I am having a problem with the e-mail delivery extension in MS SQL Reporting Services 2005. I have some reports that use an Oracle data source. When running the reports through Report Manager the data source works fine and the reports display properly. But when running an automatic e-mail delivery of the reports through a subscription I get the following error message (in the ReportServerService log file):
System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
Doesn't this seem strange when the reports run in Report Manager but not when I send the reports through e-mail? I have Oracle Instant client v. 10.2.0.3 installed on the machine. I am wondering if the e-mail delivery extension has an account that needs privilegies to the oracle client home directory or something like that. Any ideas?
We are using RS2005 for a year now and never had any problems especially with mail subscriptions.
Since we transferred from single RS machine to web farm everything works ok except mail subscriptions. Subscription sometimes (?!?!?!?!) refuse to export report to a document of any kind. I repeat that this is a random thing which is more often with PDF and less with Web Archive or Excel. We are using shared schedules and on demand execution of AddEvent stored procedure by night batches to send mail to users. Also, original error from RS log says something that this kind of operation is not supported for server working in native mode. We don't have SharePoint so we never used it in any other way then native mode and it worked.
Any idea will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
Update 26.06.2007
It seems that problem is not loading dll used to export report to a file but loading email subscription extension (dll that needs to be loaded for execution of email subscription.)
Original error from RS Log:

I have installed the printer delivery sample and made the changes to the config files as described in the documentation but can only see it available as an option in the data driven subscriptions section. Anyone know how I can get it to show up in the standard subscriptions option?
In Sql Reporting Services 2005 (This is bolded because this same error is all over the web for Sql Reporting Services 2000 and thats not where my problem lies) I schedule a report to be emailed. However when the delivery extensions Deliver method is called I get the following error

I've set up my smtp as out domain email smtp, given the accounts all the permissions I could (Even going to far as to give Everyone permissions everywhere) Currently my IIS, SQL 2005 and reporting Services 2005 as well as my local SMTP is running on the local machine account.
I cannot seem to get it to work, or even give me a different error.
Could anybody please tell me what needs permission where and what settings I need to have set up for this not to happen.

I'm using Windows XP to develop on however the server where this will eventually run is Windows Server 2003
I'm using ASP.NET 2 and SQL Reporting Services 2005 and SQL 2005 with sp1 loaded

I have a report that groups a particular dataset by customer, with a page break between each customer. If print this report, it looks great - one page per customer.
What I would like to do is have the report deployed on schedule to a windows file share, one .pdf file per customer. How to parse the output into individual .pdfs (one per customer) instead of a single .pdf containing all customers? I get it if this is not possible.
My current (painful) workaround would be to replicate the report for each potential customer, and set a schedule for each report to deploy sequentially. (Customer 1 at 9:00, Customer 2 at 9:01, etc).
Is Microsoft planning to include reporting services extensionsion for usering Sharepoint lists as datasource in MS SQL Server 2008? And what about reporting services extension for building semantic model on Sharepoint lists?

I am running SQL Express Advanced addition on an XP pro box. The install went cleanly, and I have no problems creating and publishing reports that use a SQL server data source, however when I try and publish a report that uses an oracle data source I get the following error.
An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'ORACLE' that is not registered for this report server.
The report works fine withing the preview pain of Visual Studio, and it publishes fine within SQL 2005 standard edition.
Can someone please tell me how to register the data extension for ORACLE in SQL Express.
When I am saving a SSRS report in excel format in a shared network drive, how can I add the date extension to the filename ?I assume this is something that needs to be handled within the SSRS reporting side rather than the subscription side.
I am using this custom data extension from BI Studio.
Que1: I want to create report parameters from BI studio and capture them in my Data Extension.
Que2: Every report parameter has so many properties, like hidden, internal, default value etc, how do capture that information in my data extension, the parameters only give me name and value.
Que3: I know I can capture command Text. So My command can be Select * From tablename where fieldname= @myFieldname. Once I get this commandText in my data extension, How do extract parameters of the command?
Que4: If I have any custom attributes in my RDL file, Can I capture them in my Data Extension ?
in order to use an SSIS package as a data source in a report, I need to enable the SSIS extension in the RSReprotDesigner.config and RSReportServer.config files. That extension is in neither of these files. I have SSIS running on my machine with Reporting Services.
The path to RSReportServer.config: C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVERReporting ServicesReportServer
The path to RSReportDesigner.config: C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0Common7IDEPrivateAssemblies
Why is this extension not in either of these files?
The following is an abbreviated list of what's present in the RSReportServer.config file:
I installed SSRS 2014 Reporting Services on a 2008R2 Enterprise server. When I try to subscribe to a report (also SQL 2014), the default rendering is MHTML. I want to change this default to EXCEL.
I updated the rsreportserver.config file and restarted SQL Server Reporting Service. Now, the default rendering for a subscription is 'XML file with report data' which is the first <Render> data element. If I change
<DefaultRenderingExtension>EXCEL</DefaultRenderingExtension> back to <DefaultRenderingExtension>MHTML</DefaultRenderingExtension>
And restart SSRS Service, the default subscription rendering is MHTML.

Using SSRS 2008R2 is it possible to change the file extension of a CSV data driven subscription? I'm outputting a text file with a .csv extension, but users have access to these files and I don;t want them opened with Excel and then saved back in an incorrect format.
These are the options I have from the report "manage" option.
I have a report server set with an smtp account with Alias set to False but will not allow me to send e-mail outside the network. E-mail report delivery works fine to any e-mail with @mycompany.com but to an e-mail like @hotmail.com it gets rejected saying e-mail not recognized. I tried all config possibilities know to this man but nothing works. If long into the smtp server itself I can send e-mails outside of company. I'm thinking it may require a password from SSRS config but there is no place to put one. Any one know how to config SSRS to deliver e-mails to any and all e-mails accounts?
I am having a strange intermittent problem sending reports via e-mail subscription. The report will be delivered only 20-25% of the time. I have checked the SQL logs, SQL Agent logs, System, App and Secuirty logs and see nothing obvious.
I put a network monitor on the reporting box and looked at all SMTP traffic. What happens is the reporting server connects to the SMTP box, sends the From Address and gets an OK, sends the To Address and gets an Ok. Next the reporting server sends a RSET command to the SMTP and it closes the connection.
No e-mail sent, but reporting services/SQL agent indicate success. Here is a log of the
I need help about this , What i've done so far is a data processing extension that gets its data from a WS , I use it as a datasource for a report , That report will be displayed withing an ASPX page containing a reportviewer control that displays that report , The problem is catching errors that occurs withing the data processing extension .. ,
When i debugged the extension i saw that after throwing an exception the code ends up inside the "cancel()" event inside the IDBcommand implementation...
In all examples for a data processing extension i could find online they always have a comment saying the cancel is not implemented and throw a NewUnsupportedExtension()..
What happens is i get some uninformative , non-userfriendly error from the reporting services , something like "an error occurred during the report processing(rssomehing)"
How should i go about handling those exception that happened inside the data processing extension?
I've tried catching the error inside the event of the reportviewercontrol - reporterror but it seems that event don't fire when those errors are generated..
Any help on how to approach this would be highly welcome
Is anyone else having problems with subscriptions and delivery with SQL Reporting Services? I can set up a subscription and uncheck "Include Report" and the email sends fine. When I try and "Include Report" such as a PDF I get "Failure sending mail: The Report Server has encountered a configuration error; more details in the log files" This was the default set up. I guess I am not sure as to what user/service accounts should be used. The Reporting Service and SQL are on the same machine (2003).
Thanks for ANY suggestions!!

We have installed SQL Server 2005 with reporting services. When tried to open getting errors as below: how to avoid such errors See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

We built our prod server [vm] with SQL Server 2008 R2 on Server 2008 R2. It works nicely. Then we made a copy of the VM and renamed it (so our test environment would be IDENTICAL to production). After that, SSRS was broken: I get "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable." I can't connect via http, or SSMS.
We have tried:
* Running SSRS config tool (several times)
* Running with/without the IIS Server Role
* Dropping & recreating the SSRS keys
* Recreating the ReportServer database, etc
* Checking all of the accounts, permissions, etc
* Running SQL Repair
* Going through the registry to fix any references to the machine's old name
* Uninstalling, reinstalling SSRS
* Completely uninstalling ALL of the parts of SQL Server 2008 R2, deleting all directories, removing references to SQL Server from the registry, rebooting, reinstalling everything.
None of this has worked. SSRS [R2] is still 503 on our test box.
the SSRS [NT] service seems to run, without error. The Event Viewer doesn't seem to be recording any errors. The SSRS logs say that the default URL is wrong, but we get the same error in Prod, and Prod works fine. The other SQL Logs say something about not being able to contact the service. However, as I said, the [NT] service seems to be working fine.
I'm using Reporting Services 2005 SP1 and wrote some code to render reports server-side. My sample report has few parameters that must be passed so I pass these parameters with code.
byte[] report = rs.Render("PDF", "<DeviceInfo><Toolbar>False</Toolbar></DeviceInfo>", out extension, out mimeType, out encoding, out warnings, out streamID); </My code>
Actually, I have several more parameters but I've checked the collection and all the parameters I want are there and have values. Their names match those found in executionInfo.Parameters. But when I run my code I get the following error on Render():
<Error> "This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'pClass'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value. ---> This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'pClass'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value. ---> This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'pClass'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value." </Error>
I've double-checked and my parameter array does have the problematic parameter, I passed it a value but when I check executionInfo.Parameters I see that it's the only parameter that hasn't been give a default value after calling SetExecutionParameters(). So my parameters do seem to be passed but one seems to refuse getting a value. If I comment out the SetExecutionParameters() line I get, as expected a similar error but on another parameter (first one in the executionInfo.Parameters collection). So I'm left to beleive that the SetExecutionParameters() has some kind of bug as it works for all but one parameter. I've checked casing, spelling, tried passing phony parameters and from what I've seen I should be getting an error when I pass the parameters if I got something wrong.
I am trying the get the custom security extension samples to work on my machine. I have installed everything according the sameple help file. However, i am getting a "Authentication Ticket is not issued by LogonUser." error after I attempted to log on to the report manager thru UILogon.aspx page. I already created an admin user. Upon a closer inspection, I realized that the authentication went thru okay, however, the authentication Ticket Name contained in the "RSAuthenticationHeader" has a duplicate value of "sqlauthticket, sqlauthticket". So apparently, the report server added this value twice to the response header. Has anyone seen this error before? How would you fix it? Also to bypass this error, I parsed out the header and take the correct auth ticket name, now report manager just redisplays the logon page and not letting me thru. Has anyone have seen that before? I am running in Win 2003 server, IIS 6, .NET 2.0 and SQL server 2005 enterprise version.
I recently installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise on a machine running Server 2003. I have successfully configured Reporting Services (see below for summary of settings) - Used the defaults for the Repor tServer and Report Manager Virtual Directories - Windows Service Identity set to domain user. The domain user is part of the administrator group on the machine and has sysadmin rights to the database - Web Service Identity set to NT AuthorityNetworkService
When I open http://localhost/reports/, I get the following error:
I have check a bunch of forums, but have no success. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!
