I have tried two methods to get the above XML format.
1. Modified XML Nodes - Created a stored procedure which returns the required informations from database. To get the XML format I have modified XML Nodes using DataElementName property from SSRS. I have added the
following code in rsreportserver.
<Extension Name="Custom XML" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.XmlDataReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
<OverrideNames>

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Report Name="POExportToGermany">

Here the format is not in the expected format.
2. Using Stored Procedure:- Using Stored procedure I am able to create the expected XML format.
When i click on this link I can see the data in expected XML format. But the problem is I am not able to show this data in report. Dataset is showing the above .XML as given below. How can I generate report using SSRS with expected XML format? What are the procedures to get the above XML format.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a image in SSRS which is of PNG in format. when I preview the image it is coming as expected but if I export that to PDF the image is having the black color back ground. One more point to be noted here is my actual image file is having a small shading in it which is not visible properly, but the same back ground is coming with full black color line in the PDF form.
Another issue is : I have 3 sub reports in my SSRS report. In the preview I can see the data is coming in order of sub reports but if I export it to PDF the second sub-report data is coming at the end of the report and first and 3rd sub reports are fine. But If I have only one record for 2nd sub-report the order is same in both the Preview page as well as in the PDF format.
Below is list of Date/Time which is my output in SQL Management Studio. When I move this into SSRS and use the DateTime custom function it shows the the Date/Time correctly if there is a time element. However it's defaulting the 00:00:00.000 to 12:00:00 PM which is incorrect.
I would like the SSRS to show as Format dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm but still show the 00:00 element.

I am using SSRS 2008 R2 and have a report set up on a subscription to be exported to a .TXT file and placed in a network drive folder. The report generates as it should and is placed in the network folder as it should and the file format is .TXT. However, when the text file is uploaded to an ftp site, the results of the very first record within the system the file is uploaded to, has 3 weird leading characters.
But the rest of the records are imported perfectly, as they should be. The system that the file is being uploaded into is not our system, it is a system at a USA Today Newspaper office and is an IBM iSeries server with the programming language of LANSA (Never heard of it).
I have edited the report server configuration file to give the ability to export the report to a .TXT file format and I have included the code snippet on here. Maybe I have missed something, not sure. I have also included the screenshot of the file upload results that were sent to me by USA Today. Is there anything I can do to get those 3 characters to not show up in the first record?

I have a problem with my reports in SSRS 2012,
I have numeric values in database(10.23) but when load this values in a report, I see: 10,23 instead 10.23
The regional configuration of server is: Spanish-Peru. Why the report show the value: 10,23 I don't put any regional configuration in the report...
I am trying to use this command to change the variable in where clause each time:
psexec servername -E cmd.EXE /c "sqlcmd -S servername /E -d dbname -v entertext="'%anything%'" -i c:myfoldermyscript.sql -o c:mypathoutput.sql"
myscript.sql is like:
select * from table_name
where summary like $(entertext);
This command works just for variables with single and exact word. It does not work for variables which has space between them or when I enter part of summary.In fact, I wanted to write something which the user be able to enter variable each time when he/she run this batch file. because I put this sqlcmd command in batch file( like this in oracle: "select * from table_name where summary = &entertext; " I was looking the same command in sql server , but I did not find it). I do not know .net or any other programing language( I know just csh and command line). I want to do this just with sql command.
I have doubt In ssrs while doing report like If We have Amount Column In a Table, then I want to display amount in letters Format.
Ex: 5000 /- Now I want to display Amount As Five Thousand Rupees Only.
I am using the following expression to place the month in the heading of a column.
=MonthName(Month(DateAdd("M",-1,Now)))
The expression above gives me the previous month, but I need to have it as "Jan", not "January".
expression that will give me the three character month name instead of the full month. I've tried substituting the "M" with "MMM", but get an error. I've also tried "Mon", but again, I
get an error.
I am design a tablix report where i have proper row grouping but when i am trying to column grouping also unable to fetch proper design...design what exactly i am trying.

I'm trying to add a custom report format to ssrs 2005 as per this [URL] I've added the code snippets in the example to three different ssrs 2005 server RSReportServer.config files but it does not work i.e do not show up in the export drop down when rendering report.
I've tried starting and stopping reporting services and it still does not works.
I've also modified the existing csv extension with different options to see if it works but to no avail.However it works with SSRS2008 R2 . In fact it works right after I saved the config file, no restart needed.For SSRS2005 the file is in C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.3Reporting ServicesReportServer. I checked the registry setting just to make sure I'm looking at the correct installation 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE', 'SOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft SQL Server90ToolsClientSetup', 'SQLPath' The three ssrs2005 instances are in three different physical servers and the problem is with all of them so it is not an isolated incident. I've dbowner rights to all three servers. The server versions are 9.0.4060, 9.0.4035 and 9.0.4053
We are using SSRS 2012. We have a report that conditionally formats a background color for some cells. The report renders properly in a browser and in Excel 2003 format. In Excel format all cells after the first one that meets the condition are highlighted, even if only one cell should.
The sample expression that triggers this condition looks like this:
=IIF(Fields!VIOL_NOTE.Value="Internal","Green","No Color")
All cells after the first one that meets the condition Fields!VIOL_NOTE.Value="Internal" have a green background.
Excel 2003 (proper) results:
Excel (improper) results:
Currently we are using Custom Delivery Extension for SSRS 2008R2 We are planning to move it SSRS2012
My Question is: Whether we can use the same Code used for SSRS2008R2 to SSRS2012?
if not what code changes we should do?
Is there any way to get the report toolbar using SOAP Api in SSRS reporting.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe've got a requirement to build the real time report. user can browse report at any point of time and need to see the latest data(stock market) in the report.
I've few options down...
1. Directly point to OLTP database as source and write stored procedure to show result set.
2. Replicate the database and write the SP's to reports. To avoid pointing directly to OLTP db.
3. To build the datawarehouse with dim & facts to show it in reports. I prefer this as a standard method, but this would have some latency depending on trasaction load which will differ from the requirement.
We built our prod server [vm] with SQL Server 2008 R2 on Server 2008 R2. It works nicely. Then we made a copy of the VM and renamed it (so our test environment would be IDENTICAL to production). After that, SSRS was broken: I get "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable." I can't connect via http, or SSMS.
We have tried:
* Running SSRS config tool (several times)
* Running with/without the IIS Server Role
* Dropping & recreating the SSRS keys
* Recreating the ReportServer database, etc
* Checking all of the accounts, permissions, etc
* Running SQL Repair
* Going through the registry to fix any references to the machine's old name
* Uninstalling, reinstalling SSRS
* Completely uninstalling ALL of the parts of SQL Server 2008 R2, deleting all directories, removing references to SQL Server from the registry, rebooting, reinstalling everything.
None of this has worked. SSRS [R2] is still 503 on our test box.
the SSRS [NT] service seems to run, without error. The Event Viewer doesn't seem to be recording any errors. The SSRS logs say that the default URL is wrong, but we get the same error in Prod, and Prod works fine. The other SQL Logs say something about not being able to contact the service. However, as I said, the [NT] service seems to be working fine.
i have 4 SSRS reports. each report must be scheduled to run at different time and then send the send the reports in txt format (tab delimited) to a ftp server .I am new to SSIS and SSRS.

I manually build my url for my reports. In the url I build, I can specify the output format I would like it to automatically use when the report opens. However, it always first opens the dialog box to either Save, Open, or Cancel. Is there anyway to bypass this and just open it in the format I have coded in the url? Thanks.

Firstly sorry if this already exists but I can't find it the answer anywhere.
I'm running Visual Studio 2005 Reporting Service. I have a SQL query which is reutrning a count of second which I need to display in HHH:MMS format.
integer value = 144322 which is displaying as 16:05:22 or 02/01/1900 16::05
the end result needs to be 40:05:22
It is quite visable what SQL is doing but I am having big issues around how to reach the result.
Any help much appreciated.

Hi, this question is related to Reporting Services on SQL Server 2000. When creating a report and setting it to send via email as an attached excel spreadsheet, the email is in the format HTML. Does anyone know if it possible to default this format to something else like Rich Text. I have a feeling that this might involve a change to the RSEmailDPConfiguration within the RSReportServer.config file but am not sure which tag needs changing or adding.
Any help/suggestions greatfully received.
Hey everyone...I'm completely new to SQL Server and I'm trying to learn the Reporting Services tool. I just installed SQL Server 2005 and selected to install all the options, atleast I'm 99.99% sure I did.
When I go to launch Report Services Configuration, I get "No report servers were found on the specified machine. Details: Invalid namespace". Do I need IIS for this to work?
Also, I do not think the AdventureWorks database was installed, I cannot seem to find it anywhere. I have tried to go back through and reinstall it, but it says that it is already installed.
Also, is there a certain order that you are supposed to install things? i.e. SQL Server before Visual Studios?
Thanks in advance.
*Edit* BTW, I'm using Windows XP, SQL Server Enterprise Edition, and VS.NET 2005.
Is it possible to have my pop up SSRS box size according to the size of the returned value? Issue is, i have a text box that returns a note field and depending on the number of notes, it can and will vary in size. I am currently using this code
="javascript:void window.open(" &"'"& Globals!ReportServerUrl &"/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?"
&Globals!ReportFolder &"/Patient%20Eligibility&rc:Parameters=False&rc:Toolbar=False
&VPATIENTPROFILEID="& Fields!PatientProfileID.Value
&"
','DetailsWindow','left=300,top=180,width=920,height=455,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,location=no'" &
")"
Does anyone at Microsoft know what the story is for openxml format support in reporting services?
