Run Sp_resyncmergesubscription To Solve Un-sync Data Problem Between Subscribers And Publisher

May 4, 2007

Hello,

I have set up a merge replication with 4 subscribers and a publisher on SS05 sp2 on 5 window servers. After running my application on the replication with big data for a while, the data in some of tables of subscriber are out of sync from the publisher. I tried to run sp_resyncmergesubscription to fix the problem according to http://doc.ddart.net/mssql/sql2000/html/replsql/replmon_9pwh.htm. The procedure run successfully. However, the problem is still exist.

Does anyone else have this problem. Please help!

Distinguish Between The Publisher And The Subscribers

Nov 10, 2006

I have a database on SQL Sever 2005 SP1 against which a Publication has been defined and to which many servers (both Workgroup and Express editions - SP1) Subscribe to.

I would like to be able to distinguish between the Publisher and the Subscribers programmatically via T-SQL.

From reading BoL and various forums it appears that the IsPublished, IsMergePublished and IsSubscribed options of the DatabasePropertyEx function should give me this information.

However within all our tested environments, whilst the IsMergePublished option returns expected values. IsPublished and IsSubscribed both return 0 on all servers (the Publisher and Subscribers).

Is this a know issue and how can I rectify the problem or alternatively does anyone know of another method to distinguishing between the Publishers and Subscribers.

Thanks

Replication :: One Publisher 2 Subscribers

Nov 9, 2015

Is it possible to replicate data from one publishers to a multiple subscribers in transaction replication? In other words I have Server A, Server B, Server C with databases A,B,C respectively. I need to replicate 10 articles from A to B but only 1 from A to C. In other words I want to use the same publisher but select one article from that publisher instead of all 10 to Server C/database C.

If it is possible what will be the drawbacks of such implementation? Will performance be a hit?

Data Doesn't Be Transfered To One Of My Subscribers!

Feb 7, 2007

I use merge replication and the topology is central publication. I have 20 subscribers.

when I run agent, I got message "No data needed to be merged". Publisher doesn't send data to this subscriber. When I update date again, I can send data to subscriber.

Why?!

How replication works?!

and How specifies records that must be send to the subscriber?!

Publisher and subscriber work with SQL 2000 with sp 3 installed on windows server 2003.

Please help me.

Thanks.

Transactional Replication - Updatable Subscribers - Image Data Type- Sql Server 2000

Aug 21, 2007

Sql Server 2000

I am looking for bidirectional transactional replication using updatable subscribers (queued or immediate) . Is it possible to replicate the image data from the updatable subscribers to the publisher. I understood that the Image data can't be replicated to the publisher from the updatable subscriber. I am not using the WRITETEXT or UPDATETEXT. I am using just INSERT and UPDATE for image data type transactions.

Any thoughts on this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

How To Filter Data From Publisher

Jun 13, 2008

I have a master database at headquarters which will be the publisher. I have 5 databases at client sites that have the same database schemas as the master, which will be the subscribers. Each table in the database contains a Customer_No column, which is set as a default to 1 at client 1, 2 at client 2, 3 at client 3, etc. The master database contains data for all customers.

How do I get Merge Replication to only replicate the data from the publisher based on the customer_no column in each table?

Filter Data Back To Publisher

Mar 1, 2007

Hi all,

We have merge replication set up between 2 instances of SQL 2005 through web synchronization. I was wondering is it possible if the subscriber adds data at their end can we selectively edit what data gets uploaded back to the publisher? Will this work if I add a filter to the appropriate article at the publisher or will that only limit what goes down to the subscriber rather than vice-versa?

Also, could we set up web sychronization if the publisher had no direct access to the IIS server (ie. was not on the same network, available only through port 80, 443)?

Thanks,

Iain

I have a wired situation..!I set up transactional replication on one of my development server (SQL2000 Dev Edition with sp4).It is running fine without any issues and all of a sudden, i noticed inmy repication monitor tab under Publisher where I usually see thepublication is empty now.I do see the snapshot agent, log reader and distribution agent under myagents inside the replication Monitor. But its usefull to see all 3agents in one window under publisher before. What happend? Is there anyway to get that inside that monitor? Has someone encountered thissitation before? Please advise....After that I tried to create a new set of replication on differentdatabase on the same server and i dont see those either underReplication Monitor - Publishers....All it says is (No Items)....I would appreciate any help to correct this issue... Incompatiable Data Sync

Jul 23, 2005

Hi,We are going to be running two SQL Server 2000's from the samephysical server, with Windows Server 2003, and I need to have certaintables between them syncronized. Database A is a backend to a website anddatabase B is going to be used by a different department. Both thedatabases have certain data in common but it isn't stored in the sameformat. I can't just auto sync one with the other, the data (records) hasto be manipulated before updates between them can take place. So, what I need to do is convert certain data when A is updated and tranferthat to B and vice-versa, in real-time. I've looked at Snapshot, thatisn't an option. I imagine some kind of Event Driven API is needed, wheredo i being?TIA

Sync Data Between Two SQL Servers

Jul 20, 2005

Ok..here is my problem. I have two SQL servers that I need to haveidentical, at least semi-real time data on. One is in a public DMZwith full access to and from the internet, and one is behind acorporate firewall and the box can get out to the internet but cannotbe hit directly from the internet in. The two are on seperatenetworks and cannot be connected via lan. Is there a way for me tohave semi-real time data transfers between the two to keep bothservers identical? I have thought that the server behind the firewallcould initiate an XML session with my dmz sql server and processupdates, but I am unfamiliar with how it would know what has changedon the remote server and how the remote server would know what haschanged on the server behind the corporate firewall. Any good ideas?ThanksDan Hirsch

Sync Database Data Between PCs

Mar 24, 2008

I'm working on an application that will be running on two or more machines. Each machine is logging data to a local SQL Compact database. I would like to make these two computers sync the data with eachother, but I am unsure what the best method is to transfer data between machines in a table format. I think XML would work well, but there may be something easier, so I thought I'd ask. Do I want to use sockets to do this, or is there another type of connection that would work better?

All PCs will know the IP addresses of their peers. I forsee each PC having a server thread that is listening all the time. Each PC also has a client that checks to see if it can connect to the server on the other side. It then requests certain data, which the server part sends. Does this sound right?

The rest of the app is in Visual Basic 2008 Express.

Thanks,
Lance

Besides Replication, What Other Alternatives To Sync Data?

Dec 23, 2004

I have 3 SQL databases: A, B and C. A and B are branch databases while C is the central (HQ) database. A & B will be constantly updated while C will updated occasionally and usually will be used for reporting/data browsing. Even though A & B are from different branch, they do have share some data records.

Every day, I will have to sync A & B's new/updated data to C and C to A/B. I know I can use Replication but I can't. You see, A & B are located in our own branch server while C was hosted on a third-party server. The webserver provider for C would not allow me to do any Replication on C.

What other alternatives that I can use to synchronise all 3?

DTS? XML transfer? It looks as if I have no choice but to write my own sync scripts? :((

Anyone has encountered similar situations? Any recommended SQL Tool programs?

Please help. I'm at a loss of what Im going to do.

Single Direction Transfer Of Data In Merged Publication (subscriber To Publisher)

May 28, 2008

Hi,
We have an existing merged replication schema that works well. One of the
tables is named audit. Currently this is a bidirectional transfer. However,
we want a new audit table that will transfer data from the subscriber to the
publisher and not the other way round. I have a script that was generated as a backup script when replication was first created. I have no idea which parameter to change in order to have the merge replication going from subscriber to publisher. Any advise is helpful. Thanks.

Data Sync Between SQL Server 2000 And SQL Serv

Apr 15, 2008

Hello,

I have SQL Server 2000 and 2005 running on the same server. My current system is in SQL Server 2000 and the new system is in SQL Server 2005. My users will be using SQL Server 2000 for the most part, But for the part the processes that have been migrated to 2005, they will be using SQL Server 2005 as well. The database schema is different on both servers eventhough the data will be similar in most respects.

Is there is a way through which any data that is inserted/updated in SQL Server 2000 via content Management System/ manually/ via a batch job, the data is automatically populated in SQL Server 2005 tables or vice versa?

Please advice at the earliest.

Thanks.

No. Of Subscribers In Transactional Replication...

Hi,

I am Using Transactional Replication with Updatable Subscriptions. Is there any limitations in the number of subscribers (Servers) used for this type of replication?

I have a scenario of configuring this replication in 60 Subscribers(Servers). And the replication should be in the Continuous running mode. Will Transactional Replication with Updatable Subscriptions work in this scenario??? Or is it meant to work for less than 10 subscribers?

Please reply asap.

Compressed Snapshot With Push Subscribers

Oct 16, 2007

Hi,

I have a server in our central location which is a compressed snapshot publisher. I have 2 push subscribers in remote locations on very slow WAN links. I would like the snapshot cabinet file to be uncompressed at the subscribers location rather than the publisher location. Is this possible with push subscribers? I want to manage the pushing of data to the remote subscribers from the publisher location.

I understand the default with push subscriptions is to uncompress the cabinet file at the publisher location.

Thanks,
Mark.
