Currently i am setting up a report. The data source comes from pre-defined custom datasets where i've pre-entered the parameters for both Month and Year.
I already have one table up and working, but now i need a new table below it with a % column for each month so it gives visibility for the trend in recent months. As the interactive parameters are already in place; when i try to create the table it comes through with the specific month that the parameters are set too, and change when the parameters are altered. Is there a way to ignore the parameters for this table; or get around it?
My requirement  : I have Database which has got 100 tables.I need to create SSRS report which display top 10 records from the table within that database.
User will select The table name as parameter in the report. the number of column in each table will vary .
I am using the below statement in stored proc, and calling same from ssrs report
exec( 'select top 10 * from ['+@datbasename+'] .[app].'+@tablename+'')
we need the list suppliers in a text box,if it were a parameter, we can do it by =join(parameters!Supplier_ID.Value,",")but if the Supplier Id is a field , join (Fields!Supplier_ID.Value,",") doesnt work!how to achieve this.
I have created an SSRS report containing a bar chart. The Y-axis contains some application names which are displayed based on a certain criteria. Hence sometimes there are only 2 values in y-axis while sometimes it may range upto 20 items. I have tried a lot but have been unsuccessful in getting a dynamic y-axis which changes with the number of items present.
I have a user table with Label and value fields where i would like to control the display of the text boxes based on the values selected in my user table. Can we adjust the text box positions dynamically based on the user table values.
Ex: Table
Label1 Field1 Label2  Field2  Label3 Field3 ID    100              Dept  Sales
Report Design :
Label1: ID   Field1:100 Label2:      Field2: Label3:Dept  Field3:Sales
Expected Result :
Label1: ID   Field1:100 Label3:Dept  Field3:Sales
In my table i don't have values for Label 2 & Field 2 , can we adjust the spacing conditionally to be utilized by Label3 & Field3 in SSRS.
Note : Above mentioned data is just for an example and in my actual report i can have more than 3 columns and report is looking ugly with all the spacing if i don't have data in all the fields.
Is there any possibility to have the  Defaultvalue of  a Parameter in Bold fonts and rest of it as Default parametervalue=Defaultvalue ,"Bold","Default".So for example in drop down of parameter if the C is the current value it would look like this:
I'm using a bullet chart in a SSRS report and I want to set the Maximum value in the Linear Scale properties to highest value of the following 4 fields. Is there any way to do this?? This will make all charts line up properly.
I am displaying the red line in the beginning of the current week column in the matrix table. But for few resources the red line is missing. For Example in below screenshot, refer the 'Adrian Larkin' resource. Here is the SSRS report border expression which is comparing the [TimeByDay] with the current Week First Monday Date to display the red bar -
Here is the dataset result set. If you refer the column [TimeByDay], it has no record for the date 11/05/2015 for the Adrian resource as he has no assignment for the date 11-05-2015.display the red missing line red bar using the expression or any other solution.
We have the customer requirement to display the footer of a SSRS Report fixed at the absolute bottom of a DIN A4 format page. The footer contains information like company address and stuff.
I searched quite a while on this topic and only found workarounds for SQL Server 2005 with Custom Code in the SSRS Report to calculate the size of the body content and then insert some empty lines to get the space needed to push the footer to the bottom of the page. But this won't work in SQL Server 2012. And I wasn't able to figure out how to achieve this yet.
Is there a way to subscribe SSRS report using dynamic parameters for email and trigger the report from autosys job so that report should generate the exact time the job is triggered.Let me describe, my SSRS report should be triggered on success of one autosys job. i need to send email parameter and time of report schedule from this autosys job.
We've got a requirement to build the real time report. user can browse report at any point of time and need to see the latest data(stock market) in the report.
I've few options down...
1. Directly point to OLTP database as source and write stored procedure to show result set.
2. Replicate the database and write the SP's to reports. To avoid pointing directly to OLTP db.
3. To build the datawarehouse with dim & facts to show it in reports. I prefer this as a standard method, but this would have some latency depending on trasaction load which will differ from the requirement.
We built our prod server [vm] with SQL Server 2008 R2 on Server 2008 R2. It works nicely. Then we made a copy of the VM and renamed it (so our test environment would be IDENTICAL to production). After that, SSRS was broken: I get "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable." I can't connect via http, or SSMS.
We have tried:
*Â Running SSRS config tool (several times)
* Running with/without the IIS Server Role
*Â Dropping & recreating the SSRS keys
*Â Recreating the ReportServer database, etc
*Â Checking all of the accounts, permissions, etc
*Â Running SQL Repair
*Â Going through the registry to fix any references to the machine's old name
*Â Uninstalling, reinstalling SSRS
* Completely uninstalling ALL of the parts of SQL Server 2008 R2, deleting all directories, removing references to SQL Server from the registry, rebooting, reinstalling everything.
None of this has worked. SSRS [R2] is still 503 on our test box.
the SSRS [NT] service seems to run, without error. The Event Viewer doesn't seem to be recording any errors. The SSRS logs say that the default URL is wrong, but we get the same error in Prod, and Prod works fine. The other SQL Logs say something about not being able to contact the service. However, as I said, the [NT] service seems to be working fine.
I've generated a report using Reporting Services, and some of my fields are numeric with the value zero. On generating the report this is shown as 0.00 and not 0. Is this something that is easily fixed?
I am creating a report in SSRS and the data is obtained through a stored procedure. One of the parameters is Begin_Date. This is simply a date field. I need to have it on the Page Header section. However, when I placed it there and ran the report, I received the following error -
Error2[rsFieldInPageSectionExpression] The Value expression for the textbox ‘begindate’ refers to a field. Fields cannot be used in page headers or footers.
Is there a way around? I have never faced such a problem when I created reports in Crystal or ActiveReports. Please let me know whether I am missing anything.
I have the following store procedure which execute perfectly fine Under SSMS as it is :
-- Insert statements for procedure here SELECT APHIST.ReturnDate AS ATDATE ,API_HIST.[ActionPlanItemID] ,API_HIST.[ActionPlanID] ,PIT.[ProductItemID] ,PIT.ProductItemCode
[Code] ....
But then when I try to create a dataset using ReportBuilder and pointing to that StoreProcedure, I get the following error message box :
"Could not update a list of fields for the query. Verify that you can connect to the data source and that your query syntax is correct. An item with same key already been added" ...
I've got a report consisting of nested list items and a tablix inside the last list.
As seen below - the tablix seem to shift the  "Brand No:" textbox details to the right when it becomes bigger.  How do I prevent this? Is there some anchor property of the text boxes that link them to the tablix?
I have a problem formatting a field in Reporting Services (minutes to hours).
I have a field called duration which stores time in whole minutes only. I can format this into hours within mssql using the following:
cast(sn.duration/60 as varchar(5)) + ':' + RIGHT('0' + cast(sn.duration%60 as varchar(2)), 2)
But I need to have totals and average columns in my report, which means that the data must come through to RS in the minutes format so I can perform the calculations there.
Hi, i want to display images on the Reporting services, Images resides on the same machine but we want to set the image path dynamically from dataset fields. please suggest me best possible approach. this is windows application and all the data with image path is in a single dataset.
Hey everyone...I'm completely new to SQL Server and I'm trying to learn the Reporting Services tool. I just installed SQL Server 2005 and selected to install all the options, atleast I'm 99.99% sure I did.
When I go to launch Report Services Configuration, I get "No report servers were found on the specified machine. Details: Invalid namespace". Do I need IIS for this to work?
Also, I do not think the AdventureWorks database was installed, I cannot seem to find it anywhere. I have tried to go back through and reinstall it, but it says that it is already installed.
Also, is there a certain order that you are supposed to install things? i.e. SQL Server before Visual Studios?
Thanks in advance.
*Edit* BTW, I'm using Windows XP, SQL Server Enterprise Edition, and VS.NET 2005.
Is it possible to have my pop up SSRS box size according to the size of the returned value? Issue is, i have a text box that returns a note field and depending on the number of notes, it can and will vary in size. I am currently using this code
I am not sure if this is possible or not, we have two datasets and each one has an additional calculated field which breaks the value JobBilledExVAT into three years.
So it reports for example how much we billed in May 2015, 2014 and 2013.
I have got the table to display this when reporting on one dataset by grouping by year
The datasets both look similar to thisÂ
SELECT  Practice.ibvSalesByJob.JobBilledExVAT  ,Practice.ibvSalesByJob.[Year] FROM  Practice.ibvSalesByJob  INNER JOIN Practice.idvJobType
[Code] ...
The calculated field isÂ
=Switch(Fields!Year.Value = Parameters!Year.Value ,"15", Fields!Year.Value = Parameters!Pre1Year.Value ,"14", Fields!Year.Value = Parameters!Pre2Year.Value ,"13") The field I am looking to add together is below =Sum(Fields!JobBilledExVAT.Value)
If I do the below on the dataset associated with the matrix it displays the sum for each year correctly, I would however like to add the Sum(Fields!JobBilledExVAT.Value) from a different dataset (ABS1M) for the relevant year.
However this adds 2015, 14 and 13 from ABS1M and doesn't add them individually if that makes sense? With the calculated field it only shows Year under the main dataset heading not 15, 14 and 13 separately.
I was think of using LOOKUP however I don't know how this would work as 15, 14 and 13 are not displayed under the dataset.
Our division has approximately 300 employees. We have an annual shift bid where seniority is calculated using Date of Hire. If 2 or more employees share the same Date of Hire then we fall back to Date of Application. Currently the SSRS report does a very simple query and shows all the employees in order of their Date of Hire. If they match then it sorts the matching Date of Hire entries alphabetically by the employee name. It then becomes the task of the scheduler to locatethe entries with the same Date of Hire and manually look up the employees' dates of applications then sort them accordingly and re-write the report.Â
Goal: Convert the manual process into an automatic process by modifying the current SSRS report. Data: The dataset is "DivDir" which contains the following fields: "EmpName", "DofHire", & "AppDate".Â
EmpName   DofHire        AppDate Adam ......  12/2/1996     11/15/1996 Bob ..... .... 1/16/1997      12/27/1996 Charlie ....... 1/16/1997      12/12/1996 Dan ......  ... 4/11/2001     3/22/2001
In the above example I want the SSRS report to list the employees in this order:Â Adam, Charlie, Bob, Dan.How do I do this programmatically using SSRS?
If I have some mdx I'm using in reporting services like this:
select { [TimeByMinute].[All TimeByMinute].[2005].[May].[1] : [TimeByMinute].[All TimeByMinute].[2005].[May].[6] } on columns, {A_list_of_measures } on rows from ACD_Calls
The column names are unique to the day of month- which means when I use a table to display this in reporting services, the field names change dynamically when the date parameters change which means the table stops working.
I'll post this in reporting services too but I thought maybe I could alias the column names in mdx shielding the reporting services table from changes in dates.
What do you think? Would a matrix be more flexible in this case?
