Request For The Permission Of Type System.Net.Mail.SmtpPermission

Dec 5, 2006

Hi all

I have some problems with sending Mail over System.Net.Mail ...
I have made a C# Class which sends mail, and it works fine.
Now I have added this assembly to SQL Server 2005,
I made the SQL function and so on.

When I try to run it I get the following message:
Msg 50000, Level 16, State 1, Procedure SendMail, Line 114
Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.Mail.SmtpPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

Would be very very happy for any comments !!

Thanks and best regards

System.Security.SecurityException: Request For The Permission Of Type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data

Aug 21, 2006

I have created a windows library control that accesses a local sql database

I tried the following strings for connecting

Dim connectionString As String = "Data Source=localhostSQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=TimeSheet;Trusted_Connection = true"

Dim connectionString As String = "Data Source=localhostSQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=TimeSheet;Integrated Security=SSPI"

I am not running the webpage in a virtual directory but in

C:Inetpubwwwrootusercontrol

and I have a simple index.html that tries to read from an sql db but throws

the error

System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.PermissionDemand()
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnectionFactory.PermissionDemand(DbConnection outerConnection)

etc etc

The action that failed was:
Demand
The type of the first permission that failed was:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission
The Zone of the assembly that failed was:
Trusted

I looked into the .net config utility but it says unrestricted and I tried adding it to the trusted internet zones in ie options security

I think that a windows form connecting to a sql database running in a webpage should be simple

to configure what am I missing?

Request For The Permission Of Type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, Pu

Mar 12, 2008

I created a .net console application within which I connect to a sql server (not local) as follows,

string conn_str = "Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=QuantEquitySql;Data Source=server name";

SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(conn_str);

conn.Open();
.
Everything works fine when I run it from my computer. When I try to run it from a network share I get the following error,

Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

I am using Visual Studio 2005 and .Net framwork v2.0.50727.

Does anybody know a fix to this problem?

Thanks

Unable To Cast Object Of Type 'System.String' To Type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Parameter'.

I'm getting this error on a vb.net page the needs to execute two separate stored procedures.  The first one, is the main insert, and returns the identity value for the ClientID.  The second stored procedure inserts data, but needs to insert the ClientID returned in the first stored procedure.  What am I doing wrong with including the identity value "ClientID" in the second stored procedure?

Unable To Cast Object Of Type 'System.DBNull' To Type 'System.Byte[]'.

Aug 13, 2007

Hi,
I have developed a custom server control for .NET Framework 2.0. The server control has a property named BinaryData of type byte[]. I marked this property to be data bindable. Now, I have varbinary(Max) type of field in my SQL Database and I have used SQLDataSource and bound this varbinary(Max) field with the property BinaryData (byte[]) of my control. It is working fine as long as the data value is not NULL. Now, In my control, I have handled the NULL value so that no Exception is thrown. Still, when I bind this property using the SQLDataSource, I get Error "Unable to cast object of type 'System.DBNull' to type 'System.Byte[]'." I am not sure if I can do anything to stop this erro within my control. If it is not possible from the control, then what is the workaround that I can do in my ASPX page in order to stop this error ?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Request For Info - Detecting DB Changes And Batching For E-mail

Feb 7, 2006

I have a .NET app recently ported from 1.1 to 2.0 with a pending feature request.  I'd first like to state that I'm not asking anyone for the programmatic answer, unless of course, you'd like to provide it.  I'm simply asking the best way to accomplish this task with the tools I have available to me (VS 2005, SQL 2000 and 2005).  I do not consider myself a professional .NET or T-SQL programmer but I do have a good understanding of the technologies so that I can find what I need to know once I know I'm going about something the right way.
The application I wrote, from scratch, manages News, Featured Connections, and FAQs for a web site.  It was designed in a multi-layer approach where there are:
items  -> assigned to categories -> assigned to users
So if user Fred is granted rights to category A, when he authenticates to the app he can Add/Change/Delete any item in category A.  Simple enough.  But also what Fred can do is see all the other items other users have created and *schedule* any relevant item related to his web page to appear within his own items even tho he has no rights to change that item in the admin interface.
The feature request is a notification service, so that Fred gets an e-mail when someone has added a new item or edited an existing one.  I don't want Fred to get an e-mail *every* time an item is created or edited, that would be big bother and would generate lots of e-mails.  What  I'd like to do is send Fred an e-mail sometime in the middle of the night that informs him of the items added or changed since his last login, so that at his choosing he can go into the admin interface and schedule one or more of those items for his page.
Should I just write a new console app that does this, compile it and schedule the .EXE to run at midnight? Or is there a better way to leverage the new features in SQL 2005 (extended strored procs, triggers) and .NET to do this a better way?  Currently, the DB is in SQL 2000 but I have no problems moving it to SQL 2005 if that helps me in some way. Thanks in advance for your comments.
...Bill

Performing A Wget Type Web Request From SSIS (Newbie)

Aug 25, 2006

Hello, I have a file I need to retrieve nightly from a web server, it's not a SOAP request. It's just a wget call to a remote php script that returns a csv file.

I can't seem to find a way to do this, I see ftp, and web service, but no web get type of function. Is this not available in IS as provided from microsoft, and something I'm going to have to write? Seems like this type of thing would be allmost as common as ftp.

If anyone has any suggestions, any help would be be greatly appreciated. Right now, it looks like I'm going to have to use an external wget.exe to get the file.

Thanks

SQL 2012 :: System Cannot Contact A Domain Controller To Service Authentication Request

Dec 16, 2013

I am attempting to set up an always on cluster on VMware for testing. setting up everything through the Failover cluster is fine, the trouble comes when I try to set up the AlwaysOn availability group. Whenever I attempt to specify a network location I receive the following error: Operating System Error 1265(The system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request..).

I looked up this error and most sites point towards a Windows 8 homegroup issue. Since this is a on a domain, I don't think it is relevant. I also added the service accounts from server A to Server B and visa versa. I even added the computer objects to its opposite partner..I have attempted to use "Join Only" and do a manual copy.

A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user defined routine or aggregate 'HelloWorld': System.Security.SecurityException:
Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.Mail.SmtpPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.System.Security.SecurityException:    at System.Security.CodeAccessSecurityEngine.Check(Object demand, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean isPermSet)   at System.Security.CodeAccessPermission.Demand()   at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Initialize()   at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient..ctor(String host)   at StoredProcedures.HelloWorld().
How do I handle the SmtpPermission?
Here is the stored proc
public static void HelloWorld()    {                     MailMessage mail = new MailMessage();
        //set the addresses        mail.From = new MailAddress("test@test.EDU");        mail.To.Add("test@test.EDU");
        //set the content        mail.Subject = "Hello World";        mail.Body = "Did you get this? I am emailing from a CLR stored proc!";
        //send the message        SmtpClient smtp = new SmtpClient("127.0.0.1");        smtp.Send(mail);
    }

System.Data.OracleClient.OraclePermission Permission Denial

Jun 18, 2007

I am getting the following System.Data.OracleClient.OraclePermission Denial: "System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.OracleClient.OraclePermission, System.Data.OracleClient, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed."

I am using SQL Server 2005 to connect to Oracle to pull data, format it then store the data into a SQL Server database table. I used the .Net Framework 2.0 Configuration Manager to create a group and associate a full execution permission to the group. Did anyone else get this error?

Thanks.

Sending Emails With System.Net.Mail To Addresses From A SQL Query

Sep 13, 2007

I have the following code on a form:
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="building_a" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:vol1ConnectionString4 %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT [E_MAIL] FROM [Sheet4$] WHERE ([BUILDING] LIKE '%' + @BUILDING+ '%')" OnSelecting="building_a_Selecting">
  <SelectParameters>
    <asp:Parameter DefaultValue="a" Name="BUILDING" Type="String" />
  </SelectParameters>
</asp:SqlDataSource>
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="building_b" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:vol1ConnectionString4 %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT [E_MAIL] FROM [Sheet4$] WHERE ([BUILDING] LIKE '%' + @BUILDING+ '%')" OnSelecting="building_b_Selecting">
  <SelectParameters>
    <asp:Parameter DefaultValue="b" Name="BUILDING" Type="String" />
  </SelectParameters></asp:SqlDataSource>
<asp:TextBox ID="subj" runat="server" Width="500px">Subject</asp:TextBox><br /><br />
<asp:TextBox ID="messg" runat="server" Rows="20" TextMode="MultiLine" Width="500px">Message</asp:TextBox><br /><br />
<asp:Button ID="bldga" runat="server" Text="Building A" OnClick="Button1_Click" /><br /><br /><asp:Button ID="bldgb" runat="server" Text="Building B" OnClick="Button2_Click" /><br /><br />
<asp:Label ID="resultLabel1" runat="server" ForeColor="red"></asp:Label>
 And I have the following code behind:protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{SmtpClient smtpClient = new SmtpClient();
MailMessage message = new MailMessage();
try
{MailAddress fromAddress = new MailAddress("me@mydomain.com", "My Name");MailAddress toAddress = new MailAddress("them@theirdomain.com");
message.From = fromAddress;
message.To.Add(toAddress);
message.Subject = subj.Text;message.IsBodyHtml = false;
message.Body = messg.Text;smtpClient.Host = "myhost";
smtpClient.Send(message);resultLabel1.Text = "Email sent!";
}catch
{resultLabel1.Text = "Send failure";
}
}
The queries get e-mail addresses from a SQL database for all people who work in a particular building.
The buttons will send an email if I give a To address.
How do I write the code so that clicking on the "Building A" button will send the e-mail to the addresses from the query results individually?
Any ideas?

Database Mail Attachments Filling Up The System Drive!

Apr 30, 2007

Hi all,

Has anyone run into this issue before?

My company uses database mail extensively for alerting and the like, and most emails sent have attachments. We've put in place procedures for removing emails older than a month from the MSDB database, however we've now had a client server completely run out of the disk space due to attachments being stored in the C:Documents and SettingsUserLocal SettingsTemp folder!?!

When I check the sysmail_delete_mailitems_sp sproc, it only removes entries in the MSDB tables, and doesn't remove these temporary files in the temp directory.

Does anyone know why SQL Server stores them in the temp directory of the service account user, as well as how we can remove them (apart from manually deleting the files), as we need to have an automated process for cleaning up emails, and at the moment SQL Server 2005 doesn't handle this very well.

I've checked this on our test server as well, and we're getting the same there, and this server is running the latest SP2 + hot fixes.

Thanks,

Reece.

Putting System Variables In A Send Mail Task

Jul 13, 2006

KB Article 906547 suggest that it's possible to have system variables in the Subject & Body of a Send Email Task. Such as this:

"Package>>> " + @[System::PackageName] +" was executed at>>> " + (DT_WSTR, 40) @[System::StartTime] + " by user>>> " + @[System::UserName] + " on Machine>>> " + @[System::MachineName]

Or this in an OnError event handler:

"Error in the task: " + @[System::SourceName] + "with the ID: " + @[System::SourceID] + " has failed at: " + (DT_WSTR, 20) @[System::ContainerStartTime] + "."

But when I do this I just get this exact text, no variables.

I'm obviously missing something basic but I can't find it. Can anyone offer a suggestion please?
