Reporting Services :: Why Can't Grant Access To Distribution Lists
Nov 20, 2015
I am trying to grant access to groups on my reports... The thing is that, whenever I try a distribution list I would get...user or group name is not recognized... (rsUnknownUserName)
1-how can I recognize if it is a group or a distribution list in advance...
2- why can't I grant access to distribution lists?
Is there any way to get more information for when IAuthorizationExtension::CheckAccess fails to grant access to a report item for the current user? Specifically, it would be useful to know:
1. URL of attempted report 2. IP address of user agent 3. Identity of current user 4. Date/Time of the failed attempt
Hi, I wrote the following function in an ActiveX script task in the database transformation. When I sent it to my own email address, it sent out the message fine, but when I change it to "SP Directors" which is a distribution list, and execute this step, it gave the error stated: "ActiveX Scripting encountered a Run Time Error during the execution of the script." Any one can help me on this problem, thank you so much in advance.
'Name or IP of Remote SMTP Server objMessage.Configuration.Fields.Item _ ("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserver") = "mail.iparty.com"
'Server port (typically 25) objMessage.Configuration.Fields.Item _ ("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserverport") = 25
We have (SP 2010) 2 SharePoint lists. List A - listing dates and users working those dates. The users field is a Look up Column pulling from List B. List B -Display detailed information about each user. Also using SQL Server Report Builder
In SP (list A) if you click on the user's hyperlinked name it opens the details perfectly.
[URL]
However, I am using SSRS and wanting to perform the same functionality. If I display the data, the name fields are not displayed as Hyperlinks. When I attempt to edit,(Action / Go to URL) and paste in;
[URL]
Every row displays the same (#25) person. If I try something like;
[URL]
It finds the basic list, but not the specific user. The values are empty.
I need this to be dynamic. How should I edit to show each specific user?
In SQL Server 2005 SP2 I want to grant the ability to create views to a user but in order to do this it requires that the users has the ability to grant alter on a schema.
Is there any way to grant this privilage without granting alter on schema also?
We moved a development reporting services database to a new server last night and followed the MS 'Moving a Report Server Database to another computer' directions. We used the Reporting Services Config tool to make the changes, remoted into the 2003 windows server - which is running sql Enterprise reporting and connecting to a 2005 Enterprise cluster.
We had two small problems - although everything seems to be working fine. The First try seemed to be unsuccessful because we did have the service started after applying the database connection changes. The directions don't mention starting the service before you hit apply. The second time we got an error that said "Create Grant Rights Script - The Task Failed". We entered a sql login that was a sysAdmin during the setup.
The exception details started off with: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access is denied
If the rest of this error is needed I can type it out...I was sent a screen shot of it! Thanks for any help - we are moving production soon and I'd like to understand what went wrong. Thanks Sam
Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
I started my Reporting Server and if I use the Internet Explorer as a Administrator everything works fine.But if I don't open it as an admin it calls "rsAccess Denied The user [...] does not have the permission...".Problem is that I want to run it in an SAP Program with an HTML Viewer. how I can get those Permissions ?By the way somehow I'm not able to create or change roles in the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
I downloaded SQL server Express w/ Advanced services with the intention of using reporting services on my webhost server and SQL on a seprate data server.
I made a report in VS2k5 which ran perfectly off of a local server but when I tried to deploy my reports to the web server it informed me that The feature: "Remote access to report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.Can that be so!? Is it as it seems, that Reporting services for SQL Express simply cannot connect to a remote DB, or did I simply fail to configure my service properly?
and if it wasnt built to remote connect then is there a work around for this issue?
SRSS server is defined with various reports. Data located on another server. Database connection defined on SRSS server.how would you configure SRSS server to be accessed from internet, without going through VPN connection? we have a defined server that is accessible from internet.
If I log on to the SQL server and using IE go to http://sql1/reportServer I see the reportServer webpage just fine.However if I go to another server in the same domain and do exactly the same thing (same user account, same URL) I get a windows box asking for username and password. It doesn't matter what username I use I still get prompted for username and password.
I've looked in the sys.dm_exec_connection and it says NTLM so I am guessing that SPN are not the cause.
We have another SQL instance on the same SQL server and you can reach the reporting webpage just fine no matter where you are.
The only thing I have noticed different is the working instance has login for DPM$ (being a DPM instance) but the default instance does not have a SQL1$ entry. Don't know if that is important.
Previously I was using SSRS to create a local website(native mode) for our domain users to access. I wonder whether it is possible to share the website to outside users(just like youtube, everyone can access it). Is there a possible way to achieve that?
I have report server setup on the same machine where the sql server 2005 db is setup, as well as iis running the website. i simply need to get report server running to allow internet access. I have report server setup so that it is running locally (localhost), however, as soon as I change the iis site settings to a domain name, report server stops working properly. This looks like a permissions issue, Ive tried different combinations of settings, but nothing works. Any insight on how I can get report server setup for internet access (forms authentication), would be much appreciated.
I have created a table with .. username, password, grant username and password are nvarchar grant is a bit I want to check the availability of the username and password and then check if it is granted to access or not .. so I made a selection query for getting the grant when username ==x and password = y x=data come from another page y=data come from another page then put the selected grant or deny ( true or false) in a data set .. and then check if it is grant ( true) to complete what I want >>> else ( deny ....( false )) to return a reponse of deny username or password... but everytime the dataset is empty .. this is my code ... sqlConnection1.Open(); SqlDataAdapter da=new SqlDataAdapter("select grant_deny from users where username='"+Request.QueryString["username"]+"' and password='"+Request.QueryString["password"]+"'",sqlConnection1); da.Fill(ds,"users"); sqlConnection1.Close() if (ds.Tables[0].Rows[0]["grant_deny"].ToString()=="true") { . . . . } else { Response.write("error"); } what is wrong ..?? and if there is anyone has another solution for what I want .. I appriciate any sample code,... thanks in advance..
In the field, the operators are presented with 5 categories, each category having between 3 and 5 possible selections, for example:
Weather - clear(1), cloudy(2), rain(4) or snow(8).
If the operator selected cloudy and rain, the value of Weather would be 6.
I want to print a report in the office that will list the categories and the available selections for each, putting an "X" next to those selections that were checked by the operators.
In Access, it was easy - I plugged a decode procedure into the OnFormat event...
cnum = obj![WEATHR] If cnum - 8 >= 0 Then obj![SNOW] = "X" cnum = cnum - 8 End If If cnum - 4 >= 0 Then obj![RAIN] = "X" cnum = cnum - 4 End If If cnum - 2 >= 0 Then obj![CLOUDY] = "X" cnum = cnum - 2 End If If cnum - 1 >= 0 Then obj![CLEAR] = "X" End If
Making the change to SQL Reporting Services, I'm clueless...as you can tell, I'm not even sure how to ask the question.
I would like to grant the MACHINENAMEASPNET user all acccess to my MSSQL database (i.e tables and stored procedures. I can do this through enterprise manager but id rather do it programatically so i can add it to my database creation script. What is the syntax for this?
Can anyone help me on users Access rights. The problem is I have created users called finance and sales. Sales have default database called Salesdb. Similarly finance have default database called Financedb.
The user sales created a table called 'daily_report' in salesdb and he is also belongs to the database role of db_ddladmin. The user finance doesn't have any access rights to this salesdb database and he didnot belong to any database roles in financedb itself. But I don't know, this finance user he is able access all the rights of 'daily_rep' table of salesdb database. Even the user sales has revoked all the access rights from the finance user, he still ables to modify/insert/select/delete the records of 'daily_rep' table of Salesdb database.
i am working on a project using asp.net and microsoft sql server, i am now working on my home pc. so now the problem is whenever i try to access the database through asp a error message such as :
[OleDbException (0x80040e4d): Login failed for user 'JYHENGASPNET'.] System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.ProcessResults(I nt32 hr) +20 System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.InitializeProvid er() +57 System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.Open() +203 JYHeng.USRRegistration.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) in C:Documents and SettingsHeng Jang Yang.JYHENGFYPFYPCacheJYHENGJYHengUSRRegistra tion.aspx.vb:63 System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) +67 System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() +35 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain() +731 will appear. my connectionstring used is : objCn.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB; Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=fyp;Integrated Security=SSPI;"
i am told that i must check if my aspnet user have been granted access to the database. however i am not sure on how to check the access, not to mention granting accsss. How am i supposed to grant my aspnet user access to my sql database?
Can someone please help me ? i am really lost. thank you
I am setting up report services after I installed the report server add-ins on sharepoint 2007.
at first step, Reporting services integration, I put report server web service URL -- http://ssrsdev1/reportserver authentication mode -- windows authentication it went OK.
at second step, Grant Database Access, I put ssrsdev1 for server name (default instance) and then click OK and then I put the user name (a member of local admin group on ssrsdev1) and password, but I always got errors says: Unable to log on with the given username and password. what wrong here? what should I check? I am sure the user and password is right and I can log on to ssrsdev1 physically with admin right without any problem. thanks for any thought on this. zwp
SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 (SSRS) is installed on Vista Ultimate. I cannot access to the http://localhost/ReportServer page. IE posts an internal error HTTP 500.0 (after IE required a Windows account). All the configurations of Reporting Services are OK. In the Log file, there is nothing: the Web Services does not seem to be launched.
By continuing the investigations in IIS 7 (activation of the Rules of follow-up of the requests having failed?, I found the error following:
IIS Trace Detail Highlights No. EventName Details Time 53. (0x8007007b)", ConfigExceptionInfo="" 09:02:33.716
Translation of the french sentence: ErrorCode="Incorrect syntax of the file name, the directory or the volume."
I made a full research on Internet and in the documentation at my disposal and I did not find anything which can advance me towards a beginning of solution
Thank you with all for the assistance which you will be able to bring to me.
I want to give the permission to a user to view only one folder among 10 folders on Home page of report server. I don't want that user to view other folder than his/Her Own folder on report server home page.
I have a question about ssrs security. In report manager I have set a list of users as browsers, and the builtin administrators are content manager in the parent folder where reports are. A user that is not an administrator and neither a user I added, has access to reports.
I'm thinking this person is having access because the data source of the reports use a administrator account to connect to the analysis services using the option Credentials stored securely in the report server with the 2 checkboxes marked (use as windows credentials when connecting to the data source and impersonate the authenticated user).
I simply marked this option because SSRS is in 1 server and SSAS in other and I think kerberos need to be configured and I haven't looked into it, but I think the report access is separated from the data source.
So here's the situation: I'm creating a front-end application to an SQL Server 2000 database and I need to create a new login to the database for the app.
Is it possible (or even; is it a good idea...) to create a logon that only has access to a single table?
Actually, I know it's possible - but I don't want to have to go through the hundreds of tables and deny access to them all! So I guess the question is;
Is there a quick and easy way of granting a login permissions to a single table only?
I need an example of how to grant access to a SQL user to a DB. For the life of me I can't seem to get my syntax correct. My database name is TEST and my username is LEMME_IN and I want to grant the user "Public" access to the db with db_datareader, db_datawriter database role membership.
Hi!I have a user on my database that has only "select" access(db_datareader).Problem is, I also want him to also be able to create/update extendedproperties on tables or views, but without modifying the tables'schema.I played around with GRANT but apparently, a member of "db_datareader"cannot create/modify extended properties on an object if he's not theowner of this object. I tried making this user a member of"db_datawriter", but it didn't work.Nothing short of making him member of "db_ddladmin" worked... but thenthis is too much, the user can now alter to delete tables: i DON'T wantthat!Any ideas anyone? Cheers!Ben
I am build an application that able to update insert delete an entries from my sql server, i create a new account in sql server management studio express so my app can connect to the database thru SQL Server Aurthentication. Delete & update method work well but my insert dont.
I change to the connection string to localhost ( WindowsAurthentication) and it works so i conclude that the problem lies on the sql user access. However I had already ticks everything on object explorer > security > logins > my user properties > Server Roles & User Mapping. What should i do inorder to grant insert/create database access to my sql user? Thanks.
How do I grant a user access to a particular project? I have set up some reports and want other users to look at them as a template to build their reports and keep getting projectname.rptproj.user is denied.
I have a dashboard page that I would like to load fast. But I would also like the user to be able to run the report On-Demand. The report has start date and end date parameters which default to the first and last day of last month. If I use a Cache plan that loads at 6AM the report runs with the default parameters set in the report, the user has to wait until it completes before they can change the parameters.
If I uncheck "use default" parameters in the report I lose the ability to set a cache refresh plan with the default parameters because the option is greyed out. So is there anyway outside of creating a second copy of the report to allow a user to open a report, change the parameters and run it, but also have a way to schedule some sort of Cached report for the default parameters so I can put that on a WebPart page that would load instantly?
