SQL 2000 Reovery Fails Sometimes. Error Code (Error 3136). How To Make Database Write Mode?
Jan 7, 2008
Hello,
I am applying hourly differential backup to the backup server from production with the following command. This command makes the database on standby server into read only mode.
RESTORE DATABASE ARSYSTEM FROM DISK = 'E:SQL backup from productionsql_full_backup'
WITH MOVE 'arsystem' TO
'd:ardataarsystem.mdf' ,
MOVE 'arsystem_log' TO 'D:ARLOGARsystem' ,
STANDBY = 'E:SQL backup from productionSQL daily diff back up'
Now I want to run a command which will put the database in write mode. I have created a job which would make the datbase Write mode. This job runs successfully sometimes and fails sometimes. I need to ensure that the job always succeeds. When it fails, how do I troubleshoot and what is the possible fix?
Thanks in advance.
The error message is
Cannot apply the backup on device 'E:SQL backup from productionSQL daily diff back up' to database 'ARSYSTEM'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 3136) RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 3013). The step failed.
The steps for the job are as follows with the failing step highlighted in bold.
copy /y "\172.31.9.12Remedy BackupackupSQL backupsql_full_backup" "E:SQL backup from productionsql_full_backup"
copy /y "\172.31.9.12Remedy BackupackupSQL backupSQL daily diff back up" "E:SQL backup from productionSQL daily diff back up"
xp_cmdshell 'net stop "bmc remedy action request system server"'
exec rp_kill_db_processes 'ARSYSTEM'
RESTORE DATABASE ARSYSTEM
FROM DISK = 'E:SQL backup from productionsql_full_backup'
WITH
MOVE 'arsystem' TO 'd:ardataarsystem.mdf' ,
MOVE 'arsystem_log' TO 'D:ARLOGARsystem' ,
NORECOVERY
Failing step
RESTORE DATABASE ARSYSTEM
FROM DISK = 'E:SQL backup from productionSQL daily diff back up'
WITH
MOVE 'arsystem' TO 'd:ardataarsystem.mdf' ,
MOVE 'arsystem_log' TO 'D:ARLOGARsystem' ,
RECOVERY
xp_cmdshell 'del /f "E:SQL backup from productionsql_full_backup"'
xp_cmdshell 'del /f "E:SQL backup from productionsql daily diff back up"'
xp_cmdshell 'net start "bmc remedy action request system server"'
I have scheduled the following hourly diffential restore job too which never fails.
RESTORE DATABASE ARSYSTEM FROM DISK = 'E:SQL backup from productionsql_full_backup'
WITH MOVE 'arsystem' TO
'd:ardataarsystem.mdf' ,
MOVE 'arsystem_log' TO 'D:ARLOGARsystem' ,
STANDBY = 'E:SQL backup from productionSQL daily diff back up'
EXEC MASTER..XP_CMDSHELL 'del /f "E:SQL backup from productionSQL daily diff back up"'
Hi, I run 2 steps viz with NORECOVERY and with RECOVERY in sequence as SQP jobs. The 2nd step fails some times. When it starts failing, I run full backup of the production server again and the 2nd step starts succeding. Unless I run the full backup the 2nd step keeps on failing.
What are the conditions which generate for [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 3013) and how to tackle this problem.?
The 2 steps are :- 1.RESTORE DATABASE ARSYSTEM FROM DISK = 'E:SQL backup from productionsql_full_backup' WITH Replace , MOVE 'arsystem' TO 'd:ardataarsystem.mdf' , MOVE 'arsystem_log' TO 'D:ARLOGARsystem' , NORECOVERY GO
2.RESTORE DATABASE ARSYSTEM FROM DISK = 'E:SQL backup from productionSQL daily diff back up' WITH Recovery
The status of the 2 steps is : 1 Executed as user: BPOTESTREMEDY emedybackup. Processed 104480 pages for database 'ARSYSTEM', file 'ARSystem' on file 1. I have a Data Flow Task within an SSIS package where data is pulled from a Fixed Width flat file, goes through a conditional split, and sends data either to a SQL Server 2000 table, or to another fixed width flat file.
The first condition in the conditional split checks for the following; [Column 44] + [Column 45] != "D1" . If this is true, then those rows go to a SQL Server 2000 table destination. If false, then the rows go to another flat file.
The SQL Server 2000 table has a unique nonclustered index with ignore_dup_key. From what I can tell, it looks like the step fails when a duplicate record is encountered. However, it appears that the unique records still go into the table.
When I check the 'Progress' tab of the package, the following steps seem to be suspect;
[Populate Staging [786]] Information: The final commit for the data insertion has started. [Populate Staging [786]] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Duplicate key was ignored.". [Populate Staging [786]] Information: The final commit for the data insertion has ended. [DTS.Pipeline] Error: The ProcessInput method on component "Populate Staging" (786) failed with error code 0xC0202009. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running. [DTS.Pipeline] Error: Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0202009. [DTS.Pipeline] Information: Post Execute phase is beginning.
..and..
Task 2 Isolate Suspect Records and Insert Known Good Records failed
In one case, the source flat file had 74,101 rows. Each row tested true in the conditional split, and all but one row made it into the SQL Server table. The step failed, and the 'Progess' section containted the entries mentioned above.
The Connection Manager for the SQL Server table destination uses the Native OLE DBMicrosoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.
Is the 'error' that occurs when a duplicate row is encountered causing the Data Flow task to fail, or could it be something else?
Thank you for your help. Please let me know if you need more information.
Recently in an SSIS package I am getting the following error for a particular Data flow task.
Error: 2008-01-25 12:01:48.58
Code: 0xC0202009
Source: Import Datasynapse Data User Events Source [3017]
Description: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x8000FFFF.
End Error
Error: 2008-01-25 12:01:48.73

Source: Import Datasynapse Data DTS.Pipeline
Description: component "User Events Source" (3017) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202009.
End Error
Our guess is when the data size of User Events table is more it throws this error. If we try to transfer small subset of data it succeeds. What could be reason for this error?
Since this is very urgent, immediate response would be very much appreciated.
When I use SSIS for extract data from ssas, that means,I use mdx query.
then random error occured.
Hope some one can understand my poor English....
And the Error Info show below.

during install of SRS 2000 in a dev environment I get the following error:

If I choose ignore, the wizard freezes and no further activity is performed regardless of how long I leave it.
Also, during the install it does not automatically detect the SQL server name when nominating the server, you have to type this in manually even after refreshing the list.
The SQL server was installed using the default instance.

I have two instances (Source and Destination) on the same server, i did a full backup of a database on the source server, i did a restore on the destination using the NORECOVERY mode, now the database on the destination as green arrow saying "restoring". From the source database i set up the mirroring, i'm using port 5022 on source and 5023 on destination, everything seems to connect fine but when i start mirroring i get the error message "Database mirroring cannot be enabled because the database is not full recovery error: 1465" but when i look at the property of the db on the source the recovery model shows full as so the destination?
I have done a full backup on 3pm, and a differential backup on everyday 5pm.
I try to restore it back in my testing server and i encounter the problem in restoring the File3 and i try to restore the File 2 and it is okie. Can i know wat is the problem usually cause this error? Thank you
I am currently working in VB.NET with SQL Mobile 2005. I am trying to compact a database, .sdf, using the SqlCeEngine Object compact(connectionstring). When I use this code to compact a small database, only about 300KB, it returns okay however when I try to compact a larger database, about 9MB, it returns with a SQL Error Code: 0, "The operation completed successfully" however with no compacted database. The code works however it only seems to work for smaller databases. Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this error or tell me why it returns with that type of error.
We are running SQL 2000 sp4, only one user database (SAP) the database is 63 GB. The ldf files were trashed so I went to tape to restore. We are using veritas backup exec 9.1 sp4. Veritas is on the same server. I can restore the master db and the msdb fine. However when we attempt to restore the DEV db it runs for 2 hours and then fails with a communication error from veritas. When we restore the master the DEV db comes up suspect as there are no files for it to attach to) so we cannot attach to it to restore, so I have deleted it and attempted to restore - same communication error. I have recreated a db named DEV with the mdf etc created to the size needed plus some to be sure, no good same behavior (behavior described below). The job starts and it creates all the folders for the database (there are 1 MDF, 5 NDF, and 4 LDF files each in its own folder). Then it begins to create teh individual files it gets ~half way through at about an hour-hour and fifteen. During this time there are a large number of writes being performed by SQL (I assume it is creating the structures). Then it switches over to reading from tape a large number of read by beengine for another 45-1.5 hours then the job fails with the error unable to communicate with the device. I ahve noticed that once it starts reading from tape the db is gone from enterprise manager, and the mdf etc. files that were being created are now gone.
I can access Microsoft Access database via ODBC on Windows 2000 usingC++. Now, I would like to use the SAME piece of code to access MS SQLon Windows. Can I achieve this without any modification to my existingcodes? Then, I would like to use the SAME piece of codes to access Oracleon Windows? Is it possible? Thanks in advance!
In my string below, my forum setup up file, setup.asp , when run delivers an error that it is unable to connect to the database. Error: 800004005
I am running this from within IIS 5.0 aon a Windows 2000 Server, by right clicking the file in IIS and choosing "browse" I am trying to set this up so user IUSR_SERVER_NAME can "read and Write" to the database or instance I have created called rpggamerpro. The authentication in the SSSAC is set to use both Windows and SQL Authentication for the "master". I have set permissions on the folder which contains the SQL 2005 Express installation and database for IUSR_SERVER_NAME to read/write. I have created a IUSR_SERVER_NAME user in the Security/User directory for the database or instance "rpggamerpro" and gave the user read/write permissions there. So I am still at a loss as to what permissions, strings, settings, configuration or whatever the heck else needs to be done in order to get this thing to work. Please anyone willing to help a realative new commer to the SQL and DB world would be greatly appreciated.

msg 8966, level 16, state 1, line 1 could not read and latch page ( 1:15807 ) with latch type SH. sysindexes failed. msg 8966, level 16, state 1, line 1 table error: object id 0, indexid 0, page ID (1:15807) the pageid in the page header = (0:0) The error has been repaired.
I get the same message each time I run the DBCC command.
I can select * from sysindexes with no problem.
If I select * from sysindexkeys, I get the following:
msg 601, level 12, state 3, line 1 could not continue scan with nolock due to data movement.
I'm wondering if sysindexkeys is corrupt and causing this problem?...
I have also tried to bcp data out of the database with no success.
After restoring a database to a new server running SBServer 2003 with SQL 2000, I can access the database with any of the users accounts from the desktop of the server. When I try to attach to the database from a workstation on the network i receice the error "user nae does not exist". Any help will be appreciated.
SQL Users/DBAs,I'm trying to move data files around for a database that is in standbymode. I can detach/attach the database fine usingSP_DETACH_DB/SP_ATTACH_DB , but when I re-attach the database the logsequence is broken and I can't restore any more logs. Does anyoneknow if there is a way to move around data files and keep the databasein standby mode? Thanks,JB
Hi,After sending a request, I would get the possible error message. Not the code @@error, nor the exact content of sysmessages, but themessage like it could be in the log file.TIA,TSalm
