SQL 2012 :: SSRS Report With Dynamic Column Headers

Sep 22, 2013

I have a report which runs for last 12 months data. Since this is going to be last 12 months the column headers change every month. How can we implement this with dynamic column headers in the dataset?

Reporting Services :: Add A Variance Column Into SSRS Report Where Column Headers Are Non-static?

May 13, 2015

I am creating a report in SSRS which has the following criteria:

- Row 1 (parent) is 'Product'

- Row 2 (child) is  'Feed'

- Columns are date.  I have 5 dates showing at any one time across the top.  The date field is set up as a parameter so depending on the date the user selects, the report will show that date on the end column and then the 4 days prior to that in the other columns.

 - Data is the number of records.

I have a sub total on the Product and the report is collapsed on Product as default.

What i'm stuck on is trying to insert a column at the very end that will show the variance between the last two dates.  So the difference between the date the user selected (@date parameter) and the day before that.

Reporting Services :: Display Dynamic Red Line To Column Border Color In SSRS Report

May 15, 2015

I am displaying the red line in the beginning of the current week column in the matrix table. But for few resources the red line is missing. For Example in below screenshot, refer the 'Adrian Larkin' resource. Here is the SSRS report border expression which is comparing the [TimeByDay] with the current Week First Monday Date to display the red bar -

=IIf(Fields!TimeByDay.Value = DATEADD("d", -(WeekDay(Today(),2))+1, Today()), "Red", "Black")"

Here is the dataset result set. If you refer the column [TimeByDay], it has no record for the date 11/05/2015 for the Adrian resource as he has no assignment for the date 11-05-2015.display the red missing line red bar using the expression or any other solution.

SSRS 2005 - Email Report On Execution To Dynamic List With Dynamic Parameters = No Schedule

Nov 23, 2007

Hi,
I have a need to display on screen AND email a pdf report to email addresses specified at run time, executing the report with a parameter specified by the user. I have looked into data driven subscriptions, but it seems this is based on scheduling. Unfortunately for the majority of the project I will only have access to SQL 2005 Standard Edition (Production system is Enterprise), so I cannot investigate thoroughly.

So, is this possible using data driven subscriptions? Scenario is:

1. User enters parameter used for query, as well as email addresses.
2. Report is generated and displayed on screen.
3. Report is emailed to addresses specified by user.

Any tips on how to get this working?

Thanks

Mark Smith

Reporting Services :: Report Viewer 10 And Fixed Column Headers

Aug 20, 2010

My problem is specific to the ReportViewer control. The report displays correctly in every other way (ssrs server viewer, visual studio preview, visual studio 'Run', etc)The aspx page hosting the control has two controls, the reportviewer control (assembly 10.0.0.0), and a scriptmanager control asyncrendering = 'true' and processingmode = 'remote'.So the columns are not 'always visible' with the reportviewer but they are with every other renderer that i've tried.

The report i'm testing is just a simple table with a couple groupings (built using the wizard). To enable the fixed headers I went to the groupings view and changed the "FixedData" property of the first Static member to true per instructions.

Report Headers Vs Page Headers

Feb 8, 2007

Hi, this is probably a simple question but I just can't figure it out. I'm using SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 sp1.

I'm trying to design a report that displays a particular embedded image on the first page, and then a different one on every subsequent page. I.e full, fancy company logo on the first page, and a trimmed down version on every other. In Crystal, I would have simply used the Report Header and Page Header sections to achieve this - easy.

However, in SQL Reporting Services, there is only a Page Header section - therefore whatever I place in the Page Header shows on every page. Now, I know how to stop it displaying on the first page, but I don't know how to display the other image instead.

I read in a support forum that it is possible to do this by "placing report items above or below your data regions" but I can't get it to work.

Grateful for any assistance.

Matt

SSRS : Populate Dynamic Column In Table

Feb 14, 2008

Hello,

I am having hard time to populate dynamic column based on parameters. For eg.
Parameter-->Dates : Date(1) ,Date(2),Date(3)....Date (n)
(Multiple-Parameters is selected by drop down list )
Report format:
Id | Currency |Country |District |Date(1)- transaction |Date(2)-transaction |Date(n)
1 | $$ |USA |123 |523238 |643763573 |62376264

Now requirement is If user enter 1 date then only single column date(1) populate if enter (n) dates then n column Date(1) ,Date(2),Date(3)....Date (n) populate.
kindly suggest me any solution requirement.

I tried to bind Visibility property of column with Parameters passed. So that user can see only those column for which they pass values.I am getting error "Index was outside the bounds of the array"

I write this expression under Column(Date)-->Property-->visibility --> hidden--> expression
=iif(len(Parameters!VALUEDATE.Value(1)) > "0",false,true)
Kindly suggest any working solution .Thank you

Reporting Services :: Saving Report With Taller Column Headings To Excel Cuts Off Taller Headers

Nov 20, 2015

we are running 2014 enterprise. A couple of column headings (even with smaller font) are a little tall, as much as 6 "lines".   All headings in the respective matrices are aligned vertically as "bottom".  When I save the report to excel, these taller headings get chopped off visually in their excel cell.   The cell contains the entire heading.  It appears that the second "line" of the heading is the one that is most visible in excel.

How do I get these to be saved so user will see entire heading when opening excel doc? In the first matrix there is a text box directly above the matrix and only one row of column headings.  In the second there is a higher column group heading containing month name above the problem headings.

BCP To Csv (that Part Is Ok) WITH Dynamic File Headers And Footers (NOT Ok)

May 5, 2008

Hi All.
I am building an SSIS job that will export some data to a csv then ftp it to a remote site.
I have been able to create the csv alright, but I need to add header and footer lines to the csv.

The header must be:

Filename+ crlf (will not change)
File type+ crlf (will not change)

Create date+ crlf (obviously changes) -- format is mmddyyyy as text

And the footer is:

Filename+ crlf (will not change)
File type+ crlf (will not change)

Create date+ crlf (obviously changes) -- format is mmddyyyy as text

Total rows+ crlf (obviously changes)

So I need to first open the file, count the number of rows, then add the header and footer lines.

I would like to do this as a step in ssis, as a function (not by calling a compiled assembly or anything like that). I have no experience with vb.net, and haven't been able to find any snippets on the web that seem to work. Can anybody lend a hand? thx. David

SQL 2012 :: SSRS Report Deployment To Web Service?

Jun 12, 2014

I created two reports in SSRS and have configured both the web service and report manager URLs in report services configuration manager.

whenever I try to open either one of the two reports from the manager or service I get the following error msg.

"An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database.

(rsReportServerDatabaseError)

Invalid object name 'DataSets'. Could not use view or function 'ExtendedDataSets' because of binding errors."

I get a similar msg when I try to deploy the reports from VS 2010. Only the first 2 sentences are returned.

I'm mystified as to why DataSets is an invalid object name. It shows as the TargetDatasetFolder name WebsiteReports Property Page. I've looked around for the error source and can not find where this error is stemming from.

Dynamic Column Titles In Tabular Report?

May 15, 2008

Is there a way to dynamically feed the Text of the Column titles into a report at run-time in Reporting Services?

In Access I could use DLookup to pull YTD Dates (e.g. "05/2008") from another view that kept track of the settings for the year being processed (Curr Year, Prior Year, Prior Year II, YTD I, YTD II, and etc. for each Year's data. YTD I and YTD II would read like '07/2008' and '09/2008'. The YTD II value could change as the next month's data became available ('10/2008'). As we switched from year to year (2007, 2008, etc.) all I had to do was update the [tbl Status Flags] table for the next year and all my many reports would reflect the correct headers for the periods in the data. The period could be switched back to prior years at any time by the user in order to view past data. When the year was changed the report headers would have to reflect that. The status flags table would give the setting for each year. Using hard coded titles was too confusing for the user and changing the titles manually was not feasible.

We have moved to SQL Server 2005 and Reporting Services 2005. Besides losing the ability to Change the Data at the top of every page as the Dept, VP Name, Director and etc. changed I also seem to have lost this dynamic column headers ability. I have found a cumbersome workaround for the data at the top of the page, but the only thing I have come up for the columns is to try to create queried parameters to feed those titles (they will be the same throught the report) and to fill those parameters with the queried defaults. I haven't tried it successfully yet, but so far it's looking like that is not how the defaults work.

Hopefully someone out there has a solution. I'd appreciate any help I can get.
