Hi there, can anyone tell me how to setup or enable mixed mode authentication in SQL 2005? also is it possible to transfer views or stored procedures from 1 database to another? If so where do I go to do this. I thought a DTS may do it but cant find the correct option in the Management Studio to do this.
I need help changing the authentication mode from Windows Authentication to Mixed Mode (for Project Server 2003). I am unable to find the Enterprise Management area. Evidently in this area, I can make this change. Is this the place to make these changes, or is there a better place? I am a novice, only days into this process. I need to setup a Project Server, and it needs Sql to breathe. Please help me!!
Durning install I selected Window's Authentication only, but now it seems we may need to use a Mixed Mode with an SA account etc... is there anyway to switch SQL 2005 to use Mixed Mode after the fact?
I have a SQL 2005 OTC. CTP version running on Windows 2003 server.
I would like to find out how the SQL server option changed to Windows Authentication mode from Mixed mode over the weekend. From the SQL log, I don't see when it changed. I would like to see Date/Time and client IP. If I can see User ID (windows) that would be great. Where I can find these info in SQL server?
After installing SQL Server 2005 I found that I inadvertantly used Windows Authentication Mode and I would like to change to Mixed Mode (Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication) - what is the best way to do this? In Microsoft SQL Server 2000 you could simply go into Enterprise Manager, edit the SQL Server Registration Properties, edit the Properties of the SQL Server and edit the Properties of the SQL Server Agent.
I would like to set 'SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode' of Sql Server 2005 so when user connects to Server he must supply username and password. Here are steps I make :
1. Open Microsoft SQL ServerManagement Studio Express 2. In Object Explorer right click on first (Server) node 3. Select 'Properties' 4. Select Page 'Security' 5. set 'Server authentication' to 'SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode' 6. press OK 7. in popup window fill password ******** and press OK 8. get error message ''operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.SqlManagerUI)
I program in C# with SQL Server 2005. I need to connect to Server in security mode.
In connection string I supply UserID = myuser Password = mypassword Persist Security Info = True
In Server I set mixed authentication mode, create login 'mylogin' with password = mypassword after that in my database I create user with username = myuser and loginName = mylogin
There are two problems :
1. in login creation after I fill password, close window and open it again there is old (default) password but not my password 2. Application fails to connect to DB
First post, so greetings!I've been using ASP.NET 2 authentication from an MS SQL 2k5 database now in the web application for my company's customer accounts (file serving, custom webreports, etc). There is currently no support for employees through this web app, but in our plan to go paperless it's become of interest to let the employees access much of their information through the same web portal. The catch is, I'd rather not make them have to use two accounts (one for their domain authentication and one for their web authentication). It's already taken a lot of conditioning to get them to memorize a single username and password. So what I really need is the single Login.aspx page to accept both ASP.NET logins and Domain digest logins, and the Domain digest login needs to be HTTP based (not named pipes). Is this possible at all, and if so, is it possible without making an isapi filter? After all, Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access is served by the exchange server and accepts active directory passwords. So how could I do authentication in this way, and if so, is it possible to have the Outlook Web Access form be accessible from the same session as that of my web server? Thanks, I surely hope someone can help. . . -Brandon
I am trying to create a query that can determine if a user id is using mixed mode/windows/both authentication. I need to do this so that it can run on both sql server 2000 and 2005, meaning I can't use any of the sys.* views. Is there a single query could use for both systems? -Kyle
I have a question for ya’ll. Our company plans on migrating to active directory soon. I would like to use mixed mode for security. My question is, will this work? Can SQL 6.5 pick up on Active directory or is this handled at the OS layer?
I need to change the authentication mode from 'windows' to mixed, its a 4-node participating in always-on... Will this brake/impact alwayson in any way? I know I have to restart the sql instance.
SP2 refuses to install for the Database Engine because €śthe previous upgrade did not complete€?, i.e. it detects a suspended installation. The same thing happened to me when I installed SP1. I then remember opening the maintenance dialog and completing the setup, after which SP1 installed just fine.
When I try to do the same thing this time, I€™m presented with the €?complete the suspended installation€? option, which when I run it reports the installation completed successfully. However, in reality the installation still remains in suspended mode for whatever reason. If I reboot and open the maintenance dialog, I€™m still presented with the €?complete the suspended installation€? option. I€™ve even tried to run it more than once, but it doesn€™t help. Needless to say, SP2 still refuses to install.
I don't know why the installation is in a suspended state. I know every part of SP1 installed successfully in the end, and the computer never crashed during the installation. I've been using it every day since then, without any problems. All other parts of SP2 did install successfully.
I created a feedback entry on Microsoft Connect, where you can find the log files created by Windows Installer. The URL is: https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=259606
In desperate need of implementing a solution where the customer has purchased a CMS to replace their corporate site and wants to use MSSQL as the DB server type. I have 3 servers allocated to me to complete this and I could use some advice on the best setup. THey're running windows 2003 standard server along with sql 2000 standard server. The intended plan is for the 2 servers to become web servers with the last server becoming the sql server. The CMS will reside soley on the sql server and the content for the web site on the seb server(s). What I need to know is if it's possible to set up an active/passive node to accommadate this using the items mentioned above? From what I've been reading sql 2000 enterprise does clustering but I'm hoping this version of sql can be used for something. Any responses are appreciated.
I have two tables (one-to-many relation) related thru a common key. I have setup the Relation using the Database Designer. The Form is populated using Drag-and-drop which automatically adds the BindingSource, TableAdapter, and Binding Navigator. The Relation works great in the change mode, and life is good.
In the Add mode the field setup with the Foreign Key is not automatically populated as it is in Change mode. The field can be updated manually, but that defeats the purpose of setting up the Relation.
Any ideas how to fix this?
I know this is difficult to visualize without seeing it.
Currently in production we have a publisher, remote distributor, and subscriber all running 2000.

Hi,I'm writing a very simple content management site as a first web project. The info is being entered in a FreeTextBox ID'd as FreeTextBox2. When I use an UPDATE command to update the SQL record it inserts a NULL value into the record. If I change the variable to simple text it inserts it properly. For example, this inserts Test into the record: UpdateCommand="DECLARE @FreeTextBox2 as varChar(100) UPDATE t_content SET PageContent = 'Test' WHERE PageID = 1">But when I run this statement it inserts a NULL: UpdateCommand="DECLARE @FreeTextBox2 as varChar(100) UPDATE t_content SET PageContent = @FreeTextBox2 WHERE PageID = 1">Could someone please point out where I'm going wrong? Thx :)
I want to be able to see when records have been added to a table. The issue is we have a DTS job scheduled to run every night. The developer who wrote it password protected it and doesn't work here anymore. I want to add a step to this series of DTS jobs and want to run it just prior to his job. Is there a way to see when the records are being added or when this job is being run? Thanks again, you guys are the best.
We have 2005 Reporting Services fully functional - Dev, QA and prod (farm). I have at least 5 distinct business group trees in my structure, who have inherited or modified security based upon NT Users and AD groups. Now, we want to replace a major group (<domain_name>Domain Users) with a controlled group.
I cannot find anyway to report or map the folders that a specific NT User and AD group has rights. Cannot it be done?

Hello, I would like to know if anyone here has any information on how to change the default version of SQL Server 2005 Express which ships with Visual Studio 2005 to the new SQL 2005 Express SERVICE PACK 1?
I see a file under disc:vswcuSSESQLEXPR.exe I am wondering if changing that file with the new one from Microsoft Download Center will do it...
There's another file under that folder named sqlexpr32.exe I am wondering what it's for?

Hi,We currently have a fairly old product, which was originally onlycompatible with SQL 2000.When we upgraded our server to SQL 2005, the client product gave us a"This product is not compatible with this version of SQL server"error. We put the server into SQL 2000 compatability mode, and things worked. Then I tested a Windows Vista workstation client. The error returned.I realise that if we are simply dealing with a client incompatabilitywith Vista, then I'm in the wrong forum, but what I'm hoping is thatsomeone knows anything server side, perhaps where SQL 2000compatability mode becomes ignored for some reason, when the client isrunning Vista. The vendor pretty much no longer exists, and nothing I've been able todo with Vista's compatability modes has been helpful so far.
We have reports in SharePoint integrated mode which are really slow when compared to native mode. I have been asked to research and give info on what exactly causes the delays.
Any articles which give me information as to what happens when a report is run from SharePoint server and where does it log.
