I have a client that has 4 reports; 1 main, and 3 that are rendered when the user clicks the report data on the main report (which passes parameters to generate the other 3).
They would like to have a back button in the report header of the 3 reports (they don't want to use the browser back button).
Is this possible using a text box, then editing the navigation properties and does anyone have an example? Or am I missing something quite obvious?
We recently upgraded from ReportViewer 9.0 to 10.0 Control in our ASP.NET application, and face some strange issues after the upgrade. When we press the Back button to go to a page that was rendering a report with one or more single-select drop down lists, the selected index in the drop down is reduced by 1, and the report doesn't render until I press "View Report". I verified that exact same setup works well with ReportViewer 9.0.
I've noticed on SSRS 2000, 2005 and 2008 that the browser's back button does not always render the report. It will sometimes hang with the rendering icon spinning essentially forever. Is there a limitation that can be tuned which would allow my users to return to the previous report or 'view' they were looking at using the back button?
I have integrated my SSRS Drill though report in Web page and i could not able to find back button to go back to the original report. Unfortunately, i am not controlling the report viewer tool bar.Do we need to write some code to get it working.
I need to run two reports each of A5 Size to run back to page and print on single A4 paper means in 1st half Sale bill will be printed and in second half Gate Pass Will Be Printed both report will be on same page and size and shape should be maintained. How to do it.
I've installed the Developer's edition of SQL05 on my PC at home. I am able to open the reporting services via the Manager Studio and Windows login under my username and password, however I cannot open it in my browser when I enter the
http://computername/reports address. I get a login dialog and enter "computername/myloginID" for the user and my local login password. It will not accept the login and reprompt until I exceed 3 tries.
I also tried logging in with the PC's admin id and password as well as the sa account name and password.
Any ideas on what I missed in the setup or security?
I want the header to be visible while scrolling. After changing on the static Properties FixedData=True, it is working on BIDS and Internet Explorer 11 . But is does not work in Chrome. Most of my users are using Chrome. Is there any way to fix it for google Chrome.
1. We have been using Sql Server 2008 R2 and its reporting services engine.
In the application we used Report Viewer (version 9).
When the report is taken for the first time, couple of messages pops up.
a. Unable to Load print control b. Install Sql Server Reporting Services 2008 R2.
These messages are fine, but we noticed that the second message is not consistent. When the application is deployed in staging server which is as same as the production server except for the power (CPU, RAM), the second message is "Install Sql Server 2008". Why is this happening?
2. To support IE 11, we upgraded the Report viewer to version 11. Now the messages are different.
a. Printing is not available. Verify that ActiveX is enabled or try using IE from the desktop b. Install Sql Server Reporting Services 2008 R2. (Here again when deployed in staging server it says "Install Sql Server 2008").
I am facing an issue when report with graph deployed to BI, I can see the misalignment issue in the browser however, when report is run in the Report Builder/SQL Server Data tool or export into PDF then there is no issue.
How to fix the misalignment issue of the graph in the browser. See the both graph below -

Graph without misalignment issue in PDF or Report development tool
I have designed plenty of reports in VS 2005 and have been deployed on the reporting server. I have been designed one web page which shows UI through which user can access which ever reports he/she wants. I have kept some buttons on UI. When button is clicked appropriate report accessed and displayed on the browser.
Problem is that, report width is about 40 - 50 % of the screen and report viewer shows the report on the left align of the screen. I just want to show the report at the center of the screen. Also, any property I can use to set the report size in the proportion of screen in Percentage(%).
I am trying to print a report in landscape mode from VS 2003 from designer preview or at run time. The users don't want to change a mode manually. I tried to make width 11 or 11.5 in and height 8.5in with zero margins and 0.5in (tried a lot of combinations) - doesn't work! still printing in portrait. Please help! Thank you
Just upgraded to Windows 10. My SSRS reports, SharePoint 2013 integrated, still work but have no scroll bars. I can use the touchscreen to scroll left and right. Mouse wheel or any other attempts to scroll the report view don't work.
I know how to size my report to export successfully to A4 portrait PDF and I can position the report in the centre of the browser window BUT I can't do both! I would really like to be able to position it in the centre of my browser window AND be able to print to A4 portrait PDF. If I have the report in the centre (by adjusting the body to take up the whole screen and positioning the report in the centre), it is cut in half when exported to PDF. I can only get it to export to PDF correctly, if the report is aligned to the left of my screen in the browser. Is there a way to move the body to the centre or any other tricks?
after installing SQL Server 2008 R2 and the Reporting Services, I've managed to access the Report Manager URL....Reports through the web browser on the machine itself. But if i am trying to connect to on my client browser it does not find the Report Server.Do I need to configure the server in any way? Do I need to configure the firewall?
I wouls like to have a custom button called "Set" in the report toolbar in addition to the "View Report" button. I am aware of the fact that the look and feel of the existing controls on the toolbar can be customised or can be hidden using HtmlViewer.css. Is there any code which I can tweak to add buttons or images on the report toolbar?
I have created web based ssrs report with Report viewer and I am trying to add Command button to print result of report reside in ReportViewer and I have worked with code to generate. Is there any other way to work around without writing function or java script on Extra print button to print ssrs report.

I have a chart with series that needs conditional colour for three conditions. One condition must be transparent. I have tried the various IFF or SWITCH expressions below and some work fine in SSDT but when I deploy them to the browser the formatting is lost. This simple IFF expression works. The series is transparent as required both in SSDT (Visual Studio BIDS) and IE11 and Firefox browsers but I need two other conditions.
Both of the expressions below work in SSDT (Visual Studio BIDS) as expected but when deployed to the browser none of this formatting is rendered and all series are in blues even the ‘transparent’ series. No red at all.
I have tried deleting various files RDL and DATA. I have tried uploading the file from report manager in IE and I have tried editing the file in report manager.
I have finally have reporting services up and running. A list of all built-in reports have been populated under Monitoring>Reports but when I click on them I get the results shown in the screen shot attached. Below is the error I get when I try to open any report from my IE browser. I have confirmed SSRS is running on my SQL server. I actually had to start it in order to get the list of reports to populate becasue it was stopped. An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot impersonate user for data source 'AutoGen__5C6358F2_4BB6_4a1b_A16E_8D96795D8602_'. (rsErrorIm personatingUser) Log on failed. Has anyone encounted a problem with Reporting Services (2005) with the following scenario: A report with a dropdown parameter allowing a Select All choice -
If the selection list is fairly long and Select All is selected - if the user clicks the View Report button the selection list is completely reset (i.e. all items are unselected). This seems to happen if the user quickly clicks the View Report button immediately after clicking the Select All box on the parameter dropdown.
This happens inconsistently - some users experience it frequently while others do not see it at all (using the same parameter values, etc.)
All, Im pretty confused on this one.I have developed and deployed 10 packages on my Report Manager.Currently these packages are saved on a share drive in our company and are saved in the MSDB folder in SSIS Integration Services in Mngt Studio.Thses packages are also scheduled as jobs on the server itself. Our db is being backed up daily as well.
My question:
Is there any other way for me to backup the packages in the SSIS Integration Services?
Read on msdn, it states that the MSDB db stores SSIS and DTS packages.Does that mean in case my server goes down and I restore my database which includes the MSDB db.This means that when I connect to the SSIS Integration Services after the restore I would be able to see my saved packages on the server as before the restore.
Anyone out there who did a db restore and noticed if the saved packages where made available in the SSIS Integration Services after the restore.
What are the other possible solutions to ensure my packages are safe?
Is doing a FULL db backup, include saving SSIS packages on SSIS Integration Services.
Another Question: What about the reports that are made available in the Reporting Services, the subscription of these reports, the Roles that I have created and the scheduling being done for the reports. How can I backup all of these? How to ensure after a db restore all these would be made available in the Reporting Services as well?
Hello. When I'm useing a report in reportViewer I have a "back button" in the the viewer which let me go back to my parent report after jumping to another report.
I wanted to make a bigger button like that on the report so I tried to simulate it by creating my own textback and use a javascript to go back one page.
This doesn't work since the javascript doesn't work as well as the built in bottun. Is there a way to simulate this button any way?
In the sharepoint site from the main report when i go to my drill down report i see no back button, Is there a way to provide back button in the toolbar. I dont want to use the page back button. or is there any way by which if i click for my drill down report the report will be opened in a new window?
I have a series of drill-through reports from a parent report. While in BIDS I get a blue arrow that allows we to get back to the parent report from the drill-through report. I do not see this feature available on the RS web interface. How are users expected to navigate back to the parent report?
Apologies if this post doesn't belong here. We are in the process of moving steps from a large SQL job to a web portal. The intent here is to allow the user to manually trigger the jobs to run. The problem I am having is in determining a way to run these job steps in the background, thus allowing the browser to take control while the step runs. These jobs can take enough time that forcing the browser to wait is not an option. The steps have been consolidated into stored procedures so in order to run a step, one would call the sproc. What I would like to do is run this in a separate thread and let that thread end on its own while the server transfers back to the client. Is something like this possible? My understanding is that the thread would be orphaned once the browser takes control again. Thanks in advance for any advice.
While migrating Report services in SQL Server 2005 to 2014, I am trying to restore the Encryption Key in RS Configuration Manager in2014. But I cannot click the 'Restore' button in RS Configuration Manager. So if I should be grant more right to do so or any other action?
When I preview a report that has a link to a details report page in VS a "Back to Parent Report" button is displayed. However, when I publish the report to the Report Server, the .aspx page doesnt display the "Back to Parent Report" button. Is there a setting I need to make to have the button displayed?
When I drill down from one report to another and then depress the back button to return to the initial report, the message 'Generating Report" spins forever without actually running. However, if I depress the regenerate button during this time, it will run the report.
I believe that I may have inadvertingly reset a field attribute to have caused this condition. Ironocally, I have the same set of database installed on another server, and the this does not happen.
I forgot to mention that I am using Report Manager to deploy the reports.
I'm using a number of drill-through reports, which are working great. However, if I have drilled through to another report (enabling the back button) and then go into print layout mode, and click the back button while in print layout mode, the report viewer becomes completely unresponsive.
It's easy enough for me to simply not push the button, but if users encounter this error they'll have no choice but to end-task (crashing the viewer and the application that called it), which could result in loss of unsaved data.
Has anyone else run into this problem/discovered a fix for it?
