SQL 2012 :: Concatenate A Filed If Rows Have Same ID?

I want to CONCATENATE a field if the rows have the same Id. For example the data looks like
ID Name Identifier
1 ken English
1 Jack French
2 Jamie Spanish
3 Shirley German
The data should look like this if the IDs are same. I am concatenating the Identifier column with the name if the ids are same
ID Name Identifier
1 Ken English English
1 Jack French French
2 Jamie Spanish
3 Shirley German

I concatenate multiple rows from one table in multiple columns like this:
--Create Table
CREATE TABLE [Person].[Person_1](
[BusinessEntityID] [int] NOT NULL,
[PersonType] [nchar](2) NOT NULL,
[FirstName] [varchar](100) NOT NULL,
CONSTRAINT [PK_Person_BusinessEntityID_1] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
[Code] ....
This works very well, but I want to concatenate more rows with different [PersonType]-Values in different columns and I don't like the overhead, of using the same table in every subquery ([Person_1]). Is there a more elegant way to do this, without using a temp table or something else?

hello everone i have a table named "Concerned_Department" in which i ve a filed "Deadline"of type DateTime.i ve another table named "Cat_description" in wh i ve a filed "Max_Days"of type int in wh i ve values 1,2 and 3.in "Cat_Description" table i ve "Cat_ID" as Primary key of type int.all i want is if i select a row from "Cat_description" with "Max_Days"=1, i want to add this 1 to current date and and place it in the "deadline" field of "Concerned_Department" table.like if today is 12/02/2008 then i want to place 13/02/2008 in "Deadline" filed of "Concerned_Deprtment"tablewhen a row with "Max_Days"=1 from "Cat_Description" is selected.i am using SQL SERVER 2005 Exprees and C#(in source behind).regardsAhmed Bilal Jan

I have a table similar to the following:
Date ID Name Job Number JobType
12/12/2007 123456 Fred Smith 111111 Full Day
12/12/2007 654321 Bob Blue 222222 Half Day AM
12/12/2007 654321 Bob Blue 333333 Half Day PM
I need the following output:
Date ID Name Job Number JobType
12/12/2007 123456 Fred Smith 111111 Full Day
12/12/2007 654321 Bob Blue 222222 Half Day AM
12/12/2007 654321 Bob Blue 333333 Half Day PM
Now before you say the output is the same . It isn't! There are only 2 records in the output. The italic lines are one record, with a carriage return linefeed between each piece of data. So for job number the field is equal to 111111 + CHAR(10) + CHAR(13) + 222222
Could someone please point me in the right direction?

I have a SQL statement that fetches book information via a TITLE_ID which is fine if we only have one edition (hardback), but if there are two editions (hardback and paperback) it will return two rows like:
Title - Author - Edition
The Amazing Pixies - A. N. Author - Hdbk
The Amazing Pixies - A. N. Author - Pbk
Is there any way to concatenate the Edition field so the two lines become one? I have searched for ways to do this but have had no luck.

We have a hierarchical table of some 2-3k of rows that grows slowly at only 3-5 rows a month, and is never likely to be above 5k, holding file/directory names with an IdParent int value pointing at that items immediate parent or NULL if root
Below is a sample:
Id Name IdParent
1 C: NULL
2 D: NULL
3 ProgramFiles 1
4 DataFiles 2
5 Excel.EXE 3
6 MyDataList.CSV 4
iterative code required to achieve the result I am looking for is best handled in the Application layer, but in this case the design brief is that we must get our results back as a View. Speed of execution and code clarity are secondary 'icing on the cake' issues.
I have tried recursive CTE's and XML FOR solutions but without success, and while I feel the latter is probably the best all rounder the searches I have made and the examples I have read do not seem to solve this particular issue.
Even to find the starting point of the search tree (i.e. the .EXE and the .CSV items) was difficult because the final slash is optional in some of the rows (.e. row 4)
The end result of my view on the above data should return:
Id FilePath
5 C:ProgramFilesExcel.EXE
6 D:DataFilesMyDataList.CSV (note the adding of the missing delimiter between DataFiles and MyDataList)

I run the following statement and it will not update beyond 7 million plus rows and I have about 38 million to complete. I keep checking updated row counts and after 1/2 day it's still the same so I know something is wrong because it was rolling through no problem when I initiated it. I need to complete ASAP so it's adding to my frustration. The 'Acct_Num_CH' field is an encrypted field (fyi).

Eventually I need to only get the first 50 bytes of the data field, but somehow, I use len('==data==',50), it would catch 50 chinese characters which make 100 bytes ...

How can I make datatime filed a blank?
For example,
create table abc (day1 datetime, day2 datetime)
insert into abc values ('2001-08-09, '2001-08-13')
insert into abc values ('2001-08-10, '')

If i execute the above sql then I will have,
