SQL 2005 Reporting Services SP2 Integration With MOSS 2007 SSL Error
Feb 27, 2007
Hi,
I have just installed RS and SP2 on a server running a MOSS 2007 (with SSL using an internal certificate) and configured RS to work on Sharepoint Integrated Mode. Then I went to Sharepoint to configure RS options, but when I tried to set up the Set Servers Defaults I receive the following error:
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. --> Server was unable to process request. ---> The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. ---> The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.
Also, when I try to deploy a report from SQL BI Development Studio to Sharepoint, I receive the error:
A connection could not be made to the report server https://myserver.mycompany.com.br/Reports/Site. (Microsoft Report Designer)
Server was unable to process request. ---> The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. ---> The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure. (System.Web.Services)
Can anyone help me?

Hi all!
I am experiencing a problem integrating Reporting Services in MOSS 2007.
I tell you:
When i am in Reporting Services -> Aplications Administration, i click to set the default server settings and this error appears (it's in spanish, i try to translate below)
Unexpected error while conecting to the report server. Check that the server is online and configured for the integrated Sharepoint mode. --> Server can precess the request ---> The client found the content response type 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.
I have watched into the report server, and it appears as integrated in Sharepoint.
If someone knows how to fix this, it would be very helpful.
Thanks all.

Hello Everyone,
I have been banging my head against the wall with trying to integrate SharePoint 2007 and SQL Reporting Services. I have been following these 2 websites down to the letter in trying to configure everything:
1. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326356.aspx <---Microsoft's Steps
2. http://blogs.msdn.com/sharepoint/archive/2007/02/19/microsoft-sql-server-2005-sp2-reporting-services-integration-with- wss-3-0-and-moss-2007.aspx <---SharePoint Blog Group
Basically my setup is as follows:
Server 1 = SharePoint 2007
Server 2 = SQL Server Reporting Services SP2 / SharePoint 2007 services
Server 3 = Database
Server1 is setup and running SharePoint 2007 fine with no problems. It was installed under the complete option with its own server farm. Then with the Server2, SharePoint 2007 is installed again, also under the complete complete option, and configured to join Server1's server farm. In this way, Server2 is able to supply Server1 with services and it has been said that if you are using 2 different servers, one for SharePoint and one for Reporting Services, you need to have an instance of SharePoint on the reporting services box. With a SharePoint "front-end" the reporting-services now has a way to also join Server1s farm.
This is where the headache begins....the SharePoint install is successful on Server2 and the services are started as evident through the Central Administration page. The next task is to install SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and then the SQL Server 2005 SP2 patch.
After installing SQL Server and the SP2 patch, you go into the SQL Reporting Services Configuration Manager and setup the Report Server, Database, and SharePoint integration. I configure everything to run under the "DefaultAppPool" under IIS, and I get green accepted checkboxes on everything.
Finally, the last step is to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Technologies on Server1. This add-in actually allows the connection between SharePoint on Server1 to the Reporting Services on Server2. The install is successful and the extra options for reporting pop up under Central Administration page. When configuring the final connection under the Central Admin I referred to the following Microsoft Page:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326213.aspx
For the "manage integration settings", I set the report server to Server2 and use Windows Authentication. Then for the "grant database access" I use Server2 and login with my credentials...
PROBLEM: Then for the final step of setting the server defaults, I click on the link and get the following error:
"An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. "
I have googled and tried installing/uninstalling several times, but it seems that I keep getting hung up here. When trying to access reports on the ReportServer, the same error message comes up.
If anyone is familiar with integration between SharePoint and SQL Reporting Services, and may have any ideas/comments/advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance! =)

Hi,
We are reporting from a custom list in MOSS 2007 using SSRS. When we try to report on a set of data from the list we receive 1;# in front of the returned data in SQL. How do i get rid of this or stop it from showing?
Thanks in advance.

I've been running around in circles all afternoon trying to create one simple report using Reporting Services (with latest SP2 installed) and SharePoint 2007. To the best of my knowledge, I have everything configured correctly:
When I access http://<server>/ReportServer, I see the server name of my SharePoint site.
When I click on the name of my SharePoint site, it shows me the directory structure I have created within my SharePoint Site
When I drill down in the directory, I can ultimately see the forms I created in my forms library (created via InfoPath 2007).
The next step is to create one simple report from the data in one of these forms libraries and a report on all the items within a form library. I'm stuck at the first step of creating a report, namely what to enter as the Data Source and the connection string. With a SQL database this isn't an issue.
How does one create a data source that will allow reporting over SharePoint content with the setup described above? And, if you have information that is found in the SQL Books Online, please be kind and post links so others know where to find this information.

Hi,
I am working on sharepoint 2007 integration with reporting service 2005. There are few facts which i am trying to understand and need some clarifications. Please provide your comments
1) While configuring "Database setup" in Repoting Service Configuring Manager" i found two modes 1) Native and 2) SharePoint Integration. When creating a report server database if we check "Create the report server database in Sharepoint Integration Mode" then it set the mode to "SharePoint Integration Mode". There is no option of switching the same database to native mode. So i have to create another database in "Native Mode". (IS THIS CORRECT. DO WE NEED TO CREATE TWO REPORT SERVER DATABASE SEPERATE FOR SHAREPOINT INTEGRATION AND NATIVE)
2) I am using the new report viewer web part in sharepoint 2007. When i am in sharepoint integration mode i can create datasource, report model and with report builder i can create rdl file. On selecing any RDL file in doument library and it gets displayed in Report Viewer Web Part. When i switch to Native mode i want to configure the web part to use the report created with SQL Server Bussiness Intelligence Dev Studio and deployed on http://localhost:808/ReportServer. (IS THERE ANY WAY SO THAT I CAN EXPORT AND IMPORT ALL .RDL FILE FROM http://localhost:808/ReportServer to http://localhost/ReportServer)
I AM NOT ABLE TO CONFIGURE WEB PART WHEN I AM IN NATIVE MODE i.e giving path of .RDL in report textbox throw a error saying "Item not found" i tried all combination. THIS can be related to datasource not reading in .RDL file in native mode while confuring report viewer web part.
http://localhost:808/ReportServer (Report Server)
http://localhost/ReportServer (SharePoint Mode) (Default Top Level Site)
3) LAST : I want to create a .RDL file report from the data in sharepoint, say lists or news etc. So when creating a RDL file how can i connect to sharepoint database. I read some where that in previous release they used to DATA EXTENSIONS and get the data from list in sharepoint with something like http://<servername>/<sitename>/List=Announcement when creating RDL file. Is the alternative in new release to create the report based on sharpoint list data.
Thanks and i would really appreciate your help

hello good afternoon, I am having this issue, I need to move reporting services from one server to another, but I need that credentials, roles and reports stay the same. But as the reporting services is integrated with sharepoint, dont know if I can move both at the same or it has to be done one at a time. this is just data migration, but still I will like to Know how it can be done having the same structure with the roles and credentials. or it is prefered to do a ghost?? but the issue will be that we have the reporting services in one place and the data in another... don´t know how this will affect. thanks in advanced for the help.

I also posted in the SharePoint forum, but maybe someone here can shed some light on this frustrating issue:
We have Reporting Services integrated with our MOSS environment. Several reports were set up for autmatic delivery via subscription. This was pre SP1 times and the reports ran just fine (they are not data driven reports). Whether it is related or not I don't know, but two weeks ago we upgraded to SP1 without any problems. Shortly after that, our users stopped getting their reports via email. When I go to the reports and click on "Manage Subscriptions", the history of subscriptions shows that the report ran, but then there is an error message under last results saying
"The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)"
I tried recreating reports, setting up new data connections, re-subscribing... nothing works. Checked SQL server logs - they seem to be OK; checked SharePoint logs - they show error with few minutes off the scheduled report, so I don't know if this is related, but here it is nevertheless:
"Unexpected query execution failure, error code 282. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below. "The 'proc_GetTpWebMetaDataAndListMetaData' procedure attempted to return a status of NULL, which is not allowed. A status of 0 will be returned instead." Query text (if available): "{?=call proc_GetTpWebMetaDataAndListMetaData(?,'1F57DB6C-AF94-4557-866D-4214D9EC8313',?,NULL,1,?,?,6187)}" "
Any ideas what went wrong or how to fix this? Does this have anything to do with .Net service packs that we installed about the same time as SP1 implementation?
Thank you in advance for any ideas!!

Is anyone attempting or has anyone successfully deployed MOSS2007 with a SQL 2005 Database Mirror on the backend? We are doing it in our lab with the automatic failover (principal, mirror & witness) and the SQL portion works great. The only issue is we have is that we have to manually switch MOSS over (via Sharepoint 3.0 Central Admin or stsadm) to the new content database on the other server. Thank you
We have reviewed the White Paper that Microsoft offered with no help to our issue.

Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help me save the few remaining hairs on my head? I am trying to deploy reports created in SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio to SharePoint running SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services in SharePoint integrated mode. Whenever I try to deploy a report, the Reporting Services Login window pops up no matter which user/password I provide it won't accept any. I have the Reporting Services database set up to use Windows credentials and my Domain adminstrator account so I presume that this is user that I should be providing when prompted when deploying.
Can anyone give me any clues?
Thanks,
Michael

Source Error:
The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:
1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:
<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>
or:
2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:
<configuration>
<system.web>
<compilation debug="true"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.
Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

I have a masterpage that has no doctype, because I want to have a table with some fixed height TDs and some variable height TDs (this kind of table only seems to be possible in quirks mode, with no doctype). My problem is the SSRS web part, it has the web part title, but the actual report is not there! as soon as i put in the doctype, it renders normally.
Is there any way to have a reporting services web part render a report without a doctype?

I tried to deploy reports from VS 2005 on Dev to Prod (different domain, in WSS integration mode) , but VS keeps showing the login window ...
I set up TargetDataSourceFolder, TargetReportFolder and TargetServerURL in VS 2005 on my Dev machine as mentioned in MSDN article "Deploying Reports, Models, and Shared Data Sources to a SharePoint Site" and tried to deploy reports to Prod machine. But VS 2005 keeps showing "Report Services Login" window to me, even when I used Administrator account of that Prod machine.
The WSS log file on the Prod machine shows this error: "The file you are attempting to save or retrieve has been blocked from this Web site by the server administrators."
Any ideas?

I assume that something is wrong with my virtual server set up. I have the Default Web Site stopped and SharePoint (80) running and set Reports and ReportServer using the Report Configuration to SharePoint (80).
I can get to http://localhost/ReportServer but I get this error when running a report from there:
Reporting Services Error
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help
The type Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.Analytics.UI.ReportViewerMessages, Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c does not implement IReportViewerMessages or could not be found
Has anyone set these up on the same server? Is there a document around on how to set this up?
Thanks
Kevin

Greetings,
I am using Visual Studio 2005 SP1, SQL Server Developers Edition, Both installed recently and updated completely on an XP SP2 workstation (again all updates installed, the necessary ones at least) The issue I am having is when I try to load a solution for Integration services an error message box appears with the following:
An error prevented the view from loading. (Microsoft Visual Studio)
===================================
The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E) (System.Windows.Forms)
This issue was of course occurring before the reinstall of both Visual Studio and SQL Server DE. The issue also extends to creating new projects, in which I am not able to...so the frustration is a little high at the moment, any help would be great...

Hi all,
We're currently having a great deal of difficulty getting our MOSS/SSRS integration configured. In short, we're getting "A connection to the computer cannot be established." message in the Grant Database Access page of the Reporting Services Integration settings.
A few more points:
We have two servers:
Server A: Win2K3 EE SP2, MOSS 2007, SSRS Integration Components
Server B: Win2K3 EE SP2, SQL Server 2005 SP2, MOSS database, SSRS, WSS 3.0, SSRS Integration Components
A user in IE on Server A can successfully browse to the ReportServer virtual directory on Server B.
Another "test" MOSS server has been configured separately and successfully against Server B, so it seems like there's something amiss with Server A. The report server configuation tool shows all green. There are no entries in the App or System log that appear related to this issue. We've looked at KB's 871179 and 896861; no luck there.
We've tried both Windows Authentication and Trusted Connection with a number of different accounts, including a domain admin. No luck.
The error is really irritating, considering it gives no additional information, logging, or context.
Can anyone shed some additional light here?
Thanks,
Dave

I am trying to import Access reports using Visual Studio 2005 and Access 2007. SQL Server 2005 with Reporting Services is also installed. I select Reports in the Solution Explorer and then Import Reports... Microsoft Access and browse to my Access database. After I select the database I see it open briefly as if it is trying to import the reports but then Access quickly closes and a error pops up: "You already have the database open." I have checked and double checked and the database is not open. I have even tried several different databases and the same errror occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I'm working with Vista + IIS7 + SQL Server 2005 SP2 (trial version entreprise) . When I try to access on this url : http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx, I have the error : "The reports server is not responding. Make sure it is operational and accessible from that computer.", and when I try to access on the other url : http://localhost/ReportServer/, the error is : "Erreur HTTP 500.0 - Internal Server Error". Virtuals Folders "Reports" and "ReportServer" have been correctly created in IIS7 and services of MSSQLSERVER have been correctly launched.
Do you have any idea?
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
I've installed SQL 2005 on a Windows 2003 R2 Server, I also installed another Web Server (Another Windows 2003 R2 Server) on a different machine.
I've installed the Reporting Services on the Web Server.
When I am trying to configure the report server, I successfully created the Virtual Directories, but when trying to do the "Database Setup" step, I am getting an error on the "Create a Grants Rights Script", with this message:
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo)
at System.Management.ManagementScope.InitializeGuts(Object o)
at System.Management.ManagementScope.Initialize()
at System.Management.ManagementObjectSearcher.Initialize()
at System.Management.ManagementObjectSearcher.Get()

at ReportServicesConfigUI.Panels.DatabaseSetupPanel.IsLocalDbServer(String dbServer)
at ReportServicesConfigUI.Panels.DatabaseSetupPanel.SetDatabaseConnectionTask(String connectionString, String server, String database, ConfigurationCredentialsType credsType, String account, String password, Boolean upgrade, String dbVersion)
As a result, I cannot run the reports nor get to the folder.aspx page on the manager side of the application.
I am getting this HTML msg:
The report server installation is not initialized. (rsReportServerNotActivated) (rsRPCError) Get Online Help
When installing the Reporing Server on the SQL Server machine, it works with no problems, and I am doing everything the same.
Would appreciate your help, I've been working on this for few days with no luck.
Thank you!
Yaniv.

I recently changed my datasource in our Reporting Service Model. We changed to a quicker SQL server with disk capacity. I am able to run new reports but when I try to run old ones that were on the old datasource, I get an error. The datasource has been changed to point to the new server (datasource).
The error is: An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Semantic query compilation failed: e EmptySemanticQuery The SemanticQuery does not contain any Groupings or MeasureGroups. SemanticQuery must contain at least one of these elements. (SemanticQuery ''). (rsSemanticQueryEngineError)
I will appreciate any help.

Please help!
I have an asp.net 2.0 web app that integrates with reporting services. Since installing sql server 2005 sp2 I get the following error when trying to access reports:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
This data source is configured to use Windows integrated security. Windows integrated security is either disabled for this report server or your report server is using Trusted Account mode. (rsWindowsIntegratedSecurityDisabled)
I've checked the directory security for the report server website in IIS and integrated windows authentication is checked.
I can't understand what has caused the problem, before sp2 the reports were working fine.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Andy
