Mar 5, 2015I need to be able to see if the incoming csv file had a head row different than the previous files header row. That will tell me that I have new columns.

SSIS: Set Header Printed When Writing To A Flat File From A Variable
Jun 13, 2007I have a variable defined as "Country". Based on the value, the header row printed needs to be different.
I've already created a 'HeaderRow' variable that I'm able to set using a script task. But how can you set the Header text value at run time from the variable? There is no expression defined for the Header with the Flat File Destination object, and when I attempt to reference the HeaderRow variable as the Header text, the variable name is printed as the header.
Another approach I tried was to write the Header Row separately through another data flow task, but the issue here is: what is the input source when all you have is a Country variable?

My problem is that if the Excel file has data in a column as 123.45 which is displayed as 123. SSIS is able to pick 123 only and not 123.45. however if I change the data type to Numeric in the excel, SSIS is able to read data as 123.45.Any solution other than changing data type in Excel?

sample file name:
Unique identifier + query output + systemdate();
The expression is looking like this.

-- user filepath is a variable from ssis package. File name is the output from SQL query. using script task i have assigned the values to @[User::FileName] .
When I debugged the script task the value getting properly but same variable am using for Flafile destination. but its not working.

I am using a SQL Task Editor with an excel connection and I have no problem getting other data from the excel document and putting into my variable, its just the date that I have problems.

Oct 5, 2015From SSIS I need to export data to a CSV with spaces padding the end of each field before the delimited value. For example if I have three fields that are Nvarchar(10) I need it to be this:

instead of this:
Testing,Test123,Again{end of line}
It's like it can do fixed width or delimited but not both. Is this possible without having to force the spaces into the data coming back from SQL? I already have the SSIS package written to export the data to CSV which works great, just need to find some way to add the spaces to the end of each column to satisfy requirements on the system being exported to. Also the commas need to be there too.

Oct 12, 2014I have an SSIS package that inserts website URLs from a SQLServer table into a variable used by an HTTP Connection Manager, then downloads the data files from those URLs using a ForEach Loop and a Script Task. Works beautifully when a data file is found at the URL, but hangs if no data file is found. I've set the Timeout property on the HTTP Connection Manager to 30 seconds, but doesn't work. how to first check if a data file exists, of if the request returns nothing, or how to trap this situation in a try-catch?
Here is the VB code I'm using in the Script Task:

Aug 11, 2015I have a situation where our stored procedure inserts records from table_1 to table_2 when they don't already exist (uses the EXIST statement) on that table. If table_1 contains multiple records that are the same, it appears after the 1st record has been inserted, it does not recognize it as being there when it checks the existence when attempting to insert record 2.
Here's an example of the script:

select col1,col2,col3
from table_1 t1
where not exists (select '1'
from table_2 t2

and t1.col2 = t2.col2

SQL 2012 :: SSIS Package From File System Run As Agent From Job Step On Secondary Node
Sep 23, 2014I have created a Test SSIS Package within BIDS (VS 2K8, v 9.0.30729.4462 QFE; .NET v 3.5 SP1) that connects to our Test Listener.
There is only 1 Connection Manager Object, and OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.
The ConnectionString lists: Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Integrated Security=SSPI
The Test Connection within BIDS works.
The Package Control Flow has just 1 Object, and Execute SQL Task that performs an Exec on an SP that contains only a Select (Read).
The Package runs within BIDS.
I've placed this Package within a Job on the Primary Node. Ive run the job successfully using 32 bit runtime on and off. The location of the file on the server happens to be on a share that resides on what is currently the Secondary Node.
When I try to run the exact copy of this Job on the Secondary Node (Which has been Set up for Read All Connections; Yes), I get an error, regardless of the 32 bit runtime opiton. At this point, the location of the file is on the Secondary Node.
The Error is: "Login failed for user 'OurDomainAgent_Account'".
The Agent is a member of NT ServiceSQLServerAgent on both instances, and that account is a member of SysAdmin. Adding the Agent account as well, and giving that account SysAdmin, makes no difference either.
Why can't I get this to work?

Mar 16, 2015I have a table with EmployeeID, StartDate, and EndDate with a PK of EmployeeID, StartDate. How can I check to see that there's no overlap for StartDate and EndDate for a given employee? That is, on any given day there must only be 1 row for an employee where Getdate() is Between StartDate and EndDate. For an active employee their EndDate is set to 06/06/2079.
I've tried it using Row_Number() with Over() but am returning too many rows indicating overlap when none exists.
