Reporting Services :: Saving Report With Taller Column Headings To Excel Cuts Off Taller Headers

Nov 20, 2015

we are running 2014 enterprise. A couple of column headings (even with smaller font) are a little tall, as much as 6 "lines".   All headings in the respective matrices are aligned vertically as "bottom".  When I save the report to excel, these taller headings get chopped off visually in their excel cell.   The cell contains the entire heading.  It appears that the second "line" of the heading is the one that is most visible in excel.

How do I get these to be saved so user will see entire heading when opening excel doc? In the first matrix there is a text box directly above the matrix and only one row of column headings.  In the second there is a higher column group heading containing month name above the problem headings.

Reporting Services :: Add A Variance Column Into SSRS Report Where Column Headers Are Non-static?

May 13, 2015

I am creating a report in SSRS which has the following criteria:

- Row 1 (parent) is 'Product'

- Row 2 (child) is  'Feed'

- Columns are date.  I have 5 dates showing at any one time across the top.  The date field is set up as a parameter so depending on the date the user selects, the report will show that date on the end column and then the 4 days prior to that in the other columns.

 - Data is the number of records.

I have a sub total on the Product and the report is collapsed on Product as default.

What i'm stuck on is trying to insert a column at the very end that will show the variance between the last two dates.  So the difference between the date the user selected (@date parameter) and the day before that.

Columns In FixedHeader Section Grow Taller During Scrolling - Why?

Nov 16, 2007

Greetings,

I have a wide report. The leftmost two columns have the FixedHeader property set true so they remain visible when I do horizontal scrolling. My problem is that the height of the 1st two rows in the fixed header section increases as soon as I scroll the report to the right. The height of the 1st two rows in the fixed header section roughly doubles while the height of the scrollable section remains the same. The upshot is that the fixed part of the report is misaligned with the scrollable part (because the rows in the two sections don't have the same height). Only the 1st two rows in the fixed header grow taller - the other rows in the fixed header retain their original height.

Has anyone seen this problem or have an idea what is happening?

Thanks,
BCB

This is the style that is generated for one of the fixed header columns:

.a6
{overflow:hidden;
HEIGHT:100%;
WIDTH:100%;
font-style:Normal;
font-family:Verdana;
font-size:8pt;
font-weight:Normal;
text-decoration:None;
direction:LTR;
unicode-bidi:Normal;
text-align:left;
writing-mode:lr-tb;
vertical-align:Top;
color:Black;
word-wrap:break-word
}

Reporting Services :: Report Viewer 10 And Fixed Column Headers

Aug 20, 2010

My problem is specific to the ReportViewer control. The report displays correctly in every other way (ssrs server viewer, visual studio preview, visual studio 'Run', etc)The aspx page hosting the control has two controls, the reportviewer control (assembly 10.0.0.0), and a scriptmanager control asyncrendering = 'true' and processingmode = 'remote'.So the columns are not 'always visible' with the reportviewer but they are with every other renderer that i've tried.

The report i'm testing is just a simple table with a couple groupings (built using the wizard). To enable the fixed headers I went to the groupings view and changed the "FixedData" property of the first Static member to true per instructions.

Reporting Services :: 2014 Enterprise - Multiple Tabs When Saving To Excel?

Oct 28, 2015

We are running 2014 enterprise.  Our users love to see related report sections saved in separate tabs of the same spreadsheet.  Is there a way to control how ssrs will save a report to excel when it comes  to tabs?

Are subreports a/the way (and only way) to do this?

By sections I mean they might have a grid, then another grid, then a graph then another graph and so on.

What property controls the tab name?  What if they want to combine 2 or more sections into one tab?

Saving A Reporting Services Report From A Command Line Call

Oct 15, 2007

I've created some reports in Reporting Services 2003 and would like to call them up from a .Net 2003 windows based application. I'm passing one parameter to the report and would like to be able to automatically call the Save As... command and provide a path and name to save the file. I wnat to render the report as a PDf file and save it in that format as well. I can generate the name of the file on the fly using the input parameter value.

What I need is a sample of how to instantiate a reporting services object in .Net 2003 and the commands to execute the Save As function after the report has been rendered.

Thanks

Reporting Services :: Open Report In Excel But Need Raw Data Not Duplicate Of Report Output

Nov 23, 2015

We are about to implement SSRS reports (SQL Server 2012), and have found one issue we don't like. The report looks great when we open it in pdf format. However, when we open it in Excel format, we want it to be the raw data, not look like the pdf report. I tried the simpl headers, and that removed the page header/footer. However, the report format was still in play.In other words, we would like the report when opened in Excel, to look just like it does when we open it as a CSV.I have tried to modify the config file a couple of times. Here is my latest attempt:

Extension Name="CSV" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
    <OverrideNames>
     <Name Language="en-US">CSV (comma delimited)</Name>
    </OverrideNames>
   </Extension>
   <Extension Name="CSV" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
    <OverrideNames>
     <Name Language="en-US">Excel (csv)</Name>
    </OverrideNames>
   </Extension>

Essentially I have set Visible = "false" for the Excel type, and tried to duplicate the CSV, changing the name to make it look to the user like it is "Excel". This fails. I checked the event viewer, and I see two entries.. The RSReportServer.config file has been modified. (Information)The value for UrlRoot in RSReportServer.config is not valid. The default value will be used instead.I literally took the file, opened it in Notepad, pasted in my changes, from another notepad window, and tried to run the report. I did not see EITHER of the two names I expected, using the OverrideNames tag. As I said earlier, I was able to affect the outcome, by setting SimpleHeaders to true (or however it is identified). That did work in that the page header and footer was removed.

New To Reporting Services...help With Fancy Headers

Mar 16, 2008

Ok, I'm new to reporting services and I am wondering if this is possible for headers in a table.

I have a stored procedure that returns the text that I want to display as a header in a report. The input parameter is the database field name. I don't want to put the actual field name as the report header, but the text that I derived from passng in the field name.

I figured I could create a dataset with this stored procedure, and put the header text field that the procedure returns in the header column. However, the problem is that I need to use this same field for each header column in my table and pass in the corresponding field name based on the column that I place this field in.

Unfortunately, I don't see a way to reuse this and pass in different parameters per column, it seems like you can only call the procedure once per dataset and not reuse it per column, leaving me with passing in a single field name and getting the same header text for every column in the table.

I may be able to get around this issue by creating a different dataset for each column in the table and passing in the field name for each dataset, but this sounds like a bad way of doing things.

Does anyone have any ideas or knowledge that can help me in my situation? Basically, I need dynamically changing headers based on an input parameter...if there is another way to do this, pleas let me know, thanks.
