreports is to be shown it just says that subreports in table-cells has been ignored.
Another problem is that the way the report looks in the preview is fine - on the reporting server the columns are far to wide. I allready marked that the width should be fixed.
Some more information: in the main report some cells are merged. In these merged cells is the data from the subreport to be shown. The subreport displays the data in a table which has exact the same amount of colums (and the same size) the cells in the main report had before merging.
Thanks in advance,
Steph

In Visual Studio, when previewing a report with a footer that has two rows of text, the footer appears to display correctly. When I export to Word, the footer for the first page looks as if it has shifted down slightly and the second line is missing. Subsequent pages show the footer correctly.

Hi there,
I'm working on an invoice report, that requires borders around the whole report. I've got header, footer and body in the report. In the body section, i've got a table which shows line items for an invoice. So the table grows as per the no. of lines in the invoice. As said before I've got to have border around the report. I tried put info in ractangles with borders for header/footer and table with borders in body section. The borders appears fine for headers and footer ractangles but as the table grows/shrinks, border from body section is not continuous to the footer section. i.e. For an invoice with 2 line items the borders for table will appear for two lines only but i want it to be scratched up to the footer area regardless of no. of line items in the invoice.
I've also tried to use borders for header, footer and body sections itself rather than using ractangles. But then when i export the report to pdf and print from pdf, it looks fine but when i tried to print from report manger its missing right hand side border for page header, footer and body. I've made sure there is enough margin around report. Report body/header/footer are 19 cm wide that's mean the report still have 2 cm of space for margins. The left/right margin are 0.5 cm.
I've been trying to do various things for last 2 weeks but not getting anywhere. Can i anyone please help into this?
Thanks,
Vivek

Report in question is an invoice form. It requires an absolutely bottom-of-page aligned footer that has databound elements. This is so that whatever page that footer finally appears on will print in such a way that the address will align in a windowed envelope. Ironically, Books Online gives this exact scenario in explaining headers and footers in SSRS, but they cleverly don't explain how an absolutely bottom-of-page-aligned and data-bound footer can be made to happen. Headers at absolute page top is obviously no problem. Footers at page bottom, not so much.So, this is not a "page footer"--page footers are employed in the body. Also this footer is databound, so a page footer as it's known in SSRS is out the window anyway.
Most of the time this will print on a single page, but if it breaks to multiple pages, that footer needs to go all the way to the absolute bottom.I grasp that the "report footer" for SSRS is just what appears at the end of any repeating controls that you've implemented in your body. Because SSRS uses this kind of repeating-control based idiom rather than a section-based idiom as Crystal does, this kind of (what I would consider very basic) positioning control is looking fairly impossible right now.Among what I've tried:
--Page footer (can't; databound)
--Specifying a page break after the pre-footer controls, and/or a page break before the controls that make up the footer in their properties. This leads to unpredictable results with blank printed pages (as many as 8 for what previews as a 2-page report, how silly is that?).
--Putting in a page-height rectangle as part of the footer (with and without the page breaks mentioned above), with the idea of forcing a basically blank page at the end of the report so that the footer will go to the bottom. SSRS will go ahead and break the page anyway on long elements like that, which again leads to the "footer" being printed in the middle or top of the final page, or whereever it happens to fall.
I may be having to explain to my client that you can't get there from here, and they may have to redesign their report.

There is a multi value parameter called "include" in the report where "Allow Multiple Values" is checked and it has 4 Available values as shown in the attached screen shots and preview of the report is also shown .There is no data set for this parameter and the values will get displayed on the report based on the visibility condition set in the report.Example : If first value is selected then 1 is passed and based on the visibility condition set in the report - the report output is displayed.None is default value and has value 4 and when the report is run with this option i.e. "None" then rest three parameter values are not applicable .
Requirement :
-When the end user selects (Select All) Check box then (None)
-check box must be disabled or must not appear for selection for the end user
-When the end user selects check boxes either of the first three except None then also None check box must be disabled or must not appear for -selection for the end user
-when the end user selects a combination of first three then also None check box must be disabled or must not appear for selection for the end user
-The None is set as default with a value as 4 and is applicable only when the user does not select either of the first three values and the report will run.

I have a package which has an Excel source with the 'Data access mode' set to SQL command and then a sql select statement. When I try and hit the 'Preview...' button below the 'SQL command text' window I get the following error:
"Error at Standard Data Flow Tasks [source tasks name]: No column information was returned by the SQL command"
Ordinarily this would be down to the fact that my SQL is shocking, I hit the 'Preview...' button whilst the workbook the source is pointing at was open and it works fine??
I can't figure this out, but needless to say the package errors with a NEEDSNEWMETADATA when I try and run it.

We have the customer requirement to display the footer of a SSRS Report fixed at the absolute bottom of a DIN A4 format page. The footer contains information like company address and stuff.
I searched quite a while on this topic and only found workarounds for SQL Server 2005 with Custom Code in the SSRS Report to calculate the size of the body content and then insert some empty lines to get the space needed to push the footer to the bottom of the page. But this won't work in SQL Server 2012. And I wasn't able to figure out how to achieve this yet.

In a new ssrs 2008 report that uses sql server 2012, I am suppose to create a report that prints on both sides of the same paper. The first side of the report will display custom data with a mailing address for the customer.
The second side (back side of the paper) will contain generic information. The second side of the paper will contain areas for the users within my large company to fill out and return to the user via inter-office mail.
Thus my question is can this happen in an SSRS 2008 report to print in a PDF and/or Word document on both sides of the paper? If this is possible would you tell me if the paper needs to be exported to PDF, Word, or if this can on both format(s)? If so, any reference how to accomplish this goal?
If this is not possible in SSRS 2008, is printing on both sides of the paper possible in ssrs 2008 r2 or ssrs 2012?
What version of ssrs report would work, and if the print (export) needs to be a PDF, Word, or either format?

Hello,
I am new to this sql server reporting server technology. I have a requirement like the table header should repeat in all pages of the exported excel's print preview. So I have created the header columns with fixed lenths as same as table's header in the page header of the report. Then only the Header will repeat in all pages of the print preview.
But the problem is when doing like this, many of the columns have been merged together. The report layout is ok. But cant sort the data. It says a message "This operation requires the merged cells to be identically sized."
In some forms i have found the header control's edges need to be sized identically with the tables' columns edges. I did it. But still the columns are merged when exporting.
Please help me out from this.
Thanks in advance.

As most are aware by now, the Report Viewer controls for reporting services in 12.0 and prior rely on ActiveX to work. This causes compatibility issues for any non-IE browser, and as of IE11 and now Windows 10 Edge browser it's causing issues for even IE. Research suggests that SSRS 2014 switched out to Silverlight:
[URL]
However, Silverlight uses NPAPI which is another technology for which all browsers are ending support. As of this writing, Chrome has already ended support. Similarly/Coincidentally Java support is ending as well.
My question is, what are Microsoft's plan to restore functionality such as print/search for browsers where ActiveX/Silverlight cannot be used since this support is no longer strictly a 3rd party browser situation?
