I have a tablix report (SSRS 2008) when I render it in excel my client always need to see the row headers as fixed one i.e when he/she scrolls report from row 20 scrolling should begin and always want to see first 20 row and next should be scrolling. Is this possible.
View 3 RepliesI am using SSRS 2012 RC0 in Visual Studio 2010 sp1 to build this tabular report. I had inadvertently removed the initial header row from my tablix before adding numerous nested groupings to move the column headers to the header section so they would show up on each page.
I would like to reverse that decision, but I seem to be unable to now re-add that header row back to my tablix. In older versions of SSRS, I was able to right click on the table and then click on insert row-->Header row but that does not seem to be possible in ssrs 2012.. I tried adding a outer row to my top most grouping, but that option was grayed out.
How I can add my header row back to my table.
I has developed one report in SSRS in SSRS 2008 R2 and when I preview the report in report viewer in all pages Report Header is repeating, whereas when I export the same report to PDF strange for some pages header is missing.
When I searched in google for SSRS 2008 Microsoft agreed that it is a bug and they provided the hotfix. And this hotfix is not working for SSRS 2008 R2 as it is a higher edition but still I facing the same issue.
I have several row groups in a tablix. I want to keep header visible through scrolling.and i also want the first row group to visible, only the first.
So I set the first row group's properties fixedData to TRUE and keep other row groups to FALSE then when running the report i got error "FixedData is not allowed in row TablixMember,unless it is also set on the first row TablixMember"
Now I think this is not possible. or is there anyway to make it works?
I'm wondering how to print a SSRS report without bringing up a report viewer. Is there way to print(PDF format) the SSRS report in the web application( .net ) directly from the "print" button without bringing up a report viewer?

i have used ranges inside a rectangle but when i preview the tablix ranges are coming Perfect concern is that during export to excel border of the rectangle comes only for one row and gets hidden for second row .and its working perfect when exporting to PDF .

For complex presentations of data it appears to me that the best practice is to put complicated code into a stored procedure that will make most of the formatting decisions, and keep the SSRS work in the report designer as simple as possible.
The following text is from the original question. I have an SSRS report which contains 2 tablixes. Each tablix has a different dataset coming from separate stored procedures. Currently, everything works good; the user selects one customer (customer A) to display the one page report for; data for customer A for the 1st tablix may contain 7 rows, and data for customer A for the 2nd tablix may contain 4 rows. User prints report, then chooses customer B which may have a different number of rows for each tablix.
I would like to give the user the option to select "All Customers" to display the report for all customers, one page per customer and I currently do not perceive that there is a way to paginate the report; one page per customer. When I pass in "All Customers" to the 2 stored procedures I get all of the correct data back; sorted by customer; so I can do some sort of page break on a row group on the customer name column, but I have 2 tablixes of data.
I am making a book-like report, I am using a report that has a header and calling a sub-report that has it's own header. However the sub-report header is not showing on the parent report. Parent report header is prevailing over the sub-report. Is it possible to have both headers displaying?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working on complex invoice document that handles various types of invoicing, credit, and progress bill customer facing documents. I am faced with same problem I see many SSRS devs posting on. And that is extra blank pages, being generated because the report width exceeds the width of the page.
My problem is I cannot shrink the horizontal width of the tablix and therefore the report width either...
While I would have done things differently if developing from scratch, the tablix in question has only one column and objects contained in rectangles are placed in the row/column cell.....The link to the image below shows the row I am currently working on. Essentially all the client wants a columnar report with column lines, closed footers, etc... so rather redoing the whole tablix, which I still might do, I am using rectangles with the column then lining them up. Anyway, that is a whole 'nuther post. My specific questions are:

1. In the image I have selected the parent rectangle. The children are other rectangles and the data is with grandchildren textboxes that exist within those rectangles. I clearly have a bit of right side white space in the main parent rectangle, but there is no sizing tool on a hover... just move tool. And if I change the rectangle size in the prop form it just snaps back to the cell width. How do I size the parent rectangle and keep if from expanding.
Here I am guessing that to actually reduce the horizontal width of tablix and then the report, I have to first decrease the parent width of the rectangles that occur in each row?
How to display the logo in middle of report header , The logo is embedded in the Image folder . The column of the report are static. we are using SSRS 2008

The report displays correctly in every other way (ssrs server viewer, visual studio preview, visual studio 'Run', etc)The aspx page hosting the control has two controls, the reportviewer control (assembly 10.0.0.0), and a scriptmanager control asyncrendering = 'true' and processingmode = 'remote'.So the columns are not 'always visible' with the reportviewer but they are with every other renderer that i've tried.
The report i'm testing is just a simple table with a couple groupings (built using the wizard). To enable the fixed headers I went to the groupings view and changed the "FixedData" property of the first Static member to true per instructions.
Is there any thing like Report header in SSRS ? As a work around I am using a Rectangle control in the page header which I make visible if page number is 1 otherwise not visible. But if its invisible only the other items in the header seem to move up while the body height remains unchanged which I do not want. I want the body height to increase if the Report header is absent. Please let me know if I am missing something or if the SSRS has something like Report header already.

Is there anyway to create a Report Header in SQL Reporting Services?
I am guessing "no", but I have to at least try and ask away.
Okay, I have had reports where on the first page they want a report header, and then on the 2nd and the consequent pages they want a page header. This is simple, in the Page Header I put the text box(s) for the Report Header in one Rectangle and then the text box(s) for the Page Header in another Rectangle, stack the Rectangles on to of each other, and set the visibility property of the panels accordingly.
I also see on the table control (which I am using on my report), you can set the table header row(s) to either print on every page or only on the first page.
Neither of these options will work for the report I am trying to build based on a Crystal Report.
I have a page header that needs to appear on every page including the first page. It is about 3/8" tall. And then there is a requested report header that should only appear on the first page. The report header is about 2" tall. So if I try my trick I used before, I will have 2" inches of white space on the 2nd and consequent pages. The Report Header would correctly print on the first page, but the size of the Rectangle (even if the visible property is set to false) will still eat up white space.
Is there anyway around this, or will I need to have the users redesign their report to fit SQL reporting services?
Let me know if you have any ideas.

There are some other filters are there that i have applied in my report tablix property.
I've got a feeling that the answer is, "can't be done," but I'll go ahead and ask the august members of this forum, anyway. Is it possible to alter the placement of the Parameter fields when previewing a report?
At the moment, it seems that they form in a column of twos, reading from left to right. I see how the ORDER is affected, by changing the order of the parameters in the Report Data window, but can I change the number of columns?
I have 2 tables in a report and have set the FixedHeader property of the 3 left columns on both tables to True.
The report displays perfectly when previewing, but when deployed and viewed in IE6 fixes only the columns from the first table
(all columns from 2nd table display, but the 3 columns with FixedHeader set to true scroll out of view when report is scrolled right)
and additionally displays an error.

Possible additional points of interest.
1)There are some groupings in the second table which are initially hidden and toggled by cells in the 1st or 2nd column of the table.These 2 columns are the first 2 of the 3 columns having FixedHeader set to True.
2)If the 1st table is moved physically to below the 2nd table, FixedHeader fails on both tables.
Is there something that I've set up incorrectly?

I need some help. I am writing a report in SSRS 2005 that I then need to export to Excel. When I put a report header I would expect the header to not display in the Excel spreadsheet until the Print Preview or the Print. The report footer works just fine I put some text in the footer, and it shows up in the footer. The header though, shows up as a row in the Excel spreadsheet that then causes columns to merge. How do I get the report header to act like a page header?

We are about to implement SSRS reports (SQL Server 2012), and have found one issue we don't like. The report looks great when we open it in pdf format. However, when we open it in Excel format, we want it to be the raw data, not look like the pdf report. I tried the simpl headers, and that removed the page header/footer. However, the report format was still in play.In other words, we would like the report when opened in Excel, to look just like it does when we open it as a CSV.I have tried to modify the config file a couple of times. Here is my latest attempt:

Essentially I have set Visible = "false" for the Excel type, and tried to duplicate the CSV, changing the name to make it look to the user like it is "Excel". This fails. I checked the event viewer, and I see two entries.. The RSReportServer.config file has been modified. (Information)The value for UrlRoot in RSReportServer.config is not valid. The default value will be used instead.I literally took the file, opened it in Notepad, pasted in my changes, from another notepad window, and tried to run the report. I did not see EITHER of the two names I expected, using the OverrideNames tag. As I said earlier, I was able to affect the outcome, by setting SimpleHeaders to true (or however it is identified). That did work in that the page header and footer was removed.
I have a ssrs report having 2 tables in with 4 columns in each. When I go to export option in preview I can see all data coming in one excel sheet, But I am trying to get 2 tables in 2 different pages in Excel when I export.First page of excel comes with first table data with 4 columns and second page of excel comes with second table data with 4 columns .

I have a report I'm designing where, as a simple SQL report viewed only on a screen, it was irrelevant how wide it was. However, now I've been asked to duplicate this report in SSRS and to include the option to print it out.
Well, the problem is, as it stands - with 8pt font, even - it will require a sheet of paper about 24" wide to get all of a single row to print.
So, I'm trying to create a Tablix that will split the data into two sets of header/detail rows in the same Tablix. Any workable solution that doesn't involve writing an app in basic or C.

I have
1. Right-click the tablix and select Properties.
2. Click Visibility.
3. Select Show or hide based on an expression.
But I return, A hidden expression in textbox returned a datatype that is not valid.
I don't want to hide or show based on the result I just require that the tablix that doesn't return data stay's in proportion with the rest.
I have a report I'm trying to modify for a client that has two auto-grow tablix. We want the second tablix to start after the first one completes, however the first tablix will overwrite the second one if it contains multiple rows, rather than pushing it down. How can I control this?

Using a single multi select parameter I want to show/hide 5 tablix's I have in my SSRS 2008 report. Inside the parameter I want to give each tablix a value a have user control which tablix he wants to see. If user selects all 5 he should be able to see all 5 or if he selects only 4 then display only the 4 tablix's user selected or select's only 3 then display only 3 so on so forth.

And used 2015-03-01 in filter but it did not work
If I dont use format, ssrs gives error that tablix cannot compare datetime and string...
I have to create tablix report using data from 2 datasets. The data source for one of the dataset, DataSet1 is Microsoft SQL Server and the data source for the other dataset, DataSet2 is Excel.
I have to pic 3 columns from DataSet1 and one column from DataSet2.
I tried using a lookup function Expression:

The above expression is throwing #Error on that column in the output.what should I do?
