Jan 7, 2007Is it true that the Report Manager is not designed to be run on non-IE browsers like Firefox etc?
I can't even view a proper report if it's launched by Firefox......:eek:

Cannot Open SSRS Report Manager URL On Windows Edge Browser
Sep 21, 2015I was using Windows 7 and had SSRS 2014 installed.Having set up the inbound rule on Windows Firewall (port 80), to allow SSRS through, I was able to browse to the Report Manager URL, by opening up Internet Explorer as 'Administrator'..
However, now that I have upgraded to Windows 10, I am unable to open the URL.In fact there is now way for me to open Edge as administrator and open my Report Manager URL.

Can't Log In To Reporting Services In My Browser
Jan 16, 2007I've installed the Developer's edition of SQL05 on my PC at home. I am able to open the reporting services via the Manager Studio and Windows login under my username and password, however I cannot open it in my browser when I enter the
http://computername/reports address. I get a login dialog and enter "computername/myloginID" for the user and my local login password. It will not accept the login and reprompt until I exceed 3 tries.
I also tried logging in with the PC's admin id and password as well as the sa account name and password.
Any ideas on what I missed in the setup or security?

I have a client that has 4 reports; 1 main, and 3 that are rendered when the user clicks the report data on the main report (which passes parameters to generate the other 3).
They would like to have a back button in the report header of the 3 reports (they don't want to use the browser back button).
Is this possible using a text box, then editing the navigation properties and does anyone have an example? Or am I missing something quite obvious?
Any help would be gratefully received!!

When we press the Back button to go to a page that was rendering a report with one or more single-select drop down lists, the selected index in the drop down is reduced by 1, and the report doesn't render until I press "View Report". I have been designed one web page which shows UI through which user can access which ever reports he/she wants. I have kept some buttons on UI. Problem is that, report width is about 40 - 50 % of the screen and report viewer shows the report on the left align of the screen. I just want to show the report at the center of the screen. Also, any property I can use to set the report size in the proportion of screen in Percentage(%).

Jul 29, 2015I know how to size my report to export successfully to A4 portrait PDF and I can position the report in the centre of the browser window BUT I can't do both! I would really like to be able to position it in the centre of my browser window AND be able to print to A4 portrait PDF. If I have the report in the centre (by adjusting the body to take up the whole screen and positioning the report in the centre), it is cut in half when exported to PDF. I can only get it to export to PDF correctly, if the report is aligned to the left of my screen in the browser. Is there a way to move the body to the centre or any other tricks?

I have tried the various IFF or SWITCH expressions below and some work fine in SSDT but when I deploy them to the browser the formatting is lost. This simple IFF expression works. The series is transparent as required both in SSDT (Visual Studio BIDS) and IE11 and Firefox browsers but I need two other conditions.

A list of all built-in reports have been populated under Monitoring>Reports but when I click on them I get the results shown in the screen shot attached. Below is the error I get when I try to open any report from my IE browser. I have confirmed SSRS is running on my SQL server. I actually had to start it in order to get the list of reports to populate becasue it was stopped. An error has occurred during report processing. Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?

SQL Express (Not 2005 Standard) SQL Browser Responses Cause A Problem With SQL 2000
Dec 14, 2007The problem can be seen in Enterprise Manager for 2000 (all service packs), Service Manager for MSDE (2000 all service packs), and OSQL (2000 all versions).
The exact problem is as follows:
In a network environment if SQL EXPRESS (problem does not occurr with 2005 Standard) is installed using defaults
SQL 2000 & MSDE machines will no longer see instances. This is a browser issue for 2000 and MSDE. For some reason the response back to the 2000 machine from the EXPRESS machine causes the 2000 machine to stop listening for reponses.
If you have a network with SQL 2000/MSDE machines that have named instances (default instance is not affected) they will lose sight of eachother when a SQL EXPRESS box is put on the network with its SQL browser service running. We have tried service pack 3a and 4 on the 2000 boxes and it does not resolve the issue. It may resolve issues with 2005 and 2000 on the same machine but this problem is with networked machines and doesn't appear to be the same issue. The SQL EXPRESS machine will be able to see all the
named instances from the 2000 boxes and the 2000 machines usually will only see the EXPRESS named instance until the EXPRESS box SQL Browser service is stopped.
No word from Microsoft so far.

SQL Server Express 2005 Warning Message In Event Log From SQL Browser Service
May 1, 2007Hello,
I have been trying to drill down to the cause for this event log message:
"The configuration of the AdminConnectionTCP protocol in the SQL instance
SQLEXPRESS is not valid."
It is reported from the SQLBrowser service as a warning when the service
starts. I have tried starting SQLBrowser.exe with -c flag, but the output reveals no
errors. I have seen this error on three computers. Two are running SQL 2000, 2005
and Express. One was only running Express, but still this message.
I then looked into the log for the SQL Express server itself. It shows this
message on startup:
"Dedicated administrator connection support was not started because it is
not available on this edition of SQL Server. This is an informational message
only. No user action is required."
Now, it appears to me that these two messages may relate to the same
"error" (or rather behaviour by design). So, can anyone confirm that the
warning in the event log from the SQL Browser service occurs becuase of that
the SQL Express edition doesn't allow any "AdminConnection", but the SQL
Browser service isn't aware of that SQL Express edition shouldn't support that, and
reports it as a warning (implying that we can't do much about this warning)?

when I open the http://serverName/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx, I dont see Contents and Properties tab underneath Home.
When I click Site Settings, I see that I belong to System Administrator and System User Role.
Do I have to be under Content Manager Role to see Contents and Properties tab? With System Adminstration role, shouldn't I be able to do everything( add myself under ContentManager role)? Isn't System Admin superset of all role?
Where do I add myself under ContentManager Role?

Navigating To A Different Tabs In Reporting Manager

I am viewing the report in Reporting Manager. It has four tabs at the top viz. View, Properties History and Subscription. When I click any one of Properties, History or Subscription and click the View tab again, I loose my dataset that was there before I started clicking the tabs. It prompts for the parameters again.
Is that by design? I find this a nuisance to enter the parameter again and run the report just because I navigated to a different tabs.
Any suggestions to alter this behavior to make the data sticky in the report?

Error In Reporting Services Configuration Manager

I've got an error when I want to initialize the Report Server by means of RS Configuration Manager.
All points are check in green except "Encryption Keys" that is in "Optionnal configuration" and "Initialization" that is in "Not Configured".
When I click on "Initialization" an error occured :
The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. (rsReportServerDatabaseUnavailable)
When I want to browse the report this error occured:

Jan 11, 2008I am attempting to set up SQL 2005 reporting on my local system. When I get to the "Initialization" step I get the following error:

Reporting Services Report Manager Blank

I'm getting a blank Report Manager Page or a recurring username popup for users from another domain added to Reporting Services. Adding the users to the Local Administrators group on the Reporting Services server solves the problem but for security reasons this obviously is not ideal.
I've tried adding a Global Group from the other domain to a local group on the RS server and adding the local group to RS as a role.
I've tried adding the Global Group from the other domain as a role.
I've tried adding individual users from the other domain to RS
I've tried adding the Domain Users group from the other domain to the Local Users Group on the RS Server.
What am I missing? It should be as simple as "click, click, add group and like magic, it works"

May 6, 2015I came across a SQL 2000 instance with a report server database on it - looking at the execution log storage I can see that its still being used and running the following query tells me that the connections are coming from the same server: SELECT hostname, * FROM sysprocesses WHERE dbid = DB_ID ('ReportServer') but I cant find the SSRS instance in the services -Did it work differently with SQL 2000? How can I find the report manager URL?

Reporting Services :: Last Run Date Blank In Report Manager
Jan 6, 2011Since migrating Reporting Services from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008, the Last Run date, visible on the Details view of reports in a folder under Report Manager, has been blank. I would hope that this is supposed to be populated and equivalent to the "When Run" date visible in the 2005 version of Report Manager. Any setting that needs to be configured in order for this to show, or if this has been reported as a bug?
