SQL 2000 And CCrystal Reports 10 Error

Jan 11, 2007

I am converting a report from Crystal 8.5 to Crystal 10 and receiving this error message:

Query Engine Error: '2001:[microsoft][odbc sql server]string or binary data would be truncated.'

I am using a stored proc in SQL 2000 that returns a text field for the output.

This has completely confused me - any help will be appreciated.

Reports Usage Frequency For All The Existing Reports On SSRS 2000

Mar 18, 2008

I have an already published application running several MS SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services report.
I need a way to find from either the reporting services log or the application server (IIS) logs or windows log
to know the frequency of each report being used.

Based on this info, the business needs to know which reports are being used and to what extend?
How can I acheive this?

I have already got the IIS logs and it did not give the required info.
I have looked into the Reporting Services logs but it does not provide the info either.

Any help is appreciated

Large Reports - Error: The Underlying Connection Was Closed: An Unexpected Error Occurred On A Receive.

Mar 13, 2008

First off I understand that it is a horrible idea to run extremely large/long running reports, but sometimes it ends up being the best possible solution due to external forces.

I've got a 25,000 page report that we recently converted from crystal reports to SSRS. The SSRS server is a 64bit 2003 server with 32 gigs of ram running SSRS 2005. When running the report through the report manager web application, it renders in the browser/viewer after about 12 minutes. Exporting to pdf through the browser/viewer in the report manager takes an additional 55 minutes. It does work and it produces a whopping 1.03gb pdf.

Unfortunately, I've run into a problem when trying to do this from a console application using the SSRS client API. After about 30-35 minutes I get an exception on the client with the following error:
Exception Message: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.
InnerException = Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

Here is the api call:

Code Snippet

byte[] m_data = reportingService.Render(this.ReportPath, this.ExportFormat, null,
deviceInfo, selectedParameters, null, null, out encoding, out m_mimeType,

out usedParameters, out warnings, out streamIds);
Here are some things I've tried so far:

set the HttpRuntime ExecutionTimeout value to 3 hours on the report server
disabled http keep alives on the report server
increased the script timeout on the report server
set the report to never time out on the server
set the report timeout to several hours on the client call
Disabled antivirus on the client side, and verified there was no antivirus running on the reporting server.
Tried using default credentials in the ReportingService object as opposed to supplying credentailsAny ideas would be appreciated. I understand the best solution is to split the report up into smaller reports, which is the backup option, but being able to keep it as one report is the goal.

Sql 2000 Reporting Services - Reports Will Not Render Online

Jul 5, 2007

Hi all,

i got through the installation of the Sql Server 2000 Reporting services evaluation and managed to deploy a couple reports and a shared data source to my reporting server on my DEV box.

Now im trying to view the reports i made online and they never render, all i get is the animated gif that always says "Report is being generated". This goes on and on with apparently no end in sight.

I CAN preview the reports in VS 2003 and they render almost instantly. there are no differences that may affect the connection to the database between my development computer (with VS 2003) and the server that the reporting server is on.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this may be happening ?

thanks,

mcm

Error Retrieving Reports

Jul 23, 2007

I have a report serve at http://MyServer/reportserver
My Asp .net web application is running on anothere machine http://WebappMachine/default.aspx.

Here is what is happening
1.My Report server admin created a folder <<MyName>> and gave me user name and password to acess it .

2.I connect through url http://Servername/reportserver . server prompts me for Username and password . When I key in user name pass word it takes me to the
root . I browsed through to the <<MyNameReports>> and created datasource and uploaded .RDL files.

3.I browse the URL to run reports externally using http://myReportserver/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fDeveloper%2fmyname%2fReports%2ftestreport&rs:Command=Render

it works .

4. I am developing a web app in Asp .net and use reportviewer control to show the report. Credentials is the same as what I using during manually running the reports .Code is as follows

Me.ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerCredentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential(uid, pwd)
Me.ReportViewer1.ProcessingMode = ProcessingMode.Remote
Me.ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = New System.Uri("http://myreportserver/reportserver")
Me.ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportPath = New String("/Developer/myname/Reports/testReport")
Me.ReportViewer1.ServerReport.SetParameters(RptParameters)
Me.ReportViewer1.ServerReport.Refresh()

I get following error .

"The request failed with the error message:
--
<html><head><title>Object moved</title></head><body>

Object moved to here.

</body></html>

--."

I tried to use API

Dim rs As New Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2005.ReportingService2005()
rs.Url = "http://myreportserver/reportserver/ReportService2005.asmx"
rs.Credentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential(UID, PWD)
rs.LogonUser(UID, PWD, Nothing)

Dim items As CatalogItem() = rs.ListChildren("/Developer/myname/Reports", True)

When I debug , it pass through LogonUser method ( or Displays Logon failed when wrng pwd entered ) .But displays same message as above when ListChildren is called .

I appreciate for your time and would be of great help if someone can help me with this .

Reports And Oracle Error

Nov 29, 2007

Hi,

I am using a Oracle database to connect to and generate reports from it. Intermittently, the report after running for sometime raises the oracle error

ORA-12842: Cursor invalidated during parallel execution, which I read could possibly be due to DDL on a schema object and shared pool being flushed. Rerunning again, the report runs fine.

How can this be resolved. Any suggestions/tips are appreciated.

Can't Attach DB, Reports Error 824

Sep 20, 2007

Hi,
SQL Server 2005
When I try to attach a SDE data.mdf I get.

SQL Server detected a logical consistency-based I/O error: incorrect pageid (expected 1:3067392; actual 0:0). It occurred during a read of page (1:3067392) in database ID 10 at offset 0x000005d9c00000 in file 'E:ODYSSEUS SDE DataMSSQL.1MSSQLData.mdf'. Additional messages in the SQL Server error log or system event log may provide more detail. This is a severe error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately. Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC CHECKDB). This error can be caused by many factors; for more information, see SQL Server Books Online. Could not open new database 'sde'. CREATE DATABASE is aborted. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 824)

Is there anyway to fix this DB so it can be attached.

Error Creating Subscription To Reports

Nov 20, 2006

Hi all,

I am having a HUGE issue with SSRS, I am running SQL 2005 on Win 2003 server, the SQL uses SQL and windows permissions.

I have a datasource which stores it credentials securely on the server but for some reason when i try to subscribe to the report it errors saying

"Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored, or if a linked server the link is no longer valid."

Beats me but the credentials are stored, I am  connecting using a user account which can run the report fine (This is proven).

I have SP1 installed, and have literally tried every last option in the book.

N.B i have read all the existing post about this and i seem to have a different issue, I am not using any paraeters in the report i am trying to test and i dont use anything like USR!USERID

Please help!

Andy
