Fuzzy Lookup Transform Row Scores 'inconsistent' With Individual Column Scores

Sep 1, 2006

I am trying to interpret some of the results I observe when trying to match similar records using a fuzzy lookup transform, but it's not entirely clear how the overall row similarity score is calculated. In particular, sometimes rows with lower individual column similarity scores will achieve a higher similarity and confidence score than a matching row with higher individual column scores.

The transform is configured with 6 text fields set to fuzzy mapping and a minimum similarity of 0, and 3 additional numeric fields with an exact mapping. It is set to return a maximum of 2 matches per lookup and to do an exhaustive search of the reference table.

For example, from the following matching pair of records Match 1 is picked over Match 2 even though it's individual scores are lower.

Match 1 Match 2
----------------- -----------------
_similarity_author 1.0 1.0
_similarity_title 0.85344648 1.0
_similarity_headline 0.0125 0.0125
_similarity_summary 0.0125 0.0125
_similarity_picture 1.0 1.0
_similarity_caption 1.0 1.0

_similarity 7.8429267E-2 7.3196657E-2
_confidence 0.55728668 0.44271332

In another case both matching records have *identical* scores for every mapped column and yet their similarity and confidence scores are different.

Clearly there are other factors involved in calculating the overall row score. Anybody know what these are?

SQL 2012 :: Percentage Of Rows That Meet Multiple Criteria?

Jun 2, 2015

I am working on a project that was assigned to me that has to do with data in one of our SQL databases. I have the following query that takes information from a single table and averages test scores for each student.

--Group all scores from same student and average them together

with cte_names as
(
SELECT StudentID, MAX(StudentName) AS StudentName
FROM LDCScores
WHERE schoolYear='2014-2015' AND term = 3
GROUP BY StudentID

[code].....

I now need to take the results from the above query and determine the percentage of students, per school that scored a 2 or greater in grade 7 for each test. For grade 8 scored a 2.5 or greater, grade 9 scored a 3 or greater, grade 10 scored a 3 or greater, grade 11 scored a 3.5 or greater, and grade 12 scored a 3.5 or greater.

If they have a % work of 0, I do not want to see anything. But if the % changes, from say .5 to .75, I would need the first and last month they were at .5, and the first and last month they were at .75

The Table:

SET IDENTITY_INSERT #TestProject2 ON
INSERT INTO #TestProject2
("ID","PersonID", "PercentLoad","MonthID")
SELECT 1,123456,0,1 UNION ALL

[Code] ....

EXPECTED RESULT:

SQL Server 2012 :: Best Way To Handle Like Percentage On Column Too Large For Index

Sep 18, 2015

We have a table to 100M rows and up until now we were fine with an non clustered index a varchar(4000) because we never went above 900 bytes (yes it is a bad design). We have the need to support international character sets now so the column was updated to nvarchar(4000) and now we have data past the 900 byte limit.

The data is long, seems useless but is needed by the business and they need to be able to search "where bigcolumn like 'test%'". With an index, even with a huge amount of data, it was 'fast'. Now of course without an index it is unusable. The wildcard is always at the end of the search. I made a full text index on the column and basic queries such as: select * from ourtable where contains(bigcolumn, 'AReallyLongStringofTextHere') works fine unless there is a space in the data. We loose thousands of returned rows because of spaces in the data.

I have tried select * from ourtable where contains(bigcolumn, '"AReallyLongStringofTextHere that includes spaces"') but not all of the data is returned. I get 112 rows with the contains statement. The table scanning statement of "select * from ourtable where bigcolumn like 'AReallyLongStringofTextHere that includes spaces%' returns 1939 rows.I understand that a full text index is breaking the long string up since it contains spaces. Is there a way to retain the entire string as 1 index entry or is there a way to fix my query to return all of the rows?

SQL 2012 :: Calculate (Number Of Days To Pay) Logic

Jun 24, 2014

How to write a query that calculate the number of days (approx) that it takes to a customer to pay an invoice.

Document Types

1 Payment
2 Invoice
3 Credit Memo
4 Finance Charge Memo
5 Reminder
6 Refund

There are three methods to consider when calculating the days to pay logic.

Method 1 - Simple : Look for Document Type 2 (Invoice), if "closed at date" > "posting date" then number of days = ("closed at date" - "posting date")

Method 2 - A Document Type 1 (payment) closes a Document Type 2 (Invoice)
For this method the formula would be: Payment Record (1) "posting date" - Invoice Record (2) "posting date"

Method 3 - An Invoice closes the payment.

On a payment entry “closed by entry no.” refers to an Invoice entry.

a. In our code we are not on the payment looking for the invoice, we are on the invoice.
i. Because of this we need to find the entry that our current invoiced has closed.

I am taking this from a page that has the pascal code that I need to translate to SQL.

IF (CustLedgEntry2."Document Type" = CustLedgEntry2."Document Type"::Invoice) AND
NOT CustLedgEntry2.Open
THEN
IF CustLedgEntry2."Closed at Date" > CustLedgEntry2."Posting Date" THEN
UpdateDaysToPay(CustLedgEntry2."Closed at Date" - CustLedgEntry2."Posting Date")

Calculating Survey Scores

select empid, ans_for_ql,

ans_for_q2,
(if ans_for_q2 = A then 8, B then 4, C then 2, D then 1, E then 0) as weightscore

Here is what the table looks like:

empid | Ans_for_Q1 | Ans_for_Q2
1001 A C
1002 B E

And these are the possible answers and what they need to be converted to:

Weights for answers to Question1
Q1_A = 0
Q1_B = 3
Q1_C = 5

Weights for answers to Question2
Q2_A = 8
Q2_B = 4
Q2_C = 2

SQL Server 2012 :: Using DateDiff To Work As Excel Network Days

Jan 2, 2015

So I am trying to work out the difference between today's date (GETDATE()) and a Target Date in a specific table (targetdate)

When I use the DATEDIFF function it is including non working days in the calculation (weekends and bank holidays). Although our date calandar table provided to us from a third party supplier will tell you the weekends, it does not tell you the bank holidays.

Luckily there is another table in the database called - ih_non_work_days.

The format of the date is "2014-12-25 00:00:00.000" for example in that table.

How do I using my "targetdate" and today's date calculate in days the differance - excluding the dates that exist in the ih_non_work_days database?

So for now my basic script looks like -

SELECT com.comm_reference AS 'Referance'
,com.current_task_target_date AS 'TargetDate'
, DATEDIFF(D,com.current_task_target_date,GETDATE()) AS 'Incorrect Date Calculation'

SQL Server 2012 :: Add Business Days To A Date Using Calendar Table

May 12, 2015

I have a date that I need to add 'n' number of business days to. I have a calendar table that has a 'IsBusinessDay' flag, so it would be good if I was able to use this to get what I need. I've tried to use the 'LEAD' function in the following way;

SELECT A. Date, B.DatePlus3BusinessDays
FROM TableA A

LEFT JOIN (Select DateKey, LEAD(DateKey,3) OVER (ORDER BY datekey) AS DatePlus3BusinessDays FROM Calendar WHERE IsBusinessDay = 1) B ON A.DateKey = B.DateKey

Problem with this is that because I am filtering the Calendar for business days only, when there is a date that is not a business day in TableA, a NULL is being returned.

Is there any way to do a conditional LEAD, so it skips rows that are not business days? Or do I have do go with a completely different approach?

SQL Server 2012 :: Split Total Days And Amount Between Start And End Month

Mar 21, 2015

I have the table below and like to create a view to show the no of days the property was vacant or void and rent loss per month. The below explanation will describe output required

For example we have a property (house/unit/apartment) and the tenant vacates on 06/09/2014. Lets say we fill the property back on 15/10/2014. From this we know the property was empty or void for 39 days. Now we need to calculate the rent loss. Based on the Market Rent of the property we can get this. Lets say the market rent for our property is $349/pw. So the rent loss for 39 days is 349/7*39 = $1944.43/-.

Now the tricky part and what im trying to achieve. Since the property was void or empty between 2 months, I want to know how many days the property was empty in the first month and the rent loss in that month and how many days the property was empty in the second month and the rent loss incurred in that month. Most of the properties are filled in the same month and only in few cases the property is empty between two months.

As shown below we are splitting the period 06/09/2014 - 15/10/2014 and then calculating the void days and rent loss per month

Period No of Void Days Rent Loss
06/09/2014 - 30/09/2014 24 349/7*24 = 1196.57
01/10/2014 - 15/10/2014 15 349/7*15 = 747.85

I have uploaded a screenshot of how the result on this link: [URL] ....

Declare @void Table
(
PropCode VARCHAR(10)
,VoidStartDate date
,LetDate date
,Market_Rent Money

Find 90th Percentile Scores For Each Student

Sep 15, 2006

I am stumped on a set-based approach for this one.

A cursor approach is straightforward enough, but i want to avoid that.

Here's my table:

create table StudentScores
(
id int primary key identity(1,1),
student_id int not null,
score int not null
)

with some sample data:

insert into StudentScores (student_id, score)
select 1, 10 union all
select 1, 29 union all
select 1, 50 union all
select 1, 53 union all
select 1, 45 union all
select 1, 10 union all
select 1, 29 union all
select 1, 50 union all
select 1, 53 union all
select 1, 45 union all
select 1, 88 union all
select 2, 23 union all
select 2, 54 union all
select 2, 55 union all
select 2, 34 union all
select 2, 56 union all
select 2, 78 union all
select 2, 23 union all
select 2, 54 union all
select 2, 55 union all
select 2, 34 union all
select 2, 56 union all
select 2, 78 union all
select 2, 23 union all
select 2, 54 union all
select 2, 55 union all
select 2, 34 union all
select 2, 56 union all
select 2, 78 union all
select 2, 98

What I want is, for each student, what is their 90th percentile score?

For a given single student, one possibility would be:

declare @studentid int
set @studentid = 2
select top 1 @studentid as student_id, a.score as [90th percentile score]
from
(
select top 90 percent score from StudentScores
where student_id = @studentid order by score asc
) as a
order by a.score desc

But I want this for all students, and not use a cursor.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Help With Percentage

Jun 3, 2008

Hi i create a temp table that count how many A,B,C and D there where in a table.

I need calculate the percentage. It could be easy put the problem is that i cannot devide by the same number.

Here my temp table DECLARE @Temp table
(
strLastName varchar(50),
strFirstName varchar(50),
strReponse char(10),
strNomObjet nvarchar(200),
strDescripteurOrdre char(10),
strNomDescripteur nvarchar(200),
strObjetOrdre char(10)
)

I want to check how many A there is.

SELECT strNomObjet,strNomDescripteur,count(*) FROM @Temp
WHERE strReponse = 'A'
GROUP BY strNomObjet,strNomDescripteur

This will give me somthing like this
For the first one there 25 A
Second 27 A

After that i use

SELECT count(*) FROM @Temp
GROUP BY strNomObjet,strNomDescripteur

That will give me how many person have been tested.

It will give me this
36
36
35
36
35
36
36
35
35

So i need to take the first 25

25 / 36 * 100 = 69.4%
27 / 36 * 100 = 75%
26 / 35 * 100 = 74.2%

I hope you understand what i mean!
Any idea?
Tks in advance

Top N Percentage

Jul 23, 2005

Hello!I have a need to create a function that will return a sublist ofelements from a table based on an associated column value and itsranking within the table (based on a percentage range). To expand with a simple example (only 4 elements):Element | Value---------------A102 | 5A506 | 10A322 | 15A342 | 20I would like to be able to return the range of elements that lie in the50-75% value range (e.g. third quartile range). Therefore with onlythese four elements I would want to return the element code 'A322'.I have attempted to achieve this by using SELECT TOP n PERCENT. I canbring back the required range by combining two select percentstatements.SELECT Element from ELEMENT_TABLEWHERE Element IN(SELECT TOP 75 PERCENT Element FROM ELEMENT_TABLE ORDER BY Value)AND Element NOT IN(SELECT TOP 50 PERCENT Element FROM ELEMENT_TABLE ORDER BY Value)The problem is that I cannot seem to pass a variable to this percentageso if I want another percentage range set, I ave to define anotherfunction. My question therefore is does anyone know either(1) a way I can pass a variable (n) to these SELECT n PERCENTstatementsOR(2) an alternative way of doing this? Many thanks!Andrew
