I have multiple tables link together base on wo_No and prt_Mark fields and I get the following results.

What I would like is to combine the dwg_Seq into one record where they have the same wo_No and prt_Mark.

I now would like to have a SQL query which gives me the number of
unique object and reference combinations, like this:

d shouldn't be displayed, because it's equal to c. The problem is also that a sequence of object references is
also important. So, for instance, object a shouldn't be equal to object b. The solution should also work is MS SQL and Mysql.
Any ideas how can I do this?

I've tried something like this but since I'm referencing trans_type I get a message that trans_type must be in Group by. doing that give me multiple records.

Following is a stored procedure that currently runs on the system (compacted version). I need to combine this data with data from another Table .. tblAdjustments. The schema for this table is fairly close to tblShipmentDet.
tblShipmentHdr --> tblShipmentDet (Key = ShipmentID)
tblAdjustments --> standalone
Result: combine tblShipmentHdr + attached tblShipmentDet records with
tblAdjustments records.

I'm working on a data migration that requires combining rows/values from one table to update rows in another table, and I can't figure out if I need to do a nested FOREACH or something else. Here's the example.
I have a table called Health that has a unique child record, key is childID.
I have another table called Concerns that has multiple records for each child. The Concerns table structure has several Boolean fields that need to capture and retain a true value, no matter what the value is in the next record, i.e. once a field is true, it's always true. Then those values need to update the child record in the Health table.
So if the Concerns table has the following records for a child:
ChildID, DentalConcern, VisionConcern, HearingConcern.
1, True, False, False
1, False, True, False
1, False, False, False
The final values I need to update the Health table are:
1, True, True, False.
And of course, my recordset of Concerns has records for many children.
O.K., that's the background. I have Foreach Loop container set up to enumerate through the ADO recordset of the Concerns table. I have recordset variables set up for childID and each of the boolean Concerns fields. My thought was then to do a nested Foreach Loop container on the childID variable, with a Script Task to read in the recordset variables, then collect the True/False values in my readwrite variables I set up to "collect" the values of each record.
I think then I can compare the incoming recordset childID with the readwrite childID variable to see if it's changed, and if it has then I want to do the SQL update to the Health table. I'm stuck trying to figure out where to put my Execute SQL task to update the child record when I'm finished with one child. in the the Script Task. If it's in the nested Foreach, won't it execute the SQL for every record? Same question on the outer Foreach that's looping through the entire ADO recordset.
So should I put the Update sql statement in the Script Task instead of a separate Execute SQL Task?
Or is there a totally different way I need to look at looping through the entire recordset but doing processing on a subset based on the childID value?

The CUSTOMERS table holds the record date span into which the FLAGS table records have to "fit". writing the query for the following, I need to collapse the continuity. If the termdate for an ID is one day less than the effdate of the next id (for the same ID) i need to collapse the records. See below example .....how should i write the query which will give me the desired output. i.e., get min(effdate) and max(termdate) if termdate is one day less than the effdate of next record.

I've got an application I've written that should be able to (using a table) insert, update or delete records in SQL Server 2005. It can insert and update fine but it cannot delete any records. I'm totally stumped for how to figure out what's going on. I can remote on to the Windows 2003 Enterprise Server without any trouble so I should be able to read any log files or open the SQL Managemenent tools. How do I figure out what the issue is? It's a very strange thing and I'm stumped.

I'm trying to call the newest addition to a SQL database into a webpage, in this case, it'll be 'newest user', one result only. I've done several other data retrival sections using a datatable, but the guy who was helping me though it is unavailable at the moment and I get the feeling I've jumped into the deepend slightly.
Could anyone give me an example of how retrieving the First N Records from SQL should look in VS? Does it need to be in a data table or can it go in a label?

I have created a database and used visual basic 2005.net2.0 to build the application. I used the data wizard. it created datatables and then I bound it to the contols on the form. The program is published to the server and each instance loads from the server and executes. When it stops, the instance is destructed from the host pc. The pc's are large ram and very small hard drive. These were the specs of the job. now when each pc loads an instance of the program, they can all load and edit the same exact record. I tried to bust it and I got on the same record and changed first name on one and last name on the other. the second one overwrote the first name edit. All of the data handling is done inside of the dataset designer and it does not allow edits. ( actually you can edit, but the next time you save it, or run it, it will rewrite what you added and it will be gone.) is there anything I can add to the form vb to tell it to lock the current record?

I have an application which stores records on a local SQL Express and I need to move the records to a SQL 2000 database. I have the SQL 2000 server linked in the Express Management Console (under Linked Servers). Hi!I am able to add records to my SQL 2005 database using bound forms in myAccess application, but if I try to edit any records (not only the newrecords I create) using the same bound forms, I receive a write conflict.For the record, I am currently the only user of this application and my SQLServer database has only one userID. I used this userID to create all ofthe objects in the database and to connect to the database from Access. Thedata sources for the bound forms are linked tables, the record source typeis set to "Dynaset" and the record locks are set to "No Locks". "Opendatabases using record-level locking" is checked.The write error says that another user has changed the current record sinceit was opened (since I'm currently the only user this isn't possible) andasks me to copy my changes to the clipboard or drop the changes.Can anyone suggest what might be causing this? View 1 Replies View Relatedim having an issue with sql server 2005 express on a test box. in recent testing, ive encountered errors with the database that i havent encountered before. im trying to use an app to add records to some tables in a database, 1 record at a time. but in doing so i get this
"The transaction log for database 'ScanOrder2' is full. To find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases"
with every insert of a record.
this process was working fine 2 days ago and i cant find anything
thats been changed.
- i deleted the database and tried restoring it from a backup that is
known to work, but still has the issue
- the recovery model is set to simple. every night a batch script is
run to truncate the log file in case there is a transaction that uses
a lot of records
- i can insert and delete records manually with no problems (ie going
in through SSMSE and highlighting a row and deleting it or adding
random data) but i still cant add it through the app
- the log file is set to autogrow unrestricted at 10 megs at a time.
- i even tried setting the log file to 500 megs starting size, and
still couldnt even insert 1 record
- when i check the log_reuse_wait_desc, it says NOTHING, when not
running and while running.
is there any other setting i could be missing that might attribute to
this?
heres my problem, since I migrated to SQL-Server 2005, I was able to use the Row_Number() Over Method to make my Custom Paging Stored Procedure better. But theres onte thing that is still bothering me, and its the fact the Im still using and old and classic Count instruction to find my total of Rows, which slow down a little my Stored Procedure. What I want to know is: Is there a way to use something more efficiant to count theBig Total of Rows without using the Count instruction??? heres my stored procedure:

The green part is the problem, the fields morerecords is the one Im using to count all my records, but its a waste of performance to use that in a custom paging method (since it will check every records, normally, theres a ton of condition with a lot of inner join, but I simplified things in my exemple)...I hope I was clear enough in my explication, and that someone will be able to help me. Hi,Currently, I am developing an application for my client. The issue is that the client has the office and warehouse which are in different locations. He wants the application run and updated all the data in to a database (called warehouse database). Every month, all records in warehouse database will be synchronized to another database which is identical with the warehouse database but it is run in his laptop at the office. Since networking is not an option, I have to create two identical database like this. Does any one know what is the good solution to this? I have created the procedure in sql server 2005 for retriving email addresses from table based on date_expiry and concatinating all email addresses in to @tolist as shown below
Declare @tolist varchar(8000)
set @tolist = ''SELECT @tolist = @tolist + ';' + COALESCE(email, '')
FROM awc_register
WHERE DATEDIFF(day, date_expiry, GETDATE())='3'print @tolist
set @tolist = substring(@tolist, 2, len(@tolist))
and I passed this @tolist to another procedure which should send mails for email addresses present in @tolist variable.
Problem is I need to send the mail to each email address separatley.( not bulkly)

How can I copy a table from my sql server 2000 db to my sql server 2005 express edition?
I have a project in VS.NET 2005 and I have a db in App_Data folder. However, when I look into that folder, there is nothing visible. I now need to copy a table from my existing sql server 2000 to my db located in my project's App_Data folder.
Any help would be appreciated..
