Anybody know how to restore a backup of a database (done via a maintenance plan) from one server, to overwrite a database sited on another server. I can't manage to point it to a directory on the Server where the backup resides (I've shared the directory at NT level).

In Windows Server 2012. How do I do a System Restore to a previous restore point?I need to install the 64 bit and 32 bit Oracle Client Install for connections in SSIS and to create Oracle Linked Servers.
If you make a mistake it is not fun removing it. Sometimes it corrupts the machine and it is difficult to uninstall since there is not an Oracle Universal installer for Oracle 11g.If you install the 32 bit before the 64 you mess up the machine.how to create a restore point.
I need solve this problem. I have this software running at 2 locations (1 and 2)
- the 1) got a app server and the data base, in the same computer;
- the 2) got a app server, acessing the data base of the 1)
- the conection between the two is all right, like a local network, by air.
- at 1) it runs all right, but the 2), when have to acess the data base (at 1), the conection becames too
slowwwwwwww.... impossible to work
Somebody acess data base via internet, or acess a data base that stay phisically away from the app server ??
Could it be a data trasmisson protocol problem ???

My recommendation to my manager is to base recovery on .bak and .trn files. However the .mdf and .ldf files can be backed up without being detached and I am wondering about the value of these file backups. He has set up backups to external drive of the .mdf and .ldf but not of the .bak and .trn files that I have set up. His recovery strategy is based on complete backup of the machine and bare metal recovery. I am finding it hard to defend my preference for going about recovery with a new SQL Server installation, then restoring .bak files. Has tried recovery from .mdf and .ldf? Please note that all the database files (system and user) are on a single drive, I think this was set up to allow the machine to be clustered. We are intending to do a test rebuild of the machine from his backups.

I' m trying to execute activeX script from a job. I could do it successfully. But when i tried to access data base the job is failed when running.
My Requirement : I would like to send a mail in a scheduled base using a job and activeX script.
I could send a mail giving static parameters. But as i need to make the parameter values of activeX script dynamic, i tried to connect data base and retrieve the required data as shown below.
When i parse the script it showed success.But this is failing when it is running.

I have a situation where I have Table A, Table B.
View C is created by joining table A and table B.
I have written a instead of trigger D on view C.
I do not insert/update/delete on the view directly.
For every insert/update in table A /B the values should get insert/update in the view respectively. This insert/update on view should invoke the trigger.
And I am unable to see this trigger work on the view if any insert/update occurs on base table level.
Trigger is working only if any operation is done directly on the view.
I am using MS visual web developer and i get a lot of things but one
thing i do not get is why is it when i set up the web.config to a data
base i made on my own and run the website and create an account it
creates a new data base and creates that new account in that new

Run a set of scripts to create a base database - empty database with minimum amounts of data (i.e. lookup data and seed data). So that when a new development project begins all that is needed to build the database is to run these scripts.
The challenges we face is managing these scripts. It would be easier from a manual perspective to only have 5-6 scripts, so that we do not need to manually open and execute each script (representing an object). The problem with this is when you modify a stored procedure, you modify it in your version control platform (which is single object based) and then you need to find and replace the object in your script.
What we are looking to do is buy or build an application to manage these files for us. I was wondering if anyone has purchased a solution to accomodate this?
We currently have ApexSQL Diff - which works well to compare contents of databases (structurally it does well, seems to have a problem comparing data but that is another discussion). What it does not do well is script out an entire database, and if it were to do this, it would put it all in one file.
