SQL 2012 :: Create SSRS Report Based On Multiple Locations

Oct 23, 2015

I am looking to create an SSRS report based on multiple locations. There will be one report that presents a summary of all reports, and then individual report for each location.Instead of creating 2 separate reports, is it possible in SSRS to display different datasets based on the parameter selected?

Reporting Services :: SSRS Linked Report Based On Calculated Field From Main Report

Oct 6, 2015

How do I get data on my linked report based on my grouped subtotal and grand total from the main report. The subtotal and grand total are calculated columns.

I have a 3 columns in my matrix in the SSRS summary report. Actn_COAST, ActnCITY and NumbOfAccts.

The following is code for my summary report. The results are shown below.

SELECT Distinct ActnCITY, Count(ACCT) as NumbOfAccts,
CASE WHEN ActnCITY in ('NY', 'OH', IN, 'NJ', 'SC', 'NC') THEN 'EAST COAST'
WHEN ActnCITY IN ('CA'. 'NV', 'UT', 'WA', 'OR') THEN 'WEST COAST'
ELSE 'OTHER'
END AS Actn_COAST

FROM tbl1
where ACTNDATE between @STARTDT and @EndDT

Code for my detail report contains the following SQL

SELECT * FROM tbl1 where ACTNDATE between @STARTDT and @EndDT AND @ActnCITY = ActnCITY

I have linked my report based on the NumbOfAccts column. I am able to get data if I click any of the NumbOfAccts values related to the state I want. However when I am not sure how to make the subtotal and grand total work. I want when I click on the subtotal of either coast, I should be able to see records of that coast e.g., if I select 37 I should be able to see all the records in East Coast. If I click on the Grand Total, I only want data related to those 2 coasts.

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Send SSRS Report Based On Certain Criteria?

Mar 11, 2014

I have an SSRS Report that I created. I'd like to set up a job that will run every hour, and what the job will do is send an SSRS report to a select group of recipients when a certain criteria is met. How do I go about doing this? My SSRS knowledge is very limited.

Additional Info:I created the report with a one time schedule to a certain email address. I do see the report schedule in the reportserver DB. Because I already have the schedule and the subscription id, I think all I have to do is call that subscription, but that's where I'm lost.

Using Prompt Parameter Into SSRS Report Based On Sql Query

Dec 12, 2007

Hi All,

I have a question regarding how to use report prompts in SSRS reports that are based on SQL queries.
When I added the prompt into the query for use as a filter value, it says that there is an error.
It does not recognise the '!' inside the parameter prompt string. Example is parameter!month_prompt.Value, which the ! is not recognised.

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Mohd Fadzli

Sorting Parameter Values In SSRS Model Based Report

Sep 21, 2007

Hi,

I have created a report using Report designer (Visual Studio, using Data Model as a data source), in the report I had created few datasets (with single filed) to populate the report parameters, lets say I have created a multi valued Parameter CustomerName and assigned field from a dataset,

result are coming correctly and combo box is getting populated but the customers are not in alphabetical order!

I want to sort it and need to specify it in report (please note that I am using Report Model as a data source and I cant sort the source table in the data base to get the result sorted)

Please let me know if anybody has done that or forward me if know some link which talks about it.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jayant Jape

Reporting Services :: Don't Include Last Page Of SSRS Report Based On Parameter

Mar 9, 2015

I created the report, which has 4 pages. Each page contains bunch of tables and charts, which display data in scope of dataset, created for each page and reflecting certain subject. Each page also has Header and Footer.

My users requested, the report has possibility to include or not include data on Page #4.

Other words, report should display 3 or 4 pages based on the entered parameter.

1. I created parameter named “Include #### metrics”, which contains options: Y, N
2. For each object on the page 4 I added dependency on the selected parameter in the visibility option.

Now if user select parameter Not include Page #4, report displays 3 pages as expected and page #4 is empty, but with Header and Footer.

The problem: Their preference is to not to show page 4 at all if someone chooses to not to include #### metrics.

My question is how to force the report to display just 3 selected pages.

I am wanting to creating a column based on a value in a flatfile, and insert that value into the destination table...

I have a flatfile and a oledb destination, I dropped a script component on the dataflow tab, and I am wanting to take an existing field and create a for lack of a better word, "CODE" field based on that value. How would I accomplish this?

Example--- where description = Test1 code = 1, Test2 code = 2, and same thing for Test3

Description code
Test1 1
Test2 2
Test3 3

Autoincrement ID For Locations That Members Create

Aug 22, 2013

I'm using a SQL 2008 database on a SQL 2012 hosted server. I have an autoincrement ID for locations that my members create. These go up by 1.... eg. 9400, 9401, 9402.

Tonight a member attempted to make a new location and the ID went from 9407, 9408 and JUMPED to 10408. Any subsequent creations only continue from 10408 onwards.

What happened here? 9409 to 10407 just aren't available.

Can SSRS 2005 Handle Stored Procedures Or SQL Subqueries That Rreturn Rowsets Based On Multiple SQL Updates?

Nov 8, 2006

Hello,

I have a stored procedure that creates a temporary table, and then populates it using an INSERT and then a series of UPDATE statements. The procedure then returns the temporary table which will contain data in all of its columns.

When I call this procedure from SSRS 2005, the rowset returned contains data in only those columns that are populated by the INSERT statement. The columns that are set via the UPDATE statements are all empty. I read (in the Hitchhikers Guide to Reporting Services) that SSRS will only process the first rowset in a stored procedure that generates multiple rowsets. Is this true? Is this why SSRS does not retrieve data for the columns that are populated by the UPDATE statements?

Here is the stored procedure:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Desc: Returns EDP program and related channel (i.e., provider) information from the IPTV Data warehouse.
-- Note that some of that data used by this procedure are obtained from the RMS_EPG database

Creating Report Based On Multiple Databases?

May 6, 2008

My application uses 2 databases from 2 different server. When i create a report model in business intellegence development studio I can only create 1 datasource for each database, and 1 datasource view for each datasource. Then when I create a new report, I can only use one datasource.

Is it possible that my report can be built on more than one databases?

thanks in advance

Multiple Data Files && Locations

Oct 23, 2007

What is the recommendation for having multiple data files ? I've read 1 per CPU etc... some say keep it all in one data file.

How do multiple sql data files help when they are located in the same raid group/single volume ?

This is the setup that I have:
4 CPU box with 2x P400 array controller to 2x MSA10 exclosure (for data only, tempdb, logs, backups are on other arrays)
one array controller per enclosure. single big RAID 10 volume on each ( or should I do 4-4-2 separation).
(In single big raid 10, All disks would help for performance of each query... I don't want to create separate raid groups, mostly due to growth constraints in the future, am I wrong ?)

How should I split database across these two enclosures ? one,two data files on each or more ?

How would this look in OLAP vs OLTP scenarios ?

Thank you.

SQL 2012 :: SSRS Report Is Not Refreshing?

I have created an SSRS report, but the data does not refresh. I am using the SSRS Report Buidler to create reports and when I run the query in the dataset, the results return as expected. However, when I run the report itself, the dataset appears old.

SQL Server 2012 :: Row Counts Based On Distinct Values From Multiple Tables

Jan 15, 2015

I am trying to create a query that outputs the following data from multiple tables. Here is an example of the raw data right now

Date | MachineNumber | TestName
---------------------------------------
1/1/2015 | 500 | Something
1/1/2015 | 500 | Something
1/1/2015 | 500 | Something
1/1/2015 | 500 | Something
1/1/2015 | 510 | NewTest
1/1/2015 | 510 | NewTest
1/1/2015 | 510 | NewTest
1/1/2015 | 620 | Test#1

Here is the desired counted output, I would like to pull distinct Date, MachineNumber, TestName and then count how many times they occur in the raw data form.I do need to perform a case on the date because right now its in a datetime format and I only need the date.

Date | MachineNumber | TestName | TestOccuranceCount
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1/1/2015 | 500 | Something | 4
1/1/2015 | 510 | NewTest | 3
1/1/2015 | 620 | Test#555 | 1

I am pulling three columns with the same names from 8 different tables. What I need to display the date, machine & test name and count how many times a test was run on a machine for that date. I have a feeling this can be handled by SSAS but haven't built an analysis cube yet because I am unfamiliar with how they work. I was wondering if this is possible in a simple query. I tried to set something up in a #Temp table. Problem is the query takes forever to run because I am dealing with 1.7 Million rows. Doing an insert into #temp select columnA, columnB, columnC from 8 different tables takes a bit.

SSRS And ASP.NET Multiple Reports Within One Report Viewer

Feb 6, 2008

Ok,

I am writing an app that will allow a user to select various information for displaying in a report. The sql is dynamically generated when the user clicks on "Get Report". Currently, I am using a gridview with a datasource and I pass the query to the datasource and it displays in the grid view. However, our company has expressed a need to migrate reporting to SSRS.

Is there any way that I can use dynamic sql with a template report and feed the dynamic sql to it so that all I would have to do is write a single rdl or rdlc and pass it the sql?

Alternatively, is there a way to have One ReportViewer show multiple parameterized reports. Ie. User selects the report from a dropdown and then selects the parameter options from other dropdowns and when they click "get report" it loads the chosen report with the parameters?

Thanks in advance.

SQL 2012 :: SSRS Report Using New HierarchyID Datatype

Apr 22, 2014

I am using the HierarchyID datatype for my requirement to manage the hierarchy structure. I found it very useful in maintaining the structure in the table with the levels.

I am looking to develop an SSRS report to generate this tree structure. I couldn't find anything relevant todo this using HierarchyID.

I found Parent child hierarchy in SSRS using recursive hierarchy method which was not using the HierarchyID datatype.

SQL 2012 :: SSRS Report Deployment To Web Service?

Jun 12, 2014

I created two reports in SSRS and have configured both the web service and report manager URLs in report services configuration manager.

whenever I try to open either one of the two reports from the manager or service I get the following error msg.

"An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database.

(rsReportServerDatabaseError)

Invalid object name 'DataSets'. Could not use view or function 'ExtendedDataSets' because of binding errors."

I get a similar msg when I try to deploy the reports from VS 2010. Only the first 2 sentences are returned.

I'm mystified as to why DataSets is an invalid object name. It shows as the TargetDatasetFolder name WebsiteReports Property Page. I've looked around for the error source and can not find where this error is stemming from.

SQL Server 2012 :: Update Table Based On Existing Values In Multiple Rows?

Oct 1, 2015

The objective is to identify orders where an order fee has been applied incorrectly. I have multiple orders per customer, my table contains an orderID and a customerID. Currently if the customer places additional orders before the previous orders have been closed/cancelled, then additional fees are being applied.

Let's say I'm comparing order #1 to order #2. I need to identify these rows where the following is true:-

The CustID is the same.

Order #2 has a more recent order date.

Order #2 has a FeeDate Before the CancelledDate of Order #1 (or Order #1 has no cancellation date).

So in the table the orderID:2835692 of CustID: 24643 has a valid order fee. But all the subsequently placed orders have fees which were applied before the first order was cancelled and so I want to update the FeeInvalid column with a 'Y'. The first fee will always be valid.

I think I understand why the code I am trying doesn't achieve the result I want but I can't figure out how to write it correctly. Below is one example of code I've tried and also code to create the table and insert some test data.

update t1
SET FeeInvalid = 'Y'
FROM MockData t1 Join MockData t2 on t1.CustID = t2.CustID
WHERE t1.CustID = t2.CustID
AND t2.OrderDate > t1.OrderDate
AND t2.FeeDate > t1.CancelledDate

[OrderID] [float] NULL,

SQL 2012 :: SSRS Security Setting / Can't Get Them On Report Level

Aug 11, 2014

I work on test SSRS setup and trying to give one user enough rights so she can download RDLs from server, but no matter what I do on Folder leverl, on report level her security are still only as a <Browser>. Structure of our Server is:

Home/NewReports/Misc/Report01.

I'm checking those in <Folder Settings>/<Security> where this user is OK (Browser, Content Manager, Publisher, Report Builder).

So she looks OK in all folders Home/NewReports/Misc, but on report level she still only a browser.

Our db team tried everything on SSRS server working with Site settings and Folder option, how to make that report inherit security ?
