SQL 2012 :: Passing Record Counts From Execute Task In SSIS To Package Variables

Mar 4, 2014

I've got a package in SSIS 2012 that has an Execute SQL task in the control flow level.

The SQL in question does an Upsert via the SQL merge statement. What I want to do, is return the count of records inserted and records updated (No deletes going on here to worry about). I'm using the output option to output the changed recs to a table variable.

I've tried returning the values as:

Select Count(*) as UpdateCount from @mergeOutput where Action = 'Update'
and
Select Count(*) as InsertCount from @mergeOutput where Action = 'Insert'

I've tried setting the resultset to both Single rowset and Full rowset, but i'm not seeing anything returned to the package variables I've set for them (intInsertcount and intUpdatecount).

Integration Services :: Execute Process Task / Passing In Variables From SSIS To Powershell Script

May 15, 2015

I am using SSIS 2012 to dynamically backup stored procedures on a list of Servers and Databases. Here are the steps in my package,

1. Execute SQL Task: Captures a result set (configured to save the data set in an Object variable) with all the Servers and Databases on which stored procedures exist.

2. For each loop that is configured to get each each row(server name @[User::Server_Name] and databases name @[User::DataBase_Name]) from the object variable (@[User::Connection_Strings])and pass it to a connection manager that has an expression for servername
and database name.

2a)  Within the for each loop, i have an execute process task that is configured as

 i) Executable:  C:WindowsSystem32WindowsPowerShellv1.0powershell.exe
ii) Arguments:  Configured this to fetch value from an expression. The expression i am using is,'C:batch - CopyPowerShell Scripts to Backup Stored ProceduresScriptOutSPs.ps1' -$Server_Name "+ @[User::Server_Name]+ " -$Database_Name "+ @[User::DataBase_Name]

Note:  @[User::Server_Name] is the Servername from object variable and so is @[User::DataBase_Name] for database name . The execute task is to run a command line that triggers a powershell script with parameters. Here is the powershell script that i am using,

param([String]$Server_Name,[String]$Database_Name)
$Server = $Server_Name
$Database = $Database_Name
$savePath = "SalesDepartmentsData ScienceUsersSANDEEP PStoredProcedures_Backup"

[code]...

When i execute the script, by passing parameters from arguments, it executes successfully but nothing happens. Passing wrong arguments in the expression?

Integration Services :: Logging Record Counts To Execute Task For Table Update

Jun 20, 2015

Have an SSIS package running great in 2008R2. It generates several flat files based on inline database queries. The first step of the package inserts a record into a log stats table and the last step of the package updates this record with the package name, run time and execution status. Now I need to add the records counts for each flat file to the log table.

Is there a way I can update one field for run counts with each of the counts for each file. So the [run counts] table column would look something like:

file1: 43522
file2: 645367
file3: 7883

Is it possible to store the record counts and flat file names in variables then concat them at the end when updating this record?

Or, is a better way to just insert/update a new record for each flat file step and log the counts for that file for its own record?

In either case, how I can capture the file count and pass that to the update statement.

Execute DTS 2000 Package Task Editor (Inner Variables Vs Outer Variables)

Sep 4, 2006

Hi,

I am not comfortable with DTS 2000 but I need to execute a encapsulated DTS 2000 package from a SSIS package. The real problem is when I need to pass SSIS variables to DTS 2000 package. The DTS 2000 package have 3 global variables that I can identify on " Execute DTS 2000 Package Task Editor - Inner Variables ". I believe the SSIS variables must be mapped on " Execute DTS 2000 Package Task Editor - OuterVariables ". How can I associate the SSIS variables(OuterVariables ) to "Inner Variables"? How can I do it? Much Thanks.

Passing Variables As Arguments To Execute Process Task?

Nov 9, 2007

I am running my "execute process task" in a foreach loop that uses two variables (file paths) from the recordset that feeds into it.

My executable line looks like this: C:Program FilesWinZipWZZIP.EXE ,
which runs the command line Winzip executable and my argument line looks like this: -rp @ZipArch @ZipTxt.

When I replace the variables with literal strings, the process works (only once, of course).

My Argument won't parse in the expression editor, nor does the process run when embedded in the foreach loop. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

Problem With Package.Execute Passing Variables

Dec 20, 2006

I am having a problem with passing variables into my SSIS package from C#. The variable names match ("Variable1, ...), however they do not seem to be assigned the proper values once the package is executed. The package does run and returns a FALURE notice saying there is a problem with my expressions.

When I added a new data flow, derived all the variables into columns and wrote their values to a flat file I noticed that the values still contain my default values from the SSIS package itself as though nothing was passed in from C#. I am hoping that it is a simple configuration/user error.

Any ideas?

Using Package Variables As Parameters In Execute Sql Task

Feb 23, 2006

Hi,

I need to run an SQL command, in which one of the fields is based on the current time, represented as a string in a specific format.

I used a script task to create the string from the current time, and store it in a package variable named "newDate". Later, in the execute sql task, I have the following update statement: "update table_1 set field_1 = ?" (OLE DB connection is used)

and in the parameters mapping I set parameter 0 to the string package variable "newDate".

The problem is that on runtime, the sql executes with the default value of the variable - i.e. it doesn't take the new value.

I checked it and placed another script task after the first one, that simply tries to read the variable "newDate" and print it to screen, but even here the default value is used.

how can I use the new value of the variable?

thanks.

Package Variables Passed To Execute SQL Task

Aug 14, 2007

Hi,

I am having trouble getting the Execute SQL Task to recognize the package-level variables in an SSIS package. The tasks fail execution. The package contains three Execute SQL tasks and none of them receive the variables. However, when I replace the '?' in the code with the variable values they execute fine. These are the steps I have taken thus far:

Made sure the three variables are package level.
Verified I'm using an OLE DB valid connection.
Verified the variables are properly mapped in the parameters mapping section of the task properties.
Tried all 4 types of variable to parameter mapping (even though '?' in the query and '0,1,2..' in the name should work).
Changed the Bypassprepare property to 'True'.
Breakpoints and watch windows to verify the variable values.

I actually tried the simple tutorials on a one-liner SQL statement that uses variables, but had the same problem. I know there must be something simple that I'm missing here, but any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Execute Package Task: Setting Child Variables

Feb 13, 2007

Hi,
Let's say I have a package taking as parameter "InvoiceID". I want to execute this package as a child in another package. The parent package gets the list of invoices to produce and calls the child package for each entry of the list.

How do I pass the InvoiceID to the child? I know I can use the parent's variables from the child but I don't want the child package to be dependant on the parent package. For example, I might want to execute the "child" package as a stand-alone in development (providing it with a predefined InvoiceID). I might also want to call the same child package from another parent package with other variable names.

What I would like to do is "push" the value instead of "pulling" it. I know it's possible using the command line and the /SET option (ex.: /SET Package.Variables[InvoiceID].Value;' 184084)... Is it possible using the Execute Package Task?

Thanks

Passing Execute DTS Package Result (success/failure) To Calling SSIS Package

Mar 6, 2008

I have a SSIS job, one of the last steps it performs is to execute a SQL 2000 DTS package. This has to be done as a SQL 2000 DTS package as it is performing rebuilds of SQL 2000 Analysis Services dimensions and cubes. We've found that when the DTS fails the SSIS job is happily completing showing as a success, we would prefer to know it went wrong.

As far as I'm aware SSIS merely starts the DTS off and doesn't care about it's result. I've taken a look in to turning on the logging for the execute DTS package and thought that the ExecuteDTS80PackageTaskTaskResult would give me the answer I need...but is merely written to the log not available as an event-handler. It also looks like it is not safe to put a SQL task in as the next item to go look at the SQL 2000 system tables to look at the log for the DTS package as the SSIS documentation warns that the DTS package can continue to run after the execute DTS package task has ended.

Ideally I want any error raised within the DTS package to cascade up to be an error in the SSIS job, I can then handle it appropriately. I cannot find a way to do this. Is there a way?

If not, can anyone suggest how in the remainder of the SSIS tasks I can be sure that the DTS has completed before I start any other tasks that will check for the SQL 2000 log of its execution?

Workflow Error On Execute DTS 2000 Package Task In SSIS

I have a "Execute DTS Package 2000 " task in SSIS. The SQL 2000 DTS has one task which precedence is "completion". Using SQL2000 it works properly, but when I invoke it from SSIS it doesn€™t respect the precedence. So, when the task above fails it ends the DTS execution.

Is it possible to configure the task to respect the precedences?

Running A Ssis Package In Sql Server Agent With Execute Process Task

Now when i try to run in from smss > agent jobs > job and run job it never completes. Im not getting any error message either it just keeps on running on the step ??? It seems like a rights issue, but the account running the sql server agent is able to execute the cmd file directly from the command prompt.

There are no errors in any error logs anywhere and no error is displayed...

Ps. Im running the job step as a integration service pacgake.

SQL 2012 :: Can't Execute SSIS Package From Remote Machine

Mar 19, 2013

OS: Windows 2012, standard, 64-bit
SQL: 2012 + SP1 + CU2 = 11.0.3339

We recently decided to "break apart" our BI environment. We used to have everything on one box, DB Engine, SSIS, SSAS & SSRS. Everything has been running fine, but we now have other projects using these services, so we decided to break them apart into their own boxes.

We now have DB Engine on one Server, SSIS & SSRS on another server and SSAS on yet another server, so we now have three boxes that replaced one box. All are Windows 2012, standard, 64-bit with SQL Server 2012 + SP1 + CU2.

Since some of our SSIS packages have to access external resources, we used a domain account for it's service account. The DB Engine and SSAS box are using the default service accounts when installed. I can execute the packages fine on the SSIS server, I can even execute them via SQL Agent jobs on the SSIS box (we did install a default instance of SQL on the SSIS box), however when I try to execute a package from my laptop, it fails with the ugly "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON'".

I immediately double checked my SPNs and they all looked correct for the SSIS server and the service account we are using (and we had no duplicates). I also double checked the User Rights Assignment in the Local policy editor and all the correct Rights have been assigned (Log on as a service, Bypass traverse checking, Impersonate a client after authentication).

The first step in my package will rename the input files in those folders to names which the package can understand. I have created two variables in my package to read the files with those file names. I used these variables in connection managers.

If any of these folders doesn't have input files when the package runs, the package will fail.how to make the package the run successfully even there is no input feed?

SQL 2012 :: SSIS Package - FTP Task Fails When Run From A Job

Apr 3, 2014

We are running SQL Server 2012 SP1 64-Bit EE on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. I have a SSIS Package which connects to a FTP Site and downloads a file. Then it truncates a table and loads the file data into a table. This package works okay when executed from within VSS and SSMS (In SSISDB, right click on the package and execute). However, when I execute it as a Job it does not run and appears to be failing on the first task which is the FTP Task. SQL job step - Type: SSIS Package; Run as: SQL Server Agent Service Account (domain account called playuser); Authentication: Windows Authentication. In the All Executions Standard Report for the SSISDB Catalog, it only says: FTP Download File: Errors: There were errors during task validation.

Is this because my domain account does not have access to the FTP Site?Is this where I need to come up with a Proxy Account with Credentials?Do I need to set up a SQL Server Login (Proxy Account) with the same username being used in the FTP Batch file?

FTP Commands in a batch file:
username
password
cd omb
asc

Implementing Transaction In SSIS Package - [Execute SQL Task] Error: Failed To Acquire Connection &&<ConnectionName&&>.

I have a simple SSIS package with three "Execute SQL Tasks". I am using ADO.Net Connection to execute SPs on a DB server.

When I execute this package It works fine. So far so good.

Now, I need to implement transation on this package. And problem starts now onwards. When I try to execute package after setting TransationOption = Required for the Sequence container which contains all the tasks, I get following error.

[Execute SQL Task] Error: Failed to acquire connection "NYCDB0008.Export". Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this connection.

"NYCDB0008.Export" is the name of the ADO.Net connection. I have been hunting for any solution but all in vain. I have tried changing all DTC settings on the dev as well as Database server.

Please respond if anyone has any solution.

Passing Variables To A Package From A Website

Feb 28, 2008

I'm developing an SSIS package that will theoretically be run in two different ways. One is as a nightly job, called by a SQL job. The second is from a web application. When run as a job, it will be looking for a flat file in a known location. Run from the web, the file name and location are determined at runtime. I've tried to handle this by using a variable to hold the flatfile connection string, and setting the variable value to the known location. Then, when called to the web, I determine the file location/name at runtime, and pass it to the package. I'd assumed that if I pass the value into the package, it would override the variable's value that I'd set, but this doesn't seem to be happening. I realize this could very well be due to a coding error, but I thought I'd check to see if this is even a viable approach to be taking. If a variable's value is set in the package itself, will it be overwritten by a value passed to the package (assuming no stupid mistakes)? Or is this entirely the wrong approach to be taking for what I'm trying to do?

Does anyone has some hints for good approaches? Every idea is welcome.

FYI: I do not use the bulk insert task as I need an errorlog file and the command is buggy with the errorfile option, therefore I chose the bcp approach. My connections are dynamic as far as servername and userid is concerned, but I did not find a solution for the password issue.
