ResultSet Can Not Re-read Row Data For BLOB Type In SqlServer 2000

Jul 11, 2005

I am using SqlServer 2000 and Jdbc connectivity in my application on windows. So, when i execute a query on Sqlserver database as :

Select * from DBO.RS_TABLELOB where Rep_sync_id > 15 and Rep_server_name != 'replicator' order by Rep_sync_id;

This problem is only with the BLOB data types in table RS_TABLELOB.

Then i got an error as:

Please help me out, if you have any idea!!!

Thanks in advance

BLOB Data Type

Feb 24, 2004

Does anyone have any experience of this type of data please? I have been asked to work on a project where it looks like we will be taking MS Office files and scanned images and storing them in a SQL 2000 db so that they can be aquired by a third party application. I am most intereested in the size of the records as the server may need upgrading, for space and performance.
I am also interested in how a BLOB record is created, is it a particular save process from Word / Excel etc or can you specify to import as a BLOB from a SQL script?

Any info welcomed as i really dont know where to start !!!

TIA

Limit On Blob/image Data Type In SQL Compact 3.5 SP 1 BETA For ADO Entity Framework?

Apr 5, 2008

Hi! I tried to save some image data, but it get truncated at 8000 (the table column is defined as Image). I then wrote a converter to try ntext-datatype instead, but it gets truncated at 4000.

Error message:
System.Data.SqlServerCe: @3 : String truncation: max=4000, len=4168

The code uses only ADO entity framework for database access. Is there a way to store binary data larger than 8000 bytes? I am running SQL Compact 3.5 sp 1 BETA.

Problem Unicode Data 0x2300 In SQLServer 2000 SQLServer 2005 Express

Sep 20, 2006

Hi experts;
I have a problem with unicode character 0x2300
I created this table
create table testunicode (Bez nchar(128))

Insert Data
insert into testunicode (Bez)values('Œ€„¢')
with 2 Unicode characters
Œ€ = 0x2300
„¢ = 0x2122

Selecting the data
select Bez from testunicode
I see
"?„¢"

„¢ = 0x2122 is ok but instead of 0x2300 there is 0x3f

When I modify the insert statement like that ( 8960 = 0x2300 )
insert into testunicode (Bez)values(NCHAR(8960)+'„¢')

and select again voila i see
"Œ€„¢"
Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks

Report Builder recognises this as if it was an image...

Is Ssis The Only Technology That Can Read/write Raw Data Type Files?

Sep 21, 2007

I'm contemplating a sql server archive strategy that rolls really old data off any sort of dbms and onto low cost media like dvds in a non relational archive format. I dont want to ever worry about these archives spanning different versions of sql when i go to retrieve a range of data that happens to span sql versions (eg one disc was sourced from 2005 another by 2008 but my report needs a union of both).

So I'm thinking about neutral/efficient formats for these archives and a live homegrown catalog that can determine exactly what disc(s) need to be mounted based on passed from and to date parameters...all so that the data that might span discs (and versions and maybe even schemas) can be merged and loaded into my sql version d'jour's "throw away" archive database for a one time report or other unplanned activity.

I remember raw data types being very convenient as an ETL format for our customers who have ssis, but wouldn't want our sqlexpress customers to be left without the archiving capability. Do the "things" that read and write raw data files really originate in some special T-SQL command that all sql editions can use, or is it strictly an ssis thing?

Sum Of Column Of Blob Type

Here is what ishappening, if I run it as below I get 23736000 for a result.select sum(datalength (cast(document AS binary(8000)))) fromplan_reportIf I run it like this select sum(datalength (cast(document ASvarbinary(8000)))) from plan_reportI get 23736000 also as a resultIf I run it like this select sum(datalength (cast(document ASvarbinary))) from plan_reportI get 89010 this as a resultIf I run this: select datalength(document) from plan_report then Iget a result for each row and when I sum those rows I get 5584452854this as a result.I do not believe the first 3 queries are returning correct result setsdue to the limit on the fields (binary/varbinary) and since this is animage field I cannot convert to anything else.....I am out of ideas, and any help you can give me will be greatlyappreciated...

Trying To 'load' A Copy Of A SQLServer 2000 Database To SQLServer 2005 Express

Apr 18, 2008

I am trying to 'load' a copy of a SQLServer 2000 database to SQLServer 2005 Express (on another host). The copy was provided by someone else - it came to me as a MDF file only, no LDF file.

I have tried to Attach the database and it fails with a failure to load the LDF. Is there any way to bypass this issue without the LDF or do I have to have that?

The provider of the database says I can create a new database and just point to the MDF as the data source but I can't seem to find a way to do that? I am using SQL Server Management Studio Express.

Thanks!!

SQL Server 2000 And Milliseconds (datetime Data Type)

Jan 18, 2007

I'm running into a constant issue of SQL Server modifying themillisecond part of a timestamp insert from another application. Theapplication inserts timestamp which includes a millisecond portion as astring (varchar). But when an SQL Server moves this data to anothertable (for reporting), the string is inserted in a datetime field, themillisecond field invariably changes by 1-2 milliseconds for everysingle data point inserted. Given the time critical nature of this data(to a millisecond), its almost impossible to avoid this other than toleave the data as string type. But this drives the analytical reportingfolks wild as report queries based on time criteria are getting messedup. Any ideas how to force SQL Server not to mess around with themillisecond value? Does this problem exist with SQL Server 2005 as well?

Load Blob Into DB Using A Stored Proc, SQL Server 2000

May 15, 2008

Hi,

I want to load a file into a blob column using a stored proc. The file will be on a UNC path on the network. Is there a system stored proc or any utility that can be fired off from the sp, using xp_cmdshell that will take a file path from the filesystem and load it into a blob column in a database table.

I have worked with blob fields in the past but in those instances I loaded the blobs into the database from front end ADO.net code. This time around I need to pull this off stricktly from a stored proc.

Any help will be appreciated.

thank you.
