I have around 160 packages in SSIS. When i run these packages, after some times the errror comes that the system is low on virtual memory and then visual studio freezes. I have a machine with 1G memory. All these packages are not running parallely but they have some dependencies defined on them.
Please let me know if theres some way to configure it correctly,

I have a query that executes just fine except that it won't recognize varchar(255) ( or any other value within the () ) and if I leave it off like this: varchar, then it executes but it leaves that value as 1 and that is just not very useful for my purposes. This also happens with anything else that requires () to add length such as char(), or nvarchar(), etc... Any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am unable to debug code from a SQL Database Project using the CLR. After VS 2005 does the auto-attaching to the SQL server, VS hangs until I tell it to stop debugging. Many others have reported this as a similar problem, however this only seems to affect me when I€™m connecting to specific servers. Specifically it seems to be remote connections. When I attempt to connect to my SQL 2005 Developer Edition €ślocally€? I get right through and can debug.

When I attempt to connect to a remote server running Enterprise Edition, it hangs after a successful attach.
Auto-attach to process '[1856] [SQL] virtual2003eric' on machine 'virtual2003eric' succeeded.
Sometimes after countless attempts, I am able to get this to work, but lately I have had no success. As far as the SQL Server side, enabling and disabling the CLR through the Surface Area Configuration seems to be the only place to do anything relative to the CLR inside SQL server.
I have firewalls disabled. All SQL Servers presently have both SQL 2005 SP2 and Visual Studio 2005 SP1 installed.
I€™ve tried restarting servers and services, checking and un-checking €śAllow SQL/CLR Debugging€? and those steps did not work for me.
Does anyone have any insight on this one? Any ideas on how I can further debug this one?

We have a problem with visual studio. It hangs when i use the "execute package" option. New packages are running correctly but the packages which i've already built are not executing anymore...Any ideas to get things on track again?

When I push my SSIS packages up to my production server (which has a different data source than my developement environment) and I try to open the package on the production server, it takes forever for to validate all the steps of the SSIS package because it's trying to validate against a datasource that isnt there, so it just waits for each element it's validating to time out. This is exceptionally annoying.
Is there a way to turn off this validation 'feature'?
When creating a report using reporting Services with a cube as a datasource, visual studio 2005 hangs. I have applied SP1 to visual studio.net 2005 .
This is the query generated by query designer in reporting services. When I try to drag and drop another dimension to slice it by , visual studio hangs.
The fact table has just 10,000 records. Are the number of dimensions used to slice the cube too many? How do I optimize this query?

When I close and open the package it hangs on validation of single task out of all.

These seems like bugs in SSIS/SSDT. What would cause the relocation of some script code to hang the validation process like this?
Under the SSIS Packages folder I got a slew of packages ... would like to sort them alphabetically so they're easier to find ... but how???

I get this message in a balloon that pops up frequently when I am trying to work in the SSIS designer. For example, I get it when working in a DataFlow task, trying to open editors for the OleDb Source and Destination. Is anyone else getting this? What could be the cause, it seems to get sluggish. When i try to take the project from source safe and store that on a different machine B i have a problem with it....
I check in everything on Machine A
When i try to add on machine B it tries to add it with "Name of package(1)" which means that its adding a copy.But it dosent do for all only for few

How do you define a JDBC datasource in Microsoft Visual Studio? I am using Microsoft Visual Studio to develop reports for SSRS and would like to connect to DB2 via JDBC. Attempting to use the SQL JDBC install as a example, I don't see how to define the SQL JDBC driver to Visual Studio. The SQL JDBC runtime install is very clear, but I don't see how to use this type of datasource in Visual Studio.

I'm in a SSIS Package Design tab working on a data flow. It was working fine up to now, but all of a sudden I keep getting this error that says, "Microsoft Visual Studio has encountered a problem and needs to close." And it has that "Send Error Report" and "Don't Send" button at the bottom. This started happening when I tried to add a Data Viewer on a Data Flow Path. And now every time I do this to try to debug my data flow, it gives me this message and closes my project.
However, the package executes without any package errors, but I as I described above, I can't add a Data Viewer because it keeps giving me this message and closing my package.
My home machine has sql 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 installed. I uninstalled VS 2005 (RTM) and installed VS 2008 (RTM) in its place. I then found that the SSIS templates were missing. Lesson: don't uninstall VS 2005 if you want to use SSIS 2005!
1. Is there any "workaround" to this issue?
2. (If the answer to 1 is "No") I will install VS 2008 side-by-side with VS 2005 on the same box. When the SSIS issue is finally resolved, can I uninstall VS 2005 without doing damage to the VS 2008 install?

I created several packages (MyProjectPart1 - MyProjectPart9) which I execute on the server directly(right-click package in integration services and execute). These packages alI deployed the server with logging and configuration files. Before deploying I edited the configuration file (changed all dependent file names and sql server name from default on my workstation to those unique to the server I'm deploying it to) and then ran the manifest file which pushed it onto the server. I then ran the packages from the server an it ran beautifully. I then tried to build a package which executes all the packages in the correct order (by adding 9 execute package tasks). The dependen files are on the E: emp folder on the server.
I have included the error messg...but it looks like it's looking for dependent drives on the C drive on my workstation. I don't get this? How do I supply configuration files? Why is it executing differently when I call it from package execute task and when I execute it on SQL Server

CLEARLY, the hang comes when one highlites a line and then cursors down to highlight additional lines...I believe this invokes refactoring --- while pre-refactoring install would get a hang occasionally, I now get one frequently. I am uninstalling refactor....

Over the weekend, I loaded the SQL Server SP2 on to my production database after having it on my dev server for two weeks with out any problems.
After I did this, I went to check all my SSIS packages and found them not able to load.
I get this message €śMicrosoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document: The package failed to load due to error 0xC0010014 €śOne or more error occurred. There should be more specific errors preceding this one that explains the details of the errors. This message is used as a return value from functions that encounter errors€?. This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.
Now when I look at the errors I see:

I installed the hotfix available at support.microsoft.com/kb/936971 and even rebooted the server, but I am still getting the error. I am working on a Windows 2003 server with SQL Server 2005 (and reporting services). I am not trying to publish any reports using SSRS. I'm just working on designs and saving them. Any help for this at this point?

I have all this gray space at the top of my tasks. When I <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Left-click> to select all of my tasks and then try sliding it up, it creates even more gray space and actually moves it down. If instead when I <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Left-click> and then <Ctrl>+<Arrow-up> it doesn't move it. Is there any easy way to eliminate all this gray space at the top?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are using SQL Server 2005 Standard edition. We have the development studio installed on a developer€™s workstation. The SSIS package is accessing network folders using UNC and the tasks in packages are accessing SQL Server with a SQL Server id.
The SSIS package runs fine on the workstation. We deploy the SSIS package as a SSIS store on SQL Server. I receive Error 18456 Severity 14 State 8 error when I run the SSIS package as a SQL Agent job.
When I run the SSIS package from the Integration Services Management Studio, I get The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "dboSQLabm" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
I€™m sure this is a permission based problem since it runs fine on my workstation. I tried logon onto the SQL Server with my id (I€™m an admin to the server). I tried running the agent with my windows id. It looks like I€™m getting problem connecting to the SQL Server tables since the logs are properly written to the network drive.
In SQL DTS 2000, all we needed to do was give the SQL agent id permission to the network folder. I tried to search the forums, but none of the solutions seem to work for my situation.
I am used to run SQL server 2005 RDBMS with Visual studio 205 for development. recently, i wanted to try it with the inbuilt sql server express and being able to run the membership query / membership functionality. the proble is that i couldn't run the query using 'aspnet_regsql' from command prompt. I'm working on a large solution with SQL Server 2005 that has dozens of tsql scripts. Running these scripts through the Visual Studio UI takes an annoyingly long time and requires excessively many mouse clicks. I've been tasked with creating a script or C# file that will run all our sql scripts for a given project, but I don't really know how to do that. I'm relatively new to Visual Studio and .NET.
Briefly: Do you know a convenient and quick method to run many sql scripts?

Of course we kept hoping that newer releases would become more stable, or at least more robust -- and now I'm hoping there will be a service pack, which might make it more robust?

This is exactly when I need when a package is running but I want to be able to see it without using Visual Studio.
I would do it in Reporting Services but I need to find out to get the information. The SSIS logging feature in a package does not provide that kind of info.
Did someone try this already?

Our project is on SSIS 2012 and we are using the project deployment model. We have parameter the connection managers, created environments, environment variables and configured the references. Hence, when we deploy the solution to higher environments, the connection strings are picked from the environments and not the ones stored in the connection manager.
However, we face issues when in development environment, we need to run the same package but by entering the values manually in the connection manager. Even though the connection details are correct, when we execute the package from Visual Studio, SSIS is not able to connect to the database. Is there any way to have SSIS prompt for the connection details after we have click on "Execute Task" or "Start" from Visual Studio?Â

I've uninstalled and installed SS 2005 several times, yet the problem persists.

I have a problem when I try to create a new connection with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition from Visual Studio 2005 IDE. When I€™m going to choose the data source, the SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition provider doesn€™t appear in the list. I installed the SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition from this page http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=%2085E0C3CE-3FA1-453A-8CE9-AF6CA20946C3&displaylang=en. In the additional information says by installing SQLServerCE31-EN.msi installs the provider (System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll) in the GAC (global assembly cache) and registers the OLEDB provider (sqlceoledb30.dll). So, I don€™t understand why couldn€™t I create a new connection with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition from Visual Studio 2005 IDE?
