While migrating Report services in SQL Server 2005 to 2014, I am trying to restore the Encryption Key in RS Configuration Manager in2014. But I cannot click the 'Restore' button in RS Configuration Manager. So if I should be grant more right to do so or any other action?

FYI, I've modified the SQL Reporting Services account LogOnAs info, in Properties of "SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER)" Service, in Windows Service Managment.
Earlier I had .useraccount as username, I modified it to domainnameuseraccount. And then suddenlt everything broke for reporting server.

I've got an error when I want to initialize the Report Server by means of RS Configuration Manager.
All points are check in green except "Encryption Keys" that is in "Optionnal configuration" and "Initialization" that is in "Not Configured".
When I click on "Initialization" an error occured :
The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. (rsReportServerDatabaseUnavailable)
When I want to browse the report this error occured:

I am attempting to set up SQL 2005 reporting on my local system. When I get to the "Initialization" step I get the following error:

I've a slight problem with configuring my Report Server. I have set up everything apart from the initialisation and and the Windows Service Identity, however when I select the panel for the latter I am presented with a message box displaying the following:

There was an error while switching panels. The most likely cause is an error retreiving WMI properties. The exception details are:
InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'.
Parameter name: SelectedIndex "
I have tried re-installing the entire SQL server setup and this made no difference, I followed this by removing then reinstalling just the Report Service. Still nothing.
Any ideas as to what it is doing and how I should go about fixing it?

I started Configure Report Server (2005) and have executed backup of the encryption key.
Problem occurred on restore of the encryption key as following error (I have provided correct backup snk):

I have a database using encryption with symmetric keys created using asymmetric keys.
I backed up this database and restored it on another machine along with the service master key.
I can read the encrypted data fine. But all the encrypted stored procs that are associated with the application that uses the data cannot read the data, they just return Nulls.
If I regenerate all the encrypted stored procs from script they work fine again.
Is there a way to restore the database without having to regenerate all the encrypted procs??
Hello all - I have an installation of SQL Server 2K5 Express with Reporting Services on an XP Pro SP2 PC. It has been running for about 6 months now. Within the 1st month, I had to restore the Encryption Key (the Report Manager failed to function properly).
All had been well until last week, when I had to restore the encryption key (for the same reason). After restoring the encryption key, the Report Manager immediately started to work again.
It happened again today, so I had to once again restore the encryption key. Can anyone offer any ideas as to why/how this would happen?

I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this but I am trying to achieve the following:
I have a row (In this case it is information on a fix) and on a button click I am trying to get it to "archive" it. At the moment I have it so that it it takes the current information and adds it to the archive table adding an archive date. The thing that I am struggling with is incrementing the version number. So, I need it to (in these steps I think) - Look for existance of the other entires of that ID, look for the version number that is related to the newest date of those knowledgeIDs and then add 1 to it. If that knowledgeID doesnt exist then add it as one.

I feel like it must be easy and I'm missing something. Maybe I'm going the wrong way about it too. Basically I've written an append query that needs parameters, but I have no idea how to actually execute it. I'm coming from building apps in MS Access where all of this is really easy. I'm really enjoying learning some things, and did my first MS SQL trigger event tonight, which worked great. I though using a trigger may be an option here, but I need to control the "when" of this append a little more carefully and can't rely on an automated event. I can manually execute the query and it works, but have a button I could press on a form, with the queries on that form would be ideal. I'm basically moving partial data from one table to another. Any help? Again, this seems like it "should" be easy, but I'm not finding info on it. Please talk slowly, as again, I'm coming from Access.

Hi i need some insistance with Backing up and Restoring database in SQL Enterprise Manager.
I have SQL installed on my local machine, and there is also an instance of the database on the Actual Server.
What i want to do is backup a dbase on the server called 'DATA1' let's call it, and want to then restore it to a new dbase on my local server called 'DATA2'.
What is the best way of doing this, through the wizard in:
What menu's do i go through.
I think where i may have the problem is when i try to RESTORE to my local...That part i an confused at.

Hi guys, I don't own a copy of Enterprise Manager and I need to remotely restore a database on my local machine to my hosted machine, can you guys recommend an application that can do remote restores?
Or is there a way to convert a Database into a long set of Transact SQL statements that I can run on the remote server (ala MySQL's MySQLDump)?

Hi everyone.I am trying to write 2 INSERT INTO statements into a Button click event. Both statements go to the same database but differnet tables. The first statement works fine but the 2nd causes an error with the Try, Catch, Finally statement. When I remove the ExecuteNonQuery from the 2nd statement, the 2nd INSERT INTO statement fails to work. Any help would be brilliant. Thanks!

i am using Asp.net , C# , sql server 2005.
i made one rdl report and called it from server (win2003). it worked successfully . but when i give print for the same report(through reportviewer control print option). Client machine restart. Same thing happened on four machine that were in win2000.

I went to ---->restore database. I checked "from device" and select the right path to the .bak file.Then I click ok, but there is an error pop up." tend to override existing database", so I went to --->option, and checked "force override existing database". then I click ok, but get an error look like this http://ewwa.lo7.net/error.JPGI thought it was a problem with my .bak file. So I try to use another .bak file which I am sure it is 100% good. It prompt the restore is sucessfully. It has a date control based on parameters which works correctly in the development environment. I can select by day AND I can move from date to date by clicking on the month name to be able to move by month or double clicking to be able to move by year.
When the report is deployed to Internet Explorer 11 or Firefox I can only, click back and forward by one day at a time and I can not double click the date control to move by month or double click to move by year. I can type the dates into the parameter box and get the correct result. I have set the compatibility view settings in IE for my server.

I'm a newbie when it comes to SSIS and web development (I'm currently in school for Mechanical Engineering). I'm trying to develop a website in which I can upload an excel file and have the contents written to a SQL database. I have been successful in creating a package in which I point to an excel file and it writes the contents to the desired database. With this, I was hoping that I can modify my website to take the file which is being uploaded, change the name, and then have the SSIS package run, in which it will look for the named file in a certain directory and upload the contents to the SQL server.
Ideally this would be the order of events:
User selects and uploads a file to the server (button click)
Server renames it and places it in a certain directory
SSIS package runs and extracts the data to SQL database

I have written some code to insert a record into the table in BtnAdd click event and I also have a Grid view control to show the table records.
If I click the Add button ,the record gets inserted into the table and shown in the grid correspondingly.But if I refresh teh page,the same data gets inserted again since it fires the Btnclick Event.
Please help me out in this issue.
