View 1 RepliesI have an excel file which i am reading through SSIS through MICROSOFT Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider. My problem is that if the Excel file has data in a column as 123.45 which is displayed as 123. SSIS is able to pick 123 only and not 123.45. however if I change the data type to Numeric in the excel, SSIS is able to read data as 123.45.Any solution other than changing data type in Excel?

The same package when run from the file system package, runs successfully. Generating ispac and deploying in SSISDB is running for infinite time. Is it a permission issue?
View 7 Replies View RelatedHistorically I've always written a VB script to copy a file from a sharepoint library. I don't like this method because I have to input a username & password in the script and maintain a config file.
Yesterday I was playing around with using a file system task. The sharepoint file has a UNC path so why not? I created a simple test package with a single file system task that copies the sharepoint file (addressed via UNC) to another network location. Package runs fine locally.
I try running on our utility server but am getting a "The file name [SHAREPOINT UNC PATH] specified in the connection was not valid" error. Package is running with a proxy on the server and the proxy account has the same permissions to the sharepoint site (so far as I can tell) as me.
I was assigned a project to make a backup of data from 3 lists in a sharepoint with the objective of using that data to do reports on it using Report Builder.
I was abble to do the downloads using the add in to do downloads Sharepoint List Source and Destination "plug in" in SSIS, now the issue is how to update the backup table only with updated and new rows.

I need to build an asp.net/C# application to read values from an Excel spreadsheet. Once the values are read from the spreadsheet, the C# code will do some elementary statistics on the values read. Then the values read and their computations will be written to a sql server database.
My manager suggested that SSIS might be a good candidate technology for doing this type of work. Does that sound correct? My only hesitation with using SSIS is that I want to keep the application as simple as possible, so that the code can be more portable. Maybe might argument is not a good one, but maybe someone can help me out here.

Hi,
I have a requirement where I should be reading the file (I will use File system Task for this) and the header content. I should be able to read the header, validate and when the validation succeeds , I should start process the rest of the file.
To elaborate this further, take a sample Example. Assume that the header will have the date information. In a given folder I should read the file, will check the date (header being the first line of the file). If it matches the current date, I will start processing and on completion I will archive my files.
Can someone help me on this sample. Thanks

Hi,
I want to read and get information of Database name, userid, password from a text file by Integration services 2005.
Please let me know..
Thanks
I have a simple SSIS package -> It reads a local text file which has 10 rows of data ( id, name, telephone # ) and puts it into a table.
It uses the "SSIS Flat File source" to read and a "SQL Command" to insert into the table. I can see that it reads line by line and puts each line into one row in my table.
Now, my production data is over 5 GiG of mainframe data and it seems their data is arranged in some hierarchical form.. so the position or arrangement of data in that file is important.
I pulled the data using my package and as far as I can see , my SSIS package pulled one line at a time ( from the flat file) and pushed it into my table. For each row, I also created an identity column in my table to be able to identify the positional arrangement of the hierarchical data and then use relational mappings to suit our business needs.
In all of this, my assumption is -
"SSIS reads one line at a time, inserts to my table and goes down to the next line .
It does NOT read a snapshot of rows from the flat file so as to write them into the table using internal ordering methods based on that particular snapshot "
My question is .. is my assumption correct ?
We'll be using 2014 enterprise to stage some excel files into sql. Can ssis read excel files from a sharepoint server?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am tasked with creating a batch file to execute SSIS packages.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a bat file that kicks off a master package, which kicks off about 300 child packages. My bat file is working correctly, however there seems to be issues executing packages in 64 bit mode.
So my question is...
Is there a way to specify in the bat file to execute packages in 32 bit mode and not 64 bit?
bat file:
"C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server110DTSBinnDTExec.exe" /f "E:MasterPackage.dtsx"
I need to be able to see if the incoming csv file had a head row different than the previous files header row. That will tell me that I have new columns.

Q2)is it possible to convert xls into micorsoft word and then transport it.
Q3) do i have to pay any thing if i use bulk insert to import .txt or .csv file.
what other type of files can be imported by bulk insert.

I am trying to create an ssis package with dynamic csv file as output. and out format contains query output.
sample file name:
Unique identifier + query output + systemdate();
The expression is looking like this.
@[User::FilePath] + @[User::FileName] + ".CSV"
-- user filepath is a variable from ssis package. File name is the output from SQL query. using script task i have assigned the values to @[User::FileName] .
When I debugged the script task the value getting properly but same variable am using for Flafile destination. but its not working.
I have a file named abc-72015.txt.
I have a package that renames the file from abc.txt to abc-72015.txt
I want to do the reverse. I wan to rename it from abc-72015.txt to abc.txt.
I have a variable named myFileValue with a value of abc.txt.
Can I do this by setting the variable as an expressions and use a function to rename it as abc.txt?
What would the syntax be?
I am using VS2012 and creating a package on a 64bit machine to import some data from a .xlsx file. My question is that I am getting an error for the Excel connection manager, do I need to install some kind of excel drive or excel itself on the machine in order to be able to import the data?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using vs 2010 and I have an .xls file that I am trying to import into SQL Server 2012, and I have most of it figured out, but I have a date field that is giving me problems, and what I would like to do is put that date in a variable so I can add it to every record in my SQL Table.
I am using a SQL Task Editor with an excel connection and I have no problem getting other data from the excel document and putting into my variable, its just the date that I have problems.
From SSIS I need to export data to a CSV with spaces padding the end of each field before the delimited value. For example if I have three fields that are Nvarchar(10) I need it to be this:
Testing ,Test123 ,Again {end of line}
instead of this:
Testing,Test123,Again{end of line}
It's like it can do fixed width or delimited but not both. Is this possible without having to force the spaces into the data coming back from SQL? I already have the SSIS package written to export the data to CSV which works great, just need to find some way to add the spaces to the end of each column to satisfy requirements on the system being exported to. Also the commas need to be there too.
I have a pipe delimited flat file having column headers with varying length which needs to be inserted into tables:
Col1|Col2|Col3|Col4|Col5|Col6|Description
1|12|ABC123|MCKDMC|DCDMCD|CDMKMCSD| Hello This is a description.
1|12|ABC123|MCKDMC|DCDMCD|CDMKMCSD| Hello This is a description data could not able to map
in SSIS 2012 HUHDCJ JNJNFCDNCD JCDJCNDJNCDJNCJDNCJNDCN.
The data in second row contains multiple lines of data. which failed to map in SSIS 2012 flat file connection manager. but in SSIS 2005 its working fine.
I have an SSIS package that inserts website URLs from a SQLServer table into a variable used by an HTTP Connection Manager, then downloads the data files from those URLs using a ForEach Loop and a Script Task. Works beautifully when a data file is found at the URL, but hangs if no data file is found. I've set the Timeout property on the HTTP Connection Manager to 30 seconds, but doesn't work. how to first check if a data file exists, of if the request returns nothing, or how to trap this situation in a try-catch?
Here is the VB code I'm using in the Script Task:
Public Sub Main()
Try
' Connect to website using HTTP connection manager
Dim nativeObject As Object = Dts.Connections("HTTP Connection Manager").AcquireConnection(Nothing)
' Create a new HTTP client connection
Dim connection As New HttpClientConnection(nativeObject)

I have an excel file which has dynamic columns
i.e. Col1, Col2, Col3 this week. next week i will have a new Col4 in the sheet. This will keep on adding every week.
My problem is to Unpivot the data
Date 8/2/2013 8/9/2013 8/16/2013
Stock 1,561 1,661 1,761
i.e. the abobe table should become as
Date Stock
8/2/2013 1561
8/9/2013 1661
8/16/2013 1,761
How can I unpivot the dynamic columns given that the columns will keep on increasing every week.
I have 15 Dealers files .With the Files name as follows
1. ''ACTEST00001_20141112_0408_INV.TXT''
2. ''ACTEST00002_20141112_0408_INV.TXT''
I will get these files through FTP on Daily basis with changes on date alone.
I will have 4 files for each dealers.like INV,SERVICE,SALES,APPOINTMENT.
SO i need to fetch a particular dealer with particular date.
I need to create this scenario in SSIS package. How to create this and what are all the Tasks i need to use to implement this process.
I set up a connection file in order to move data from sql to csv files. I should be at the last step, the data flow. but:I don't see any flat file in my destination assistant.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI need to process a 2012 Excel file. In SSIS Connection Manager, I am only given an option until Excel 2007 version. When I use this in my connection for Excel Source, I am prompted with this error when I attempt to select the name of the sheet:

Also my Run64BitRuntime is set to false.
We are currently running sharepoint with SQL 2012 database. The consultant who configured Sharepoint for us is advising/insisting that we setup a daily maintenance job to shrink the data and log files. He is insisting that the lack of maintenance job to shrink the files daily is the reason we are running out of disk space.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have created a Test SSIS Package within BIDS (VS 2K8, v 9.0.30729.4462 QFE; .NET v 3.5 SP1) that connects to our Test Listener.
There is only 1 Connection Manager Object, and OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.
The ConnectionString lists: Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Integrated Security=SSPI
The Test Connection within BIDS works.
The Package Control Flow has just 1 Object, and Execute SQL Task that performs an Exec on an SP that contains only a Select (Read).
The Package runs within BIDS.
I've placed this Package within a Job on the Primary Node. Ive run the job successfully using 32 bit runtime on and off. The location of the file on the server happens to be on a share that resides on what is currently the Secondary Node.
When I try to run the exact copy of this Job on the Secondary Node (Which has been Set up for Read All Connections; Yes), I get an error, regardless of the 32 bit runtime opiton. At this point, the location of the file is on the Secondary Node.
The Error is: "Login failed for user 'OurDomainAgent_Account'".
The Agent is a member of NT ServiceSQLServerAgent on both instances, and that account is a member of SysAdmin. Adding the Agent account as well, and giving that account SysAdmin, makes no difference either.
Why can't I get this to work?
i would like to know whether there is anyway to load the content of a Sharepoint(2007) List from a SQL server database.
have tried as a workaround to make Access database(.acc db) as a source for the List so that when changes made to the .accdb, automatically it reflectes the sharepoint list.
so i tried to make use of ssis 2005 to dts data from SQLserver db(Source 1) to .accdb(Destn1), then from Destn1 the SPList would receive data.
the Object that accdb supports to SPList is of Sharepoint List type i am not able to DTS data from sql server to accdb.
Any suggestions wld be appreciated!!!
Hi,
is there any example how to extract values from a SharePoint list? I searched in Google but I only found something about that someone failed using the web service task for it... If possible I would like to get around any custom .net code (Scripts would be OK), but if I can't get around that, I have to follow that path...
Thanks,
I have some records that have been deleted. I need to find out who did it and to do that I need to read the logs. Are there any utilities that will allow me to read login 7.0? How about 6.5?
