Hi all,
Im not really sure if this is a PHP or and SQL problem but here goes.
Im using MSSQL and have developed a webpage that enables users to run various PACKAGES manually, however I need to display if the package has been successfully run.
Is there a system table that logs package information or is there a PHP function that I can use.
Thanks
P.s I know there are some system tables with the information for jobs but I do not want to create a job for each package.

I have a group of about 5 servers (which will likely grow toabout 25 in the near future) with their names listed in a table in a database on one of the servers. I want to query all servers in that table using the following query to pull the storage drive, database name, created date, age and size of the databases for each server listed in the table:
SELECT left(mf.Physical_Name,2) AS Storage_Drive,
DB_NAME(mf.database_id) AS DatabaseName,
db.create_Date,
DateDiff(day, db.create_date, getDate()) Age,
sum((mf.size*8))/1024 SizeMB
[Code] ...
How would I best accomplish this if I want to implement it using a TSQL procedure?

I am using sql server 2008 r2 on my end. I have created a database named testDB. I have a lot of tables with some log tables in this. some tables have contain lack of records in log table.
So my purpose is that I want to fix the table size of those tables(log tables) and want to move records in other database table placed on another location. So my database has no problem.
is there any way to make such above steps which I want for my database?
Is there already built any such functionality in sql server?

Hi friends,
I have Transfered my dts packages from sql 2000 to sql2005 by directly migrating the rows from Sysdtspackages table on sqlserver 2000 to Sysdtspackages table on Sqlserver 2005.Now im able to see all my DTS of sql2000 in sqlserver 2005 Management studio under MANAGMENT--->LEGACY--->Data transforamtion services and i have all the corresponding records in sysdtspackages table of MSDB database on SQLSERVER 2005.
Now i have to schedule a job for executing these dts packages. In the job schedule window, when i try to select my dts packages on the SSIS package store for the package source and go to SSIS --->MSDB, IM NOT ABLE TO FIND MY DTS PACKAGES? WHERE ARE MY DTS PACKAGES GONE. HOW CAN I SCHEDULE.
i can find another table by name 'sysdtspackages90' on msdb database.do i have to migrate the data from sysdtspackages to sysdtspacakges90 ?

I need to automate the following function. I know I can do this in .NET but I need to have a DTS package setup so it executes every evening.
I have a view that produces a list of sales errors. I want to grab the SaleID from each record and insert a record into a "Current Queue" table.
Here is another example of what I'm trying to do...
SELECT SaleID FROM vw_SalesErrors
- with the results of the SQL statement above
INSERT INTO tbl_QueueRecords
(SaleID, QueueID)
VALUES
(@SaleID, 14)
I'm assuming there is a way to automate this into a single stored procedure or at least a DTS pacakge.
Thanks for all of your help.

We have just started using SQL 2005 and released our first few projects to prodcution. We are currently using msdb storage for SSIS packages in production using the 'rely on server storage' for protection level and separating each subject areas by folders under msdb in the management studio.
However some of our DBA's feel that this is not the right approach and we should be storing as XML.
Anyone has any recommendation for either or considerations to be taken when deciding what storage to use?
Thanks!

Somehow I have an impression this can be done.
Somehow I tried myself by modifying MsDtsSrvr.ini.xml to point it to network UNC share, but it didn't work for me. It gave me an error
"Failed to retrieve data for this request (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum)
Additional Information: The storage localtion for the folder 'File System' cannot be accessed. (MsDtsSrvr)"
I checked my UNC permission, and I even allow full access from "everyone", but it still does not work.
I paste my MsDtsSrvr.ini.xml here too, and any help is greatly appreciated!

How to implement distinct storage tiers on SQL Remote BLOB Storage (RBS)?
I want to use this SQL Feature to move files(images, videos, pdf files) from a database to a distinct database dedicated to RBS. Then I want to have several storage tiers, where objects will be saved and moved according access frequency. Old data will be arquived in cheap storage, but it must be always accessible if needed.
Description:
- 1st and main tier: new and frequently accessed objects stored in high performance storage;
- 2nd tier: automatically move older or less accessed objects to an inexpensive and different storage tier;
- in all cases, all objects must be accessible to all users, but accessing to archived objects(2nd tier) will be much slower;

I am creating an SSIS Package to import some data. The package contains a big for each loop with 3 parallel running nested for each loops. The package crashes within the big loop without returning any error information. It starts up the sqldumper and genreates an dump - but does not report any error to the UI (Visual Studio or dtexec). While I am running only one for each loop and disable the others the package executes successfully. Has anyone an idea what might be wrong ? or is the only chance to submit a bug report ?
Thanks

Hi all,
I am supposed to maintain a bunch of excels documenting all the mappings I'm doing in SSIS. The excels have the following format:
Target Field | Target Type | Source Table | Source Field | Source Type | Transformation Rule
Apart from being incredibly tedious, it is hard to keep every excel current, as there are other people adding and taking information from the database model.
I plan to extract this information from SSIS and create the excels dinamically, but, apart from parsing the .dtsx for each package, I see no other way of getting what I need.
Any suggestions on how I should do this? Is there an easier way?
Cheers,
David Leal

This package should run automatically at mid-night daily so that if there are some entries done in Oracle database then it get copied in SQL Server 2000 database. Also is there any way to copy only those entries from Oracle database which are not present in SQL Server 2000 database. Please help me in this regard as I am new to DTS.

Hi ,This is related to datawarehouse , data mining . We are told that datamining tools such as spss or sas , need a large table which has lotsof columns inside . Based on our project , out final table which willbe used in data mining , has lots of computed values . The finalnumber of columns of the table is 7800!(lots of calculated values)First of all , i dont see the reason of this requirement of the datamining tools. I will be appreciated if someone can clarify this: Whydoes a data mining tool need such a large table?The main issue is if i create table with 7800 columns inside ( in factoracle only allows to create table with 1000 columns) , i believe itcant be queried.My basic calculation shows that the average row size of this tablewill be 160kb. , considering my db_block_size of 16kb. this means 10blocks for 1 row. (The table will have more than 10.000.000 rows) Nomatter how fast my disk subsystem is , i think the queries againstthis table will fail. So what can i do? May be I need a differenttype of storage technique for instance column based storage ( i heardthat sysbase has this feature , dont know the details / purpose..)How can i solve such a problem? The database server really does notmatter , it can be oracle,sqlserver , sybase,informix , etc... I willbe appreciated if someone can help me abut the issue.Kind Regards,hope

I am planning on doing database mirroring using two (2) servers for each instance and a SAN to store the data and log files for both the primary server and mirrored server. How do I arrange the SAN 4 Physical Drives?
My options are:
· 2 Raid 1 Mirrors giving 250 GB to each SQL engine This though has both the transaction logs and data on the same physical drive even if we split it up further into logical drives
· A Raid 10 - The transaction logs and data can be on separate drives
· A Raid 5 using the 4 Drives. (How SQL will see these drives Im not sure when its 2 SQL engines)
· Or I could get a 5th drive and have a mirror set for transaction logs and a RAID 5 configured for the data.
