Reporting Services--Problem In Accessing The Subreport Value
Mar 26, 2008
Hi All,
I have a table report which has 10 fields as cols. The last 2 fields come from 2 diffrent subreport, having a single field each. There are also 2 groups in this table. I have to limit the rows by checking each cell in a group is 0. If all the cells have got a 0 then hide the row. I can check for all the cells except the last 2(Subreport).
Since the last 2 cells has only got 2 subreports instead of a textbox( as it is the case for the remaining 8 cells), i don't know how to check for data returning from a subreport. For all the other textboxes i have checked it as ReportItems!textbox1.value=0
I am trying to create a report with a sub report in Sql Server 2012 using Report Builder Version 3. I can run the subreport without any problems. I read where using a shared connection can cause this error so both the main report and the subreport use a connection that is embedded in my report.
For testing, I created the subreport without a parameter and added it to the main report. When I ran it that way, the report worked and sub report displayed the data. So I know it can read from the database. It seems to only give me this error when I am trying to tie the two reports together using a parameter.
How do I hide a subreport if the parent report row containing the subreport is a certain value? I am attempting to create a statement with ageing buckets. In the main body of the report I have to display payments and invoices. If the invoice row is blank, I need to hide the row containing the subreport.
I'm new to Reporting Services 2005. I have a sales report that displays monthly sales figures for a sales rep. I have a subreport that displays a single cell with a value that I then need to subtract from my monthly sales figure for an adjusted total. Is there no way to return a value from a subreport? I've done this using Crystal Reports before and I've looked for hours on end on the web for a RS solution. I can't believe I'm the only one that ever needed this.
I have used SSRS to develop several dashboards for use with Microsoft CRM.
This works very well: the main dashboard page contains a table with subreports in the table cells.
Some of those subreports show reports containing other subreports, and so on.
Drilldowns into detailed lists and into the CRM entities are popup windows.
The problem I’m having now is with a report that is supposed to show the viewers their planned and completed activities on a week-by-week basis. They see a week at a time, and by pressing Next and Back arrows they can see their next and previous weeks’ information.
I need this subreport to refresh in place on the main dashboard page when they change weeks. I’ve tried putting jump-to-report actions and jump-to-url actions on my Next and Back arrow objects, but everything I try opens a new window.
I want the main dashboard to stay accessible, but I don’t want to have to redisplay the whole dashboard page, because that would rerun all of the reports’ queries and take unnecessary time. The only query that needs to be rerun is for the one subreport I’m refreshing.
Any way to refresh a subreport within the parent report?
I was asked to add a subreport in my report footer so that it appears on every page of the report. I spent some time trying to figure it out or find an answer on the web, but it appears it can not be done.
I have two reports 'Product Details' and 'Sales by Product'
When i click on 'Product ID' field in 'Product Details' report, It has to drill through to 'Sales by Product' which has a parameter 'Product ID' in it.
Presently I have a main report and subreport, with the subreport having values for a carbon copy contact, which when it is displayed it shows these values:
Peter Piper #Error #Error peterpiper@mycompany.com #Error Donald Duck #Error #Error donaldduck@mycompany.com #Error etc.
When I run the subreport directly, it correctly returns all the values:
Peter Piper 123-345-6789 Calgary peterpiper@mycompany.com T Donald Duck 987-654-3210 Calgary donaldduck@mycompany.com F
Here are the details on SQL Server 2008:
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP2) - 10.0.4064.0 (X64) Feb 25 2011 13:56:11 Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.0 <X64> (Build 6002: Service Pack 2)
I have a main report and 2 sub reports. I would like to pass the total Premium Paid from 2nd Sub report , and Total Bonus received from 3rd Sub report back to main report.
My scenario is actualy much more complicated than what i had attached below, which i cannot join the query for the 3 different reports together. But for demo purpose, i created the following sample scenario.
My main report is to display the sales summary by person by location.
A person may have more than 1 account number, and each account number is entitly for bonuses. As illustrated below.
I have cascading parameters in 'Main Report'. When i try to pass cascading parameters in to sub-report, I could pass only 'first parameter' value to sub-report.Is there a way that i can pass cascading parameters to the child report?
I've been reading a lot of posts on this subject. I understand that the issue is due to the fact that the subreport is only rendered once. So after the main report is sorted on another column, the cell with the subreport produces an error.
What I want to know is whether or not this is considered a defect. And if it is a defect, is it fixed in another version?
I am currently running SSRS SQL2008R2 SP2 (20.50.4000.0)
I have a SSRS report in which we have a subreport i am trying to hide the link in excel after exporting from report documents, in report my logic is working fine but when we are deploying in SharePoint application then it is not working. Report is not opening.
i am having a problem while executing XML Query. Im using Sql Report Server 2005 and accessing WCF(.SVC) file.
my connection string is : http://localhost:4278/ITV.CSF.FaultHandlingDemo.Host/FetchEntityService.svc?wsdl while trying to execute connection string is not showing any error.
When i am writing query in Query String and when i try to execute it showing "Failed to execute web request for the specified URL.".
my Query string is <Query> <Method Namespace="http://ITV.CSF.FaultHandlingDemo.ServiceContracts/2007/09/" Name="ReadDataFromDataSet"/> <SoapAction>http://ITV.CSF.FaultHandlingDemo.ServiceContracts/2007/09/ReadDataFromDataSet</SoapAction> </Query>
I have installed SQL Express 2K5 with Reporting Services on a server (on our private LAN) running Server 2003 with SP1.
I have requested our ISP to forward port 80 from one of our public IP addresses to the private IP address of the server - I am reasonably confident this is setup properly since they have successfully configured other port forwards for me in the past.
With that said, when I try to access the reporting web site from the internet, I receive an IE error message indicating "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." I am able to view the reporting website from within the LAN. Windows Firewall is currently disabled.
Am I missing something? Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I have to create tablix report using data from 2 datasets. The data source for one of the dataset, DataSet1 is Microsoft SQL Server and the data source for the other dataset, DataSet2 is Excel.
I have to pic 3 columns from DataSet1 and one column from DataSet2.
This is the exception i getThe current action cannot be completed because the user data source credentials that are required to execute this report are not stored in the report server database. ---> The current action cannot be completed because the user data source credentials that are required to execute this report are not stored in the report server database.

I have two report , first is main report which is matrix and have one parameter User_ids which is multi value selection and my second report is basic chart of user_wise performance.
Now, my main report (matrix ) works fine for Multiple selection of users and i have putted one textbox on main report chart which has action properties set for chart report, when user click on chart button it must goes to chart with user selected in main report. Now , i have used expression for parameter to send it like ..
=join(parameter!user_id!value,",") which pass selected value to chart
And when I am selecting single user it passing that value to chart parameter list but , when it is more than one user it errors with conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '121,128' to data type int. But my chart also works when passing 121,128 in user parameter in preview of report .
I am making a book-like report, I am using a report that has a header and calling a sub-report that has it's own header. However the sub-report header is not showing on the parent report. Parent report header is prevailing over the sub-report. Is it possible to have both headers displaying?
I am working on reports in SSRS 2008 (not R2)... There are some reports with parameters that are hidden when the report is accessed through normal URL using ReportViewer.asx..The thing is that these hidden parameters need to be visible when the report is accessed using SSRS Report Manager.
I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified. Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteNonQueryTds(String methodName, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.InternalExecuteNonQuery(DbAsyncResult result, String methodName, Boolean sendToPipe) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Common.DBUtils.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script) at ReportServicesConfigUI.SqlClientTools.SqlTools.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script)
It's driving me crazy, why is it looking for 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB' in the catalog instead of 'ReportServerTempDB'? Is it possible to migrate from 32bit to 64bit?
I have a report which contains a subreport placed inside a list. when the subreport returns no data. it appears as a blank space in the main report. So i want to suppress the list when the subreport returns no data. Can somebody help me with this?
I'm attempting to obtain a cost effective solution for my existing customers to develop reports on their SQL 2000 Server installations using their Reporting Services 2000. With products like Visual Basic.NET 2003 becoming almost impossible to obtain, I have at least one customer who is running into a dead end.
One option possibly is the SQL Express with Advanced Services download, which has Reporting Services. My questions are as follows:
Can the report designer component of SQL Express Reporting Services be configured to connect to an external database (which would happen to be a SQL 2000 database) to establish its datasets? Does the resultant designed report end up in an RDL file? If the customer published this report via the Reporting Services 2000 Report Manager, would the report be able to run?
Sorry for asking a question like this that I could probably answer on my own, but my customer needed this answer yesterday. I have scoured the web and microsoft sites - and posted a question on the official SQL Reporting Services cateogy ... in an attempt to answer the basic question of how to design reports for Reporting Services 2000 in the absence of Visual Basic.NET 2003 (or other .NET 2003 tools) with no success.
I am running a vb.net application that is using the Web Service to issue Update Snapshot. There is a Windows account we are using as a Service account that has the proper permissions to Generate Events. The application is running on AutoSys on a 2003 server. I have confirmed that it will run under this users credentials manually by logging into the server as the user and firing the app. It works without a problem. This was using Default Credentials.
The AutoSys job is configured to run under this user's credentials. There are three ways I have executed this application
>>Through AutoSys running as the user with the proper permissions (this is in place of a Local Service account which is default for AutoSys. This windows user has local admin permissions on the AutoSys server as well as Generate Event permission as confirmed before) >>By logging into the server as Administrator and executing the app with "Run As..." set to the Windows ID >>By switching to new.NetworkCredentials and passing the hardcoded username/pass/domain
For all of the above scenarios - it fails
The ONLY time it successfully issues UpdateSnapshot is when I am logged in to the server as the user in question. In ALL other instances detailed above it fails and the following comes out of the event log
"Line 1: Incorrect syntax near 'MyDomainName'.
I have no idea why it is choking on the Domain Name in all three of those scenarios.
Do I need to impersonate that user through code when passing the Web Service credentials??
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help - I need to wrap this up. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
I recently installed Integration Services on one of our SQL 2005 servers running SP2. For starters I keep getting a warning message during the system test that indicates that there is a difference between the version that is installed and the version I am trying to install. I am using the same media I used for the initial server installation. I am assuming that this message is showing up due to the fact that the media is pre SP 2 and the server is now running SP2 allong with build/hotfix #3200. None the less the installation seems to have completed without errors. The problem I am having is when I connect to Integration services and try to expand the different directories I get the following error

I have tried a number of different fixes that i have found on the web but none have resolved the issue. If there is anyone out there that has experienced this issue and has been able to resolve it your feed back would be greatly appreciated.
I work in a big project and we will begin in using reporting services as the base technique for reports and I will be responsible for this part. but I have a problem I will discuss in the following:
Currently: We use currently devexpress reports and we have 2 languages(Arabic and English). the data in tables saved in two ways (Arabic and English). when the end user change the language of the web site the report data language changed when run it.
Example:
we have table with (ID, NAME_AR, NAME_EN, JobTitle_AR, JobTitle_EN). designed report will display(ID, NAME_EN, JobTitle_EN) . but the end user change the language of the system the report will
The code is this: Public Sub Main() Dim directory As DirectoryServices.DirectorySearcher Dim result As DirectoryServices.SearchResult Dim email As String email = Dts.Variables("email").Value.ToString Try directory = New _ DirectoryServices.DirectorySearcher("(mail=" & email & ")") result = directory.FindOne Dts.Variables("name").Value = _ result.Properties("name").ToString() Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success Catch ex As Exception Dts.Events.FireError(0, _ "Script Task Example", _ ex.Message & ControlChars.CrLf & ex.StackTrace, _ String.Empty, 0) Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Failure End Try Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success End Sub End Class
My problem is I'm not getting a value for 'Name' instead when I display in a dataflow task (using dataviewer)following the script task the value of Name = 'System.DirectoryServices.ResultPropertyValueCollection'
It's seems like it is telling me its property not the value. I'm not a VB/.Net developer so I'm just guessing as to what the value means.
I'm working on a web project that will display the reports in an iframe to the user. When I was using windows security It worked perfectly.
Now my boss wants me to use form based authentication instead that can authenticate against our current Active Directory. This is working perfectly and does authenticate correctly. The only problem is that when I load a report in the iframe http://myserver/reportserver/myreport-blah reporting services prompts the user to enter in windows credentials. Is there anyway to pass my form credentials to the report server so that the user doesn't have to log in again.
Both the report server and the web app are on the same server BUT in different virtual directories.
PS: I tried using the reportviewer control but it does not display things correctly. For example, I have use a multi select dropdown on the reports and it messes up the drop down when the user only has 1 selection (hiding the selection). If the user has more than one selection the drop down uses scroll bars. I would use the reportviewer control if it displayed exactly like it does when using alternate URL method.
We have a system that uses 3 databases, one for Membership db standard MS membership only the application has access to that data, one with User Data which we would like to make multi-tenant using Schema-Separation, and a third read-only reference db which is Common Market data for all users.we anticipate Tenant numbers in the thousands.Current we have multiple queries which create joins between the Main db and the Reference database using something like
Selec S.*, M.ScheduleDate, M.substation from Sites S left outer join Market.dbo.MarketUnit M where S.MarketUnitID = M.MarketUnitID
i'm planning to have a new schema for each Tenant on the Main Database, so I would create a Schema T1 for the first customer, a user T1User with access to T1 schema. and grant T1User access to Market.dbo. My First question is are there any concerns about the above T1User setup? My second question is, are there any tools which would automate the setup of the multi-tenant with schema separation, or should I just script the whole Main Database schema creation and replace schema name globally and then execute the script?
My Third question, how about upgrade and updates... currently using VS to compare dev/qa/prod database to identify changed which need to be promoted, and pushing updates... this could be a big pain to promote code to thousands of Schemas. grantedwe will likely keep the overall number of schemas spread over different SQL servers.
