I have a dataset for report builder 3 that has 8 fields. The data for the report needs to be grouped by the first field. The 2nd field is a string that describes the group field and this too needs to be on the same row as the group field. This 2nd field need nearly the full page width. The remaining 6 fields need to end up rendering below the first row. I can't figure out how to get report builder to put the first 2 fields on the first row and use the full page width.
I've a report projects where each report has a number of columns and the spec is to have all the columns print-out on the same page. Is there a setting that will auto-scale these columns to fit to the page or will I have to edit the font size and widths manually on each report to fit to the page?
I found the following paragraph while searching on here:
************************************************************************ You could easily set up a parameter for each column and then display that column conditionally based on the parameter.
For instance, if you have a column that displays First Name, you could have a parameter called DisplayFirstName. Then in design view you'd select the whole FirstName column and in the Visibility-Hidden property set it to :
This could easily become a big, unwieldy report, though, if you have a great number of dynamic columns. Also, The width of the report is set at design time, and it includes the width of all your columns, not just the visible ones. This could cause you some pagination problems. ************************************************************************
That is exactly my problem. I have lots of dynamic columns which causes the width of the report to be wide. Thus even though at run time the report only shows columns within a page, the report itself consists of a lot of white spaces after the selected columns. Does anyone know a solution to this? If not, I guess creating the rdl with code manually is the only way? Please advise. Thanks in advance.
I added a new windows user "ReportUser" which is a local user (not in administrator group). When I connect to the report manage's web page, I use reportuser to log in (when the anonymous access is disabled it will ask a log in). Report builder icon is not showing up on the report manager home page.
If I log in as a user in administrator group, the reportr builder icon shows up so I can download it and build report.
I have assigned reportuser "Content manager" and "repoter builder" access to the home folder. Is there anything else I have to do to make the report build icon show up on the home page?
Hi - I am pretty new to Reporting Services. I need to create a report where a single result row from the Select Statement populates an entire page of data. The regular grid or Matrix reports don't fit this need. Is there a simple way to do this?
Hi How to bring Report builder in the Ui of .net aspx pages? I tryed withe the .exe but it is comming with a new process and come up with new IDE of Report builder, i donot required this, I want it should come up within the Aspx page itself.
We are facing problem in doing page break with column grouping. Our column group contains years e.g 2011, 2013 . We want to show a complete page for a year.Â
Suppose 2011 has 10 records(horizontal) and 2013 has 12 records(horizontal) in column. The output should be 10 records of 2011 in first page, 12 records of 2013 in second page.
We cannot change the report layout to make column to row and vice versa.
is it possible to separate Grand Total of a sub group to a new page?
I tried using advanced mode, find the first line the Grand Total section and set its "RepeatOnNewPage" to true, but, when I execute the report, it will throw an error something like the value of RepeatOnNewPage of the TablixMemeber must be the same as its previous object.
I need my report pages to separate by subGroup(SubGroupA, SubGroupB, A+BTotal).
I have a subreport on my main report, and the subreport contains a matrix. When I run the report, the subreport seems to expand beyond the width of the main report. The matrix itself does not expand beyond the width of the body of the main report, but for some reason it seems that the subreport does. The subreport does not contain any headers that might be messing up the width. If I cut and paste the matrix from the subreport directly onto the main report, and remove the subreport, it prints fine. But as soon as I include the subreport on the main report it prints with blank pages because the subreport expands beyond the width of the body of the main report. I have checked the width and margins on the subreport and compared to the width of the main report and all looks good. Can anyone help?
I set my report page width as 13 inch(page size=13in, 11in). Report is working correctly, It is having all the columns when I am exporting the report to PDF. But some columns are missing when I am directly printing the report. Can you please let me know how to print report with all the columns.
While trying to configure data source and data set on Report Builder 3.0 I created a table using table wizard. After I run I get the following error message:
"The report server has encountered a configuration error. logon failed for the unattended execution account. (rsServerConfigurationError)"
I checked the SQL Server Configuration Manager and saw the following error when i click on "SQL Server Services" on the left panel."error message: "The Server threw an exception. [0x80010105]"
There is a table t1 with two fields, such as, ID NAME 1 Tokyo 2 Xian 3 America
For there are full-width and half-width strings in the values of the two fields, I can not select and get the right records. So I want to transform the two fields ID and NAME, I fail to find the function in the SQL Server 2005. Please give me some advice.
I've made a report in which there are always one tablix under each textbox. I tried to produce a document map by giving document map labels for each textbox.
Everything works fine in Report Builder (3.0), but when run in the browser (IE, Firefox) the document map doesn't seem to work: when trying to navigate with document map by clicking the labels the report runs to the end of the report - not to the textbox where it should go...
I tried to solve problem using bookmarks instead of Document map, but there similar problem occurred. Bookmarks seem to work with Google Chrome, but I need a solution that would work better in most of the browsers.
So the problem seems to be that document map label navigates to bottom of the page. Added pagebreak after each tablix worked but since the tablixes are longer than screen there's still problem - document map should be set to navigate to the top of the page.
We have a ReportViewer control sitting inside a master page's content placeholder. All works fine except when I set the width and height to 100% rather than a fixed size in pixels. This is what we require, as we'd like the control to resize automatically along with the page.
I'm aware of a fix whereby you remove the doctype statement from the page's script, but this seems to have no effect on a page which is based on a master page.
Is there any other way we can get our ReportViewer to work in a 100% width/height mode?
I am having a main report having two subreports, say M1,S1 and S2 respectively.
The issue is S2 normally tend to go beyond one page, for all pages except first page of the of the subreport I am getting the page header and footer blank,
Actually this is not loading the ReportItems that are used in main report but it shows text boxes containing strings for eg . "My Name" and date functions eg Today()
I need to expand my page width and height. The report designer and report viewer allows me to do that. The expanded page does not export to the PDF Format. I am stuck width 6 1/4 x 8/12 for the PDF format. I am using the windows report viewer.
What we've found is that when you have two reports where one navigates to the other, if you click on the second page of the second report, it takes you to the second page of the original report. If you navigate over to the subreport again and click for the second page, it works appropriately. This is definitely a no-go for production code and this may delay our ship date because I would think this is definitely undesirable.
Conditions:
ASP.NET Report Viewer using Remote Reports Report that links to another report Both reports return more than one page Reporting Services installed Steps to Reproduce:
Download the source code here.
Follow the directions (near the bottom of the post) to get the project set up.
Run it and click on a link in the first report to go to the second report.
Click the arrow for page 2 of the second report.
Notice how it takes you back to page 2 of the first report (this doesn't happen when you are in preview mode in the Reporting Services project and I don't believe it does this in a smart client application).
Click on a link in the first report to go back to the second report.
Click the arrow for page 2.
Notice how it takes you to page 2 of the second report.
Here is a link with source code and a more detailed explanation: http://geekswithblogs.net/robz/archive/2007/11/21/Reporting-Services-2005-BUG-Report-Linking-and-Paging---ASP.NET.aspx
So what I am looking for is both a workaround for now and if this is determined to be a bug, to be fixed in the next service pack.
Hi, This is because there are many columns need to display ,when users export to excel ,now they have to manually adjust the worksheet as one page . Therefore,as the title, can anyone help me?
Has anyone figured out how to reset the page numbers after a grouping and have it display in the format €˜Page X of Y€™? I can get it to reset the page number for each group and display €˜Page X€™ but it€™s the €˜of Y€™ part that is a problem.
I'm not very familiar with sql server 2005, and am trying to create some reports for the first time. I created 4 fairly basic reports. Three of them work just fine. The fourth one is giving me fits. When I look at it in Visual Studio, it previews just fine - generates the correct data and everything. When I deploy it to report services, however, it gets squashed sideways, so that it is about three times too narrow. I've looked at both the body properties and the report properties, and they all appear ok when compared to the other three reports. The body width is set to 8.9 inches, and the report page size and interactive size properties are set to 8.6 inches.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, or am I going to have to start from scratch?
I just created a report builder. I have a main report and i wanted to create a sub report. why i cant or i cant view the path or the folder of my .rdl file to be use as my sub report.
After I use the report builder to create a generic report, how do I actually get that report into the report designer so that I can modify it more effectivly?
The issue that I have now is that the file on the report server is not a .rdl file and if I simply save it as one and then bring it into VS to modify it the code file is a html structure rater than a XML file type.
I have a table with five groups in sql server reporting service. If i give a page break at end in each group and deploy the report the report is fine when viewed in the report viewer(UI).
But when i export it to a PDF i get the Groups footer is a separate page. How can i get the PDF file same as it appears in report viewer.
This is so simple, but I can't get it to work. I created a grouping on the name field so that all entries for a particular person are on their own page. I break out perfectly so each one is a page for where I should get rows for that one person I only get one. On no page do I see more than one row. The data is not being summarized so that does not explain it. Why would I lose data row? Thanks!
Does anyone know how to create a bar chart in which the x-axis is dynamic (meaning I can have 0+ bars) and have the width of the bar being a fixed size?
Have anyone came across an issue with Reporting Service 2005 where if you had more than 1 group within a table and the first group has the property 'Page Break at end' checked - this will cause a page break after the group footer was printed.
Usually this is not an issue but consider this scenario - the 'Page Break at end' is set against the second group (not the first group which show the overall total) - when the last footer was printed for the second group, this cause a page break before the first group (overall) is printed - it seem to me that Reporting Service is not able to know when not to generate a page break if there isn't any more data - more importantly - there dosen't appear to be a way to set an expression against 'Page Break at end' within the group
Does anyone know of this issue and is there a workaround it?
I have a report with tablix. when tablix returns no rows Footer is coming all the way up . How to display the footer at the bottom of the page all time.
I have a very big report with 60 columns and some columns are invisible.
The problem is now if I have 30 columns that are invisible (hidden=TRUE), the report width still stays at 60 columns width, and the Horizontal scroll bar become very long and it just scroll to blanks.
I would like to know how to resize the report after it is generated?
We are having a table report which has set of columns where the visibility is made false based on report parameters. It works fine and the table automatically shrinks. But, the page width remains as early and has lot of blank space in it. It also causes printer to print many blank pages.
Is there a way to control pagewidth dynamically? Thought of adding a custom assembly to control page width - but how to access the page that is getting displayed. "this" will refer to the the assembly class instead of report as such.
