SQL 2012 :: Data Driven Report Looping Through Parameter For Multiple Reports
Sep 15, 2015
I'm trying to create a report that will be data-driven and produce multiple reports based on a parameter. For example, 5 reports go out today based on invoice numbers from yesterday. Each invoice can have multiple trasnsaction lines and each line contains the invoice number. What I have so far is only taking the first invoice number (let's say it has 10 transactions) and sending me the same report 10 times and stopping.
I get nothing for the remaining 4 invoices/reports. Here is what I have. To me this should enter the distinct invoice no's from yesterday into #temp, while a invoice no exiists begin query with one invoice selected from #temp then delete that invoice no and select another one and repeat till no more invoice no's. But it's only going through the one invoice no.
select distinct InvoiceNo
into #temp
from table
where Invoicedate between getdate()-1 and getdate()
declare @InvoiceNo VARCHAR(25)
Is it possible to have a data-driven subscription over a report containing sub-reports? I have been trying but without sucess...
I was unable to create the data-driven over the report... only over a linked report to that same report, but even that way when i execute the subscription i get error...
If i create a the data-driven subs to every single sub-report it works fine! So why can't i create the data-driven over the report with those sub-reports? What can be causing the problem?
create table #task(TaskId bigint unique, Name varchar(2000)) insert into #task values(1, 'Text Text Text Text Text Text Text <<Name>> Text Text Text <<Salary>>') insert into #task values(2, 'Text Text Text <<Name>> Text Text Text Text <<Company>> Text Text Text <<Salary>> Text Text Text') -- select * from #task
[Code] ....
Now I need to create an inline function who resolve the task name with appropriate values and return me the resolved task name
select * from fn_TaskResolver(1, 'Text Text Text Text Text Text Text <<Name>> Text Text Text <<Salary>>')
I try this function but its return multiple rows as i just want to return one row. as I have big data set so i don't want to use scaler or Multi Line function.
create function fn_TaskResolver(@TaskId bigint, @name varchar(2000) Return table as return ( with data as
I have been asked to move our entire system over from SQL2000 to SQL2005, i eventually got our database and Cubes over to 2005 and converted all my reports to 2005 and deployed them successfully on RS2005
All the subscriptions have been made and they seem to work when i click to view them. Although when i create a DDS for all my reports to run then they fail. Now i've got over 5000 reports to build and i'm definately not going to create each report manually. My SQL Reports huild successfully, it just seems to be the MDX Reports with a problem, i;ve checked my stored procs and they seem fine, i've even seen the [Clients].&[All.Clients] difference from SQL2005 ---->&<------ that is not in SQL2000.
If someone has, or has had the same problem before would you please help me. Any advice or suggestions would be more than welcome.
I'm using data-driven subscription to deliver reports to users via email.
However every few days or so, some of the reports will fail to get delivered to some of the subscribers. The rpts and subscribers affected are usually not the same.
The log showed the below messages....would really appreciate if anybody can shed light on this! TIA!

I've set up a data-driven subscription on a report but it's not sending and the error log says it's because:
Default value or value provided for the report parameter 'CSRFaxID' is not a valid value.
For the particular dataset record causing the error I'm passing the value Null to the report parameter. The report parameter CSRFaxID is set up with "Allow Null" and with a default value of Null. I can run the report in my browser with CSRFaxID set to null, but the scheduled subscription is not able to produce the report with the same parameter value. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how I can fix it?
I've developed a data driven subscription report. I have a paramete (named "Data") that is a result of my query to the current date. It is working fine.
Now I would like to make one change: In the step4 of the creation of the data-driven report we have the option to give a name to the filename.The name that I gave was TestFile. In this option i'm also able to select the parameter instead of giving the name to the filename. Can I make something like TestFile_ & @Data? Wich would result in TestFile_01-02-2007? Or the only way is to make, in the query of the paramenter another field with this result?
I have a data-driven subscription (DDS) stored procedure that gets called when a subscription fires and returns parameters to a report. One of the parameter values I want to return is NULL, which also happens to be the default value of the corresponding report parameter.
When I set the report parameter to use the default value (NULL) when setting up the subscription in Report Manager, the subscription works fine. When I try to pass the NULL value from the DDS proc to the report, the subscription fails.
I do not know what the error logs say. I've rarely looked at them and what I have seen seems a bit cryptic. I've narrowed down through trial-and-error that passing the NULL value is the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and do you have a resolution?
For the Data Driven Subscription in SSRS we are using the following stored procedure
In Step 3 - Create a data-driven subscription
create procedure spRSGetReportSettings
(
@ReportID as integer
) as
begin
set nocount on
declare @t as table(y int not null primary key)
declare
@cols as nvarchar(max),
@y as int,
@sql as nvarchar(max)
set @cols=stuff(
(select N',' + quotename(y) as [text()]
from (select ParameterName as y from Reportsettings where reportid=1) as Y
order by y
For XML Path('')),1,1,N'');
set @sql=N'select * from
(select reportid,parametername, parametervalue from ReportSettings where reportid= ' + Cast(@ReportID as varchar(5)) +' ) as D
pivot(min(parametervalue) for parametername in(' + @cols +N')) as p'
exec sp_executesql @sql
end
Basically the idea is to maintain a single report parameter setting table for multiple reports.
Structure of the table is as given below
ReportID, ParameterName, ParameterValue.
Using Pivot we can generate the ParameterName/ParameterValue combinations for each report. This stored procedure is working fine in query editors(Management Studio)
But, in SSRS it is giving any results.
In Step 4 - Create a data-driven subscription,
Get the value from the database drop down, I am not getting any database columns.
I have a couple of questions that I hope someone might be able to provide some direction on.
1. Why can't you call a proc when the proc uses temp tables? I wrote a simple proc (select * from table) and the data subscription works perfect. I then take that same query and put it into a temp table and the data set can't be validated by the subscription, Why?
2. Why can't you pass a simple execute statement in a data subscription? (execute dbo.RptTakeTheLeadFLSDinnerCompetition @FiscalQuarter ='2007-Q3', @StoreRegionID = '9231', @StoreType = 'Full-Line Store') works perfect in SQL but once you try and validate in the data subscription is fails.
3. Another question, why if I dumb down the proc and the number of parameters does it work? Are there limitations on the number of parameters you can pass into a proc from a data driven subscription?
Basically, I want to declare a few variables dynamically and pass them into a execute statement that calls the proc. Which in turn runs the report.
We have timed-based subscriptions set up for our standard set of 10 client reports which run monthly with the appropriate parameters set for each of our clients. Our management has requested that we provide them with the ability to run the set of 10 reports together at will. So we would provide the client parameter and all 10 reports would be generated. What is the recommended approach to accomplish this? We are using Sql Server 2005, Visual Studio 2003 and .Net 2.0.
We have a rather large query that takes time to run between each data-driven instance. Is there a way to only send out the first email after the last subscription has finished processing? Any advanced input on data-driven subscriptions .
I have problem with using a data-driven subscription on a report with subreports. It works fine when I remove the subreport and generates error even when I add a subreport which only consists of one textbox.
I just was curious to know if using data-driven subscription on a report with subreports is supposed to work?
I have a report that has ten pages (essentially ten different reports). Each page has one, large main chart and then three smaller charts stacked on top of each other off to the right. The layout is in landscape. When I render the report in Reporting Services, the layout looks fine. If I export it to Adobe, it is also fine. However, when the report is emailed as a PDF attachment, the main chart on each page is completely missing. Has anybody experienced something simliar? I was having issues with the layout, and decreasing the height of each page fixed everything, but created this new problem. I am using Adobe 7.0. Thank you.
I am using SSRS 2005 for reporting. I am not able to see the "New Data-driven Subscription" button in Report Manager. But I am able to see "New Subscription".
This is how I calculate the ratio of failures in an order:
31 Days Table 1 query sum(CASE WHEN (datediff(dd,serDATE,'2015-01-21')) >= 31 THEN 31 WHEN (datediff(dd,serDATE,'2015-01-21')) < 0 THEN 0 ELSE (datediff(dd,serDATE,'2015-01-21'))END) as 31days1 .
How do i loop and pass dates dynamically in the Datediff?
31 Failures Table 2 query SUM(Case when sometable.FAILUREDATE BETWEEN dateadd(DAY,-31,CONVERT(DATETIME, '2015-01-21 23:59:00.0', 102)) AND CONVERT(DATETIME, '2015-01-21 23:59:00.0', 102)Then 1 Else 0 END) As Failures31,31 Day Cal(Formula) combining both Table 1 and Table 2 ((365*(Convert(decimal (8,1),T2.Failures31)/T1.31day))) [31dayCal]This works fine when done for a specific order.
I want a similar kind of calculation done for day wise and month wise.
2. what approach should I be using to achieve day wise and month wise calculation?
I do also have a table called Calender with the list of dates that i can use.
I have a requirement of migrating DTS package which is done in Sql Server 2000 to SSIS 2012.
I started with one package having data driven query task and done with source for which i chose OLE DB Source and given the required select query in ssis 2012
I'm stuck now and i'm unable to choose the relevant tools in ssis 2012 for binding, transformation,queries and lookup tabs used in dts 2000 for this DDQT.
I am writing an app that will allow a user to select various information for displaying in a report. The sql is dynamically generated when the user clicks on "Get Report". Currently, I am using a gridview with a datasource and I pass the query to the datasource and it displays in the grid view. However, our company has expressed a need to migrate reporting to SSRS.
Is there any way that I can use dynamic sql with a template report and feed the dynamic sql to it so that all I would have to do is write a single rdl or rdlc and pass it the sql?
Alternatively, is there a way to have One ReportViewer show multiple parameterized reports. Ie. User selects the report from a dropdown and then selects the parameter options from other dropdowns and when they click "get report" it loads the chosen report with the parameters?
I have an application wherein I need to generate a single report(possibly in PDF format) which contains more than one report. Iam using SSRS 2005. In my application Iam using report server url to render reports. The below is URL for rendering single report.
I am using SS 2005 RS. I am able to generate single page pdf reports by passing "id" as a parameter. Now I need to send multiple ids as parameter and generate one big report which would contain reports for all the ids supplied on separate pages. Is this possible? If yes, then how do i do this.
What I have tried so far is, I created new report with a list control and added single page report as a subreport to this list control and grouped this list control using id parameter. When i send multiple ids in the parameter, for example 3 ids, it generates 3 page report but only for the first id. So it generates report for the first id and repeats same report 3 times.
Hello, since a couple of days I'm fighting with RS 2005 and the Stored Procedure.
I have to display the result of a parameterized query and I created a SP that based in the parameter does something:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON CREATE PROCEDURE [schema].[spCreateReportTest] @Name nvarchar(20)= ''
AS BEGIN
declare @slqSelectQuery nvarchar(MAX);
SET NOCOUNT ON set @slqSelectQuery = N'SELECT field1,field2,field3 from table' if (@Name <> '') begin set @slqSelectQuery = @slqSelectQuery + ' where field2=''' + @Name + '''' end EXEC sp_executesql @slqSelectQuery end
Inside my business Intelligence Project I created: -the shared data source with the connection String - a data set : CommandType = Stored Procedure Query String = schema.spCreateReportTest When I run the Query by mean of the "!" icon, the parameter is Prompted and based on the value I provide the proper result set is displayed.
Now I move to "Layout" and my undertanding is that I have to create a report Paramater which values is passed to the SP's parameter... So inside"Layout" tab, I added the parameter: Name allow blank value is checked and is non-queried
the problem is that when I move to Preview -> I set the value into the parameter field automatically created but when I click on "View Report" nothing has been generated!!
I need to somehow set up a third parameter which allows me to control the tag quantity type either by ALL - % , IS NULL, or IS NOT NULL.
I tried TAG_QUANTITY LIKE :Tags but this would only work if I had the % option select and not the IS NULL or IS NOT NULL
Any thoughts on how to format the select statement?
SELECT ORGANIZATION_ID, TAG_ID, PHYSICAL_INVENTORY_ID, TAG_NUMBER, CREATION_DATE, VOID_FLAG, TAG_QUANTITY, TAG_UOM, SUBINVENTORY, LOCATOR_ID, COUNTED_BY_EMPLOYEE_ID FROM INV.MTL_PHYSICAL_INVENTORY_TAGS WHERE (ORGANIZATION_ID = ite) AND (PHYSICAL_INVENTORY_ID = :InventoryID) AND (VOID_FLAG = 2) AND TAG_QUANTITY IS NULL ORDER BY TAG_NUMBER
So I get the basics, have a script that can deploy a single report to a single server. I have other simple scripts that work as well. Now I want a script that can deploy a single report to multiple Sharepoint servers. I have about 30. I know we are probably doing this wrong, as in, we shouldn't be deploying the same report to 30 sites, as they are all all technically all on the same server however they are all independent site collections so as far as I know there is no way to deploy them to a central location and then link to them from each site.
So I tried to copy elements of my single report deploy script and duplicate the Sub Main() to Sub Main1() and Sub Main2() with multiple "ParentPath1" dims, yes I know I'm stupid. That obviously didn't work. So looking at some other scripts including my own subscription updater and I'm sure I need to do some kind of "For Each item in X" but where to start. The other lists I've seen all come from rs.Something. My list is just 30 variables in the script, how can I say for each site in this list, Publish this report?
Here's the simple script that works fine. I just don't know how to modify it to make it deploy this to multiple sites. After I figure that out, I was going to accept the challenge of deploying multiple reports to multiple sites in a single script...
Dim warnings As Warning() = Nothing Dim parentFolder As String = "Reports" Dim filePath As String = "filepath" Dim reportName As String = "Report file name" Dim parentPath As String = "Sharepoint site URL" Public Sub Main()
In my form i have a list box and i need to display paticular records of all employees I selected.So please tell me how to pass multiple values from a single parameter.
currently i am able to pass single value through a parameter using following code
osqlreport.reportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = new Uri("http://localhost/reportserver");
I have a report that gets sends out through a subscription and sometimes the report has multiple pages and all those pages appear within one email.Is it possible to set the subscription in such a way that an email is sent per page when the subscription executes.
