Hi,
I have two 2003 servers which are load balanced - not for high demand but for resiliance. The application that is being run on both servers shares data on a NAS raid 5 device.
Can I install SQL Express on each of these servers and have them share the databases on the NAS device?
Help please anybody?

Oct 9, 2007Currently we have a single SQL server. It went down and the higher ups were none to happy. Lots of money lost, down time, unhappy customers....the whole nine yards. They want to throw all sorts of money at the problem and want a solution that is high availability and provides load balancing. I think I came up with a solution.
3x Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition servers running SQL 2005 Standard in a cluster all connected to a SAN.
I'm guessing I need to set up Network Load Balancing in order to load balance the SQL database. What we would love to have happen is if one of the servers goes down, everything else just picks up. That coupled with our database that is increasing in size and transactions gets load balanced.
Am I going down the right path? Something else I should look at? Or that I am missing?

Integration Services :: SSIS Balanced Data Distributor Control Not Showing In VS
Oct 25, 2015I installed the Feature Pack Balanced Data Distributor control on my PC to use with SQL Server 2014 64 bit. I have used the control with SQL Server 2014 and SSDT so I was familiar with the process. Unfortunately, I cannot get the control to appear in the toolbox. No error messages appear, BDD just doesn't appear in the toolbox. I have tried un-installing, reinstalling, installing SQL Server 2014 SP1, installing again, rebooting a number and nothing works. The control just does not appear in the toolbox. It doesn't not appear when I go to choose items either. What does it take to get BBD to appear in the SSIS Toolbox for VS?

Integration Services :: SSIS Balanced Data Distributor Not Visible In Visual Studio 2013
Oct 28, 2015I've used the Balanced Data Distributor with Visual Studio 2010 and SQL Server 2012 successfully. I've now installed BIDS 2013 and I'm trying to get the Balanced Data Distributor to appear again in the SSIS Toolbox.
I've installed the x86 and x64 version and it won't appear. I've tried the new version which is supposed to have a fix for some SQL Server 2008 issues but I get the message:
The installation is not successful. Check the following prerequisites: 1. Either Integration Services or BIDS has to be installed. 2. The version of these components has to be either SQL Server 2008 SP2 (or future SPs) or SQL Server 2008 R2 (or future SPs).
That seems this version only works for SQL Server 2008.

I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified.
Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases
Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database

Since this happened users that are trying to print a reporting services report is getting the error "Unable to load client print control". We are using reporting services 2012, but the application is using the 8 version of the viewer. The reporting services server did not change only the application server. The code for the application did not change.

Sep 5, 2013I have a report designed in RB3 that uses a data source from a SQL database that is on the report server. I want to add data to the report from an access database an a network drive.
I can add the second data source and create a data set to add data to the report. The dataset query returns data from the Access database but when I run the report I get the following error.
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'Feasibility'. (rsError OpeningConnection)
Also when I test the connection to the Access data base I get error ERROR (IM002) (Microsoft)(ODBC Driver Manger) Data source name not found and no default driver specified.
I noticed that Report Builder is connecting to the report server. If I disconnect from the report server I can a can connect to the Access data base but not the SQL database.
How can I get the report to run against both data sources?

I'm still quite a beginner with the Report Designer and now I have faced a problem. My goal is to make a reports refresh each time it is loaded. I know that this can be done by using rs:clearsession = true-method but in order this to work, it should be added to each link. There are a lots of links in the reports we are using and therefore it would be more practical to find another way to refresh the report on page load. Is there any way to do this with some kind of code attached to each report? I'm using Visual Studio 2003 and my Reporting services 2000.

Sep 21, 2015I have created a custom library(CodeLibrary) which internally references the dlls Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client and Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client.
I added this custom Dll codelibrary.dll to my SSRS report. and the expression of one of the field as
=codelibrary.codefunction.GetValue(1000)
codefunction is the class and GetValue is the method.
When I preview the report, I get the error "Error while loading code module:
'CodeLibrary,Version=1.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=null'. Could not load file or assembly 'CodeLibrary,Version1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
I am using VS2013, I have placed the custom library DLL in the path

I have tested the custom library with a WPF application and it works fine.

Reporting Services :: RSS Script To Deploy A Single (or Many) Reports To Multiple Sharepoint Report Servers
Sep 8, 2015So I get the basics, have a script that can deploy a single report to a single server. I have other simple scripts that work as well. Now I want a script that can deploy a single report to multiple Sharepoint servers. I have about 30. I know we are probably doing this wrong, as in, we shouldn't be deploying the same report to 30 sites, as they are all all technically all on the same server however they are all independent site collections so as far as I know there is no way to deploy them to a central location and then link to them from each site.
So I tried to copy elements of my single report deploy script and duplicate the Sub Main() to Sub Main1() and Sub Main2() with multiple "ParentPath1" dims, yes I know I'm stupid. That obviously didn't work. So looking at some other scripts including my own subscription updater and I'm sure I need to do some kind of "For Each item in X" but where to start. The other lists I've seen all come from rs.Something. My list is just 30 variables in the script, how can I say for each site in this list, Publish this report?
Here's the simple script that works fine. I just don't know how to modify it to make it deploy this to multiple sites. After I figure that out, I was going to accept the challenge of deploying multiple reports to multiple sites in a single script...

I have just install SQL 2005 SP2 and trying to get Window SharePoint Services V3 integrated with SQL 2005 SP2 reporting services.
In SharePoint Central Administration, I select the Reporting Services Integration page and have setup the Report Server Web Service URL and Authentication Mode. I then goto Grant database access, specify the SQL server name, get promted for a username and password that has access SQL Reportserver and get the following error "The group name could not be found"
Does anyone have any ideas?

i have a small problem with the data sources in the reporting services, maybe you can clarify the situation... I have a MS CRM 3 solution with the reporting services 2005 installed. From an other vendor we have a arcplan solution on the 2000 analysis services. I would like to get access from the 2005 reporting services to the 2000 cube. Is this possible? Ive read that the SSMS cant connect to the 2000 cubes. Can i connect from the reporting services??

Visual Studio 2005 - Reporting Services 2005 Access Import Error
Oct 22, 2007I am trying to import Access reports using Visual Studio 2005 and Access 2007. SQL Server 2005 with Reporting Services is also installed. I select Reports in the Solution Explorer and then Import Reports... Microsoft Access and browse to my Access database. After I select the database I see it open briefly as if it is trying to import the reports but then Access quickly closes and a error pops up: "You already have the database open." I have checked and double checked and the database is not open. I have even tried several different databases and the same errror occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to make some reports using the sql 2005 reporting services addin for Visual Web Developer Express 2005. I download the add-in here. So far it installed "successfully". The problem i have is when i try to add a datasource to the report at "Report > Data Sources... " it gives me an error saying: "The system cannot find the file specified."
Another Error it gives is that when I try to drag a DataSet field from the Website Data Sources toolbox tab the visual web developer crashes :/.
An observation that I don't know if this is ok is when I create a new Data Source it creates an App_Code folder inside where my report is /Reports/ and there it saves the DataSet. Just an observation...

2. Choose Type : Oracle and connection tested OK
3. { call Test_Package.Test_Procedure(?) } is it wrong... how to write???
There is an error in the query. ORA-00911: invalid character
Also make sure that you use the text-based generic query designer (2 panes !) instead of the visual query designer (4 panes) - you can switch between them through an icon on the toolbar in the data view of report designer.

Reporting Services From WebBrowser Control - Print = Unable To Load Client Print Control
Mar 20, 2007UPDATE #2: When it said "Do you want to install Microsoft SQL Server" I said "yes" and that caused it to work. I exited and re-ran and now the print runs w/o the "install SQL Server" (If the prompt had said "Do you want to install the print dialog" we wouldn't be having this discussion...)
UPDATE: After posting this i discovered that the same thing occurs when attempting to print the report direct from IE6: First a dialog pops up "Do you want to install this software?" Name: Microsoft SQL Server. When I click "Don't Install" I get the dialog "unable to load client print control." Since this happens direct from IE6 I suspect it's browser settings. I'll resume tomorrow and post a followup.
My WinForm C# app integrates Reporting Services by calling them from WebBrowser controls. The problem is attempts to print cause a dialog: "unable to load client print control."
I've read prior posts that say "enable Active-X in your browser" - I don't know how to do that from a WebBrowser control.
Any ideas how to support Reporting Services "Print" from within a WebBrowser control?

New To Reporting Services 2005
Jan 22, 2008I'm using Report Builder to create a new report. The problem I'm having is that once I choose a Field from an Entity in the Entities list I can only choose Fields from that Entity. For example, I have two Entities, one called Customers and the other called Delivery. Within the Customer Entity I have several Fields that I want to add to my report, say First Name and Last Name. From the Delivery Entity I have a Status Field which I'd like to include but because I have no way to get back to my Entities list, without removing the Fields from my Report, I can't include that Field.
If I remove the Fields from my report, the Entities list then populates with both the Customers and Delivery Entities, THEN I can choose my Delivery Entity and select the Status Field. But I can't get back to the Customer Entity. I keep going back and forth.
I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong, or if there is a more efficient manner to accomplish what I'm trying to do.

SQL Reporting Services 2005 With CLR

I am trying to use reporting services 2005 with a VB SQL stored procedure that i created in visual studio using CLR.
The stored procedure was created successfuly in SQL server but while linking the report to the stored procedure, i am receiving the following message

I have a sql server 2000 database and sql server reporting services 2000 installed on it i want to install 2005 sql reporting services on sql server 2000 Is Sql server reporting services 2005 works fine with sql server 2000 and what are the settings that i have to perform.
Linking SQL 2005 Servers To SQL 2000 Servers Problems
Sep 27, 2007I am in the middle of a major migraton project, moving from x86 SQL 2000 to IA64 SQL 2005. I have a business need to link to several legacy servers. I have a number of problems I am trying to solve.
1) Linking a Kerberos server to a non-Kerberos server.
2) Linking x64 or IA64 servers to x86 servers.
3) Linking SQL 2005 to SQL 2000.
Two of the errors I am encountering are:

TCP Provider: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "SCDC250DB" returned message "Communication link failure".
(Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 10054)

The OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for the linked server "SCDC250DB" reported an error. Authentication failed.
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "SCDC250DB".
OLE DB provider "SQLCLI" for linked server "SCDC250DB" returned message "Invalid authorization specification".
(Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7399)
If someone has worked through these problems before, I would appreciate it if you could direct me to the relevant documentation to resolve these issues.

Reporting Problems W/ MS SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Step By Step To MS
Apr 26, 2007I am trying to learn Reporting Services using the title "MS SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Step by Step" by Stacia Misner and Hitachi Consulting, published in 2006. I am experiencing problems with some of the exercises. I got as far as Chapter 4 when I followed directions to create a SQL statement to define a query string for a dataset. Pg 80:
select * from vProductProfitability
where year = 2003 and
MonthNumberOfYear = 1
The view vProductProfitability does not exist in the tutorial database that came with the book, rs2005sbsDW. The result of this query is the basis for the entire chapter on developing basic reports and I'm being denied a learning opportunity because the view does not exist. In short, I'm stuck.
I have tried to find somewhere at Microsoft to place this question and get some answers so I can continue thru the tutorial. To no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions?
BTW, the solution that came in the CD is also wrong because the query noted above is also in the solution.
