Restore Failed - The Path H: Has Invalid Attributes

Jul 5, 2007

Hi

Hopefully someone can help me.

I'm trying to restore my DB to a new server and also a new instance of SQL 2005 SP2+ hotfix KB934458.

I've successfully restored my MSDB database and everything seems to be working fine, but now when I'm trying to do a restore of my Database RMc to the attached SAN,

I'm getting the error:

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The path 'H:' has invalid attributes. It needs to be a directory. It must not be hidden, read-only, or on a removable drive. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)

the H: is the Drive letter for my attached SAN.

The path I'm trying to give is H:\DBData for the MDF-file and the H:DBLog for the LDF-file.

I have the DB running on another server also with a SAN attached and there are no problems.

I also moved the MSDB to another drive on the SAN - a G-drive without any problems.

Is there someone who have a good idea?

TSloth :-)

I copied and pasted the path on the URL and it worked. What did I miss in the code? Why strHistoryID is required as it is nothing? Please refer to http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.wssux.reportingserviceswebservice.rsexecutionservice2005.reportexecutionservice.render.aspx

Cannot Delete Package: Invalid Path

May 2, 2008

I used the DTSmigration wizard to transfer DTS jobs from SQL2000 to SQL2005. The wizard transfered the old DTP packages without error but now I cannot access some of them. The old DTS packages had names of the form <program_name>**<output_type> for example JM-102**excell. When I try to access (or delete) the new packages in SSIS I get the error:

The path is not valid.
Parameter name: packagePath (MsDtsSrvr)

How can I delete these packages?

Message Queue Task - Invalid Path Problem

Nov 17, 2007

I'm trying to use the message queue task in SSIS 2005 and not getting very far. Right off the bat I'm trying to create a Message Queue Connection Manager and when I enter the path, trying both "seawxxxx estq" (my local computer name) or ". estq" and test it, it comes back with "invalid path". Have done quite a bit of searching around and can't find anything on this particular error.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Invalid Destination Path When Trying To Create Distribution Database

Jun 6, 2007

Hello. I am attempting to add a distribution database to an instance of SQL Server on my local PC. I am using SQL 2005 Developer Edition. I am able to set the instance up as a distributor using the following command:

exec sp_adddistributor @distributor = N'computernameinstancename'

I use the following command to create the distribution database:

exec sp_adddistributiondb @database = N'distribution', @data_folder = N'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLData',

@data_file_size = 4, @log_folder = N'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLData',

I get the following error when executing that command:

Msg 14430, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_adddistributiondb, Line 214

Invalid destination path C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLData.

It's not due to permissions on that particular folder. I have tried using other folders, all with the same results. Also, I am an Administrator on the PC, so I have full permissions. I have tried running the SQL Server services as myself and Local System. Same results both times. Co-workers with apparently the same setup are able to create the distribution database without a problem.

Has anybody had this type of problem?

Thanks,

Evan

SSIS FTP Task Variable Remote Path Invalid

Jun 17, 2006

I am working on the SSIS FTP Task that transfer file from one FTP server to local location, rename the file name, and finally transfer the renamed file to another FTP server. So I defined 2 FTP tasks.

For the FTP file receive operation, I need the remote path to be updated by a script and pass to the user define variable. So I set TRUE to IsRemotePathVariable. In the RemoteVariable, I set User::FTPSourcePath where the variable is set in the script with "/DMFTP/filename1.jpg"

For the FTP file send operation, I set TRUE to IsRemotePathVariable. In the RemoteVariable, I set User::FTPDestPath where the variable is set in the script with "/DestFTP/"

After all the setting, the FTP Task box show me the error as "Variable "FTPSourcePath" doesn't start with "/". Another FTP box show me "Variable "FTPDestPath" doesn't start with "/"

Can anyone help me on this problem?? Thanks.

SQL 2012 :: SSIS FTP - Invalid Local Path / Trying To Send Files

Oct 27, 2015

I have created a FTP Task which is returning the value, "Error: 0x0 at FTP Task, SFTP Task: Invalid local path."

In my DB Table, the table contains a field for the location of files to be Ftp'd which is: C:/temp/ftp/OB/*

I believe my settings are correct and am curious to know if the above string should work or if I need a different syntax for the local variable.

Master Data Services :: Change Order Of Attributes Using Arrows Jumps Over 24 Attributes

Jun 30, 2015

I am working in SQL Server Master Data Services  Version 11.0.5058.0 (SP 2).

I have been asked to group all the financial attributes together.  When I move one of the attributes up using the arrows, it works good jumping over one attribute at a time.  Then I reach a section of attributes where it leap frogs over 24 attributes.

It appears these 24 attributes are in a subgroup but there are no attribute groups and I removed the subscription view from the entity.  If I move one of the 24 attributes in the group, it moves it outside of the 24 attributes.

This is under leaf member attributes.  There are no collection or consolidated groups.

Restore Log Looking For Log Path...

May 10, 2007

I am having difficulty restoring a database (DB_1) consists of 2 datafiles and one log file, DB Structure is as following:

Filegroup PRIMARY with file name 'fnm_data' with physical file name and location D:dbfile_1.mdf,
Filegroup 'FG1' with file name 'fgnm1_data1' with physical file name and location F:dbfile_FG1.mdf,
One log file with file name 'fnm_log' with physical file name and location (E:loglog_db.ldf)

{Note} Logfile resides on E drive whereas Datafiles reside on several other drives.

I need to restore the DB on another machine. And I need to move the log file to a drive other than E.In this case it is K drive. Hence I have used the following code,

restore log DB_1 from disk='M:kupccciclog.txt'

WITH RESTRICTED_USER , MOVE 'fnm_log'

TO 'K:DBlog_db.ldf', recovery, replace,RESTART

go

When I try to restore from backup files, I keep error message saying "Physical file name E:loglog_db.ldf may be incorrect." 'fnm_log' cannot be restored. Use Move command to identify a valid location for the file.

Even though I am using Move command to move the log file.

Then I found that if I create a drive with E: and a folder named 'log' then restore program runs alright. That is, when E:log exists then code does run smoothly. All the restore code is looking for the presence of path of the log file from where it is been backed up. In this case it is E:log folder. Once the database is restored I could kill that directory and nothing happens. Also log file has been restored on K:DB only.

Why the restore code is looking for the initial drive letter and path even though I have used Move command? Is there an issue in my code?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Analysis :: Dimensions Attributes - Drag All Or Some Specific Attributes

May 24, 2015

I'm using a DW from Northwind database to build a cube to do some analitical taks. I already create the cube and now I am "cleaning" the dimensions. I'm having some difficults to understand the logical off this part. The reason is that When I create the Data Source View, I only import the Foreign Keys that connect the Dimensions to Fact_Table. I have to drag the attributes of Dimension from Data Source View to the tab attributes?

Imagine this:

I have the following dimension:

Dim_Customer:
Customer_ID
Name_Customer
Job_Function
Date_of_Birth
Contact
Address
City
Country

When I create the cube only Customer_ID appears in attributes tab, it's normal?

One more question:

I don't want to create a hierarchy like:

Customer ID -> Name_Customer
Customer ID -> Date_of_Birth
Customer ID -> Address
Customer ID -> City
Customer ID -> Country

My idea is to create the following hierarchy:

Name_Customer -> Date_of_Birth ->  Address ->  City -> Country

But the first hierarchy that I show is always appears to me. Do you know what is happens?

RESTORE LOG With Different Recovery Path

Nov 15, 2006

I'm trying to RESTORE LOG with a different recovery path. Is there a way to do this? I'm getting the below error. I know I could RESTORE from the beginning, but need to RESTORE the log file to the same database schema but different database and server. What steps do I need to do?

This backup set cannot be applied because it is on a recovery path that is inconsistent with the database. The recovery path is the sequence of data and log backups that have brought the database to a particular recovery point. Find a compatible backup to restore, or restore the rest of the database to match a recovery point within this backup set, which will restore the database to a different point in time. For more information about recovery paths, see SQL Server Books Online.

Car's Attributes Should Be &>= Spec's Attributes (was Help With Query)

Nov 11, 2004

Hello all-

I have a specification table that has some attributes defined.
SpecId - Id of the specification
Attribute - Attribute of the spec. (Like Color, HP etc)
Value - Is the value of the attribute
Then I have a car table that actually has information about the cars. Intention is to take each specification and match the cars that match the specification. If the car has more attributes than the spec, we ignore the extra attributes for the match. But if the car has less attributes, we don't even consider the car as a match (even if the attributes present, match). To summarize, the car's attributes should be >= spec's attributes.

The code I have below is bad because I am joining the same tables twice. In addition, it fails in the condition "the car's attributes should be >= spec's attributes"

Any help is greatly appreciated.

DECLARE @Specification TABLE
(SpecId VARCHAR(10),
AttributeVARCHAR(100),
ValueVARCHAR(100))

DECLARE @Car TABLE
(CarName VARCHAR(10),
AttributeVARCHAR(100),
ValueVARCHAR(100))

INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S1', 'Type', 'Sedan')
INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S1', 'Transmission', 'Auto')
INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S1', 'HP', '220')

INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S2', 'Type', 'SUV')
INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S2', 'Transmission', 'Manual')
INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S2', 'HP', '300')

INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Accord', 'Type', 'Sedan')
INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Accord', 'Transmission', 'Auto')
INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Accord', 'HP', '220')
INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Accord', 'Color', 'Black')

INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Escape', 'HP', '300')

INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Explorer', 'Type', 'SUV')
INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Explorer', 'Transmission', 'Manual')

SELECT DISTINCT Spec.SpecId, Car.CarName
FROM @Specification Spec
INNER JOIN @Car Car
ON Spec.Attribute = Car.Attribute
AND Spec.Value = Car.Value
WHERE Spec.SpecId NOT IN (SELECT Spec.SpecId

Transact SQL :: Verify Complete Restore Path (check For Missing Files)

Jul 29, 2015

In SQL Studio, I can go to the restore window and the click "verify backup media". This would check the restore plan listed in this window and check if some of the file are missed. Is there any way to reach this with TQSL? I know there is a "restore verify" command, but this will only verify one backup/file and not the complete restore path. I'm looking for a TSQL solution which is able to control that all necessary backup files are still present on the file System and not moved or deleted (e.g through cleanup task).

Anyone got any ideas?

We aren't exactly sure how big the first database was when the backup was done but if the new database isn't big enough to contain the backed up data, wouldn't we get a more meaningful error?

Failed To Obtain TransactionDispenserInterface And Invalid LSN, Databases Suspect

Jan 20, 2004

All of a sudden I have 4 of my databases, including pubs that are all marked suspect and seem to be un-recoverable. I have followed the Resetting the suspect status directions as well as trying to attach only the .mdf files but still run into problems reading the .ldf file. I have not tried to do the procedure of creating another database with the same name and structure then swapping the files to trick SQl but will do so if I need to. Does anyone know why this happens all of a sudden to multile databases, of which Pubs I have never used for anything??

In my log files during startup I get this error

Failed to obtain TransactionDispenserInterface: Result Code = 0x8004d01b

Then this error for every database that is suspect, (the actual LSN numbers are different for each one).

The LSN (4:517:1) passed to log scan in database 'pubs' is invalid..
Is there anything else I can do to prevent this from happening or recover the DB's

Thanks

Query Execution Failed For Data Set 'DataSource1'. Invalid Object Name 'incident'.

Jul 12, 2007

Here's the full story...

I'm trying to get some proof of concept reports made for a MOSS / SQL Server 2005 (sp2) Integrated solution. I have a simple report that displays everything in the 'incident' uploaded to the MOSS server, and it works fine.

I've made another report that uses a line chart to plot some averages. This report, called 'Average Control Time by Weekday' works 100% ok in VS2005 preview mode and both reports use the same datasource. The report is uploaded and the dataset is all linked up.

When I view the report (by clicking on it's link on my Sharepoint Site), however, I get an error:

An error has occurred during report processing.

Query execution failed for data set 'DataSource1'.

Invalid object name 'incident'.

I've checked the SQL that was run in the SQL Server Profiler to see what transactions were hitting the database. The query that the report makes when in VS2005 Preview mode is precicely the same as what Sharepoint makes when it tries to render the report.

I made another plain report (just a table view) that uses the same query as the 'Average Control' report and tested it on Sharepoint, and it works perfectly. Any ideas?

p.s. I even asked I-God (http://www.titane.ca/concordia/dfar251/igod/main.html) all he said was that I would need a court order to get rid of the recursion in AIML... and then asked for my credit card number.

Restore Database Failed

Apr 13, 2006

Hi,

I backed up a database to drive f:, then did restore and set options to move the .mdf and .ldf files to different HDs (f: for .mdf and d: for .ldf).

During restore I got a disk IO error. The restore terminated abnormally. Now I have no DB but the .mdf and the .ldf have been moved to the HDs that I specified in the restore options.

I cannot move the .bak file from the f: it gives me an IO error when I try this. It did allow me to copy the .mdf from f: to d:

I need to know how to recover the db frm the .mdf and .ldf files. I have tried using sp_attach_db and got the following error:

An error occurred while processing the log for database 'MyDB'

Please help.

Thank you,

Jeff

Failed To Generate A User Instance Of SQL Server Due To Failure In Retrieving The User's Local Application Data Path

Jun 21, 2005

I installed my asp.net 2.0 web application  and sql express june editon on my windows 2003 server. When the application tries to reach the database i am getting the following error"Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed."I can understand that it has something to do with user right but more than that I am pretty lost. Can anyone translate this error for me and give me some tips on what do to.I checked first the user running the sql express service and saw it was the NETWORK SERVICE user. I changed it to be the local system account but that did not make any difference. The application is running just fine on my local computer(Win XP sp2). This one has SQL express April edition though.

Users And Logins Failed To Restore?

Aug 30, 2004

HI guys,

I just restored a database on a new server with a backup(complete backup stored in backup device) from another database on another server using the "with move" option. In fact here was my process:

Alter database ngauge SET SINGLE_USER WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE

restore database ngauge
from disk = 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQLBACKUPgauge1.BAK'
with move 'NGAUGE' to 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQLDatagauge_Data.MDF',
move 'NGAUGE_Log' to 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQLDatagauge_Log.LDF'

Alter database ngauge SET READ_WRITE

it worked.

But it did not move the 98 or so users/logins...from the source database
what is going on??? what am I doing wrong??!!

Please help!
