Run A SSIS Package Including Windows Tasks Scheduler?

Jun 16, 2006

Hello

As a beginner I have created some Packages to import Data to SQL Server.

The Packages are running well.

I have created a Task to run the Package on a SQL SERVER 2005 Express. The Task starts.

Then a Execute Package Wizard Picture appears on the Screen.

I have mannually to select the Connection Manager and the Connection String.

After the selection the Task runs without any Problem.

Now I like to get the Task to run without any manual intervention.

I was looking in Internet but could not find a solution.

Can someone give me a hint how to get the Task working without intervention?

Thanks for an early answer.

Regards

Chaepp

Integration Services :: Running SSIS Job Using Windows Task Scheduler

Jul 16, 2015

I am new to the world of ETL. I recently started using SSIS and I have come across couple of questions on this.

1.Can we run a SSIS Package using windows task scheduler?

2. If the above answer is yes,I don't have the SSMS installed on my machine. Can a SSIS package run in the absence of SSMS?(I do have Visual studio and SQL server data tools installed)

3. Can a SSIS Package run in the absence of Visual studio and SQL Server Data Tools.Say for example, I create a SSIS package and then remove Visual studio and SQL server data tools from my machine. Will the Task scheduler still be able to run the SSIS package?

4. Does the SSMS free edition comes along with SQL server Agent?

SSIS Package Run Through Tidal Scheduler Agent Not Successful

May 4, 2007

Hi,

I have created a simple SSIS package using BIDS which does data copy from SQL Server to a excel file

I'm able to execute it using dtexec command locally connecting to the remote db server.

We have a file shared server where we are keeping the dtsx files.

Our DB server is located on another server.

We have another file shared server where Tidal agent is installed and we have created a batch file which has the dtsexec command and this batch is kept here.

Now when I create a job and run it it gives us the following outputCode: 0xC0014019
Source: tidal_jobtest
Description: The connection manager "dbserver.database.db_user" will not acquire a connection because the package OfflineMode property is TRUE. When the OfflineMode is TRUE, connections cannot be acquired.
End Error
Error: 2007-05-04 09:09:58.06
Code: 0xC020801C
Source: Data Flow Task OLE DB Source [1]
Description: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "dbserver.database.db_user" failed with error code 0xC0014019. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed.
End Error
Error: 2007-05-04 09:09:58.06
Code: 0xC004701A
Source: Data Flow Task DTS.Pipeline
Description: component "OLE DB Source" (1) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC020801C.
End Error

I have checked the SSIS package properties and the offline mode property is set to false but still i get the same error.

Also Can anyone let me know how to check whether we are using 32bit or 64bit drivers in connection or for dtsexec command

Please help me on this

Hello everyone,

This is a new level of complexity for me..

The Boss wants..

1. To control an SSIS package , start, check status, and emergency stop + rollback a package from a web page. Does anyone know of an example or good articles to start with.

2. I have one of the iterations of the data invoke and use a COM object (third party) It will value the items and change a field.

I can always do #2 as a second step but I need all the help I can get on #1.

BIG SSIS PACKAGE (200 DATAFLOW TASKS)

Mar 29, 2008

Thanks in advance in reading this thread.

I have developed a big SSIS package to extract data from flat-files ( + 200 Dataflows ).

The situation is the following, inside de SSIS package, there are a lot of validations before extracting & loading the flat-files, i'm running this validations in paralell, so that when a file arrives, it enters the "validation process" and start extracting the file.

When i run the SSIS package from BIDS it works the way i have concepted it... but when i run the ssis in the server, the tables that are loaded through the process are only "available" when the SSIS PACKAGE ends, it is imperative that trough the process, when a table receives new data, it becomes ready, and don't just be available when the SSIS package finishes...

I have attached the an lousing .jpeg.

It is importart for the tables to be available, so the stored procedures(OUTSIDE SSIS PACKAGE) that are dependent of some tables, start working before the SSIS package Ends.

Thanks in Advance.

SSIS SourceID Does Not Match ID For Any Of My Tasks, Package, Etc

Aug 16, 2007

I'm trying to do some custom SSIS logging using event handlers, similar to the ideas provided by Jamie Thomson in the past. My problem is that when I use System:ourceID as one of the items to be logged, I can't match up the SourceID to any of the GUIDs that are displayed in the property window for the various tasks in my package.

Where is this sourceID coming from and how can I track it down?

Thanks for any insight on this.

Multiple Data Flow Tasks In One SSIS Package

Problem With WMI Tasks : Waiting For Files In Parallel In A SSIS Package

May 28, 2007

Hi,

I have a problem with the task "event watcher".

I've made a query like the one in msdn (SELECT * FROM __InstanceCreationEvent WITHIN 10 WHERE Targetinstance ISA "CIM_DirectoryContainsFile" and TargetInstance.GroupComponent= "Win32_Directory.Name="e:\\temp""). I have 20 similar tasks for watching in different folders, but when there are too much tasks in parallel, it doesn't work anymore. I change the numbers of executables to 128 (in the general properties of the package (to test)) but it doesn't seems to work.

I don't understand why it works when there are only 1 or 2 (6 seems to be the maximum) tasks and not if there are more than 6.

Could you help me with this issue?

Configuration : Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2005, SSIS, Sql Server Agent

Thanks a lot.

Windows Task Scheduler...

Mar 3, 2007

Hi,
 I'm developing an Ads system, which will have an scheduler functionality. Here's how it works: each hour a process will verify and publish an XML file with Ads that have to be shown at that hour. To display the Ad, the "NextDisplay" table's field has to be equal to currently date/HOUR. Then the process will update the "LastDisplay" field with the currently time and call a MsSQL stored procedure that will recalculate the NextDisplay time of the Ad.
My problem is doing this stored procedure. I've based my tables to allow the same schedule rules of the Windows Task Scheduler, so I have to verify each rule to calculate the next display time, but it's a difficult process, 'cause there are a lot of details to be considered.
I thought interoping with Windows Task Scheduler or seeing some code that do something like that, to have some ideas about how to implement it.
Suggestions?
Thx!

SSIS Package Permissions (Windows Application Log) Question

Jul 20, 2007

Hello all,

I have an issue where the DBAs have informed my group that they need to get to a model where an SSIS package which presently needs Admin perms on a box in order to write to the Windows Application Log, no longer needs those perms to write to the log.

I am new to SSIS packages, though familiar with DTS packages (and ETL), so I'm wondering if their concerns (1) can be verified; and (2) if so, is there a better way to allow the package to write to the log without Admin perms (on the box). At the moment, the preference would be to do so without using .Net, in an effort to keep the implementation simple.

Scenario: A single package is scheduled to run at a predetermined time. Once complete it writes to the Windows Application Log.

Thanks in advance,

Henry

Remoting Timeout When Calling SSIS Package Execute From A Windows Service

Sep 12, 2007

When running an integration services package from a windows service I get the "Object ... has been disconnected or does not exist at the server." exception after aproximately six minutes of execution.

This is *not* my windows service failing. I can loop indefinately while tracing to a log file within the service and it will run forever. While calling the mypackage.execute(...) method however, after six minutes (give or take) the exception is thrown...

my code looks something like this:
<code>
dim foo as Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application
mypackage = foo..LoadPackage(strimportPkgFilename, pkgevents)
results = myPackage.Execute(Nothing, Nothing, pkgevents, Nothing, Nothing)
</code>

<error>
A first chance exception of type 'System.Runtime.Remoting.RemotingException' occurred in mscorlib.dll
Exception in: frmMyForm.DoImports

</error>

oddly, this same code works perfectly if I run it within a windows form application no matter how long it takes.

It also runs fine if the package can complete in under six minutes.

Any suggestions?

Package Execution Fails In Windows Service But Runs Fine As A Windows Application.

Jun 23, 2006

I am attempting to write a Windows service that watches a database for uploaded files to import. When a new file is found, the corresponding SSIS package is run from the file system with variables passed through. I started development as a Windows app and copied the functionality to a service.

The app runs fine. The service does not. I get a "Failure" each time a package is executed. Everything is identical behind the scenes with the obvious exceptions that OnStart and OnStop handlers are buttons in the app. I added a script task at the beginning of one of the SSIS packages to notify me that it is even running at all. It doesn't even hit that initial task.

Again, the app will run all packages just fine. The data is imported and the results return as "Success."

The following is the code executing the package. Any help is appreciated. I've been banging my head on this one for a few days now. (Is there a tag to format a code sample?)

Dim pkgLocation As String
Dim pkg As New Package
Dim app As New Application
Dim pkgResults As DTSExecResult

pkgLocation = sPackageFolder & PackageName & ".dtsx"

pkg = app.LoadPackage(pkgLocation, Nothing)

Dim vars As Variables = pkg.Variables

vars("ImportId").Value = ImportId
vars("ProductionServer").Value = ProductionServer
vars("ProductionDatabase").Value = ProductionDatabase
vars("SourceFileName").Value = FileName
vars("SourceFilePath").Value = FilePath

pkgResults = pkg.Execute()

Rerunning Package With Parallel Tasks

Jun 26, 2007

Hello,

I have done a search and have read some of the posts, but am left more confused than before. I am fairly new to SSIS. Here is my situation and what i am trying to accomplish.

I have a package that has a sequence container, in which there are multiple SQL tasks (about 20) running in parallel. I have checkpoints enabled, and FailPackageOnFailure enabled as well. If the package fails, when i re-run the package it will run the last task as well as all the other tasks. What I am looking to accomplish is when the package is re-run, have the SQL tasks that failed ran and not the previous successful tasks.

I think the best way would be via disabling tasks on successful completion of a task, where it writes the name of the SQL task to a temp table, but I am skeptical.

Can anyone point me in a direction to help me accomplish what I am looking for please.

Thanks in Advance.

Same Event Handler For All The Tasks In The Package

Feb 12, 2007

Hi,

We want to develop an error handling process that will log the errors into multiple destinations (eventlog, text files or sql database) depending upon a variable set in the package. Also we want that this errror handling process should be initiated by all the tasks in the package on error.

Is this possible? Can the same event handler be called from multiple tasks in the package? Also in the event handler can we call another package which actually does the error handling. This way we have only one place to change our error handling process in case required.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Is there a way for me to set the package so it has a consistent point or display at which it opens?
