Where to start? Do I need to convert entire binary data file into text file?

Here is my task I am storing pdf's in sql server. I would like to retrieve the binary data from sql server and write the pdf content into an existing aspx page to the appropriate pageview section. What is the best way to handle this. The code works below but it loads a new browser with the content. I need it to appear in it's tabbed section in the original aspx file. Hey all, WE have a document management system where by Adminstrators can upload documents, once the document is uploaded the binary data is stored on in a folder on the web server. We used to stored the documents in the actaul db table, but we found that there were to many documents and it was using alot of space on db server. So my boss has decided we are now going to upload the binary data onto the web server. Currently we are donig this with new documents which have been added or documents which are gettinguploaded when reloading, but there are many documents in the db table which have not been updated and are still embedded in the db table. So i need to figure out how to go about copying the data storewd in the db table and storing it in web servers folder location. I've tried various things for a enitre day but im going round in circiles. I have inherited an SQL 2008 R2 Server running two SSIS packages. I have both as .dtsx files and & a manifest to install.The task at hand is now to migrate those to a new SQL 2012 server.[There is also an IIS running on that machine and project-specific .dll and stuff within the IIS document root. I do not know if these .dlls relate to the IIS web page or to the SQL .dtsx) But the migrated web site runs fine].
Installation of the packages into the MSDB works out flawlessly and one of the scripts runs fine, but the other fails to run with the error:
"Error: the binary code for the script is not found. Please open the script in the designer by clicking Edit Script button and make sure it builds successfully."
Google tell me something about a "Pre-compile option"-setting on server as explained here. I can not find this option setting anywhere in SSMS. Also as the migration is from 2008 R2 -> 2012 this should not be relevant as in both versions pre-compilation should be automatic, right?

- Start the "Integration Services Import Project Wizard"
to import the SSIS directly from the "Integration Services Catalog"
However, things don't quite work very well - Trying to import (from the locally installed SQL instance) it will not display the tree of SSIS stuff, but only the root directory.
So importing directly from the running system won't work. Let's see if we can get somewhere with the .dtsx As I _do_ actually have the .dtsx files here, why not open them up directly in Visual studio and try to get compiled whatever needs to be compiled.I create a new "integration Services" Project and open up the .dtsx into this project. ==> LOTS of errors of all kind.

When using AquaData or JDBC (inet tds driver), when doing an insert using SqlServer 2005, I get error "String or binary data would be truncated" when the data is actually OK. There are no triggers, etc. that would confuse the situation. It works fine in SqlServer 2000.
The scenario is as follows:
Create table:
create table test3 (
name varchar (18) ,
tbname varchar (18)
)
Create and populate table:
create table maxtable (
tablename varchar (18) not null,
[...]
)
Try to insert into test3:
insert into test3 (name, tbname)
select i.name, o.name
from dbo.sysindexes i, sysobjects o, maxtable m

and i.id = o.id and i.indid = 1
and o.name = lower(m.tablename)
And I get the error "String or binary data would be truncated." The values being selected for i.name and o.name have maximum length of 18. There are other rows in sysindexes and sysobjects with longer values, but they are not being selected.
The error does not occur with SQL Server Management Studio, and does not occur using SqlServer 2000.

We have a dll that sends a hexadecimal data (const. length) to MS SQL Server database. It's declared as String in VB, the db column data type is binary.
Here is the SQL String that has been executed successfully in Query Analyzer:

When I am trying to do the same thing in the insert stored procedure, I get an error message: "Disallowed implicit conversion from data type varchar to data type binary, table 'MyDB.dbo.MyTABLE', column 'MyCOLUMN'. Use the convert function to run this query."

I am working on a program in VB 2005 in which i want to store and retrieve GPS coordinates. I am not sure which data type is the best to use to enter Latitude & Longitude numbers and maintain their proper integrity.
Like LAT ( N38 28.025' ) and LONG (W105 52.098' )
The numbers will be entered by the user and that format can be maintained, but how to re-enter & or insert them into the database using the same format is my real question.
I hope I have explained this right. The numbers in BOLD are what I need to maintain.
