Sep 18, 2006I was trying to export a report which contains a number format. When I do that, all the numbers in excel will have a green small tag beside it saying "Convert from Number to Text".
Is there anyway that I can change the format to a number when I export it to excel?

What I want to do is to have it appear on one column like this: 12345, the problem is I can't seem to figure out if I need to only have one variable or I'm missing something else, I figured you need to convert them into a string character but I'm still unable to do it.

I already modified the properties under smart labels under calloutlineanchor, calloutlinestyle, calloutstyle to None but still getting this vertical lines. another things is the data label as you can see in the the first column the 1.8% should be place under the gray color but its already shown before the orange color.

I have been trying for a while now to convert seconds which are obtainted from the database into the format mm:ss.
Typically in Excel, I convert my time in integer values divided by 86400 (24/60/60) and then format the cell to "mm:ss" and everything is fine. Now, I am have been trying to reproduce that same logic using Reporting Services (2000) without any success.
I saw on previous post that you can use the format property in RS but if I put in the code "mm:ss" I get the value in text "mm:ss" (i.e.: not the numbers converted).
Any ideas???

Aug 9, 2006I am writing a report that Queries a SQL DB using 'SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio'. I have a field in the DB called duration and it is in milliseconds. I am trying to find an easy way to convert the format from Milliseconds to HH:MM:SS.Nearest I can get is the following for the field:
=Int( ((Fields! DURATION.Value/1000) / 60) / 60) & ":" & Int(((((Fields!DURATION.Value/1000) / 60) / 60) - Int(((Fields!DURATION.Value/1000) / 60) / 60)) * 60)
The output is in HH:MM. One issue with this is if the MM is say :03, it prints as :3. I lose the leading 0 so 9:03 (9hrs and 3 minutes) prints as 9:3. Where as 9:30 (9 hrs and 30 minutes) prints as 9:30 as it should.

SQL Reporting Services 2005: Formatting A Number
Mar 11, 2008I know this is very simple, and I've done it before, but now I can't remember how to do it and I keep failing to do it correctly. I want to format a 6 digit number like this: 00-00-00. The number is returned from the database as 6 digits, and I just want to add the dashes.
I tried putting ##-##-## in the Format cell in the properties of the textbox (which I thought worked before) but it's not doing the trick. What am I doing wrong here?

There is one table which queries the database and I would like to change the table so there are more than 25 rows of data per page. How do I do this? Also it would be advantageous to know how to set the report to only create a new page for every different item in a column. E.g., if I have various data for each date, I would like to only create a new page when the date changes so that all data for a specific date is on one page etc etc.

May 5, 2015Getting old favourite message 'Out of Memory' when running a horizontal clustered chart with Category: 200 items Series: 200 items per Category.URL... 'By default, the report server sets WorkingSetMaximum to the amount of available memory on the computer. This value is detected when the service starts.'
The report has been tried on 3 large servers with 30GB & 60GB memory. The report runs on a 2008 install but not a 2008R2 install. We've created a test report that simply generates a series of data 1-n for Category and 1-n for Series where n can be set by parameter - so the issue is not to do with the volume of data or the processing required by SSMS. The report runs if the data is output to a table rather than a chart - so the issue appears to be with rendering the chart.
The chart is rendered when the Category has 200 items with a Series of 150 per Category. The report fails with Category 200 items and Series 200 per Category.

=Replace(Fields!Id.Value,"^",Environment.NewLine)
It is working fine, but the problem is if I have only one id in some scenario, then this case that cell is showing an error "The Number in this cell formatted as text or precedence by apostrophe" .But in other scenario,If the ids are separated by "^", then this case that cell wont show any error. So I need to display the cell wont have any error symbol if I have only one id .How can I achieve this?.

May 27, 2015I have a 2012 report builder chart that has two series (one area chart and one bar chart) combined into one chart. The problem I'm having is the bar chart has much smaller numbers than the area chart and the scaling is messed up.
Is there any way to put the bar chart on the right axis and keep the area chart on the left axis? My goal is to increase the size of the bar chart in relation to the area chart.
Also, is there any way to make the bar chart color red if the number is negative and green if it is positive?

I am loading a flat file to a table but I also need to scrub the data a bit before the data hits the table. The main update required is converting a dot (.) character to a null value. The source file is using this character to indicate a blank. I know I can use the Dervived Column Transformation, but I have quite a few columns which will take a while to manually configure. Is there another transformation option that anyone can point me to?

I am getting a date string that is contained in a character field (char(20)).
An example of the data is as follows:
2005-09-20121315001
it is in the format YYYY-MM-DDHHMMSSMMM.
I want to insert this value into a datetime field. I have used convert, but can only insert it when I split out the time portion and separate them with a colon
i.e. to get it to insert into a datetime field the data has to be in the following format
2005-09-20 13:15:18.001
YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.MMM
Is there a style parameter in the convert function that will allow me to insert this value without having to separate the hours/minutes/seconds with a colon? I have tried BOL but it seems that all the examples have colons in them where there is a time portion to the date,
