Retrieving Native Progress Events For A 2000 Package From SSIS. Is It Possible?
Sep 28, 2006
Dear all,
AFAIK I don't think so. Let me know if possible and how.
I'm talking about a SSIS package which owns a Execute DTS 2000 Package Task and from there it calls a DTS 2000. Programatically, from our VB .Net front-end app we're seeing only SSIS events (when validate and execute methods are called) and any kind of information is provided from RCW proxy (I suppose that internally it gonna be created in order to send messages between managed and unmanaged code).
When a task inside our DTS 2000 fails we're awaring by means a "generic message" such this:
Error: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040427): Execution was canceled by user. at DTS.PackageClass.Execute() at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.Exec80PackageTask.Exec80PackageTask.ExecuteThread()
How to perform testing on SSIS packages? I need to find out how the package progress and the re-entry takes place through c#.net. Please provide me an appropriate code.
I have a report which queries events occurring during the reporting time frame the user selects.
A user selects arrivalDateStart as 8/1/2015 and arrivalDateEnd as 12/31/2015 and the results are returned.
The issue is that there is an event that began 7/31/2015 and ends 8/2/2015. This does not appear on the report. The user does not want to have to pick an earlier arrival date as the parameter of his report to pick up anything that was already in progress prior to the beginning of the month.
I am trying to figure out how to add an expression that will also return events that are in progress over the arrival date chosen for the report.
I am using vb.net 2005 and SQL Server 2005.. I have deployed some of my packages on the server.. Now if i am trying execute packages with SSIS object model from any of developement PC they are executing perfectly. But as soon as i am trying to execute them from client pc - where no any component except (.netframwork) -- i am getting the follwoing error:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E}
Can any one help me out..? i have gone through some of the article stating that SQL client componet must be installed on the computer from where app runs...
Is there any other solution to use SSIS object model...
I have successfully created a SSIS package which execute a DTS 2000 package and with no problem to execute the task. But I failed to schedule this package. I was not success in setting the logging. When running the package in command line:
dtexec file "C:Documents and SettingslyangMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectsTraingDTSTraingDTSDTSTraining.dtsx"

I have a pacakage wich loads data from a .csv file into my database. When I run the package from Visual Studio there is a Progress/Execution Results tab where I see information about the progress. I would like to insert some of these messages into my database. I tried to handle the OnProgress event with an Execute SQL Task and insert the Progress descriptions, but that doesn't seem to give all the information I see on the above mentioned tab (moreover, I get different numbers of events running the package from VS and running it programmatically from c#, why is that?).
What I really would like to get are the messages from the Progress tab which look like these:
[Agreement File [11773]] Information: The processing of file "D:****files*********.csv" has started.
[Agreement File [11773]] Information: The total number of data rows processed for file "D:****files*********.csv" is 201.
[Agreement File [11773]] Information: The processing of file "D:****files*********.csv" has ended.
[DTS.Pipeline] Information: "component "OLE DB Destination" (12598)" wrote 200 rows.
I need to write a front end to execute our .dtsx package due to it being encrypted and not wanting to expose the password at all. I have successfully written code to run it but I want to show something like the Package Execution Progess window and I don't know how. This window shows up when you just double click on the .dtsx file and Execute it using the interface provided. Can anyone help?
I have just finished building an SSIS package which does a couple of things including using variables, calling child packages as well as starting off replication.
I plan to kick-off the package via SQL Server Agent.
Is there any way I can monitor the progress of this report by creating a web front-end that refreshes every few minutes to report on errors and progress?
I am looking for a way to execute an SSIS package as the next step in the SQL 2000 Agent, with the first step being replication. Can I reference dtexec.exe on the SSIS box to execute the package located in the file system?
Please help. I'm completely new to SSIS, and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction(s).
I am developing a winforms client app, and I need to be able to provide the user with the ability to import data in CSV format into our application's database.
I'd like to use SSIS if possible, as long as what I am trying to do isn't near impossible.
I'm thinking of a UI where the user can specify a flat file (CSV) to upload and be processed by an SSIS package on a remote database server.
This package will be responsible for validating the CSV file and inserting data into the database as appropriate.
Is there a way I can:
launch an SSIS package remotely, from a winforms app on the client machine that is not running SQL server (preferably asynchronously) -- and pass it some parameters, including the import file itself (optionally) provide progress feedback to the client pc to let them know it is being processed display a nice SSRS report on the client upon completion that tells them exactly what the success/failure of the import was (how many rows processed, which ones failed and why, etc)
Any helpful examples, links, etc would be most appreciated.
Hi All,I think this is a thorny problem, and I'm hoping you can help. I've notfound this exact issue described anywhere yet.I have a stored procedure that calls BULK INSERT on a set of text files. These files are FTP'd from a legacy system (a mainframe running MVS).Sometimes, the process steps on iteslf, whereby the bulk insert is attemptedon a file whose FTP is still in progress; it's not fully written to disk onthe SQL box (it's a 100MB file that takes a long time to cross the networkto the share on the Windows box), and so the insert generates a fatal errorand the procedure stops.I wrote a proc that calls the sp_OA* procs to use theScripting.FileSystemObject to test for the file's readiness. It returns anerror for me if the file does not exist. It also returns an error if I tryto run the BULK INSERT against a file which is being copied via Windows tothe SQL box. This is working just fine under those conditions; thesp_OAMethod to call OpenTextFile bombs appropriately if the file write isstill in progress. That's great, but it doesn't do the same thing during an FTP in progress. It doesn't generate the same error (that is OpenTextFile has no problemopening a partially written FTP'd file). I can also open the file inNotepad, even though it's not fully written to disk ... something I did notexpect, but there we are. What is it about FTP that's different from aWindows file system copy operation that makes the file look available forreading? If BULK INSERT is capable of detecting that it cannot do its thing on a filewhose FTP is in progress, then what can I write or call to emulate thatdetection? I tried writing a COM object in VB.NET and calling that from mySQL stored proc instead of the Scripting Engine's FSO methods. My codesimlpy tries to run a FileOpen using an Exclusive read lock; however, thisdoesn't seem to work, and I'm shooting in the dark now.Can anyone tell me what kind of file i/o request BULK INSERT makes, suchthat it is capable of abending during a run against an incompletely writtenfile using FTP?Thanks!Tim
The project I´m working needs to import data from a Progress Database. I had configured my ODBC (MERANT 3.60 32-BIT Progress SQL92 v9.1D) driver and everything seems to be ok.
But when I tried to create a DataRearder Source pointing to my ODBC Data Source, and open the next tab I received this error message:
€śError at Data Flow Task [DataReader Soucer [135]]: Cannot acquire a managed connection from the run-time connection manager€?
Hi, I've created an SSIS package to process cubes on Analysis Services 2005. This works fine.
Now I wish to use the same package to run Cubes on Analysis 2000. I have changed My connection manager to point to this DB. When I test connection it works fine.
The problem lies, when I try to edit the Analysis Service Processing Task. I get an error message saying: "A connection cannot be made-Make sure the server is running".
I can get into Analysis Manager ok, and see the database there.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction here?
I´m currently developing an import/export package in SSIS. I recently realized that this package is supposed to be run on a SQL Server 2000 instance, and I have no clue if this will work... I´m pretty new to SQL Server, but I now that DTS from 2000 ws replaced by SSIS in 2005, and the command-line dtsrun replaced by dtexec.
So my question: Will I be able to run a SSIS package on SQL Server 2000, and how would I do that?
I have a package designed and working correctly for months now. My challenge now is to run this package on a box that does not have SQL 2005 SSIS install. It has SQL 2000 installed.
My question is - Can I compile the SSIS into EXE or any other kind of DTS package to run on a none-SQL 2005 box?
I have successfully used migrate wizard to migrate DTS pacakge to TrainingDTS.dtsx. What should I do next? when I run
C:>dtexec /file "C:TrainingDTS.dtsx"

End Error Error: 2008-05-13 09:14:31.36 Code: 0xC0024107 Source: File Transfer Protocol Task undefined Description: There were errors during task validation. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1).
I have to create a migration package ..means package should migrate the sql server 2000 tables to 2005 tables (Not dealing with data at this point of time and ignoring SPs,DTS packages). But there are lot of normalisation ans schema changes in 2005 compared to 2000.Like,
- One 2000 table devided into 3-4 tables in 2005 - Lot of changes in the filed names - Handling integrity relationship between the newversion tables
Being new to SSIS ,iam in confusion like how to start and where to start.can you pls tell me the steps(Structured way) i have to fallow
-- I have around 8-9 tables in 2000 ,I have to migrate them into 18-19 tables (with some new fileds )
-- For each table i have to create one package(bcoz lot of transformations are there) or I can create one package for all of those ? but the finally i have to handover one package to the client
pls ask me if u need any further info to come up with the explanation..bcoz iam not sure whether i provided enough info or not
Pre-SP2, log events that bubbled up from child packages used to be prepended with "User:" (as documented in KB906563). It appears that this behaviour has changed in SP2, and only the Diagnostic event gets prepended with "User:". When I debug a custom log provider, the event names are now clearly not prepended on any other event type.
Is this a bug, or a breaking feature? Can anyone suggest a way to identify events that bubble up from child packages under SP2, now that this has changed?
i searched and all i found is questions, not answers.
maybe it's a silly question, but i really can't find any documention / posts about this.
i have a scheduled job in sqlagent that executes a SSIS package that runs every minute. As a result, my application log in eventviewer gets filled very quickly.
i tried using "/REPORTING E" option with no luck.
i tried enabling logging on the package, and then select only the OnErro Event, no luck.
I have a "Execute DTS Package 2000 " task in SSIS. The SQL 2000 DTS has one task which precedence is "completion". Using SQL2000 it works properly, but when I invoke it from SSIS it doesn€™t respect the precedence. So, when the task above fails it ends the DTS execution.
Is it possible to configure the task to respect the precedences?
Hello experts. I have been searching for anything about this but found very little. What are the events logged in SQL Server Error Logs aside from Successful/Failed Login, Backup/Restore/Recover database and, start/init sql server? Can we configure this to log other events, like CREATE or DBCC events for example? If so, how? Thanks a lot.
I trying to right some custom error handeling activex controls inside a DTS Package. The only problem is i need the specific name of the step that it is checking. The easiest way I found was to save the package to Meta Data Services and then look at the properties. The only problem with that is it doesnt specify what is what. its more or less a guess. and if the package is huge or has been through multiple revisions, it makes it even harder. anyone that could lend an hand? i though for sure i might be able to pull it from one of the sys tables in msdb, but there isnt anything for the individual steps, only the packages. Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know how to hook up to data flow pipeline events via custom solution (C#)? I am trying to write code to log start and end times of components(lookup, merge joins etc) in a data flow task. I tried with a class inheriting from the EventsProvider class but it didn't work as this is only for container tasks. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Hello,I'm trying to install the SQL Server 2005 Standard edition and while I can easily install the first part of the package, the document.write(L_LINK_RUNINSTALL_VAR_TEXT) Server components, tools, Books Online, and samples, when I click to install the Run the SQL Native Client Installation Wizard it tells me this:This Microsoft sql server native client package is not supported on the current processor type I have Windows XP64bit with IIS running on 32bit now. Why does it do that and how I can get around it ? :) Thanks.
Hey, I've a few jobs which call SSIS packages. If I run the SSIS package, it runs fine but if I try to run the job which calls this package, it fails. Can someone help me troubleshoot this issue? None of my jobs that call an SSIS package work. All of them fail.
