We have recently upgraded to SP1 of SSRS 2008. As a result, when we export a blank report to CSV, we now get a line of commas below the headings. Or found a way to not include the commas?

I have the multiple pages with in the report. For Example,
1. Dashboard Page
2. Risk Summary Page
3. Issues Summary Page
4. Key Summary Page
I am using the rectangle for the physical page break and set the page break option as "Add a page break after" for each rectangle except for the last key summary page in the RDL
Other Report details
Report Paper Size is A4, Landscape, Width = 29.7cm, Height = 21cm
Report Margins - Left=0.2cm, Right=0.2cm, Top=0.25cm, Bottom=0.25cm
Rectangle size in the report body in each page as
Width=28.7cm, Height=17.5cm,
Header Height= 2cm
Footer Height = 1cm
Now, the issue is when I add the Tablix with the rectangle to display the details data, it also adds the blank page after the page and when I remove the Tablix and only keep the graphs within the rectangle then blank page issue get fixed.
I have a set of SSRS reports published on the server. It can be accessed through a web application or through SharePoint. Most of the reports work fine through both - web app and SharePoint. However, one of the report, which returns large amount of data has some problem:
1. It generates fine from web app
2. It generates fine from SharePoint; only if one or two values selected from Filter dropdown
3. However, if all items (about 20 items) selected from Filter dropdown... and click on View Report, it processes for a while and then shows nothing. The page remains blank.
Did some research and felt the problem is with Distributed Cache Service.
Tried restarting it; tried changing SPDistributedCacheClientSetting settings - requestTimeout, channelOpenTimeout... but didn't work.
I checked Event Viewer logs, SharePoint logs and SSRS logs but couldn't find any relevant error messages.
We're migrating from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008. We use itextsharp (a pdf processing library) to merge different PDF outputs into one large PDF file. This was working brilliantly in SSRS 2005, but in SSRS 2008, itextsharp *can* open and parse the PDF, but itext sees the "content" section of the PDF pages as blank. So, the resulting composite PDF ends up being a series of blank pages. Acrobat 9 and a couple other PDF tools (tested linux Evince and win GIMP) seem to be able to open the SSRS 2008-generated PDF fine, but the java-version of itext, and the .net version of itext (itextsharp) see nothing but blanks.So, I realize this points to a problem with itext, but I'm curious if merging PDFS outputed from SSRS 2008, and what PDF tools/libraries they are using.

The customer has the ability to export as PDF, and I suggested that, but before I tell them there's no easy solution, I wanted to get input from other Reporting Services folks.
I have a ssrs report having 2 tables in with 4 columns in each. When I go to export option in preview I can see all data coming in one excel sheet, But I am trying to get 2 tables in 2 different pages in Excel when I export.First page of excel comes with first table data with 4 columns and second page of excel comes with second table data with 4 columns .

I am having difficulty in exporting a report to Excel that has drill-down grouping created in SSRS 2008 R2. I can export with the report expanded or with just the summary and both look fine, but when it gets to Excel it looses the toggle ability which I need for it to retain.

The detail rows which follow have 24 columns. The data in the summary row is "static" except for a date, a count of detail rows, and a total amount due based on the detail rows that follow. I've been able to get the report itself to render correctly in Visual Studio or from a browser using several different approaches but they all fail in one way or another when I try to save it as a CSV (eg, a header is prepended to each detail so they end up side by side, header and detail end up with extra columns, etc).
I need to export the SSRS report into PDF using Image click in addition to out of the box available Export option.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a report with 2 tablixes, both the tablixes can be hidden based on the parameter selection. The 1st tablix has a drill through action on one of the columns, that calls the 2nd tablix in the SAME report. Once you click on the drill through, the 1st tablix is no longer visible, only the 2nd one is.
The report is working fine, until you export it to CSV file. Once you are on the 2nd tablix (1st one is NOT visible at this time in the report), and then when you export it to CSV, BOTH, the 1st tablix as well as 2nd tablix are visible in the CSV file. Why does the 1st tablix come up in CSV IF you just exported 2nd tablix to CSV?
Is there a workaround to NOT show the parent/1st tablix at all if the 2nd tablix is exported? Excel works fine!I know sub-reports instead of multiple tablixes might solve this issue.
I have what seems to be a common problem where I have names like "Last, First" that I need to be able to select using a multi-value parameter, which of course, SSRS passes as comma-delimited and gets messed up. I need to find a way to use a different delimiter or pass CHAR(44) instead of the comma, or something. Even worse, some people have suffixes and multiple commas in one name!

I have a SSRS 2012 report which have few columns with long text. They appear good when viewed in browser. However, when I export it to excel data is shrinking. How can I avoid the data shrinking in excel.

If I use the default Textbox in SSRS 2008 Report Designer, I get all the RTF formating characters, which makes for a VERY ugly report.Is there another control I can place on my report that will take the RTF formated text and display it properly? I have two different dataset in one Report, Each Dataset result is binded to a different Table component.
When I export as Excel ,I am getting all this in One Excel sheet.
I need this in separate excel, as dataset1 in excel1 and dataset2 in excel2.
I have the SQL code for one of the select list columns as shown below in the SSRS Data set query level.
Example : Select IsNUll(max(ET.[# Utilizations by Utilization Method]),0) as [Employee Period Total]

The above code when run in SQL displays correctly with zeroes if NULL values are available from the Source tables.Now at the SSRS Report level design I have grouped with more than one values.Even at the expression I have given =Fields!Employee_YTD_Total.Value but report output displays blank In order to evaluate 0 from the SQL result set I even tried equating the values to 0 like = Iif(Fields!Employee_YTD_Total.Value = 0 ,0,Fields!Employee_YTD_Total.Value) but still the report outputs is blank.
Issue/Query : Why it displays blank and I should have this as 0 in the report output to eliminate blank as this would be not appropriate to the end users to validate. What has to be changed either at the SSRS level or at the SQL level.
When a user runs the report after a minute or 3 the user gets a timeout message, if an administrator runs te same report he will get the results. No errors in log. report timeout on 1800 seconds

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using SSRS 2008 and the reports we have use parameters of type Date/Time. The reports work well when the parameter values are entered correctly.
When entering an invalid date format for one of the Date/Time parameters the following error is displayed "The value provided for the report '<parameter name>' is not valid for its type. (rsReportParameterTypeMismatch). This seems to be working correctly as well. However, when the correct date format is then entered for the report parameter for which the report threw an error, the error persists and the report doesn't run again. Setting the parameter to "NULL" doesn't work either.
The only way to get the report to run again is to refresh the entire report. Of course, if at that point one has entered a bunch of other parameter values, those values all disappear.
Created Prod order status report, in status, we have different status
created =0
start =4
released =3
reported as finished =5
ended =7
I have the report, in report don't want to show the Prod order for ended status, how can I add the filter for this so it can show for all the other status not ended status. when I did on filter <7 , it did not work
I have a parameter that chooses its available items from a query (with a label and a value column). I set the default for the parameter to the a particular value.
It works in Preview from design mode, but when I deploy it and run the report, it does not set the default.

query is running well and data is coming correctly if I run this on Query designer.and date format must be YYYY-MM-DD.but when I try to run through on run time then the date control is showing format dd/mm/yyyy.
I change the regional settings of windows and SharePoint site to English(United States). and when I select date control it is also putting date in format like "YYYY-MM-DD'. and in that format report is working well in Query designer view.But on run time still it is not working.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have created a new SSRS Server and done all of the basic security setup for the site but I am having trouble with client machine access...At first I had an issue with being able to access report manager from any client and ended up having to shut off windows authentication on the client IE settings to get it to work. Now I am trying to run Report Builder from a client machine and it will not download. The client machine is on the same domain and my user id is set as an administrator within SSRS and as a local admin on the 2008 server.
I had the thought that without windows auth in the browser maybe it can't permit me access to the application but if I turn it on I can't get to it to download it. I have set Full Control rights to the folder as well. Most of the info out there is for 2005 and that uses IIS to host the pages where as 2008 does not. Here is the details of the error:

I'll go to a dataset, open up the query designer, add a new parameter, then refresh the fields, but the parameter won't be added as a report parameter. If I go to the dataset properties under the list of parameters, the value in the dropdown will be blank. However, sometimes this will automatically add.
Is this a bug in Visual Studio? How do I get around this?
How can I insert a blank row in a report after every change in date; e.g.I have row groups.
