SQL 2012 :: Sizing Bar Of Horizontal Range Bar Chart In SSRS?

Sep 8, 2014

I need to manage the height of an horizontal range bar chart inside a SSRS 2012 report.

In my report, I've a filter to read a particular data set. So, I could select five data rows or ten data rows or twenty data rows and so on. I'd like to maintain fixed the height of the horizontal bars while the number of data rows changes.

SQL Server 2012 :: Adapting Number Of Columns For SSRS Chart

For my SSRS 2012 report I've created a dataset to extract the TOP 20 amounts.

I've create a stacked column chart to put these amounts as a values.

But in the chart I can see only ten amounts and not all 20 ones.

20 is a fixed number.

How can I adjust the number of columns in the chart in order to show all 20 amounts?

Reporting Services :: SSRS 2012 - Scatter Chart Isn't Showing All Data Points

Jul 27, 2015

I have a scatter chart in SSRS (SQL Server 2012, Visual Studio 2010) that is producing the following:

There are five data points on there, however the result set I am using has 10 rows (a 'Completed Date' of datetime and a 'Lateness' integer whose values can be positive or negative.

This is the Dataset and the results it produces:

SELECT DISTINCT TOP 10
a.ACTIVITY_NAME As [Activity Name]
, ad.COMPLETED_DATE As [Completed Date]
, ad.DAYS_LATE As [Lateness]

Horizontal Partitioning By Date Range

Jan 17, 2001

HI, I'm testing out partitioning for an upcoming project and I'm a little confused over the query plan im generating.

I have a 13 million row table I want to break in to date ranges:
tables are calljrnl,calljrnl_1999 and calljrnl_2000. The calljrnl table contains data for the last six months. one view, calljrnl_view is a union all of these three tables.

alter table calljrnl add constraint dt_constraint check (cj_created_dt >= '2000-10-01 00:00:00')

alter table calljrnl_1999 add constraint dt_constraint_1999 check (cj_created_dt <='1999-12-31 23:59:59')

alter table calljrnl_2000 add constraint dt_constraint_2000 check (cj_created_dt >='2000-01-01 00:00:000')

alter table calljrnl_2000 add constraint dt_constraint_2000_2 check (cj_created_dt <='2000-09-30 23:59:59')

The problem I'm having is that when I query on any date range outside the constraints set on the calljrnl_2000 table, It still wants to scan the calljrnl_2000 table.
I'm assuming this has something to do with how the constraints are structured, but I am not able to find the right combination.

ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

SQL 2012 :: TempDB - Tlog Sizing / Capacity Planning?

Nov 18, 2014

I am in the process of formulating recommendations with respect to the purchase of additional storage for our current SQL 2012 SharePoint (2013) instance. My recommendation is to purchase separate storage (i.e, 15k disks) for the TempDB and Tlogs respectively (two sets of raid 10 disks). Currently, this server is hosting several instances, including SP, using two arrays (one for database and the other for Tlogs).

I am attempting to find information/recommendations on how to go about projecting the amount of storage for each of these while factoring in for growth.

Additional Details:

how to best formulate a reasonable estimate. Our largest content database belongs to IT and is currently ~80GB. That said, this is currently an outlier. The remaining content databases are less than 10GB (most are less than 2-3 GB). However, SharePoint will be used for digital document imaging in addition to, eventually, replacing file shares as our primary document storage medium once we roll it out.

Our current tempDB is ~400MB, but the instance was recently started a few days ago, as we had to failover to our backup server for hardware maintenance. I do not have any historical data on TempDB growth at this time. Also, I don't know how useful this would be given we have not fully deployed yet.

Reporting Services :: Multiple Data Per Row On Range Bar Chart

Jul 23, 2015

I'm using Reporting Services 2008 R2, version 10.50.2550.0, and Visual Studio 2008, version 9.0.30729.4462 QFE.  Not sure if the SQL version matters, since I haven't gotten the report out of the development environment.I've read lots of messages, including URL.... that show you can have multiple data entries per row in a Range Bar Chart, simply by turning DrawSideBySide to False.My data set basically contains four pieces of data, LineNumber, Equipment, StartTime and EndTime.  I have data like:

1, 'CLM1', 08:00, 08:30
1, 'CLM1', 09:00, 09:15
2, 'SS1', 08:05, 08:35
2, 'SS1', 09:05, 09:35

(I actually have a date with my datetime entries, but that should give you the idea.)  My chart is set up with Values of EndTime and StartTime.  If I set my chart up with only Equipment in the Category Groups entry, my chart will show CLM1 from 08:00-08:30, and SS1 from 08:05 to 08:35.  No sign of the other entries per equipment, although I added a tablix to retrieve the same data and it all shows up.Changing DrawSideBySide between True, False and Auto has no effect on the data displayed on my chart.  If I add StartTime in the Category Groups, I do show all the data, but one row for each piece of data, which isn't what the customer wants.From what I can tell from various sites, I'm set up right, but it just isn't working.

Reporting Services :: Determine Objects Inhibiting Horizontal Shrink Of Tablix And / Or SSRS Report Size?

Jun 10, 2015

I am working on complex invoice document that handles various types of invoicing, credit, and progress bill customer facing documents.  I am faced with same problem I see many SSRS devs posting on.  And that is extra blank pages, being generated because the report width exceeds the width of the page.

My problem is I cannot shrink the horizontal width of the tablix and therefore the report width either...

While I would have done things differently if developing from scratch, the tablix in question has only one column and objects contained in rectangles are placed in the row/column cell.....The link to the image below shows the row I am currently working on.  Essentially all the client wants a columnar report with column lines, closed footers, etc...  so rather redoing the whole tablix, which I still might do, I am using rectangles with the column then lining them up.  Anyway, that is a whole 'nuther post.  My specific questions are:

Invoice in Report Builder

1. In the image I have selected the parent rectangle.  The children are other rectangles and the data is with grandchildren textboxes that exist within those rectangles.  I clearly have a bit of right side white space in the main parent rectangle, but there is no sizing tool on a hover... just move tool.  And if I change the rectangle size in the prop form it just snaps back to the cell width.  How do I size the parent rectangle and keep if from expanding.

Here I am guessing that to actually reduce the horizontal width of tablix and then the report, I have to first decrease the parent width of the rectangles that occur in each row?

Reporting Services :: Chart - Group Values Depending On Date Range?

May 20, 2015

Currently I report our monthly fees broken down into 4 weeks per month by using 4 separate datasets with the following code

SELECT
SUM(Practice.ibvSalesByJob.JobBilledExVAT) AS Sum_JobBilledExVAT
FROM
Practice.ibvSalesByJob
INNER JOIN Practice.idvJobType

[Code] ....

The second dataset then has the date code changed to

AND Practice.ibvSalesByJob.[Date] >= Cast(@Month AS char(2)) + '/08/' + Cast(@DateYear AS char(4)) + ' 00:00:01'
AND Practice.ibvSalesByJob.[Date] <= Cast(@Month AS char(2)) + '/16/' + Cast(@DateYear AS char(4)) + ' 00:00:00'

The third

AND Practice.ibvSalesByJob.[Date] >= Cast(@Month AS char(2)) + '/16/' + Cast(@DateYear AS char(4)) + ' 00:00:01'
AND Practice.ibvSalesByJob.[Date] <= Cast(@Month AS char(2)) + '/23/' + Cast(@DateYear AS char(4)) + ' 00:00:00'

The fourth

AND Practice.ibvSalesByJob.[Date] >= Cast(@Month AS char(2)) + '/23/' + Cast(@DateYear AS char(4)) + ' 00:00:01'

Now I was hoping so that I could report the above data in one chart and do an expression on the category and group the dates so I would just have one dataset like below but four separate columns saying Week 1, 2 3 and 4 and then the sum filtered in line.

SELECT
SUM(Practice.ibvSalesByJob.JobBilledExVAT) AS Sum_JobBilledExVAT
FROM
Practice.ibvSalesByJob
INNER JOIN Practice.idvJobType

[Code] ....

If I could somehow with SQL tie in all 4 separate datasets and display them as Week 1, 2, 3 and 4 underneath the dataset and selectable.An even simpler solution maybe just understanding how charts work, I can get it so I display the 4 separate weeks in the chart however I can't get the bottom line (Category Group) to display Week 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Reporting Services :: Range Bar Chart - X Axis Dates Label Format Need To Be Converted To Quarter

Sep 4, 2014

I have created range bar chart and I am not able to achieve the following tasks.

1. Change X-axis Label Format to Quarter:

I have x-axis with dates and y axis of project groups. I have changed x-axis interval type = month and interval=3.

Set the Maximum =  Max(ProjectEndDate) and Minimum = Min(ProjectStartDate).

Now my chart showing 3 months x-axis interval dates in mm/dd/yyyy format. I want to change this interval date format to Quarter. The problem is LabelsFormat property is not recognize  the "=Q or q or quarter" and also not accepting the expressions. How can I achieve this?

2. Placing series side by side when it is not overlapping

I want to place the same group series side by side only when the previous project end date is less than next project start date, otherwise place the next project to next row. How can I achieve this?

Any idea to capture the values in the graph(Category,Series and Data values) and display them in a textbox or tool tip in a SSRS chart?

Mixed Chart Types In SSRS

Feb 8, 2008

Hi,

I am trying to create a graph that consists of a bar chart and line graph - both to appear on the same graph.

They will show different information, but will essentially come from the same dataset.

So far I have not been able to achieve this and it would seem that you cannot mix chart types. This is very disappointing given the plaudits associated with this product.

Can anyone restore my faith in this product by telling me that the above is possible and, if so, how do I go about it.

Thanks very much.

Multiple Drill Through In A SSRS Chart

Sep 10, 2007

Hi,

we have a requirement that, when we click on the multiple series bars in a SSRS chart, it should drill through that chart and the detail report should filter based on these x axis and y axis of the bars selected.

As far as my knowledge, we can drill through the chart by selecting single series bar at a time in SSRS. Is there any way to acheive this multiple drill through of a chart.

Thanks

Issue In Line Chart Of SSRS 2005

Feb 4, 2008

Hi,

I am having a report which contains a line chart. I have tried different alternatives, but i could not get it solved.

For example:

Line Chart with

x-axis : month(1,2,....,12)
y-axis : sales amount.

series group : city (DimGeography.City) filtered by (DimGeography.StateProvinceName = "London")

I am getting different lines for different cities of London. That's working fine. But the requirement is i need to display one more line in the same line chart depicting/showing the sales for the "London" state as well.

Please help me if anyone can.

Thanks in advance.

SSRS Dynamic Chart Type Selection?

Does anyone know if there is a way to dynamically set the chart type (i.e. pie, line, column, etc.) for your report in SSRS? I want the customer to be able to chose which type of chart they'd like to see.

I've looked all over the Internet and can't find anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Clarification:
I guess I should clarify a little. I am using an ASP.NET 2.0 page written in C# and using a ReportViewer control.

More Clarification:

SSRS Index Out Of Range

Sep 5, 2007

I get this error when exporting to Excel from the designer or from the Report Manager:
"Exception: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index"

One solution is:
(1) One Detail Cell in my table contained a number like #.#########. Aparently this freaks out Excel. I converted it to a string like this:
=Convert.ToString(Format((ReportItems!ValueOne.Value / ReportItems!ValueTwo.Value), "#.#########")) This sometimes works but makes the export have text fields and numbers under 0 show just .01 instead of 0.01 for example.

(2) Apparently disabling the Document Map Labels has the same effect and cures the problem - HOW DO YOU DO THIS?????? There is a label property for text boxes - but these are not populated.

Reading the internet..says that the SP2 for SQL server should slolve it. It hasnt.

please help..

Thanks
David
