Dec 4, 2014I am trying to create and later read a data file from a package deployed in SSISDB, but it is not reading it while it is successfully creating the file. The same package when run from the file system package, runs successfully. Generating ispac and deploying in SSISDB is running for infinite time. Is it a permission issue?

I store several configurations in the main database of my SSIS packages. I need to get the servername from a xml or txt file in order to get those configurations stored in my database.
How you think is the better way to do that?
Using a FlatFileSource to read the file and a script to save the value into a SSIS variable?
Using the package configuration I cant do that... maybe I dont know, but I can save the SSIS variale in the configuration file, but what I need is to do the inverse, read the configuration file and save the value in the SSIS variable.
How the best way you suggest?!

Ssis Package To Flat File
Nov 16, 2007Ok everybody. I am new to sql. I have ms sql staging database that pulls data from mysql database. Then once a day I run a ssis package that moves the data to a live database and also creates a flat file that is posted to a ftp site then truncates the table. One problem I am running into is if the mssql staging database has no records the flat file is still created. How do I stop it?

Trying To Access A DBase III File With A SSIS Package
May 4, 2006I am trying to get a handle on the new SQL Server Integration Services in SQL Server 2005. There is a legacy DTS package that I need to get working on our new server (using SQL Server 2005) but I can't seem to get it to work.First, I migrated it and attempted to run the package. It gave me many errors. So, I thought I would just rebuild it in integrated services. Everything was going smooth until I got to the real data transformation part.I added a data flow task and it took me to the Data Flow tab. Then I added a DataReader Source. I am trying to read from a dBase III file and I assumed I would be using an ODBC driver for that. Well... it has been hell trying to get it to see the dBase III file and access it.I have tried two solutions from the internet.This one and this one (by Wenyang) with no positive results.No matter what I do I still get an error in the bottom of the Advanced Editor for DataReader Source that reads: "Error at Sales Transformation [DataReader Source [81]]: Cannot acquire a managed connection from the run-time connection manager."Has anyone attempted anything like this before? Are there any SSIS experts around here that can drop me a few pearls of wisdom?Thanks in advance... I'm dying here.

After running the SSIS deployment utility to install a couple of SSIS packages into a SQL Server, is there a way of determining programmatically (at some later stage) where the dependency files (in my case a simple xml configuration file) for the SSIS packages were installed (if the user chose not to install it into the default location).

Problems Running A Bat File Within A SSIS Package
Jul 13, 2007I have a ssis package which has 2 tasks, first it builds an excel sheet with data on the server from where I am running the ssis pkg and the second task (a sql process task), runs a bat. the bat file that basically copies the excel sheet created from the first step to another server. Problem is that the ssis pkg runs succesful when i run it from BIDS, bust when I run is as ajon, it gets hung. It completes the first step, it is the sescond step that is get hung. I noticed that when i run from BIDs, it does come up with a window open file - security warning and says the publisher could not be verified, are you sure you want to run this software. why does it do that ??? the file I am asking to run is a .bat file. it should automatically use the cmd.exe app to run the bat file. Please help !!!

I have an SSIS package that has an "execute process task" that executes a batch file. The package has been deployed to the msdb database, and is called from a stored procedure using xp_cmdshell dtexec ...
I can execute the package just fine if I'm logged onto the server as a system administrator, by running the stored procedure from a query window.
However, if I log on to the server as a non-admin user, the package attempts to run, but breaks at the file system task, with "Access Denied". It can't run the batch file. It seems to be a permissions issue at the file system level.
How do I resolve this?? Please help.

Dynamically Creating SSIS Package For Each Flat File
Apr 18, 2007Trying to figure out the best method of reading in a number of flat files, all with different number of columns and data types and outputting them to a database.
Here's the problem: They are EBCDIC encoded and some of the columns are packed decimal. I've set up one package that takes the flat file, unpacks the decimal (Using UnpackDecimal component) and then sending the rest through a second component to go from EBCDIC -> ASCII.
What I need is a way to do this for every flat file based on the schema for that flat file. One current solution is to write a script/app to create the .dtsx XML file and then execute that for each flat file. It appears like this may be possible, but I haven't gotten far enough to know for sure. So my questions are this:
1) Is there an easier way to do this (ie somehow feed the schema to the package and use it to dynamically set up the column makers and determine which columns get fed to the unpack decimal component.
2) If there isn't a better way, will dynamically creating the .dtsx XML file based on the necessary input/output columns for each flat file work? If so, what is a good source of information on this (information about how the .dtsx XML file is set up, what needs to be changed/what doesn't, etc).

I have a very simple SSIS package that loop throught the worksheets of an Excel file and insert the data into a SQL server 2005 table.
The SSIS is very simple and works fine the problem is that after the Package executes if I double click on the Excel file imported I have the message that the file is in use.
I think that the Excel connection manager of the package doesn't release the Excel resourse but this is only a guess..
Do am I right? If yes how can I release the resource?

Apr 23, 2015I have a very simply package using an Excel connection to an XLSX file. It's a straight read of the file and import onto a table.
The package works fine in Visual Studio 2008 development and also runs fine when executing on the (server I copied it to) under Integration Services.
However, under a SQL Agent, the package (32-bit is checked) can not acquire the connection to an excel file. I use UNC pathing to the file. I've read other posts about similar problems and tried various scheduling options (including Owner of job).
I even tried a to trigger it with a command-line which did not work:

SSIS Package Cannot Access Remote UNC File Via The Admin Share
Mar 6, 2008I am developing a package to restore a database from backup file on a remote server. I am having problems accessing the remote backup file when it is addressed via the admin share, in this case N$. It runs okay if a specific share is created but for some unknown reason fails via the adminshare.
I am executing the package job with a proxy account that is a member of the local administrators group on the remote server.
It appears that access via a remote admin share isn't possible from within a SSIS package. Is this the case?
Config File Already Exists Error While Building SSIS Package

While trying to build SSIS Package Project, the following error is thrown. I have added configuration file recently to fetch the dynamic values such as connection string, output path etc.
I tried manually cleaned up the debug folder and tried build but still the error occurs.
Can any one help in suppressing this error?

Parameterize SSIS Package To Identify A Source File Location

I created a SSIS package to extract data from a flat file source and load them into a table in a data base. After I created the package i checked it in to source control(perforce).
But the problem is once a month new flat source file comes and data should be updated.
Once the new flat file comes, is there anyway that SSIS package can identify the path of the flat file and execute the package automatically? In Flat file source only the data will be changed. Not location or data type or anything.
Can i use parameters to do that?
