Row Group Text Is Wrong In Matrix Report

I have a matrix report with 4 row groups. I am experiencing a bug with the text that is displayed in the second group.
When it changes group 1, the text for second group is alway wrong for the first row in the list. It always shows the text that was displayed for the first row of the previous group1.
Here is what it looks like. Has anyone else seen this? Please tell me there is a solution and that matrix reports aren't just broken ...

Hi
I am making a report in Visual Studio. I€™m making a matrix report. I have made a UNION of 2 tables. One of them has a field called Date and the other one does not. But to make a UNION of these 2 tables so that the results are printed in a Matrix I have to have the same fields€™ aliases at least. So what I did is that in the second table is:
SELECT €˜ €˜ AS €˜Date€™
Right?
Now, in the report the first table gives me the dates in a format:
=Format(Fields!Estimated_Close_Date.Value, "yyyy-MM-dd")
But, the second table is it doesn€™t have a date in that field when I run the report it gives me:
1900-01-01
Something I don€™t want.
So, how do I make it understand that the second tables date field is suppose to be empty?

I'm dealing w/ SSRS 2005.
I have my main matrix report which has five row groups.
What I'd like to do is have the subtotal at the 4th level have a coloring for the whole row at run-time....so the user can follow from left to right what the 4th level subtotal actually is (the report can get fairly wide).
At design time, you don't even see the rows to the right of the subtotal, you just see the subtotal box.

I am creating this OLAP matrix report and I tried to speed up the time needed for the OLAP dataset by limiting the number of columns in the dataset. I have two parameters, year and month, for the dataset which are set to multi-select values. Year and month are not assigned to the dataset as for the reason mentioned above (performance). However I do want to show the year and month in the matrix report. Can I use the parameter value when assigning the grouping for the year and month like "Parameters!DateCalendarYear.Value" etc and the same to the text box in the matrix report?
I tried it to the report and it returned with an error saying "The Group expression used in grouping 'matrix_....' returned a data type that is not valid"

I'd like to create a report with the folloiwng format:
DATE1 DATE2 DATE3 DATE4 DATE5 [fixed 5 dates across the top, from today to T+5]
THING1 x x x x
THING2 x x x x
THING3 x x x x
THING4 x x x x
my raw data looks like this:
THING1, DATE1, TEXT VALUE 1
THING1, DATE2, TEXT VALUE 2
&c&c.
Now: there may be 0, 1 or several (by which I mean 2-5 max) text values to display at each intersection. If there are zero I'd like it to be blank, if there are one or several, i'd like to display them in a little list within the cell.
Is this possible?

I have a matrix with six rows and the column is dynamic depending on if any data exists for any row item in a month/year. All rows are summations of data for the particular month. I have a row group that when toggled to visible expands all the rows. Is there a way to restrict the row group to only expand the data in a specific row?

Hi All !
I want to show row groups as hierarchy levels and need the
sub total values belongs to each group and sub group levels. But the
most important point is that my top next top group (from child to
parent ) is not static its dynamic.i.e for a diffrent senario my under
displayed example can have Universe--->Earth as parent for Australia and USA.

I have a Matrix that counts records by one group. In a simplified scenario, the group values are 1, 2, and 3. When I created the matrix without a subtotal, all 3 groups are returned. I added the subtotal column, and now only 2 of the groups are returned. The dataset query looks like this:
SELECT A
, B
FROM Table
Without Subtotal this is returned:
A CountOfB
1 3
2 6
3 7
With Subtotal this is returned:
A CountOfB Subtotal
1 3 3
2 6 6
The last value is missing. When I remove the subtotal column, the last value does not return. Where did it go? Am I missing a setting?

That is, for example, having the following report:

Then I
would add some ratios, that is, Units Sold/Months (sold per month) and other that
is the average for Product Family (Units Sold/Number of Product Family), for putting an example€¦ some
columns should be precalculated prior to the report so do not get into it, the
real problem I don€™t see how to solve is adding one or two columns for showing
these calculated column that doesn€™t depend on the column groups but they do
for the rows groups€¦
Any guidance
on that?

I just can not understand why when I add text to a group header the report displays more group row space but when I export to excel the extra space disappears....

Hi,
I am using matrix to make a report. I have company name in the row group and user name in the details field. When I run the report I only see the company name once and each user of that company is displayed in a separate row. Then next company name and its users... I wanted to know if there is a way to display company name next to the user name? I know it can be done by using "table" but I can't use table because in this report there are other fields can only be done in a matrix. So, please let me know if there are any settings in matrix which I can use to display my company name next to each user of that company. Please ask me any thing if the question is not clear. Thanks a lot for the help.

I've tried to filter Matrix group but failed in using "OR" predicat in Filter expression:

Hello Guys,
I am working on a matrix report which has several row groups and 1 column group. After execution, the column group wil end up with several columns containg numeric counts. I would like to have the grand total for each "column group" column as a last row on this report.
For row groups you can just right click "Subtotal", but that is not possible for column group. Could someone please help me to find a clever way of accomplishing this, please. Thank you so much for your help!

Hi, I have a matrix report with three data points
1. Inventory
2. Occupancy
3. Absorption
They are grouped in columns by Year and the data is returned by the query at Quarter granularity
My problem is that in the report, I need to display the Inventory data for the last quarter in each year however for Absorption it is the SUM of all 4 quarters
So, for 2006
Want Q4 data for Inventory, sum of all 4 quarters for Absorption
For 2007 Want Q2 data for Inventory (as it's the last loded quarter) and sum of Q1&Q2 for Absorption
How would I (or could I) do this in a Matrix Report - or is there a better way ?

I am new to matrixes and I have created a dataset which I would like to populate into an expanding / collapsing matrix.
The purpose of the report is to show a list of pallets and their respective stock adjustments. I have laid the matrix out as follows...
I have spent the entire afternoon playing around with this and searching Google, but as yet, I have been unable to get the matrix to display more than 1 record per pallet. Each of the pallets below have multiple adjustment records, yet the report will only display the first one...

I'll try to make this simple. I'm on SSRS 2005 and I have a report with a matrix object that has one row group and one column group. I need to switch the number format only for values where the column group has a specific value.
For example, here are the records in the table:
Customer, Type, Amount
Customer1, Revenue, -100
Customer2, Cost, 60
Customer1, Revenue, -200
Customer2, Cost, 125
By default the matrix object shows the following (the total comes from the standard subtotal on the column group):
Revenue Cost Total
Customer1 -100 60 -40
Customer2 -200 125 -75
But the users need the report to look like this, with all positives (why, oh why?! ):
Revenue Cost Total
Customer1 100 60 40
Customer2 200 125 75
I was able to use the inscope function to switch the signs of the Total numbers. But now I need to switch the signs of the Revenue column from negative to positive (and vice versa), without affecting the signs of the Cost column. It's strange to me because I CAN switch the signs for a specific row group (changing Customer1's number format, without affecting Customer2's format) using something like this:
=iif(Fields!Customer.Value = "Customer1", "($#,###.#0); $#,###.#0", "$#,###.#0; ($#,###.#0)")
But a similar expression specifying a column group value does not work, because the report seemingly doesn't recognize the value of the column group at all no matter what I do:
=iif(Fields!Type.Value = "Revenue", "($#,###.#0); $#,###.#0", "$#,###.#0; ($#,###.#0)")
The other reason why this is strange is that I've done drill-through reports off of matrix objects where specific column group values (the ones clicked on) can be passed into the drill-through report parameters. So it recognizes the column group values upon drill-through, but not for formatting?
How else can I do this? I must be missing something here. Thanks.

I am trying to load a text file into a temporary table in MS-SQL using DTS.
The file is coming from a unix machine and contains comma-delimited entries.
the DTS script runs every minute and the transformation maps values in the text file into corresponding columns in the temp table.
The problem is that the sequence of the entries in the text file does not match the sequence of the values imported.
I have several instances of this script (all identical) but only one file seems to be out of whack. Does anyone know what could be causing this? This is for a real-time trading system so the sequence has to be perfect.

How do I programmatically check a row group's Visibility or Expand/Collapse flag in a matrix table? For example, I have a matrix table contains the following groups:
Row groups: Facility --> Category Type --> Category
Column groups --> year, quarter, month
I want to be able to programmatically update the table content if Category rows are not visible (Category Type row group is collapsed).

Hi all, first post on Microsoft forums. Our agency is attempting to implement Reporting Services as a reporting platform (for both canned & ad hoc reports) for a system we're developing, and I'm running into some major problems with the ad hoc (Report Builder) portion.
To provide better context, let's set up an example. Say I'm tracking complaints filed by consumers against businesses. A complaint can be filed by multiple consumers against multiple businesses. There is a many-to-many relationship between consumer & complaint, and a many-to-many relationship between business & complaint. So the database would look something like this:
Consumer (PK: consumer_id)
Complaint (PK: complaint_id)
Business (PK: business_id)
ConsumerLink (FKs: consumer_id & complaint_id)
BusinessLink (FKs: business_id & complaint_id)
In my first attempt at making a model, I have flattened ConsumerLink with Consumer, and BusinessLink with Business. So I end up with 3 views:
Complaint (PK complaint_id)
Consumer (PK consumer_id, FK complaint_id)
Business (PK business_id, FK complaint_id)
Note that due to the flattening of the link tables, there may be some duplicate consumers & businesses in the above views if they are related to more than one complaint, which is fine.
Now comes the question. I want to build an ad hoc query that lets me enter a business name and show all consumers that have filed a complaint against it. In SQL this would be a very simple query:
SELECT b.business_id, b.name, c.complaint_id, co.consumer_id, co.name
FROM
Business b
LEFT JOIN BusinessLink bl ON b.business_id = bl.business_id
LEFT JOIN Complaint c ON bl.complaint_id = c.complaint_id
LEFT JOIN ConsumerLink col ON c.complaint_id = col.complaint_id
LEFT JOIN Consumer co ON col.consumer_id = co.consumer_id
WHERE
b.business_name = 'criteria'
However, because the Complaint table has an OptionalMany relationship with both tables, Report Builder prevents you from adding both tables to the same ad hoc report. As soon as you drag one of the two onto the report, it becomes your new "top level table" on the table tree, and you cannot drag the other table over anymore. Now, I understand that it makes sense to prevent the user from, say, trying to show all the consumers and businesses associated with a particular complaint in the same dataset, since that would result in a cartesian join and potentially lots of duplication. However, that's not what we're trying to show, we're trying to show all the businesses that match a criteria, all the complaints for those businesses, and all the consumers for those complaints.
After some research, I discovered this thread which describes the same problem:

The solution proposed there was to drag the complaint & consumer tables onto the report, and add the business name as a filter only. Unfortunately, this is not good enough. If there is more than one business which matches the name you provide, you have no way of knowing which business is associated with which complaint. All you get is a list of complaints and the consumers associated with them.
Am I doing something wrong in the views/model? Is there any way around this without flattening the whole thing into a huge data warehouse with massive cartesian joins and do reporting against that? At this point, I'm sooner willing to accept excessive data as a cost of flexible reporting. I'm a huge believer that there's an elegant solution to any problem though, and none of the above are elegant.

I have a report builder drill down report. I have row groups with totals.   It looks like the attached.  The problem is when the report is not expanded the Grand Totals column is not accurate... it is displaying the totals of one of the rows when expanded.The expression in the Total Show text box is

It prompt the database version(C.0.8.40) does not match the report services installation.You must update your reporting services installation.

Hello All!
I developed a matrix SSRS report for a specific scenario, and the results look something like the example below. The result set is grouped by the date value, so for all records on that date in the first column I have just one value - 2/5/2007. The client would like to see a value for each cell in every row in the date column, so they can sort the results and do other manipulation in Excel. I tried to make it happen but I doesnt seem to work using the matrix. I would really appreciate if anyone has any suggestions on how to make it work. btw, it really has to be a matrix report :)

I'm trying to create a report using matrix report.
I use a simple query like this.
SELECT Catergory, Month, SUM(TotalApp) AS TotApp
FROM Table1
GROUP BY Catergory, Month
result is like thsi

Now I want to add Approved into one row and decisioned into the next row like that. I can easily do row grouping in the matrix. but then I wont be able to add new rows inbetween those groups. I want to add some rows inbetween those groups to include calculated fields.
I try to use something like this;
=IIf(Fields!Category.Value = "Decisioned" , Fields!TotalApps.Value, " " )
But It gives the same result for every group.( does not matter whether its decisioned , Approved or smthign else)
can any one tell me how to do this?
