I'm using MS SQL Server 2008R2, Is there a way to find size on disk for view(s) ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way of creating an alert on free disk size?
I mean by using WMI event alert
I need a way to get the used space for a physical drive, or even the total capacity for a drive to do some calculations.
I don't want to have to write my own native code either.
Is there a stored procedure that will give this to me?
I saw the xp_fixeddrives that will give the free space, but I need one of the other as well.
Any way to get this?
Thanks,
Jason
Hi,
I am getting this error when I try to run a script to create a table. The error reads as below
The total row size (12488) for table exceeds the maximum number of bytes per row (8060). Rows that exceed the maximum number of bytes will not be added.
Can somebody tell me what I have done wrong?
thanks

Hi,
Is there any SQL Server functionstored procedure available to get drivesvolumes and mount points total size and free space information?
I don’t want to use clr approach for this.

I have created a report as shown below using OLTP tables.
No

Now I want to insert total in the middle of the table, like I want to display:
Total of CA when No in (10101,10104,10105) as 'Total Cash'
then
I want to display total of 'Total Cash' + 'Accounts Receivable'(10201) as 'Cash & Receivables'

How do I do this?
In SQL Server 2014, how big for the block size is better for performance? 64 KB? 4 KB?
For normal database files, best practise is 64 KB disk block size. Not sure if it is same for memory-optimized filegroup.
Is there a way to find out total number of queries ran i.e by day/hour or since the database was brought up in SQL Server 7?
Thanks in advance,
It is possible to find table size and in that table each row size.

We have a couple of 200GB databases that are recreated each night on a SQL2012 server connected to a disk array. The SQL disk is an auto-tiered combo of 10k and 7k drives in a RAID1 lun, and both data and log files are there.
Recently, some room has opened up on an older array that contains smaller, but many, 15k drives that I could use in a RAID1 config. Being that I'd like to split up the mdf and ldf files, which would you put onto the new (faster) disk?
EDIT: Add'l info: the only current performance issues I see in the SQL Log are FlushCache messages occuring throughout the night, when all activity happens for this DB. Things like this: "FlushCache: cleaned up 388690 bufs with 23474 writes in 409743 ms (avoided 179747 new dirty bufs) for db 47:0"
During investigation problem with disk i found some issue, that every 2 minutes is writing on disk , it looks like to mdf file of database, but in almost 6-8milions Bytes / sec , it is about 1-2 sec , but every 2minutes... this is normal behaviour ? this is synchonyous writing to disk from memory.

We have an application with replicated environment setup on sql server 2012 . Users will have a replica on their machines and they will replicate to the master database. It has 3 subscriptions subscribed to the publications on the master db.
1) We set up a replica(which uses sql server 2012) on a machine with no sql server on it. After the initial synchronization(used replmerge tool) the mdf file has grown to 33gigs and ldf has grown to 41 gigs. I went to sql server management studion . Right click and checked the properties of the local database. over all size is around 84 gb with little empty free space available.
2) We set up a replica(which uses sql server 2012) on a machine with sql server 2008 on it. After the initial synchronization(used replmerge tool) the mdf file has grown to 49 gigs and ldf has grown to 41 gigs. I went to sql server management studio , Right click and checked the properties of the local database. over all size is around 90 gb with 16 gb free space available.
3) We set up a replica(which uses sql server 2012) on a machine with sql server 2012 on it. We have dropped the local database and recreated the local db and did the initial synchronization using replmerge tool. The mdf file has grown to 49 gigs and ldf has grown to 41 gigs. I went to sql server management studio , Right click and checked the properties of the local database. over all size is around 90 gb with 16 gb free space available.
Why it is allocating the space differently? This is effecting our initial replica set up times.
We're having some issues with where our backups write to, so I've been watching and monitoring the performance, when I noticed today that restore labelonly from disk has been running almost non stop for the past few hours.
The account running the query is the SQL Server's service account, and the program is "Microsoft SQL Server".
Every minute or so the SPID changes which made me think it was related to the transaction logs, the "restore labelonly" runs for as long as each database in the transaction log backup.
Example: Database A transaction log backup takes 1 minute and the SPID XX for restore labelonly runs 1 minute
Database B transaction log backup starts and there is a new SPID for restore labelonly.
I hope this makes sense because I normally don't see this restore labelonly running.
I have a windows 2012 cluster environment that consists of two SQL servers nodes with Quorum disk configured as witness.
Manual failover between nodes is working fine, however the sql instance virtual is not seeing the Quorum disk.
Moreover the Quorum disk has the same number as another cluster storage disk, is that considered a problem?
When I move the SQL instance from a node to anohter, should the Quorum Disk change ownership as well to that destination node ? if it is not changing ownership what would be the problem??
Env: SQL Server 2000The following sql stmt seems to find a particular table's sizeprogrammatically:select top 1 [rows],rowcntfrom sysindexeswhere ID = object_id('aUserTable')and status = 0and used > 0However,a) I'm not 100% sure of its consistency;b) Both [rows] col and [rowcnt] col seems to produce same data, whichone is supposed to be more accurate (or more up to date)?TIA.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to determine how much space some tables use (SQL2000), and I found 2 suggestions posted earlier, but can't get them to work for me.
The first was
"Right click on the DB in Enterprise Manager, select view then taskpad."
When I try that, I get some of the tables displayed with the info I want, but I can't see them all and can't scroll down beyond the first 22 tables in the database.
The second suggestion:
exec sp_msforeachtable @command1="print '?'",@command2="sp_spaceused '?'"
It says "command copleted successfully, but where does the output to this go ?? Is there something other than "print" I should use ?
The grid pane is empty.
