The 3 csv files were successfully imported into the ChemDatabase of my SSMSE.
2 questions to ask:
(1) How can I designate the Primary and Foreign Keys to these 3 dbo Tables?
Should I do this "designate" thing after the 3 dbo Tables are done or during the "Importing" period?
(2) How can I set up the relationships among these 3 dbo Tables?
Please help and advise.

Primary key (A1, A2).

Column B1 Primary key.

When I try to do this I am getting some errors. Questions: First of all is this possible? if yes, then how I can create it.

However,both of them gives a very different result set.But my question is why do we need to use the Customer.PersonID instead of Customer.CustomerID. Is it really important to use one primary key and one foreign,is there any specific reason why the book showed c.personId=p.BusinessEntityId.??

In my project i will have the data in a collection of objects, I need to update series of tables with foreign key relations
Right now my code looks like this

The no of objects varies from 1000 to 1 milliion,, with this approach its taking more time to update all the data. Please let me know if any alternative procedure to handle this kind of scenario.

Jan 13, 2004Hi, I am trying to create a create for two table A and table B which have no relationship each time. For TableA, there are 3 columns like ID, APoints1, APoint2. For Table B, there are also 3 columns as ID, Qty, BPoints. There is no internal relationship for these two tables. But there may be same ID inside A and B for some records. Now I want to create a datagrid for displaying the information as :
ID, Sum(A.APoints1 + A.APoints2) - Sum(B.Qty * B.BPoints) WHERE A.ID = B.ID
Please Notice that I can't use directly SQL script as following from table A and table B because there is no relationship for Table A and Table B, otherwise the recult set would be wrong:

Currently I am using Northwind DB with tables (Orders, OrderDetails, Customers)
Orders ( OrderId, Customerid)
OrderDetails(OrderId)
Customers(CustomerID)
Now, if the user wants to generate a relationship automatically based on SAME FIELD Names.
What is the approach?

Jul 31, 2014I have two table studenTtable and courseTable which is each student take more than one course . 1:M...for example Student1 take 2 courses (C1 , C2). Student2 take 3 courses (C1,C2, C3).I need to create a table/View that contain student information from StudentTable plus all the courses and the score for each course from CoursTable in one row.
for example Row1= Student1_Id ,C1_code ,C1_name ,C1_Score ,C2_code,C2_name ,C2_Score Row2= Student2_Id,C1_code, C1_name,C1_Score,C2_code ,C2_name ,C2_Score , C3_code,C3_name,C3_Score
and since Student one just have two courses , I should enter NULL in 'Course 3 fields'.My Struggle is in the insert statement I tried the following but it show an error

I'm fully aware that the New table/View will break the rules of normalization ,but I need it for specifc purpose.I tried also the PIVOT BY functionality but no luck with it .I also tried writing a code using Matlab (because it is high level sw that it is easy to learn for people not expret in programming as me) but didn't know how to combine the Student and Courses Matrices in my loop.
Reporting Services :: Could Not Establish Trust Relationship For SSL / TLS Secure Channel
Feb 27, 2008I have just installed SQL Server 2008 Feb CTP. When I try and open the Reporting Services webpage i.e. http://Reportserver/Reports/ I get the error:
The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.
In the Reporting Services config, i can't see how to turn this off, apart from removing the SSL entry (port 443 details etc), but this just creates another error.
I am more a developer, so don't really understand SSL, I am just trying to display some reports I have created in 2008.
I am running this on Windows XP.

If I drag and drop the tbl1.id column to tbl2 I end up with a one-to-many relationship. How do I create a one-to-one relationship instead?

What kind of index would ensure best performance for INSERTs/UPDATEs, so that SQL Server can most efficiently check the FK constraints? Would it be simply:

Or
CREATE INDEX IX_Students_SchlId ON Students (SchoolId, StudentId)
In other words, what's best practice for adding an index which best supports a Foreign Key constraint?

I am developing an SQL Serverdatabase and in on of the tables I need the primary key to consist of two pieces of data.
TblOrders: OrderNum, Orderdate, ....
TblDispatchers: DispatcerID, Dispatcher, DispatcherAddress
The OrderNum field in TblOrders need to be a composite of an AutoNum-field (incrementet by 1) and the DispatcerID from the tblDispatchers.
Can this be done, and how.

Jul 3, 2007When I try to insert a record on my DB (SQL 2005 Express) I get a constraint error. This is my table setup which has been simplified to expose the problem I have:
Categories TABLEint CatId PKvarchar CatName :
Items TABLEint ItemId PKvarchar ItemName :
X_Items_Categoriesint CatIdint ItemId
So basically I have a one-to-many relationship between Items and Categories, in other words each item is associated to one or more categories and this association is done via the X_Items_Categories cross table. On this cross table I set two constraints:
The CatId of each entry in the cross table (X_Items_Categories) must exist in the Category table, and

I created a column in my details table with with ID of the primary key in the master table.
The primary key ID isn't inserted as a foreign key when I insert a record. I specifed the relationship in EM.
Not sure why the primary key ID isn't inserted as a foreign key into my details table?

Sep 13, 2006Ok, I'm really new at this, but I am looking for a way to automatically insert new records into tables. I have one primary table with a primary key id that is automatically generated on insert and 3 other tables that have foreign keys pointing to the primary key. Is there a way to automatically create new records in the foreign tables that will have the new id? Would this be a job for a trigger, stored procedure? I admit I haven't studied up on those yet--I am learning things as I need them. Thanks.
