How does one return all selected values in a multi-valued parameter? Right now i have a filter on the dataset where
(Expression)
=Fields!LOCATION_ID.Value
(Operator)
=
(Value)
=Parameters!Loc.Value(0)
This is just giving me data from the first value that is selected in the multi-valued dropdown. I need all returned from the parameter. Any ideas.
i have a stored procedure that has parameters. this dataset is used in a crystal report. the parameters are in the sp and will return records if a value is selected. i would like to return records if one parameter or all parameters are selected.
there are 3 parameters, date range, receipt, po #
if i select a distinct value and leave the others null, or 2 values 1 null etc, i would like to return the records, i am having trouble with the syntax. thank you
There is a multi value parameter called "include" in the report where "Allow Multiple Values" is checked and it has 4 Available values as shown in the attached screen shots and preview of the report is also shown .There is no data set for this parameter and the values will get displayed on the report based on the visibility condition set in the report.Example : If first value is selected then 1 is passed and based on the visibility condition set in the report - the report output is displayed.None is default value and has value 4 and when the report is run with this option i.e. "None" then rest three parameter values are not applicable .
Requirement :
-When the end user selects (Select All) Check box then (None)
-check box must be disabled or must not appear for selection for the end user
-When the end user selects check boxes either of the first three except None then also None check box must be disabled or must not appear for -selection for the end user
-when the end user selects a combination of first three then also None check box must be disabled or must not appear for selection for the end user
-The None is set as default with a value as 4 and is applicable only when the user does not select either of the first three values and the report will run.

I am forced to use a Sp in teh first place as my query is too long for the text dataset. I have a parameter Time_Period which ia a multivalued one but it is not allowing me to use this in the SP. using RS 2005.

I am attempting to create a cascading parameter.
Parameter's 1 & 2 are multi-valued.
Datasets 1 & 2 supply Parameter's 1 & 2.
The values for Parameter 1 as derived from Dataset 1 are 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D' and 'E'.
The potential values for Parameter 2 will only be created if value 'C' is amongst the multiple values selected for Parameter 1.
Thus I need to write my query for Dataset 2 so that it can check the values of Parameter 1 for the existence of 'C' otherwise it returns nothing.
What is the best practice for a dataset referencing the values of a multi-valued parameter in order to generate it's resultset?

I want to set defaults for my multi-valued report parameter MONTH so that when the report starts, it automatically selects all the months prior to the current month (effectively creates a YTD report). However, using RS2005, I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I can create an IIF expression in 12 different value entries in the report parameters that returns the month based on the system date, but the first time I pass blanks, null or anything except a valid parameter, it clears the entire parameter list when the report displays.
Does anyone have any suggestions for auto-populating multiple values in a parameter at runtime where one or more of the parameter values may be empty? Checking "Allow Null" or "Allow Blank" doesn't fix this problem.
I tried to pass all the values in a single value entry on the report parameters page, but can't find the syntax that will allow this. I'm not sure if it will let you do that anyway...

To consider a sample code:

I have a multi-valued parameter that I want to pass to a subreport. The values are 11, 12, 13, and 14.
So here's what I've done:
1. For the properties of the clickable field of the first report, I have gone to the Navigation tab and chosen the subreport in the "jump to report" pulldown.
2. Then I clicked on the Parameters button and added a parameter name for the multi-valued parameter I am trying to send. For the Parameter value, I have tried 11,12,13,14. I have also tried =Split(11,12,13,14)
3. On the subreport, I create a report parameter with the same name, data type is string, multi-value is checked, and the available values pulldown is populated by a query.
So I run the first report and click on the link that brings me to the subreport, but all the subreport shows is the results for 11, not 12, 13, and 14.
How can I get the second report to understand that I want it to show all the records related to 11, 12, 13, and 14? If I bypass the first report and simply use the drop-down to choose 11, 12, 13, and 14 in the subreport, it works fine. I just can't seem to figure out how to correctly have the first report tell the subreport that it wants 11, 12, 13, and 14.

Or can I create a view and then do a "SELECT * FROM viewName WHERE columnName IN (@param)"?

I am trying to expand the multi-valued parameter menu object so I can display the selection list in a more user-friendly format since the text is fairly long. If left at the default setting then I have to scroll to the right to see the complete string(s). For a single-select parameter I can just CAST the string to CHAR(100) and the menu object will expand. However, it seems that this approach is not working for multi-valued parameter menu objects.
Is this a bug in SSRS, and is there another way to accomplish this. Please let me know.

I have a Multi-valued parameter that is a string type and it freaks out when a do a select all from my drop down list. I suspect it has something to do with size as it works great if a pick a reasonable amount of items. My parameter list is populated by 1463 items of 12 characters each. Is there a threshold I should have to worry about?

I'm having trouoble with changing my report name when I swtich to different parameter values.
I use the following expression.
IIf(Parameters!GroupVar1.Label = "CBank", "CBank", IIf(Parameters!GroupVar1.Value ="DTC","DTC","Total"))
This works fine when I clear Mutli-Value box in paramter properties. but when I use multi-value, this does not work.
Is there any solution for this?

I have four parameters in my report: startDate, endDate, group, and name. My goal is to only present those groups and names with a record the falls in the startDate to endDate range. I have the group parameter set up with a dataset based on the following query:

I've created this type of query and parameter several times, however this time when I select any of the values in the parameter, the parameter always selects only the first item in the list. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I'm unable to run the report the report with multi-valued parameter using the below StoredProcedure as dataset:
CREATE PROCEDURE spprodsales
@productid int
AS
select SalesOrderID,OrderQty,UnitPrice,ProductID
FROM Sales.SalesOrderDetail
Where ProductID IN (@productid)
RETURN
And when I'm replacing this dataset to a query as below I'm able to run the report with multiple values selected for productid parameter :
select SalesOrderID,OrderQty,UnitPrice,ProductID
FROM Sales.SalesOrderDetail
Where ProductID IN (@productid)
So, can anyone please help me out possibly using the same stored procedure as above.

In place of "and Description like '%' + (Select * from SplitDelimiterString(@ServerName,',')) + '%' ", if I use "and Description like '%' + @ServerName + '%' " and pass a single value, it works.
But @ServerName contains multiple values and it is dynamic (not constant).
How do I query the data?

In the Default Values section, I choose 'from query' and select dataset and value field.
In the Available Values section, I choose 'from query' select the same dataset and value field, and in the label field I select the relevant label field.
When I run the report my multi-valued parameters look like I selected the option 'select all' (all options are selected).
How can I keep the multi-valued parameters cleared from selections until the user select his choice? Thanks in advance.

I have developed a report that uses oracle as the database. I have wrote my query by creating a dataset. In the query I am also calling a function.
query:
select EmpName, get_Client_Count(:cities), POS from ...
--function definition
create or replace function get_Client_Count(cities in varchar2) return number is
....
From the report I have multi selectable dropdown check box list for Cities.
the function returns count when I select only one city. Works fine with no problem. As soon as I select multiple cities I am getting the following error
ORA-06553: PLS-306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'get_client_Count'
I know this error was thrown since multiple values were selected.
Has anyone come across this situation and came up with workaround or solution to this? I really appreciate your inputs.

I have a report parameter which i multivalue. I want to display the selected value in a text box. I have written the following code :
=Switch(Parameters!ServiceAttribute.Count = 1,Parameters!ServiceAttribute.Value(0),
Parameters!ServiceAttribute.Count = 2,(Parameters!ServiceAttribute.Value(0) & ", " & Parameters!ServiceAttribute.Value(1)))
Which suggests that if only one of the two multivalue parameter id is selected display the same (Parameters!ServiceAttribute.Value(0)).
This works fine when i select both the attributes but throws an exception "Index was outside the bounds of the array" when i select only one of the parameters. Can anyone help me with that?
Also i want this report parameter to allow null i.e. if a user does not select anything he should still be able to view the report.
In case of regular dropdowns i have added a <Null> value to the existing values and set the default to null. But in case of multi-value, it does not give an option of adding <Null>

I have a report which has a multi-value parameter. Problem is, it can contain up to 100 options.Is there a way to limit the number of options that is passed to the SQL statement?. EG list has 100 options, user selects 10 but only the first 4 selected options are passed to the SQL statement.

If the user is selecting all the vendor Numbers available in the vendor number parameter drop down then, I will not include the vendor Number condition in the where portion of the sql query. , now , how do i enter in more then one value. When i select the multi value check box, it gives me more spaces. But then doesnt recognize the values when i put in more then one. am i doing something wrong?

The end user will input a selection via a mutli select parameter (financial month/s), if all month are inputted then sum(Field1.Month1.value...Field12.Month12.value )/12 * 100 else if parameter.value =1 then sum(field/s.values for selected month)/1 *100 else if month.values = 1 AND 2 then sum(field/s.values for selected month)/2 *100 and so on for any combination of the selected inputs.
Put in simpler terms I would like to calculate a percentage from a field/s containing relevent values, based on month/s the user inputs.

In my report headed I want to show all the dropdown values that were checked by the user to run the report. But since there could be a couple of hundred values I want to show ALL when all the values are selected instead of listing them one by one.

I have requirement where first I need to show only one report
parameter. Based on user selection I need to prompt or show the user
another report parameter.
Say suppose I have 3 parameters. User selects first value in first
parameter I should not show the other 2 parameters. If user selects
second value in first parameter I should show second parameter and
hide third parameter. There is no relationship between these 2
parameters except user selection. Similarly if user third value in
first parameter then I should show third parameter and hide second
parameter.
Is this possible? I can not see any Visible property for report
parameters.
If yes, how to achieve this functionality?

At the top of my report, if I want to display the selected value for a given
parameter, I can put this expression in a text box:
="The xyz param's value is: " & Parameters!paramXYZ.Label(0).ToString
How do I go about displaying all the selected values for a multi-value
parameter (one that has mulitple checkboxes in the drop-down list)? Is it
possible to do a for loop and iterate through the values of the param within
an expression? Something like
for i = 0 to Parameters!paramXYZ.Count - 1
mystring = mystring & ", " & Parameters!paramXYZ.Label(i).ToString
And then display mystring in the textbox? Or can I use a list control on the
report?

I am having trouble using Output parameters. I have set up an Execute SQL Task to call a Stored Procedure. I am passing an input parameter and indicating 1 global variable for output to retrieve a unique value from the stored procedure call. When I execute the step, it completes successfully but nothing is returned in my output parameter for the unique value??? Below is the call that I use:

-in the Execute SQL Task I click the Parameters button to set up the input:
Status = Parameter1
and the Output Variable Type:
Rowset = GUID.
the stored procedure:

A table is correctly populated but the GUID value does not make it back to the calling task??? The Global Variable Type under Package Properties has been changed to "Dispatch" and the value is "Not Displayable"???

I have a parameter that gets it's available values from a dataset.
I use this exact same data to populate the default values.
When I run the report, the available values get populated; however the default values are not being selected.
This works on other parameters on the same report. However, on this parameter, it is not working.
I have tried ltrim/rtrim (Been burned with that before when the field type is a char)
I change the data field in the query, without changing the parameter setup, and it works...
Here is my query:
