Reporting Services :: SSRS Recursive Parent Gives Distinct Children Only When Children Have Multiple Parents

I have made an SSRS report using the recursive parent functionality to show a hierarchical tree of values. The problem I have is that some children have more than one parent, but because (in order to use the recursive parent nicely) I need to group the results by Id, I only see distinct entries. This means that I only see each child once, even if it "should" appear in multiple locations in the report (under each of its parents).

I am creating a SSRS report connecting to a cube , Which has geography as Dimension as Hirerarchy ( the Hirerachy consists of Region, Subregion) and a measure , Now this geography dimension is taken as Parameter
when i apply filters i am getting the filter based on Parameter selection , But how can i get the all children under the same parent
As i need to create a graph based on report parameter (ie i should get all the children under the Select parameter parent)
to be more specfic consider this
Region SubRegion
Asia India
Asia Pakistan
Asia Japan
Australia Melborne
Suppose my report parameter is India , I should get all the values under Asia(Parent of india)

I am working on a project where I have a page that will have a parent record (Product) and then 1 or more children (options available for the product, user enters text to define) displayed in a table/gridview. There is a relationship defined in the database between the product and options table). My question is how can I allow the user to add the product info and then within the same page also add the options and only then save it all? The options will added to a table. Thanks for any help

I need to extract data to send to an external agency in their supplied format. The data is normalised in our system in a one to many relationship. The external agency needs it denormalised.
In our system, the parent p has p_id, p_attribute_1, p_attribute_2, p_attribute_3 and the child has c_id, c_attribute_a, c_attribute_b, c_parent_id_fk
The external agency can only use a delimited file looking like
p_id, p_attribute_1, p_attribute_2, p_attribute_3, c1_attribute_a, c1_attribute_b, c2_attribute_a, c2_attribute_b, ...., cn_attribute_a, cn_attribute_b
where n is the number of children a parent may have. Each parent can have 0 or more children - typically between 1 and 20.
How can I achieve this using SSIS? In the past I have used custom built VB apps with the ADO SHAPE command but this is not ideal as I have to rebuild each time to alter the selection criteria and and VB is not a good SQL tool.

I am getting below error
Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression.
I tried to solve this problem with If and else but it is not going well with in-clause

hi. I am working on Multiline Marketing Project.I have to calculate all the childens and display the whole tree..I have save records in tree format...But not able to calculate the all childrens.

This query works properly.Problem is that it is not working in the project because in the like I have to pass a variable.

I need to be able to identify if a parent has the same child names as another parent.
Have a look at my data (in pic)
Can you think of a SELECT that will count for each parent, the number of other parents including themselves with all the same children's names?
So you would get something like:

Guys, could anyone tell me if MSSQL Server 7 has 'on delete cascade' option when creating a foreign key constraint or something similar to it. I'd really like MSSQL to remove all dependent records (child records) automatically from one table when I'm deleting a parent record from another record. I know that I can do it via trigger, but the FK constraint should be removed or disabled. I would really appreciate your help. Thank you very much.

Finding the court cases where all children associated with that case have a programClosureDate. I can run this query:

I am in the process of creating a Report, and in this, i need ONLY the row groups (Parents and Child).I have a Parent group field called "Dept", and its corresponding field is MacID.I cannot create a child group or Column group (because that's not what i want).I am then inserting rows below MacID, and then i toggle the other rows to MacID and MacID to Dept.

I have integrated sharepoint list data to SQL Server reporting services. I am using the below to query sharepoint list data using sql reporting services.

By using this query, I am getting a dataset which includes all the columns of sharepoint list. Among these columns, I wanted to display only 2 columns (i.e Region and Sales type) using chart. I have created a Region parameter but when I click preview, the drop down box is giving me all the repeatative values of region like
RG1,RG1,RG1,RG2,RG2,RG2,RG2,RG3..........
I wanted to display only distinct values of Region parameter so that whenever end user select region from the parameter drop down, it will display the respective value of Sales type column.Also when I select only RG1 parameter, it is giving me a chart including the sales type of all the Regions. (it should display me only the sales type of RG1) How can I link these 2 columns so that they will display the values respectively.

I am using the code below to get all the children of a particular product and it is working fine. How to get the particular product's id in the select statement. for example, i need to show 891 in a separate column for all the records returned by the query below.

I'm building a report that has a column in the table called countries of origin, that column can contain data like "USA","China" ( normal countries) but some rows can also contain "USA, China, Australia" ( multiple counties in one row).
I'm trying to build a filter to filter my results :
-I have a data set created with a list of all world countries
-I've Build a Parameter containing a drop down list with all countries
--- My problem is when I want to create the filter in my main data set , I can so it , but when I search for example for "USA" , I don't get the lines where there are multiple countries and "USA" is one of them...
There must be an expression in the filter that will be able to search through all the values in the string and return me my correct results.

I have a parameter "time frame" which contains two value- 6 months ,12 months an 18 months which shows data of 6 months , 12 months and 18 months.
In my ssrs report i have 18 columns :
jan|feb|mar|apr|may|jun|july|aug|sep|oct|nov|dec|jan|feb|mar|apr|my|jun
The first six months will be displayed in each case.
But when i choose 6 months i just want to display first six months only.when i choose 12 months i want to be displayed first 12 months columns only and for 18 months all the columns,.

I Have an SSRS report which shows questions and answers pulled from a view tables.I have 3 rows: Row 1 shows questions and answers 1 - 128, row 2 shows questions and answers 128 to 248 and row 3 shows 248 onwards.I only want the row with the correct questions and answers to show.So am using this query for example:
=IIf((Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value < 128 Or Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value > 247)
AND
(Fields!vQuestions_Response_value.Value < 128 Or Fields!vQuestions_Response_value.Value > 247), False, True)
which fails.If I only use= IIf(Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value < 128 Or Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value > 247, False, True) this works.What is the correct syntax for the multiple IIfs as i want both the criteria in the first query satisfied?

I have a report with 2 tablixes, both the tablixes can be hidden based on the parameter selection. The 1st tablix has a drill through action on one of the columns, that calls the 2nd tablix in the SAME report. Once you click on the drill through, the 1st tablix is no longer visible, only the 2nd one is.
The report is working fine, until you export it to CSV file. Once you are on the 2nd tablix (1st one is NOT visible at this time in the report), and then when you export it to CSV, BOTH, the 1st tablix as well as 2nd tablix are visible in the CSV file. Why does the 1st tablix come up in CSV IF you just exported 2nd tablix to CSV?
Is there a workaround to NOT show the parent/1st tablix at all if the 2nd tablix is exported? Excel works fine!I know sub-reports instead of multiple tablixes might solve this issue.

Have a nvarchar column in ms sql that, based on user input, may or may not have a carriage return and a line break together (CHR(13)&CHR(10)), just a carriage return (CHR(13)), just a line break (CHR(10)). In using that column in ssrs, I need to find if any of the above exist and replace them with the string "x0Dx0A", "x0D", or "x0A" respectively.
I'm getting lost in this expression:

I am creating a SSRS report using a SSAS cube as it data source. The user would like to select multiple values from a reporting parameter that is then used as a filter on the MDX statement. I am bale to have the report work successfully when only one value is selected but not when multiple values are selected; the report uses only the first value from the reporting parameter when it contains multiple values. How do I filter an MDX query using a SSRS report parameter with multiple values?

We have a report that was created in SSRS 2008 R2 that has 3 tables with different datasets that share a common ID that I want to use to group them.
If we run the report passing only a single value for the grouped parameter then the report works perfectly. What we need is for this report to allow multiple values to be selected for this parameter and for the report to run as if the user had selected each value one at a time and run the report with page breaks in between. Currently, when we pass multiple selected values for the grouping parameter the report displays all values for table 1, then all values for table 2, then all values for table three as below:
Table 1:
Detail rows for Group Param Value 1 ...
Detail rows for Group Param Value 2 ...
Detail rows for Group Param Value 3 ...
....
Table 3:
Detail rows for Group Param Value 1 ...
Detail rows for Group Param Value 2 ...

But we want it to render like this:

The page breaks are needed so that when the report is exported to excel each individual report (by group param) will be on its own uniquely named tab.The report must export cleanly to excel and currently does for the single value passed.

Hi,
I am trying to figure out if this is possible in Oracle or Mysql
Lets say I have 3 tables such that C could have either A or B as its parent.
A
{ id, name}
B
{id, name}
C
{other_id, comment}
Now other_id could be either A.id or B.id. What I want to be able to do is to define a foreign key constraint of the type:
CONSTRAINT FK_C FOREIGN KEY (other_id) REFERENCES A(id) ON DELETE CASCADE,
CONSTRAINT FK_C FOREIGN KEY (other_id) REFERENCES B(id) ON DELETE CASCADE
such that deleting A.id automatically deletes C.other_id where A.id = C.otherid and same for B.id
Ofcourse i am not able to do this. Is there any way that this can be done in Oracle and Mysql?

I want to enable a drill down on a parent child hierarchy, just as it is possible in the Analysis Services.
An Example :
Hierarchy in a company : Jack (1) is the boss, Frank (2) and Andy (3) ar the Semi-Bosses , and Julia (4), Jane (5), Henry (6), Michael (7), Will (8) , Dave (9) are normal employees . Timmy(10) is a trainee. Furthermore Frank is responsible for Julia,Jane and Henry and Andy is responsible for Michael WIll and Dave. Dave is responsible for Timmy. So we get the following tree hierarchy structure.

My Employee Dimension Attributes : Name, Parent
I want to make a report, where I show the salary of each employee. But at first the user only sees 1, when he drills down he sees 2 and 3, too. When he drills down once more he sees 4 5 6 and 7 8 9, too (The user must be able to recognize which person is responsible for 456 and which for 789). And the last drill down shows 10, for which 9 is responsible ( exactly as it is possible in the analyis Service in the Cubebrowser)
I have read some posts where are MDX examples which are similar to my problem, but they did not solve my problem.
I hope somebody can help me
