Both has SQL server 2005 running and has visual studio 2005
Currently about 25 SSIS packages are executed from the development server transferring data on Live server TWD1...these ETL process is called from development server but executed on live server.
Now the problem is when i call these packages from the shared folder from live server it crashes.....i need to changes something to shift the whole package to the live server..and execute on live server itself instead of recreating the whole 25 process from scratch.....also i use optimize for many tables ..and run in a single trancastion....so how can i see the mappings of source and destination tables.
Please let me know the process how i can achieve this.

Sep 9, 2015I have a package that need to copy a file from a remote server using path like ipaddresssharedfolder..now, inside of Microsoft data tools, everything runs fine, because y access to those folders on the windows sessions and enter my credentials. however how to I set up the package to use my credentials on the remote server?
Without it, I got error Executed as user: NT ServiceSQLAgent$RETAIL_PRO.and this user does not exists on remote server. so got access denied. error.

I haven't been able to find a post on doing this. Is there a way in WQL to check for a new folder being added instead of a new file? I've used SQL for years, but am new to SSIS.

Ive tried searching but nothing came up specific to my problem.
I currently have all the reports separated into separate folders, such as Finance, HR etc, and the datasources in a datasources folder at the root level. My problem is that when i upload reports into their appropriate folder, the shared datasource information gets deleted, and i need to re-map it everytime.
Is there anyway to have the specific reports point to specific shared datasource folders on the report server when i upload them?

Not All The Reports Are Delivered To The Shared Folder

Hi All,
I'm delivering some reports through data driven to a shared folder in another computer in my network. In report manager, under status, it shows the following message.
Processing: 10 processed of 12 total; 0 errors.
When I chek in the folder, I can see sometimes only 6 reports. I rescheduled and run it again. Then I could see only 10 out of 12 reports.
I opened the Management Studio and tried to refreshed the report subscription under subscription. Then I got the following error message.

I subsricbe few reports by data driven file shared method. Each reports is supposed to be delivered to 5 different customers. But each customer can see only his/her data. So I use a paramter to generate 5 different reports for each customer. But once the five different reports are saved in the shared file folder, is there any method to delete old files? These reports are to be executed once a week

I'm trying to silently(quiet mode) install Sql Server 2005 and our application.I created a custom wrapper and included all the files and folders extracted from SQLEXPR.exe.
So when I execute this customized setup its throwing an error : Could not register Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server/90/Shared/msxmlsql.dll
If I ignore the above error its throwing similar errors for almost all the files under Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server/90/Shared folder.
kindly help me to resolve the issue.

SQL 2012 :: Compress Existing Backup File?
Jan 22, 2015I have a SQL 2012 enterprise server, and I'm using Commvault as my backups. So commvault can restore a .bak file to my server, but it cannot use sql compression on the file apparently. So what would be a 150GB .bak backup file is now 600GB. I have to manually upload these files to an auditing firm on an sftp server and the transfer times are now huge.
Is there a way to use something in sql to compress this already existing .bak file down?

May 6, 2015I am getting inconsistent results when BULK INSERTING data from a tab-delimited text file. As part of my testing, I run the same code on the same file again and again, and I get different results every time! I get this on SQL 2005 and SQL 2012 R2.
We have an application that imports data from a spreadsheet. The sheet contains section headers with account numbers and detail rows with transactions by date:

My Import program saves this spreadsheet at tab-delimited text, then I use BULK INSERT to bring the data into a generic table full of varchar(255) fields. There are about 90,000 rows in each day's data; after the BULK INSERT about half of them are removed for various reasons.
Next I add a RowID column to the table with the IDENTITY (1,1) property. This gives my raw data unique row numbers.
I then run a routine that converts and copies those records into another holding table that's a copy of the final destination table. That routine parses though the data, assigning the account number in the section header to each detail row. It ends up looking like this:
AAAA.1234 1/1/2015 $150 First Purchase
AAAA.1234 1/3/2015 $24.233 Second Purchase
BBBB.5678 1/1/2015 $350 Third Purchase
BBBB.5678 1/3/2015 $24.233 Fourth Purchase
My technique: I use a cursor to get the starting RowID for each Account Number: I then use the upper and lower RowIDs to do an INSERT into the final table. The query looks like this:

WHERE RowHeader LIKE '____.____%'

But every time I run the routine, I get different numbers!
Needless to say, my results are not accurate. I get inconsistent results EVERY TIME. Here is my code, with table, field and account names changed for business confidentiality.

I have to find the latest file in a folder and export data to a table in sql server.
The code should be something that has to be incorporated into a t-sql stored procedure.
The file name would for example abc_defYYYYMMDD.xls.
would i be able to find the latest file in the folder using the the datestamp (YYYYMMDD) in the filename.
Please note i would have files in other format and names with datestamp attached to it, so the code has to pick specific file for which the file name starts with 'abc_def'
and export data to a table.
Any help would be highly appreciated

Oct 1, 2015The objective is to identify orders where an order fee has been applied incorrectly. I have multiple orders per customer, my table contains an orderID and a customerID. Currently if the customer places additional orders before the previous orders have been closed/cancelled, then additional fees are being applied.
Let's say I'm comparing order #1 to order #2. I need to identify these rows where the following is true:-
The CustID is the same.
Order #2 has a more recent order date.
Order #2 has a FeeDate Before the CancelledDate of Order #1 (or Order #1 has no cancellation date).
So in the table the orderID:2835692 of CustID: 24643 has a valid order fee. But all the subsequently placed orders have fees which were applied before the first order was cancelled and so I want to update the FeeInvalid column with a 'Y'. The first fee will always be valid.
I think I understand why the code I am trying doesn't achieve the result I want but I can't figure out how to write it correctly. Below is one example of code I've tried and also code to create the table and insert some test data.

Mar 16, 2015I am trying my first bulk update to an existing SWL table from a CSV text file,The text file naming is exacrtly the same as the SQL table, with the same attributes
The statements:

Hi i am getting a weekly transaction file which has two columns trans code and trans date to indicate whether the record is changed, added or modified . and the monthly master file contains blank in these two fields.
How do i update the row coming from the transaction file in the tables which contain the rows from the master file .
to better explain the example is

replacing the existing row in the table(updating the whole row)
i have 50 columns in my table and based on the two fields i should replace the rows exisiting in table and if ID doesnot match exist just add them as a new row.
what transformation should i use .... to replace all the columns which have matching ID in table to the current record from trans file and if there doesnt exist matching id just add them as new row.

Moving Csv File From One Folder To Another Folder
Mar 28, 2008I am having problem with moving a file from one folder to another folder. Here is the detailed scenario:
I want to move a input.csv file from shared input folder to shared archive folder. i am using the below code to do this.
declare @inpath varchar(100)
SET @inpath = 'move "\abcdefINPUTinput*.csv" "\abcdefARCHIVEarchive.csv"'
EXEC @filestatus = master..xp_cmdshell @inpath
but the problem was it was cutting the input.csv file from INPUT folder but not pasting it in the ARCHIVE folder.
I really appreciate if anyone can help me to solve this or anyone can tell some workarounds.

This excel file contains several rows (some of them may be blank) and columns (also some may be blank). The file is stored in an image object.The file will be checked (they want to do it manually, because contents is a problem). If they say it is OK, I want to run a program to add a record into an existing table with the request no. (from the first table, where the object is stored) and all the information available from the filled rows (first row is header). I have a column, which can be checked, if the row contains data or not.Any ideas?I know how to read from and write the contents of the object to a field in the SQL table. Jul 2, 2015I have a filetable that contains a binary file. I need to do a selective read of the file stored in the file table. I can write a C# CLR function that will open the file, read n bytes the from a starting byte. Or I can write a SQL statement that reads the stream in the filetable into a VARBINARY variable using SUBSTRING beginning at the starting byte (offset from 1) for the same n bytes.
Both give me the same result. However, the SQL statement takes considerably longer to read. I know there is overhead in reading through SQL (interpreted language), but the difference in performance is substantial, and I can only attribute this performance degradation if SQL first tries to "load" the entire stream before it identifies the portion of the stream that it needs to read beginning at the starting byte offset.
I wonder if this is the case or if there is another option to read a stream from a filetable directly through SQL queries that is more efficient.
SQL 2012 :: Use One Of Shared Drives For Configuring MSDTC?
Jun 7, 2015We are going to install a SQL Server 2012 Ent. Edition two node (Active/Passive) cluster. Only one instance. Issue is, a separate shared storage is not provision for MSDTC.
1. Is it mandatory to configure MSDTC for a single SQL 2012 instance ?
2. Can we use one of the shared drives (Data/log/bkp/temp) for configuring MSDTC ?
