Nov 3, 2015When I click on the DataSet Query Desginer there is an Error Source:.NetSqlClient Data Provider. why this error comes and I have executed the SQL query in SSMS succesfully and the result comes. However this is causing the report from the report manager to fail.

Apr 23, 2015I've just recently tried to upload a report to my organisations local SharePoint site (2010)...it has reporting servers functionality and works fine otherwise. I have site ownership but have no control over the SharePoint Farm etc.
The trouble i've ran into is that the new report i've created is being pulled from a third party company's own server, with the shared dataset on their reporting server...it works fine when i run it on my computer or on their software system but it needs to be on the SharePoint site as well. For some bizzare reason it's against their policy to connect direcrtly to the database meaning i can't just create a data-source to sort this mess out.
The report server cannot process the report. The reference for the shared dataset 'DischargePerformancefull' is not valid. (rsInvalidDataSetReference)
I've tried uploading the dataset into the same sharepoint library as the report but it just comes up with XML errors when i try to open it and it won't let me point the dataset to it from the SharePoint options.

May 27, 2015I have a report with multiple datasets, the first of which pulls in data based on user entered parameters (sales date range and property use codes). Dataset1 pulls property id's and other sales data from a table (2014_COST) based on the user's parameters.
I have set up another table (AUDITS) that I would like to use in dataset6. This table has 3 columns (Property ID's, Sales Price and Sales Date). I would like for dataset6 to pull the Property ID's that are NOT contained in the results from dataset1. In other words, I'd like the results of dataset6 to show me the property id's that are contained in the AUDITS table but which are not being pulled into dataset1. Both tables are in the same database.

Sep 4, 2015I am trying to create a basic report in SSRS, with 6 columns but then we receive an excel spreadsheet with different account numbers daily and I am requested to create a report based on those account numbers. so how can I create a shared folder for the users to drop their excel spreadsheet there and make my SSRS only filter the result set based only on those account numbers?

Oct 30, 2007First off, let me just say that I'm a complete newbie to SQL Reporting Services, and .NET in general. We have a VB 6 application that is trying to launch an SRS 2005 report in a viewer window. This was accomplished by creating A VB.NET "wrapper" window that launches the report, and allows the report to be previewed, exported, etc. I did not write any of this.
The report is using a Shared Data Source, which points to a specific database. My problem is that the users can select which db they want when they launch the VB 6 Application, so I need to find a way to edit the connection string in the report to specify which database to use on the fly. I have the db name in the "wrapper" application, but I can't figure out how to pass it to the report.

However, when I open the wizard to create a new report, I am always asked for a data source, and then have to renter the SQL code that I have stored in one of my datasets. May 19, 2015I want to run SSRS report directly by connecting Excel as a data source. The report runs properly from SSDT, but when it is run from Report manager, some users cannot access the Excel connection and the report execution fails. I am using SSRS 2012 and Excel 2010.I have created the ODBC data connection in SSRS and when I use 'Windows Integrated Security' option for credentials, the connection gets successful. But the problem is that all users does not have permissions to access the Excel inline, but they should get the report working.How can I store the credentials to access the Excel in SSRS with a specific username and password?

This works no problem. but.. I want to have the user parameter "Craig" be a parameter passed in from the web app. If it were a regular SQL data source you would put @user in the query. How do you do it with XML text queries?

Aug 16, 2011We are running Reporting Services 2008 R2 on a Windows Server 2008 Standard 64-Bit server. I have a user that has full access to Reporting Services at all folder levels but IS NOT a local administrator on the 2008 server.
This user can create data source connections but when he tries to test the connection by clicking on the 'Test Connection' button, he gets the following error "The permissions granted to user <username> are insufficient for performing this operation.A user that has administrator priveleges on the server can test the connection fine.
I don't want to make this user an administrator on the server.
This is an extract from the log file:

Using SSIS Package As Source For Reporting Services

I have created an SSIS Package which provides Data to a DataReaderDestination. Next I have uncommented SSIS support in rsreportserver.config and rsreportdesigner.config
After that I have set up a shared Datasource in ReportServer and created a Report using that DS of type SSIS.
/FILE D:ETLReportingDataService.dtsx
When trying to see the report using http://localhost/reports I get a message that tells me that the package fails to execute. It does so well when debugging, so my guess is that there is some security issue.
It also does not work in preview dialog in VS. The error message there is "Cannot read the next data row for the data set dsSSIS. Object refernece not set to an instance of an obj.
I haved tried several sec. config-scenarios for the shared datasource. No change
I am using sql 2005 std, march sp1 ctp
Does anyone have a clue what could be the cause of my problem

Reporting Services :: SSRS Report Does Not Display Resultset Through Dataset Returns Resultset
Oct 10, 2012I am creating a simple SSRS table report through Report Builder. My dataset is looking for the stored procedure . When I execute the Stored procedure through SSMS I get resutset for certain parameters. I execute the dataset (Store procedure) through query designer in dataset properties and I get results back. But when I try to run the report and see the preview, I do not get any results displayed. I been looking on the same issue form last 3-4 days and have not found any clue.
Following is the stored procedure I am using. Also I am passing multivalued parameter through report as well, and I am using spilt function to seperate the libraryid I am reading from parameter values. This works fine. I have similar kind of four other reports and with different stored procedure which exactly follow the same method , like multivalue parameters and other criteria are also very similar. All other reports works just fine.. This perticular report has issue for displying results, following is the stored procedure I am using

Reporting Services :: Adding Dataset Parameter Doesn't Add Report Parameter In Visual Studio 2008 SSRS
Apr 22, 2015I'll go to a dataset, open up the query designer, add a new parameter, then refresh the fields, but the parameter won't be added as a report parameter. If I go to the dataset properties under the list of parameters, the value in the dropdown will be blank. However, sometimes this will automatically add.
Is this a bug in Visual Studio? How do I get around this?
Reporting Services :: Calling SSIS Package From SSRS
Jul 23, 2008Need some clarification on calling an SSIS package from SSRS. I have managed to get this to work, but only if I actually build the SSIS package on the report server machine.My SSIS package is very simple it. The control flow is a single data flow task. Within the data flow task is an ole db data source and a data reader destination. I verified that the package works in BIDS.
If I build it and deploy it on the report server I can execute it just fine from integration services (using the dtexec UI panel) in SSMS, no validation errors and no execution errors.If I try to build a dataset (specifying SSIS as the data source type) then immediately on referencing the package I get a "Package failed to validate error". However, if I bring the whole project over to the report server and build it then I can reference it from my Report Services project.
I'm using package deployment security of "Don't Save Sensitive" for the SSIS package with the 'sa' login. After the deployment package is built I edit the connection string to include the password.The remote execution account for the Report Server is set to the administrator of the box. I know these account permissions are overkill, but I'll iron all that out once I get the basic pieces in place and working.

Jun 19, 2015I'm using a shared data source to connect an Oracle server in my packages. After changing the database user password in the shared data source, I noticed the package concerned would fail with the following description.
Source: "OraOLEDB" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied".
Is there a way to ensure the packages will use the latest information in the shared data source? I did do a Rebuild before executing the packages.

Something along the lines of them being a data read for the DB and permissions to update tempdb?
Would have thought it not advisable to have the login be able to update the main db...

Sep 23, 2015At the Moment we use SQL Server 2008 R2 Std. with Reporting Services. I want to change the individual schedules (non-shared) for 170 subscriptions without using the web Interface.
I tried to change table entries for dbo.Schedule and dbo.Subscriptions but the reports did not run. I also know that here are Jobs in the SQL Server Agent for the schedules. Now I need to understand how the mechanism works that updates the job entries from database tables. Is there a stored procedure which can be used?

Without it, I got error Executed as user: NT ServiceSQLAgent$RETAIL_PRO.and this user does not exists on remote server. so got access denied. error.

What is a best strategy to do this keeping in mind that while package is running and two new csv files come in and package shd copy data from both the files.

I am trying to figure out whether it is a possible or not to have a stored procedure that can return 2 dataset what I mean returning 2 selects and then manipulated within RS? If it's possible, can someone show me how?
The reason I am asking this due to have 2 return table view if you like that I manipulated each one of them differently and I rather do it one process instead of calling the same query for different view.
